Dear Reader,
Thanks for coming in to check this fic out! You have no idea how much I appreciate having readers! If you could let me know what you think, that would be totally awesome, and, of course, constructive critism is always welcome.
This story is the second of a series of four, and if you haven't read A Soul's Torment yet, you might want to, because it gives you more background. The series is actually a re-post of a series of three I did, back when I first joined the boards. If you want to read them, the links are in my bio, but be forewarned, they stink majorly, and it gives away some important plot points. I have changed some of my plot though, in some major ways, so the story is now slightly differant, and, I hope, better.
Well, this intro is basically over, so I will post the first part, and hopefully will have some readers by the time the weekend is over!

The night after A Soul’s Torment finished…
Kimei was dreaming again.
So scared….
But this dream is different…
The dark hand appears again, but it doesn’t fight me. I know better this time, I will not kill the handsome young man.
Instead the dark hand hovers and I feel my throat constrict. It is not from fear, but the hand is choking me.
It starts to drag me to the pit.
The Pit.
I peer over the edge and manage to see dark shapes, bones, dead people, dancing around in a horrid dance, just before I am cast among them.
My body falls slowly, so I can see the tormented faces of the people chained to The Pit’s walls.
I land, or so it seems. But maybe I just stopped falling.
I look up to see the dark hand become a body, and the head is a black helmet. Raspy breathing fills my ears and I realize it isn’t my own. I look up and see a youngling. One that arrived only a few days ago, after the fight on Naboo. He was barely accepted.
He would go dark?
I have to stop him, so I climb. Against my will, and the wills of those in the Pit. They use their putrid death hands to drag me down by anything they can grab hold of. It’s raining acid this time, and I feel it eating away at my young skin.
I look down at myself, and find that my skin isn’t young, and I am an old woman. I feel arthritis creeping through my limbs, and I bend to relieve the pain.
Somehow I am hovering above the Pit. The shadow comes towards me, and I realize I am the one moving.
The acid becomes one solid sheet, and I can no longer see through my blinded eyes.
It is dark.
I despair.
I feel hands… hands coming around my waist, and I turn and see the dark man, not the shadow but the man…. who abused me.
I shriek and try to run, but he chases me, shouting slanders at my turned back. I stop. I have to face him. I have to kill him.
Rage overcomes me, and I whirl, lightsaber extended. Soon he is dead, and the young man appears in his place. The sky turns purple, and tears fall again.
I have killed him again.
How long will this go on?
I am choked with tears and rage.
I cannot breathe.

RE: A Soul's Journey

…..
Kimei bolted upright in bed, tears flowing down her cheeks, terrified, and her hands at her throat.
’It was only a dream. Only a dream.’
She fought for breath, but her lungs just kept constricting. Slowly, she felt for the Force, and used it to calm her body down, but her mind was impossible to tame.
It always had been, and it always would be.
Until death took her.
But why wait until she didn’t want to die? Why have someone else kill her in a manner that she couldn’t choose? Why not end it now?
Kimei flipped her feet over the edge of the sleepcouch and padded over to her shelf. It contained only two objects. Her lightsaber, and a wood-carving, given to her by one of the old masters.
Her hand reached for her lightsaber.
Slowly she pulled it towards her, until it’s end was level with her heart. She pressed down the activation pad, and….
This was it. If she released her hand now, she would be free. Her heart would melt in the cold heat, and she would die, not even bleeding, for her lightsaber would cauterize her wound.
So simple, so fast, so clean.
So scary.
What was on the other side of death?
What would happen to her?
What would they do with her body?
Kimei paused. //What about her master?//
She would like to think that her master would be sad, but if her master truly cared, why wasn’t she here, now?
Her lightsaber was knocked out of her hand, and held in midair, where it ignited. Kimei felt a pang of regret. That would have been her death… if only she hadn’t hesitated….
She turned, and saw Ashinta standing there, hand outstretched, to hold the lightsaber up.
Ashinta turned off the lightsaber, and, with a wave of her hand, put it back on the shelf.
“Why?” her voice broke the stillness, like fragile glass.
Kimei knelt on the floor, tears streaming down her face. Slowly her eyes closed, and she began reciting.
“Every night I lie awake
Trying not to fall asleep
Falling into dreams of shadows
From where hideous monsters leap
The dreams and nightmares drag me down
Until I feel like death
And I fear I will not awake
Or ever catch my breath
In terror I stare out my window
Hoping and praying for dawn
But it’s so far away, I’m afraid I won’t last
For I fear that my mind has gone….”
Her voice trailed off, and she didn’t finish the poem.
Ashinta stared at her for a moment. “Padawan.”
Kimei looked up at her. “I can’t help it, Master. The words are my only way out. The only way to express myself. After everything with Master Semidu, my mind is crumbling. It’s only a matter of time before I go crazy or….. or I kill myself.”
Ashinta wrapped her arms around Kimei. “I will help you through this. I’ve gone through it all myself.” She turned so that their faces were inches apart, and the tears in both of their eyes shone in the moonlight. “We will overcome it.”
Kimei buried her face in Ashinta’s shoulder. “Thank you, Master.”
“Thank you so much.”

