Krados posted: No I'm just asking how Vector's going. I'm dying to see krayt meet Muur and Jan said in her thread that id that did happen it "would be something." So, yeah that got my hear racing. LOL. Any tidbits though you'd like to throw out?
On an aside, as one of millions who say "I am a writer," it is a learning experience to see your style and the comic formatting as well froma man who is actually paid to write.
Ah! I see! You're fishing!<g> I probably won't throw out anymore tidbits than Jan has. Anticipation is part of the fum, IMO. Of course, I'm a part time sadist.<g>
As a writing exercise, VECTOR has its own challenges. We HAVE to assume that there will be new readers; that's part of the rationale in doing the crossover -- to attract new readers. It has to be accessible to those who hav NOT read the other arcs but, at the same time, we don't want to bore our regular readers. We're also the CONCLUSION of the VECTOR crossover so there has to be a payoff for those who have followed the crossover but it also has to have an impact on our book. Sounds tricky but it comes down to a) making sure we introduce everyone clearly so the reader knows who these people are and their essential relationships and b) don't try to explain everything -- give the reader the ESSENTIALS of what they need to enjoy the story and get on with it. That's where we have to sift through things -- what is absolutely NECESSARY for folks to know?
We can, and will, explore the ramifications of what happens in VECTOR during 2009. As the saying goes, "You ain't seen nothin' yet."

Thanks for a bit of insight into the creative process. And, John, you ARE a sadist! I've been writing to Jan for the need of two Legacy issues a month, so I can see Krayt and Muur even quicker. And then when we're there, can't stop with two episodes a month...just can't.

Here's a question I haven't seen you answer around here lately, John (and sorry if you have and I missed it): how did you get into writing Star Wars comics? I'm not asking for advice or anything, just wondering if thereby hangs a tale. Was it through Tim Truman, who wrote a lot of the early soon-to-be-Republic stories?

My ol' buddy Tim recommended me when he was going off to work on a special project that never quite materialized. He left SW after that and i got the job of doing SW full time. Been doing it for eight years now.
I should mention I had already done work for DH so they knew me.

Hey John...
I just read #24. I was absolutely blown away. Revelations all around about Azlyn Rae and NAT FREAKIN' SKYWALKER.
I did not see the Nat thing coming. John, I just want to let you know how awesome Legacy is. You and Jan have done a wonderful job in restoring my faith in SW Comics. (actually, most of the comics Dark Horse has been involved in have been good, but yours have rocked!)
I was just sitting there reading along, enjoying the little family gathering that Cade and Co. were having, and them BAM! We find out the fate of another skywalker. It frickin' rocked.

Hello, John? I'd like to say that I'm greatly enjoying your work on Legacy. This comic book series is my favorite out of the two I'm currently into, the other being Dark Times.
Like a lot of folks, I have plenty of question regarding Legacy, but I'll stick to the one I can remember clearly. It may have been asked already, but here goes:
Is there any plans to show how Cade and Deliah first met?
Thanks again to you and Jan for this awesome series.

Hi, John! I wanted to say how much I loved #24. It's such a cliché to say that I love each issue more than the last, but it's absolutely true. I adore Bantha and his family (Syn and Ahnah's interactions are priceless; I grinned like crazy over Syn's "With deep regret for having lost that bilaberry patogga" line), and OMG, I completely did not see the whole Nat Skywalker twist coming. So. Awesome. Azlyn was great, too, and Cade's "couldn't keep her hands off me" aside and Deliah's not-so-subtle territorial marking were beautifully in character. And while I think I'm in the minority here, I actually like Cade's slight backslide. It seems very realistic. (Also, yay, Kol!)
Just fantastic writing all the way around. Thanks so much!

Thanks, Gabri. The regrets for the bilaberry patogga line actually has its beginning in what we laughingly call reality. WAAAAY back when I was in college, a young lady said the same thing to me except it was about double chocolate cakes. My response was Syn's response. The relationship with that young lady didn't go much further although my relationship with double chocolate cakes remains to this day.<g>

I suspect we will at soime point but only when it becomes relevant to the ongoing story.

I can't help grinning. That certainly is the reaction that we're hoping for although we're really not going out of our way to manufacture surprises like that.
It's part of what's fun of plopping you down in the MIDDLE of the story. There are things obviously that have been going on before you've met most of our characters and we get to spring them on you -- when the time is right.<g>
Glad you like Nat/Bantha. I do, too -- and his whole family. In fact, Micah is named for one of my cats.

That makes it even better! If by any chance the relationship didn't last due to that line, the young lady in question was quite foolish. Proper priorities and honesty are excellent qualities. jfostrander01 posted: In fact, Micah is named for one of my cats.
Micah is a fantastic cat name. I named myself after one of my cats - Gabri comes from my beloved late Gabrielle.

Hey John, when is DC going to give you a Suicide Squad ongoing again, and put you as the new writer as Checkmate?

Please don't hold your breath on that, Soontir -- I'd hate to have you die on me. <g>
Sales on the Squad mini could have been better but we'll see what happens when the tpb of it comes out -- I think Amazon has it out in August.

hey john i just wanted to say that i love everything about legacy
at first i thought it might be kinda weird, going 100 years after all the established characters, but you guys pulled it off, in more ways than one. you've created a plethora of excellently crafted and written characters whom are very easily relatable to, and the depth of the whole series amazes me issue after issue. everyone has their own agendas, and it is great to see all of the different characters interact with each other. i also have to say cade is an excellent character.
thank you for another excellent series, and keep it up

Hi John!
I commented at the time ROTS came out that I was struck while re-reading the Show of Force arc by the shot of Mace, Saesee, Kit, and Agen together, which mirrored their entrance to the Chancellor's office.
Similarly, I'm now struck by things like K'Kruhk and A'Sharad fighting together on Saleucami. I'm wondering how far back your planning for Legacy goes. Could you tell us what issues of Republic you were writing when you started working on the pitch for Legacy? Thanks!
