The model I used for the Clone Emperor is Thomas J. Spanos. His Clone Emperor costume is amazing. He specializes in EU character costumes actually and I love this guy's work. His Prince Xizor and Durge costumes are pretty magnificent as well. Check him out at http://www.paralada.org

Guy DuBlanc posted: Just got my copy of INSIDER #83 today. Joe, you did a tremendous job on the "20 best EU moments." I really liked how you captured these scenes from the EU, particularly since most of them have never been visualized before. This is among the best work I've seen you do.
I also recently received the VADER: ULTIMATE GUIDE. Your Vader pin-up was good, a nice link between the PT and OT.
Great work! Keep it coming, Joe!
Thanks so much. I tried some different things with these pieces like more pencil straight for color and adding in a few new techniques and effects so I was nervous how some of it would turn out in the end. Overall I'm really happy with this batch of SW art and am so happy everyone seems pleased too. Abel Pena and I collaborate really well together and illustrating for his writing always brings out the best in my work.
The new Vader artwork was emotionally one of the hardest pieces I tried to accomplish. I really just wanted to tap into at least some of the angst that was so instrumental and effective in RotS. I thought by having Vader focusing on Padme in a private moment it would actually make fans look at Vader in a different light when watching the Classic Trilogy.
Glad you liked my artwork from the new Vader guide and thanks for picking up a copy!

Didn't realise that that guy had made a Durge as well. That's incredible.
Though it still reminds me of Shredder
I won't bother dreaming about owning some of those beautiful pictures then (I can't afford them anyway )

I do have a question: when you sell original artwork that has
been digitally coloured, is it coloured or not (since digital
colouring seems to imply you do it on a PC, and not the original).
As Joe said in reply, his original art is black & white if it says digitally colored. But what he didn't mention is you can usually request a quality color print of the piece if you buy his originals. I find that really cool, because you can appreciate the final color piece, and still get to enjoy the detail and line work of the original inks. Joe also offers color prints of his more popular illustrations (like his awesome Grievous piece from Insider) for reasonable prices. Hopefully (ya listening Joe? ) prints of the Vader's Guide and latest Insider pieces will be available at some of his upcoming Con appearances.

Okay, it's off Star Wars, but what was the Thunder Riders project I heard mentioned in the Komikwerks announcement at Comic Con in SD?

Joe, I really liked the print you did of the young Qui-Gon with Dooku and Yoda for the HoloNet news. You captured their appearance so well at that younger age, which I don't think is an easy feat.
Are you selling this piece of art as a print?

OK, Joe, I promise this will be the last time I bring this up, or anything even remotely related to it. Which era is J'ilk Torlin supposed to be from. Prequels, Old Republic, OT, New Republic, NJO, or Legacy? I promise, after you answer this question, even if you just choose an era at random, I will never bring this character up in this thread again.

You betcha, Jeff. I'm indeed hoping to get a small run of my Vader's Guide artwork and the Best of EU opening artwork made available for fans this fall. If plans don't fall through I should have them by Mid-Ohio-Con in Columbus this year but I really don't want to promise anything at this point. Check back with me in October and I should know for sure by then.

Thunder Riders you spake? It's still too early for me to talk about it right now but is a project I'm currently trying to get in gear with Komikwerks. I'm working on lots of other projects too right now, including more Star Wars work for Insider, so I need start picking up steam on TR soon. So what exactly did you hear about it ?

Thanks for enjoying that artwork! That was one of my favorites from HNN.com I don't have that art available as a print currently but if you contact me directly we can discuss getting you a one-off version for a reasonable price I'm sure.

Yousa JoeJoe Binks?!?
I got very little detail about your project specifically. The gist of what I heard was that Komikwerks was going to expand in the direction of the young reader market. We all know young Mr. Potter is doing quite well with younger readers. Anyway, Komikwerks announced a dozen or more titles they had planned for next year, targeted at the 10-14 age bracket. I'm guessing these will be less like comics, and more text oriented with illustrative plates or figures spread throughout. On the list was Thunder Riders with you as illustrator, and John Helfers credited as author. Also mentioned your work with Star Wars and John's with Tom Clancy's Net Force. The full list was announced during Comic Con and was released with an interview of one of the authors (Rob Worley doing TigerFist) at CBR News (http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/newsitem.cgi?id=5551).

Hey dudes and dudettes,
My latest artwork for the return of HoloNet News (and Kai Justiss) in SW Insider #84 has now been posted at my official site right here - http://www.joecorroney.com/cgi-local/imageFolio.cgi?direct=Star_Wars/Star_Wars_Insider_Art
To read about some of my behind the scenes inspiration for this artwork check out my blog at TOS here -
http://blogs.starwars.com/joecorroney/22
I hope you guys enjoy this latest SW artwork!
I'm currently wrapping up 1,000 sketch cards for a new Star Trek: The Original Series project. For you Trekkers out there keeping score I created sketches for the following five episodes - The Alternative Factor, Conscience of the King, Devil in the Dark, Court Martial and Dagger of the Mind. These cards should be shipping from Rittenhouse Archives/Sci-Fi Hobby sometime in November I believe.
I recently completed my illustration work for the independent horror/musical feature Zombie Prom (produced by Wes Craven). That film will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival and hopefully later next year you'll be hearing more about it.
I also finished cover artwork for IDW Publishing's new comic book series based on Joss Whedon's vampire detective character, Angel. My cover is for issue #3 of the series Angel: Old Friends shipping in January '06. Keep your eyes peeled for that. I'm in talks right now with IDW to pencil a five issue series of another Joss Whedon/IDW collaboration and things are looking good so far. I'll keep you posted as soon as I can share any more news.
In the meantime I want urge everyone to go vote for Quinlan Vos as *THE* Star Wars Expanded Universe character you'd like to see Sideshow Collectibles create as a 12-inch figure!-
http://www.sideshowtoy.com/php/081905sweu.php?&source=swpoll
If you're all big fans of Dark Horse Comics and Jan Duursema and John Ostrander's character like I am then head on over and vote and tell all of your friends to vote for him too!
Finally, I'm currently offering a full color Revenge of the Sith sketch card of Padme on eBay.
Click the My Art on Ebay button in the left side navigation at my site to go check it out.
Thanks eveyrone!
