Hey Everyone!
I'm off to San Diego Comic Con tomorrow with my pal Justin (Kai Justiss), webmaster and creator of World Famous Comics.com. You can find us located in Artist Alley for the show at table CC10 with Star Wars artists Jan Duursema and Dan Parsons (Star Wars: Republic, Jedi: Dooku, Jedi: Aayla). If you are headed to the show be sure to visit me at my table since I'll have plenty of Star Wars art to sell and sign for fans.
And if you stop by I might even let slip some pretty exciting news (at least for me) about my latest, upcoming Star Wars project For a hint, and if you are a Hyperspace member of the official Star Wars Fan Club, then visit the Kessel Mines section and access the 'Comic Con Premieres Picture Viewer' to take an exclusive peek at some of my latest Star Wars artwork
So if you are going to the show I hope you have a good time and I'll see you in San Diego!

Joe! It was great meeting you finally. Thanks again for the art. Saw the cool pics of the Kids Draw Star Wars from the OS ComicCon viewer. Congrats again too on the good news about the (EDIT) gig.
SDCC 2004 was pretty crazy but I still enjoyed my stay overall. Sorry if I looked like I was just zoning out most of the time. I'm always like that! But the Con was a monster.100,000 plus attendees i was told. Maybe next time I'll hang out at the table more so I can watch it for you guys and watch you all at work too.

On starwarz.com Jeremy Barlow let slip that you'll be doing art for Empire.
I actually went "yes!" aloud.
I'll keep my eyes peeled for it.

Hey Everyone!
Sorry for being so quiet lately and especially sorry if anyone has emailed me recently (as in the past month) and I haven't responded because I've been super busy. San Diego Comic Con was such a blast! You can read my con follow up report in my News section at my official site. As soon as I got back from SDCC though I had to jump into overlapping projects including Star Wars Heritage sketch cards. I was only able to complete around 530 cards though since another project took up most of my time this month which was....
my first Star Wars comic book for Dark Horse!
It's only a fill-in issue but it's a dream come true none the less. Most everyone who has met me or talked to me knows this has been a big goal of mine for a few years now so I really tried to knock one out of the park with my art for them. I think my editors Randy Stradley and Jeremy Barlow dig the artwork so I'm hoping all the readers will too.
The book I just finished penciling was Star Wars: Empire #25 written by Ron Marz. It's the second half of a Han and Chewbacca story, *lots* of action which was really keen to draw. Besides Han and Chewie (which I had to pinch myself every time I was drawing either of them) I also got to draw one of my *other*, most favorite characters I don't want to spoil it or the ending but the last half of the book, including the dogfight with the Millenium Falcon, was especially exciting to draw.
I'm really hoping everyone goes out and buys a copy... or even two! Don't hold back! Ya know, one to read and one to put away
I'd love to draw even more SW comics for Dark Horse so if the response is good then maybe they'll put me back to work for you guys and hand me another assignment. Remember, it's Star Wars: Empire #25, which probably ships sometime in October, maybe a little sooner.
Also, Weds. September 1st at 6pm EST I'll be participating in an online chat interview at GalacticSenate.com.
So stop by if you have any questions for me about my work on my recent Dark Horse comic for instance, Star Wars sketch cards, HoloNet News, SW Insider, Episode III or just about anything at all.
Hope to see some of you there!

Thanks Wil! It was great meeting you also! Thanks for bringing your artwork by too. It was really cool to see in person that original fan art you created of Kai Justiss and Ur-Sema Du with Quin and Aayla. Keep up the great work!
And thanks for the congrats!
Maybe next time I'll hang out at the table more so I can watch it for you guys and watch you all at work too.
Anytime!

Thanks, Sidious! It's Star Wars: Empire #25. Let me know what you think when you pick up a copy.

Hey Joe! It's Joe (Frietze).
I came over here looking for a Dave Dorman thread, after reading your post on Jan's board, and instead I find a thread for you. Geez, they'll give just about anyone an official thread around here, won't they?
Well, I guess I can assume that you can handle the http://www.friendsofdavedorman.com/ announcement around here, then, can't you ?

Holy cold shoulder, Mr. Freitze! Yep, someone around here thinks I'm a legitimate creator in the Star Wars universe so they made me this thread
I'll pass the word on here about Dave Dorman's recent catastrophe with Hurricane Ivan.
Dave is a well known Star Wars artist and a personal influence of mine so I thought I'd share this chance for everyone to help him out and possibly pick up some great, original artwork in the process. Check out the following story and www.FriendsofDaveDorman.com for more...

#1 Star Wars Artist Dave Dorman Devastated by Hurricane Ivan: Artist Friends Launch Web Site to Ease Dorman's Expenses
Summary: Dave Dorman's business partner, Steve Smith, launched
www.friendsofdavedorman.com to help the #1 Star Wars Artist of All
Times defray costs of damages incurred by Hurricane Ivan to his
Florida Panhandle home.
FLORIDA PANHANDLE~All of the light sabers on George Lucas' planet
Tattoine couldn't defend #1 Star Wars Artist Dave Dorman from the
devastation his home incurred from Hurricane Ivan this past
Thursday. Luckily, Dorman, a longtime friend and supporter to
illustrator colleagues worldwide, is getting by with a little help
from his friends. Business partner Steve Smith has launched a
philanthropic Web site, www.friendsofdavedorman.com where
illustrators can donate their works to help defray the costs of the
extensive damage to Dorman's Florida Panhandle home.
At 2 a.m. on September 16, 2004, a tornado clipped the roof of
Dorman's home, causing extensive water damage to the interior.
Although Dorman's art studio and oil paintings were not affected,
the home is largely uninhabitable, and Dorman's wife is eight-and-a-
half months pregnant. "I am humbled and overwhelmed by the
kindnesses shown to me by my illustrator friends, many of whom I've
never had the pleasure of meeting in person," Dorman said. "I hope
to repay them someday, somehow."
For more information on Dave Dorman, please visit www.DaveDorman.com
or for Dorman's creation, The Wasted Lands, please visit the Web
site at www.wastedlands.com.
