He's back!!! WAHOO!!! I decided to check today to see if anyone had heard anything about him. I'm doing plenty of reading of the official saga books lately to do research into a story idea. I've started the "Legacy of the Force" series. Once it gets going, it sounds like it going to be good. Anyway, I could use a little diversion now and then from it and this would be perfect. Glad you're back JW, just make sure you keep in touch so we're not all hanging for over a year. Look forward to reading it.

Once again I apologize for not posting an update for so long. And I thank all of you that have stayed interested.
Chapter Eleven, Part One
Darth Shi’Dow sat cross-legged on the floor; back stiff, eyes shut, forearms resting on his knees as he meditated on the dark side of the Force. Breathing slow and deep, he let his conscious self go and allowed himself to be immersed in the swirling torrent. The violent flow was waiting, always waiting, just within reach and as soon as he called to it it rushed to him eagerly, filling him with sweet, intoxicating power. He drank it up and reached out for more, always more, and it came to him as quickly as he could handle it. But it wasn’t enough.
He could call upon its burning cold power quickly enough, but he couldn’t maintain the level of intensity he so desired. There were times when he would achieve great bounds forward in his abilities and these pleased him, but it was never a big enough step. Shi’Dow was never satisfied and he hated his inability to get what he wanted as soon as he wanted it. He always craved for more. He wanted nothing short of complete control and unity with the dark side, and It would accept nothing less from him. His lust for power drove him deeper, deeper. The whispers on the cool wind of the dark side promised that he could one day achieve the control he thirsted for—the ability to hold on to such tremendous power indefinitely. It promised him this, if only he gave himself more completely to its will.
Only then.
He focused his mind and energy on the darkness surrounding him and willed it to show him the possibilities of the future. Slowly, the uncontrolled fury of the dark side swirled into a blur of a thought—a mental image of a memory that had not yet come to pass. The image seemed to flow as if liquid, melding from one scene to another before he had a chance to grasp what he was seeing. He narrowed his concentration, giving himself more to the dark side, and the images slowed enough for him to discern what they held.
Usually, the things he foresaw were greatly pleasing and showed the great triumph of the Sith over the Jedi, and all who dared to oppose them. They showed him wielding incredible power and endless rows of beings cowering in fear before him. They showed the great face of the galaxy blanketed by darkness as the New Age of the Sith came to be, and he saw himself spearheading the glorious movement through his wisdom, strength, and Dark Will. They showed him being praised as a god by disciples, and his followers hanging on his every word so that they might do his bidding.
Lately, however, the images and impressions had been quite different. Disturbing. Now, a faceless being repeatedly invaded his meditations.
The presence had been faint at first, almost imperceptible. For some time it had remained at the periphery of his visions, as if unimportant. Just some background figure of no consequence, or some event too far off to take any kind of solid representation. And so, he’d paid it little mind.
But it had grown stronger over time until it took on an almost solid form.
And now, today, the faceless, hooded silhouette burst unbidden into his dark vision so that it was all he could see. Never before had it appeared so readily, so solid in form and presence. Taken aback by the intrusion, Shi’Dow was about to break off his meditations…but then he sensed something.
Steadying himself, he slowly began to prod the presence with the Force. The form exuded dark potential unlike any Darth Shi’Dow had felt! For a split second he thought the figure might be himself—that the dark potential he sensed was his own yet to be tapped, yet to be unleashed. But the whispers on the winds of the dark side quickly told him this was not so. It was not himself he was seeing, but someone else.
Someone he should be terrified of.
And then, just as suddenly as it had appeared, the being vanished without a trace.
The soft beeping of his comm. console brought Darth Shi’Dow out of his meditations and he opened his glowing, red eyes. He remained seated for several seconds, ignoring the beeping as he contemplated what had just happened. Who was this presence? What did it’s intrusions into his meditations mean? What of the powerful potential it held?
His first impulse was to contact his Master and tell him what had just happened—but, he repressed that right away. He would not be that weak, that feeble-minded. For he knew that the sudden urge to tell his Master, Lord Furia, everything was a trick of the dark side, was the power a Master has over his Apprentice.
As it does every Sith, it had taken Shi’Dow decades to recognize the impulse for what it was—control of his mind by his Master. Not merely conditioning or a form of brainwashing, but literal control. Through the dark side, there is much a Master does to physically meld an Apprentice’s mind. The Master’s dark fingers weave laces of thoughts, of impulses throughout.
On his journey to supplanting his Master and achieving an Apprentice of his own, each Sith must first discover the reason and source of this control, then learn how to overcome it, and then, finally, learn how to use it on another in order to become a Master himself. Of course, all this (and so much more!) must be learned and applied without the knowledge of the Master. For if the Master discovers he is losing control of his Apprentice he will dispose of him because of the threat this poses to his own power, and to his own life.
