I hope Allegiance will be set in Wild Space. Wild Space has always fascinated me. And I hear a new species will be introduced in Allegiance.

Outbound Flight spoilers here...

I always wondered where the Empire got the technology for gravety wells for the Interdictors.

I hope Zahn writes more on the early days of the Thrawn/Sidious relationship, post Outbound Flight that is. Perhaps we will see a Thrawn in Exile from the Chiss come accross either a Sidious version or a Chancellor version of Palpatine. Here's another speculation, anyone think Palpatine signed Thrawn on as the Outer Rim bulldog and sent him after his former Chiss who exiled him? It would be cool to see more of Thrawn's tactics and stories in the Outer Rim.

Also... you know how Thrawn is portrayed as an invincible genious... and Thrawn sounds kinda like Zahn... hmmm.

The original version in the days when Timothy Zahn wrote his first SW-novels was, that the empire developed interdiction-technology some time before the battle of Yavin. This goes so far, that some older sources claim, that the original DS carried a prototype aboard.

Thanks to more recent sources the Republic has had interdiction-technology for 4,000 years (KOTOR) and it was that widespread, that in Darth Maul Saboteur scavangers use the technology to pull damaged ships out of hyperspace.

The obvious retcon is, that with time more modern versions of hyperdrives were built, which made it necessary to build more modern versions of interdiction-technology. However this doesn't explain why so many people (who should know) seem to be ignorant about its existance in OBF and other sources.

I was very impressed with the Outbound Flight. Now Survivor's Quest makes a good deal more sense. tongue I also liked getting a more personal look at Thrawn. He's an interesting sort of villain... the kind that you can sympathize with, to a degree.

I wouldn't be surprised if Thrawn were involved, too, but behind the scenes. Maybe it'll show his ascention to Grand Admiral.

Just found out that Night Train to Rigel came out in paperback last month, so I picked it up today.

The Conquerors' Trilogy (Conquerors' Pride, Conquerors' Heritage, Conquerors' Legacy) is probably his best non-SW work. Other good books (that I've read) include:

The Icarus Hunt
Angelmass
Manta's Gift
The Green and the Grey

I'll let you know about Night Train to Rigel after I finish, but it sounds pretty good.

I'll second the excellence of the Conquerors' Trilogy and The Icarus Hunt. Haven't read any of the others wk posted, but I'd also recommend his Cobra trilogy/duology (the first two books were retroactively combined into one omnibus dealie afterwards, I guess). Cobra, Cobra Bargain, and Cobra Strike (though I may have gotten the last two switched). Cobras is the name of the combo book, IIRC. In case you can't tell, I last read these a while ago. They were good, though.

I also agree...

The Conqueror's Trilogy is my favorite non-SW Zahn work. Angelmass and Icarus Hunt are also very good.

On a side note, the Dragonback series is a very cool concept.. I know they are books aimed at young teens, but they are still pretty cool...
