Hi Jack - Good seeing you at CIII. Sorry I didn't get a chance to check out your table, that last day of the show really had me keeping myself on my toes. I did check out your website when I got back home. You've got some really great work, some really slick stuff. Keep it up!
Hey Jamie! Long time no chat. Hope you are keeping busy. The next con I'll be at will be Pop Culture Fest here in Columbus, OH and then three days later I'm off to San Diego for Comic Con. After that I'm booked for Wizard World Chicago in August. If I don't see you at any of those shows maybe we can catch up at Mid-Ohio-Con this November?
In recent SW news... I recently wrapped up my artwork for Vader: The Ultimate Guide which will be released sometime in July by IDG Entertainment who publish SW Insider. Speaking of SW Insider I'm putting the finishing touches on my 'Best Moments of the Expanded Universe; artwork for issue #83 right now. The article is written by my pals Abel Pena and Enrique Guerrero. Some of the characters I've illustrated for the feature include some of my very favorites - Darth Vader, General Greivous, Aayla Secura and Asajj Ventress to name a few. I really had fun with this project and hope you guys check it out when #83 ships next month.
I have to immediately segue into sketches for my next project for issue #84 next week and then get everything packed and prepared here in my studio for the big show out in San Diego. Remember, Friday is Star Wars Day at Comic Con so be sure to stop by the Lucasfilm Pavilion and then stop by my table in artist alley.
Hope to see some of you guys in SD!

Yeah...cant make it to any cons this summer. Too busy with family stuff and basically cant afford to go to cons right now. REALLY missing Chicago Yeah hit me up on email or IM or something. Keep in touch! Need any help with anything say inks or anything just ask.
Maybe you can get the word in for mid-ohio. I have submitted for the last 3 yrs a artist alley table, like back in the spring time...then usually a month before the con, I get an email "sorry we are booked, but heres 2 pro passes" I so want to have a table there.
Oh well.

Sweet! I'm going to be ordering that Vader Magazine as well.
I'm still hoping I can make ComicCon on that Saturday. Not able to do the whole 4-day thing this year and I won't be wearing my EPIII clonetrooper armor since I haven't even received my kit yet.

Hey Wil! Great seeing you at Comic Con, even if it was brief. That was really cool that you ran into Jan and Doug out on the street that night, what are the chances? Hope you had a good time while you were there.
If anyone is interested feel free to check out my Comic Con wrap up report in my blog Die Jedi Die!!!. I had a fun time at the show with Jan, Justin (Kai Justiss) and Doug (Quinlan Vos) and some of my other SW buddies so give it a read if you have some time to spare.
Quick update on my projects - I'm working on sketches for HNN. Be on the lookout for that in the pages of Insider soon. My artwork for Vader: The Ultimate Guide is now on display at my official website in my Star Wars Misc. art gallery here...
http://www.joecorroney.com/cgi-local/imageFolio.cgi?direct=Star_Wars/Star_Wars_Misc_Art
SW Insider #83 will be shipping very soon with my artwork for the "Best Moments of the Expanded Universe" feature written by Abel Pena and Enrique Guerrero. If you get your copy drop me a line here on the board and let me know what you think. I'll be posting the artwork on my site soon after the magazine ships.
If you like the feature (or anything else from Insider so far) be sure to let the folks at IDG know by sounding off on the boards or emailing them. They work really hard to bring us Insider every few months and they would really love to hear some positive feedback from the fans. I might have some other Star Wars projects in the works for Insider but it's way too early to divulge anything. I'll keep my fingers crossed in the meantime and hope some of these ideas pan out.
I'm also working on a couple of independent film related comic book projects currently and illustrations for a possible children's book. I'll be working on some Star Trek sketch cards as well soon.
Next week I'll be heading to Wizard World Chicago with Justin, Jan and Doug so catch us there hanging out in Artist Alley if you plan on going.
Hope everyone is enjoying the summer so far. Just announced, EP III on DVD and Battlefront II on November 1st! There goes my allowance for that week

Hi Joe. Yes, it was pretty wild running into Jan on the street like that. I actually saw Doug still in his Quinlan armor from the disance. Just came back from the ATM and was calling it a day and heading back to the trolley to take me to my room some 8 miles way in Chula Vista. I enjoyed my 2-day stay and the Con did go by pretty fast. Did get to see many of the things I had set out to see. Next year though I plan on doing at least 3 days and schedule it out more. Definitely be cool to hang out with you guys more.
I enjoyed reading your blog. Thanks for mentioning me It was great seeing your "remorse" piece for the Vader mag. I also wanted to see your ROTS pages again!

I'd love to see some more of your artwork sometime too so if you've been working on anything new feel free to bring it along with you to the next show. Those are some great pictures; I especially like the one of Ton Phanan (one N please, two As, no O, Mr Corroney )
I do have a question: when you sell original artwork that has been digitally coloured, is it coloured or not (since digital colouring seems to imply you do it on a PC, and not the original).

Those pictures are really cool. However I noticed that thi Ishi Tib Jedi is still just Ishi Tib Jedi, not J'ilk Torlin. As I have tried to say many times before, if you forgot or changed your mind, that's ok, I would just like for you to say so. The Expanded Universe pictures are awesome. I've been waiting years to see someone do a picture of Ganner's last stand. I'm glad it's you who got to do it first; it looks absolutely awesome. I just have one question. In the Best of Expanded Universe montage, who is the guy clutchin a holocron?

Just got my copy of INSIDER #83 today. Joe, you did a tremendous job on the "20 best EU moments." I really liked how you captured these scenes from the EU, particularly since most of them have never been visualized before. This is among the best work I've seen you do.
I also recently received the VADER: ULTIMATE GUIDE. Your Vader pin-up was good, a nice link between the PT and OT.
Great work! Keep it coming, Joe!

Ah, thank you, I can see that now that you say that, but I wasn't sure if it was someone else I hadn't heard of yet.

The original artwork for sale is not in color if the description reads "digital color". Digitally colored does indeed mean the artwork was painted in the computer. I usually complete the art in pencil or pen and ink, scan it and then complete the rendering in Photoshop, Painter or both programs simultaneously. Hope this helps.
Thanks for enjoying the new art!