Such is the twisted struggle between Master and Apprentice. Secrecy. Subterfuge. Manipulation. Betrayal.
Murder.
It is the way of the dark side. It is the way to ensure only the strongest survive to pass on their knowledge and power.
It is the way of the Sith.
Shi’Dow got up and walked to the holo unit sitting on a tripod in the corner of the room, fully expecting it to be his Master. Had his Master sensed what he’d just encountered in his meditations? Had he seen it himself? Would his Master test him to see if he would tell him what he’d seen? Or had his Master merely sensed that something had happened and was contacting him to see what it was?
Shi’Dow knew that his own abilities were great enough now that with his Master thousands of light years away he could lie to him without fear of detection. But if they were closer, he wasn’t so certain. Maybe. But if they were in the same room….
A shiver ran down Shi’Dow’s spine at the thought.
He reached out and activated the holo display. He was surprised, and relieved, at who’s image materialized.
“What is it, Darth Siv?” he asked, an edge in his tone.
Siv’s flickering, blue-white image gave a small scowl as he folded his arms across his chest. The two of them had never gotten along. Not that there were actually any friends amongst the Sith ranks, but the animosity between these two was especially thick. Sharing the same Master seemed to do that to Sith.
Through clenched teeth, Darth Siv said, “Because our Master wishes it so, I am required to report to you. Why, I cannot fathom.”
“Because I am your superior. That’s why,” Shi’Dow responded matter-of-factly.
Siv stiffened, his scowl deepening, his lips curling back over his yellow teeth in anger.
“Report,” Shi’Dow said, growing impatient of the game.
Siv glared a handful of seconds longer, then said, “We’ve had an incident here at the forward-positioned base. Someone infiltrated the planet, then escaped into hyperspace.”
Though he was fairly certain he already knew the answer to the question, Shi’Dow asked, “And do you have any idea as to who this intruder was?”
Siv ignored his tone. “I was able to get an MTD attached to the ship before it escaped. We are tracking it now. It appears to be headed for Jardonian space.”
Darth Shi’Dow’s eyes narrowed in anger. It was the Rogue Jedi from Jardon. He was becoming far too great a nuisance.
“I have already dispatched ships from nearby systems to attempt to intercept the ship before it can reach—“
“Call them back,” Shi’Dow ordered. Sasha was already en route to Jardon. He would have her discover what this boy had seen and how much he knew.
“You don’t seem to understand. There’s more,” Siv said, his tone grave.
Shi’Dow tilted his head slightly to the side. He could sense whatever it was, it wasn’t good. “Go on…,” he seethed.
“We found a Dark Priestess dead. In the Temple.”
Shi’Dow’s fists clenched in anger, shock spreading through his body. “Fool! Do you realize what you’ve done?!” Shi’Dow exclaimed.
Rage spread across Darth Siv’s face. “This was not my fault, Shi’Dow! Don’t you dare accuse me of failure! My men will intercept the ship and destroy it before the pilot can tell anyone anything.”
Shi’Dow called out to the dark side, seeking insight, seeking knowledge, and finding it. “It is already too late. I can sense it,” he said, staring daggers at Siv’s blue-white image.
Siv eyed him curiously for a heartbeat, then turned his attention to something off-screen. The blip that was the tracking device had slowed considerably. Siv checked the coordinates and said, “The ship has just exited hyperspace in the Jardon System.”
“As I said, it’s already too late. You’ve failed, Siv. And now the Jardon know that the Mandalores are responsible for the missing children.”
“They do not know of our involvement. They do not know of the Sith,” Siv pointed out, desperate to save some vestige of his honor.
“Yet,” Shi’Dow said. Before Darth Siv could respond, he continued, saying, “We must contact Lord Furia to see what should be done. Because of you, I am going to have to experience his…displeasure, as well.”
Siv puffed out his chest, raised his chin in defiance. “I should be reporting to him, and him alone, in the first place! Not to you!”
Darth Shi’Dow eyed him with narrowed slits, then with a dismissive flip of his hand deactivated the holo-display through the Force. Then, steeling himself, he stepped forward and dialed in Lord Furia’s transmission code.
He must shield his thoughts. He must protect his secret that he was beginning to break his Master’s bonds.
…And he must protect his knowledge of this being with such great dark potential he’d seen through the Force.

I had to temporarily suspend my self imposed exhile so that I could say thank you.
JW, what you do here... to me at least, is PURE Star Wars. No agenda, no money, no hype... just a love of the saga. I appreciate being able to read your work.
In words of Jeff Spicoli, you are: "TOTALLY-AWESOME!"
Thanks again.
