Hi Master! happy

I was digging around for something else, but came across this. I know I wrote in-depth comments about this one when you posted it on ff.n, but I thought I'd tell you again how wonderful this story is. happy

I love especially the way you portray Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan. happy

This was touching on so many levels. As always, your writing is both lyrical and powerful, a wonderful combination for your readers. Lovely, lovely, lovely.

I remember this. I'd read it before and I loved it, but I had to stop and read it again. I don't believe that I've given any feedback for it, so offhand, I'd say that I loved how you showed that Obi was a child, and yet not quite so young and innocent. I also enjoyed how the light bantering between Qui, Obi and Tawara showed how the three were really very comfortable around each other. I didn't quite realise at first that Tawara was of the species that had imprisoned Qui and Obi, but it clicked in my sluggish brain, eventually. I really liked the way that you portrayed the Master/Padawan relationship. I loved the way that you explained things in this fic. Because the fic fit in so well in the situation that a Jedi team could find themselves in, yet applied to earth as well, it made me stop short and think about the way that some things don't change.

Hehehe. I could rattle on a lot more about this fic, so PM or email me if you want more feedback, which I'd be glad to give, if you want it.

I always love your fics, Obaona, even if I haven't replied to your fics that I'd read earlier (possibly a year ago).

Really lovely and thoughtful story, Oba. I liked the foreshadowing to the Jedi Purge at the end of the PT. I think one of the things the PT does show is how an evil person can deceive. Also, how the public (and the Jedi are included in this one, I'm afraid) can let their own desires for power, appeasement, etc. get in the way of stopping something like this.

The personal touch you added with the character of Tawara was really nice. That anchored this story, brought the 'reality' of it, as it were, home. Twi'lek or no, the idea of a young individual dying for such a cause is really powerful. It reminds me of the eventual Rebel Alliance, and what those young people do out of courage and refusal to give in to evil. I have to wonder how these same themes might be carried off in RotS.

Anyway, lovely writing and thought provoking as usual. Your stories have a way of showing deep themes and I really like that. It's the side of Star Wars that appeals to more grown up tastes (though of course, we all love our inner child wink ). Bravo happy

I'm ecstatic at having found another one of your stories.

This one was difficult to read. Not due to your writing (which, of course, was lovely), but because of the subject matter. The parallels to the Third Reich were subtle, yet clear enough to convey the sense of fright and horror that comes when contemplating such regimes. Unfortunately, it makes perfect sense that things like that happen everywhere in the universe.

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.

And, of course, the foreshadowing of what's to come in the GFFA was chilling to say the least. No wonder poor Obi-Wan was cold almost all the time in the story. Brilliant work, oba! I enjoyed it immensely.

Oh, replies! blush

LukesTheMan: Thank you. blush I like levels! tongue

JediVeloJinn: Writing Obi-Wan in this was an interesting balance. I think it's the youngest I've ever written him, actually. tongue He is a child, and yet, I don't think the Jedi are too concerned with that childhood lasting, even if Qui-Gon is. So I think all Padawans would be a strange mixture of child and adult.

I think originally Tawara wasn't the same species that had them captured - I think I ended up editing that in early on. I suppose I was thinking of the resistance in all dictorships, that kind of thing. And I did want it to apply to Earth, as well as the GFFA then, and later on (with the Jedi Purge). I'm glad you liked the way I explained things, though, as that was one of the things I worried about being too - summary-ish, as well as the more obvious concerns. tongue

Thank you. grin I'm glad you liked the story. Just thanks! rose blush

solojones: Thank you. grin blush Foreshadowing the Jedi Purge was one of my main goals with this, but also with the last pieces of dialogue, I wanted to remind the reader of the OT, and how things are set right. Ultimately I like to think I view the world with hope, if a lot of pessimism otherwise. tongue

Tawara kind of inserted himself into the story. wink But I think he's really important to the story, because it's easy to put Jedi in a situation like this and have them get meaning out of it, but Jedi aren't the only ones who fight and die for causes in the GFFA - even at the 'golden era' of the Jedi. I'm also curious to see how ROTS handles this sort of thing.

Oddly enough, I think this was my first story where I consciously made a real effort to get a deeper, thematic meaning in. wink I'm glad you liked it, and thank you again. grin

lvk1978: Hehehe, they aren't that difficult to find, are they? tongue

It was difficult to write, in the sense you're talking about. But for some reason, I really felt that I had to write it. I adore that quote you have, and I think it's so true. I think that's a good statement to live by. It was my first signature on the boards, I believe. happy

Thank you. blush As I said to the others, that was a big point for the story. happy Thanks again! rose
