I read Heir to the Empire and Dark Force Rising and they really ignited my love for Star Wars and now I am trying to make my own novel.

Took a while because of outside interference, but I finally finished Night Train To Rigel. Great book! Kind of a cross between Star Wars, Murder on the Orient Express, and a Bogart movie. Hopefully what I read about sequels is correct.

Hey! A Tim Zahn thread!
He is definitely my favourite SW writer. However, he does have his flaws.... *cough*romance*cough*
Could somebody please tell me what the themes of his non-SW books are?

Hey me too!
He's very reliable. I can pretty much guarantee that if there is a Star Wars book written by him, it will be good.

He got me started on Star Wars in general, I read his books before I saw any of the movies. After reading those I just wanted to know more.

I've read the Conqueror's Trilogy and I quite liked it, but I found the stuff from Max's point of veiw to be a little difficult to follow. Although a computer might think in numbers if it were self-aware, humans don't, so I found the discrptions of the distances characters sat from each other and how many nano seconds it takes for character A to get to point 2 from point 1 to be a little dull. It's because of stuff like that why I sometimes prefer Fantasy to Sci-Fi...
I've read the Icarus Hunt as well and found it intriuging, so I enjoyed reading it and got through it quicker than I thought.
At the moment I have Night Train to Rigel waiting to be read. I've yet to get hold of Angelmass and The Green and the Grey. Em..The Green and the Grey looks like an interesting book, as I've seen it around. I might get that one next.

After reading the latest book in LOTF, I must say, I'm truly missing the early days of Star Wars renaissance literature. Currently rereading my broken-in copies of TTT, SotP, and VotF.

I'm still upset they didn't ask Zahn to write a book or two for LOTF. I've always enjoyed his writing, and if I hear more about Mando's, Del Rey are going to find themselves with two tonnes of chicken manure on their doorstep!

Like many of you, I was a fan of the movies and Zahn's trilogy were the first Star Wars books I read (back in High School so it was early 90's right around when they came out). I've been reading Star Wars novels since. Mara was one of my 2 favorite characters (Luke being the other). I read Zahn's remarks from a book signing when he was asked what he'd think if they killed Mara during LoTF and he said he'd have to kick "butt". He said most authors would ask the creator before killing thier character and he was never asked about Mara. He didn't see them killing her as she was so popular. I was wondering if anyone had heard of his reaction to Mara being killed and by whom?
