"Maul, get your little butt in here, boy, and brush your teeth! If I have to come out there and get you again I swear I'll tattoo your face red and black!"

Six-year-old Maul hated brushing his teeth. He hated doing anything his mother told him. All he wanted to do was sit out under the stars and dream about being a hero. One day he would become the greatest hero in the galaxy and everyone would love him. He got up and kicked a small rock as he opened the front door.

"That's much better, boy! Now get in there and wash up. It's bedtime. And make sure you brush every tooth this time!"

Little Maul hated brushing his teeth. Why should his mother care how his teeth looked? Nobody cared. He curled his lips back in front of the washroom mirror to expose a half rotten set of cuspids and incisors. All the kids at the Junior Academy hated him and constantly ridiculed him just because he was smaller than everyone else. What was worse was that he could not do anything right. They had just started learning how to build their own lightsabers, but he just couldn't seem to make his work like everyone else. His backfired and a second blade would shoot out through the other end. He didn't even like school. He just wanted to be a hero.

The next day at recess just outside the Academy, Maul was goofing around with his lightsaber, twirling it around. He had slowly become proficient at his misfit weapon. A boy about his age walked by, carrying an interactive Jedi action figure. The boy stopped in his tracks to observe Maul twirling and twisting his blades in two concentric circles. Maul deactivated his lightsaber.

"Can I see your action figure?" asked Maul with fascination. Maul’s mother was too poor to afford one much less care to buy one for him even if she could afford it.

"You do not need to see my action figure," came the boy's reply with a small wave of his hand.

"I do not need to see your action figure," came Maul's reply.

The boy laughed at Maul, mockingly and pointed at Maul in derision. "Boy you have a weak mind!" he taunted. He tossed his Jedi toy from hand to hand, daring Maul to keep his eye on it.

Rage filled Maul's heart and with a press of a button and a twirl of his lightsaber, he sliced the figure in half at its midsection as it flew through the air. The toy fell, as if in slow motion, to the playground in two pieces.

"NNNOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" came a blood-curdling yell from the young boy. Maul sneered with great satisfaction, deactivated his lightsaber and walked away. Heartbroken the boy stared at the ground, where both pieces lay as his master approached.

“Obi-Wan, your feelings betray you. Thoughts of revenge lead to the dark side. Come along, it is time for your exercises.”

“Yes, Master Jinn.” Little Obi-Wan Kenobi picked up both pieces and with heels dragging followed his mentor back inside.

END

That was cute. I liked that poor Maul was dreaming of being a hero and ended up.... not.

Good job.

Poor little Maul! His saber didn't work like the rest of them and it sounds like he was the outcast. Well he did become a hero, in a certain point of view wink

That was cute, Skalen!

LOL, that was a very interesting look at young Maul. shock And all he wanted was to be a hero.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm working on more humorous vignettes with other characters in the same fashion. It's a nice break from the epic that I'm currently working on. (Sneaky plug on my other story)

Thank you DarthIshtar and CodyMonKenoby. I tried to put a silly slant on why Darth Maul has tattoos and bad teeth. grin

Cute. Weird.

[shakes head]

I have trouble with these kinds of fics… Don't ask. I'm still trying to figure out what "trouble" and "these kinds" are. It was short and to the point, which is the best for them… I think. I know I like them better when they are. But then, what's one kid's opinion worth? A penny? Is it even worth that much?

Never mind me. I can be overly analytical. It drives my brother batty.

Keep writing! happy

P.S. Thanks for the help w/ the signature! I never would've guessed. wink

Thank you, Misti for the compliment. This really isn't my style of writing but I needed a little levity so I conjured up this little cracked bit of humor just to see where it would take me. happy
