JediEire posted: Hey, just wanted to drop in and say I have Joe Corroney's Celebration III print on my wall, signed and everything, and I absolutely adore it. Everytime I look at it I remember C3, and it was really great meeting Joe and the other artists. I ddin't discover the art room until late on Saturday, or else I most likely would have lived there for half the celebration, hehe. Amazing stuff, and Corroney is extremely talented and creative.
Aww, shucks... Thank you I'm glad you like the art so much and that you had such a great time at CIII!

Seriously, who's email inbox can we flood with "WE WANT JOE!" messages?
Loved the stuff in the recent issue of Insider! Could tell you like drawing Grievous from some of your other prints, but the Palpatine was the best I've seen.
If Insider is looking for something to publish, seriously...you guys need to use "The Great Remorse of Darth Vader" sometime. Joe, is that one going into circulation at your convention stops? (please)

Thanks, Krash! I'd say just let the SW editors (Randy Stradley and Jeremy Barlow) at Dark Horse Comics know on the DH.com message boards since they're very active in the forums there. I wouldn't go flooding them with emails or pm's, but they enjoy hearing what fans tell them they like and look forward to in the comic books. They don't necessarily grant requests but they do enjoy interacting with the fans and getting feedback. Right now, I'm working on Spike Vs. Dracula for IDW Publishing (which you can read more about and see preview art at my official site) but I definitely would love to do more SW comics for them sometime if they offered me something again.

I'm glad you like the art! I *love* drawing Grievous He's such a complex villian both visually and characteristcially (due in part because of how he's been portayed in different sources like the animated Clone Wars micro-series, the comic books, and of course in RotS). But with Abel Pena's new article in Insider #86, fleshing out his backstory and making him even more complex and tragic, he's really been giving Vader a run for his money for me in terms of illustrating favorite characters in my work. Though, no one will ever beat the original man in black
Glad you liked the image of Palpatine in the full page opener of the article. The focus of the piece really was all about Grievous but I wanted to surround him with the background players of his origin (or resurrection). Palpatine and Dooku, along with San Hill, really set those plans in motion and I always look for an excuse to draw Palpatine or Dooku when possible. Their faces have so much character which make them fun to illustrate.

That piece was published in Vader: The Ultimate Guide which was produced by the SW Insider team and IDG Publishing last summer. I do have some copies available through my online store, but because the magazine has since sold out they're not cover price (but they're autographed at least).

Hey Everyone,
My first two issues of Spike Vs. Dracula from IDW Publishing are currently on sale and you can view some of my interior artwork from #1 and all five of my covers for the series at my official site in this new gallery -
http://www.joecorroney.com/cgi-local/imageFolio.cgi?direct=Comic_Books/Spike_Vs_Dracula
If you like what you see feel free to pick up these comics if you see them or you can order autographed copies from my site soon.
Also, you can view my art process for the first issue cover at my weekly Comics 101 column for World Famous Comics.com -
http://www.worldfamouscomics.com/comics101/back20060316.shtml ]right here
I'll also be signing for this series (and my Star Wars artwork too) on May 6th for Free Comic Book Day at Midgard Comics in Westerville, Ohio. So if you're in the neighborhood stop on by. My buddy Darryl Banks, artist for DC's Green Lantern, will be there signing as well.
Later that month on May 19th-21st I'll be appearing at the Motor City Comic Con in Novi, Michigan with Star Wars sketch card artist and Jedi Knight extraordinaire Justin of World Famous Comics.com -
http://www.motorcityconventions.com/motor_city_comic_con/index.html
Other Star Wars guests at the con will include Dave Dorman and General Grievous himself, Matthew Wood. Fellow Star Wars illustrator and good friend Chris Trevas might be stopping by too.
Coming up June 2st and 4th, I'll be appearing with my Star Wars art and signing autographs opening weekend for the premiere of Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination at COSI here in Columbus, Ohio -
http://www.cosi.org/adapt.php?page=starwars&fl=1
Here's the press release from the website: The first exhibition of its kind, Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination, combines costumes and props from all six Star Wars films with real-world technologies, video interviews with filmmakers, scientists and engineers, and two large Engineering Design Labs, where visitors can build and test speeders and robots. Visitors will explore prototypes, learn about the engineers and designers who are creating new technologies, and discover intriguing similarities between how scientists and filmmakers think.
Along with the fantastic exhibit itself there will be appearances by Anthony Daniels, Jeremy Bulloch and members of the 501st Legion. If you're in Ohio and you're a Star Wars fan, you can't miss this! I'll also be appearing at the event other times throughout it's run and will be conducting a drawing workshop for kids as well. Keep your browser pointed at my official site for dates and more info soon.
In the meantime I was recently given the greenlight to illustrate new Star Wars artwork as a signed and numbered limited edition print to celebrate the premiere of the exhibit at COSI in Columbus. Right now, I believe the plan is to have the artwork only be available to their special Star Wars guests, VIP's, VIP media, sponsors, charity acution, etc. If you're wanting to get your hands on one of these prints it seems like eBay might be your best bet later on. I'll have more news on the artwork and the upcoming exhibit event itself as the premiere date draws near.
Thanks for the support everyone and I hope to see you at some of these events!

