If Mace was a traitor why was he trying to hold off the vote for creating a clone army for the Republic? That was Palpentine's first line. "I don't know how much longer I can hold off the vote my friends."
If Mace was a traitor why would he tell Anakin to "PROTECT THE SENATOR AT ALL COSTS."
She was against the creating a clone army. He sent her to Naboo to stall the vote and protect her life.
Anyone want to explain this to me?

1. maybe he is working for dooku. the clone army would not be a good idea then. or maybe he works with someone we havent heard about.
he sent anakin to protect padme. simply because he knew that he could not go against the bounty hunters trying to kill her. think about it. would you send a young unexperienced jedi to protect her? yes, if you wanted him dead.
if he really wanted padme alive he would not have send her to naboo ( the most obvious place) and with anakin. if he was so concerned about her he would have assigned more jedi to protet her. not just one. he basically sent two young kids to die. that is why he sent obi wan in another direction. separating anakin from his master would be the best thing for him. being a traitor that he is.

Homeless which AOTC movie did you watch? The version I've watched 16 times now, Yoda assigned Anakin to protect Padme. Yoda sent Obi Wan off in another direction.
Yoda: Track down this bounty hunter you must Obi Wan.
Obi Wan: Senator Amidala will still need protecting.
Yoda: Handle that your padawan will.
Padme didn't like the idea of hiding, but it was to her advantage to hide on her home planet. She didn't want a Jedi protector to being with because of political reasons. Assigning several Jedi to protect her would have looked bad politically. Like the Jedi were influencing her political views.
That's why Obi Wan told Padme "Our prescene here will be invisible I assure you milady." That's also why Obi Wan didn't want to get in the mess of investigating the assination atempts.
The Mace working for Dooku theory is ridiculous.

homeless_jedi, since when is the Rule of Two sketchy at best? And how does a Sith Lord retire? Are there benefits with a Sith's retirement? There are always two Sith, master and apprentice. To become a Sith, one must die, like Darth Maul, they don't retire, and there are no Sith Training academies either. What there are are Jedi or other beings with force capabilities who can be turned to the Dark Side. Get your facts straight. This whole theory is nonsense anyway. You wouldn't know Jedi Wanna be, would you? He tried convincing us that Sidious and Palpatine were two different people, both theories lack any cohesive evidence, just mindless conjecture.

Homeless jedi just makes up crap as he goes along and calls it proof. Sith retirement, now that one is very very funny. Once the sith realized that having greater numbers was a weakness to them and being hidden was key they put into the system of staying hidden and only having two at a time. I NEVER remember yoda saying in AotC that their had to be a traitor in the survivors. And plus your survivors count could be wrong also, we dont know of anyone really besides mace and yoda that lived, even though we can make educated guessed about it. Back to the point, make sure i have your email addresses when ep.3 actually comes out so i can laugh in your face as the dumbest star wars "fan"(i use fan loosly) ever.

These are my top reasons for believing that Mace is NOT a traitor:
1. He sends Padme and Anakin to Naboo, a safe haven for the two while the other Jedi fight the war.
2. He Kills Jango Fett
3. By saying that they should alert the Senate of their inability to use the force and Yoda's reply of "Only a Sith would (or "should" i can't remember) know this" shows that Yoda also recognizes this, and Yoda is definately not a Sith.
4. His defiance in TPM to allow Anakin to be trained as a Jedi
5. His own lack of foresight in the force. Sith are said to be able to see further into the future than Jedi.
6. I just don't think he's a traitor (Gut feeling)
7. My strongest argument: He's the baddest-ass Jedi ever.
Now, i know that these points have already been discussed a long time ago on pages far, far away. But im just summing up my personal opinions and the what seem to be the most popular opinions in this thread.

I know a lot of people say Mace had a purple lightsaber because SLJ wanted one. And I know a lot of other people say Mace had a purple lighsaber because he's going to turn bad. Well I read something somewhere (don't remember where), where it said that SLJ had asked Lucas what color lightsaber he would have and Lucas said something like good guys are green and blue and bad guys are red. He then said that Mace could be purple. Now I'm not sure if that means it doesn't matter or that theres some foreshadowing there.

Mace's Lightsaber in episode 1 wasn't Maul's. It was a simple Lightsaber. What happened was someone doctored the photo and altered the saber. But it in no way is Maul's. This was cleared up long ago. He has a different saber in AOTC.
He isn't a Sith and no Dark Jedi in the films. Period.
He didn't kill Dooku as he wanted to know where the other Sith Lord was.

That would be some foreshadowing ... why would Windu be the only one with a purple one if it was a sign of loyality issues? To signal Yoda that he's a "traitor"? It doesn't make any kind of sense.