Hey folks. As many of you know, Joe recently lost his father to illness. Click on the link below to read Joe's tribute to his father, and lend this great illustrator, who's brought us so much joy through his art and love of Star Wars, any kind words and support you deem appropriate.

Thanks for enjoying the article and the artwork I don't work at Skywalker Ranch, I'm a freelance illustrator working out of my home studio in Columbus, OH. Most of my projects for Lucasfilm involve providing artwork for one of their many licensees. Though occasionally I work with Lucasfilm directly on special projects but even then I send my artwork in to them on disc or upload it via ftp from my computer at home.

Yes, but I believe that honor goes to esteemed SW artist and goody buddy Chris Trevas who is illustrating the NEW EG to Aliens coming out this Oct./Nov.
I believe my next Star Wars project should be illustrating "Vader's Legacy" (written by Abel) for an upcoming issue of Insider. I might do another project for Insider before then but I'm not sure yet. It depends on my editor and art director's decision I think.
I am working on some special print artwork for COSI's upcoming Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination exhibit in Columbus, OH. You can read more about the event in my blog here -
http://blogs.starwars.com/joecorroney/33
Currently, I'm penciling the Spike Vs. Dracula series for IDW Publishing and working on the final issue now. After that... I'm not sure what I'll be working on later this summer actually, nothing scheduled yet.
I will be traveling abit this summer to appear at some comic book conventions though. First up, Motor City Comic Con in Novi, MI May 19th-21st with Star Wars guests Dave Dorman, Matt Wood and John Jackson Miller -

Thanks so much, Abel. I appreciate the support. My parents, especially my dad, are the main reason I'm a Star Wars fan in the first place and if it weren't for them I wouldn't be here today talking to everyone on the boards let alone making a living as a Star Wars illustrator.

By the way, Spike Vs. Dracula #2 is on sale now and #3 should be on stands *really soon*, this week or next I think. And if anyone is interested they can view the art process for my #2 cover in this behind the scenes Comics 101 article right here -
http://www.worldfamouscomics.com/comics101/back20060420.shtml
Also, this coming weekend for Free Comic Book Day on May 6th, I'll be appearing at Midgard Comics in Westerville, OH. Other special guests include my friend Darryl Banks, artist for DC's Green Lantern series. I'll be signing Spike Vs. Dracula comics along with my Star Wars artwork so if you're in the area be sure to stop by... and tell 'em Large Marge sent ya!

Hi Joe,
I thought you should have a thread around here somewhere. It looks like Kim and I will have to add another piece of Corroney art to our collection at COSI this weekend.
(if we're allowed to buy it--I don't think we qualify as VIPs )
Thanks again for the invite at Novi. That was a fun evening.
See you on the weekend

It was good hanging out with you and Kim at the comic con in Novi too! We'll see you at COSI for sure. I will have all of my Star Wars art with me available for sale for fans showing up Friday night (and I should be back at COSI on Sunday too). The only piece of art that is for VIPs only is the new print artwork of R2-D2 I created for the museum and the "Where Science Meets Imagination" exhibit. You can view a sneak peek of the sketch here -
http://www.joecorroney.com/cgi-local/imageFolio.cgi?action=view&link=Star_Wars/Star_Wars_Sketchbook&image=SWCOSIPrintFinalSketch.jpg&img=&tt=img
But keep your eyes peeled on star wars.com later tonight when it updates for a look at the final print artwork.

It was good seeing you again at COSI, as brief as the hellos were We were kept pretty busy as I'm sure you can relate to.
We did manage to stop and have a small chat with Justin on Sunday but you were off somewhere.
Due to Kim's organizing work for the event, COSI did present her with one of the VIP pieces of artwork so we were quite happy about that. It will look nice all framed and in the collection.