I haven't posted anything there, but I have gone through and read all of A Soul's Torment. Very good work, just like A Soul's Journey. I'm looking forward to more!

*****
Several hours later….
Ashinta strode down the hall, to the Jedi Council chambers.
She stopped for a minute, feeling the nervousness that she always felt whenever she was summoned to the Council.
‘So ironic.’ she thought. ‘No matter how often I go down this path, I always feel the same way.’
She reached the end of the hall and touched the activation plate.
The door slid open, revealing the Jedi council, or part of it anyway.
Yoda was there, always there it seemed. Master Windu was there. He must have gotten back from his mission. Then there was Plu Koon and Adi Gallia.
Yoda was the one she wanted to talk to anyway. She entered and bowed.
The council members nodded back to her.
Yoda looked at her. “Have something to tell us you do. Please begin.”
Ashinta turned to the small, but powerful master, inclining her head respectfully. “Master Yoda. Kimei has been dreaming again. Nightmares. If you recall, I told you several weeks ago, when she first became my padawan, that I sensed these dreams.
“However, last night it felt different, and the Force told me to go check on her. I found her about to commit suicide.”
Mace Windu stood. “We believe your padawan is dreaming because of the strange disturbances in the Force we have been sensing lately. How long has she been having these dreams?”
Ashinta looked at him. “At least since I accepted her as my padawan, probably some time before that, even.”
Adi Gallia turned from the window where she was looking out. “That isn’t good. It either means our theory is incorrect, or the disturbances have been going on longer than we’ve sensed ourselves. Your padawan is very sensitive, but we didn’t think she was more so that Master Yoda.”
Ashinta nodded. “Neither did I, but yes, she is extremely sensitive. She usually senses things before I do, whether in meditation or sparring exercises. We have not yet gone on any missions, but I believe that she would be more sensitive that me there as well. I have to admit, it is unnerving at times.”
Yoda looked up at her with wise eyes. “Unnerved you should not be. Your padawan she is, learn from you she still does.”
Ashinta looked down at her feet. “I know Master Yoda, but sometimes, I feel unworthy, inexperienced. Often, she tells me things, instructing me, instead of me teaching her.”
“If had those feelings you did not, worry then we would. Always the teacher may learn from the student, and if does not, the teacher, time for the padawan to become a knight it is.” Yoda replied.
Ashinta took a step back. “But we are talking about my padawan, not me. I did not mean to go off topic.”
Yoda turned away from Ashinta and seemed to be remembering something from the past. “One and the same they are, when strong, the bond of the force is. Strong bond has Kimei with you. Why you can prevent her from harm it is.”
Ashinta nodded. “Thank you, Master Yoda. But why did you summon me?”
Yoda shuffled back to his seat and sat down, apparently activating a program simultaneously.
A holo of a planet appeared in the middle of the room. Naboo.
“Sent a Knight to this planet we did. Drelinna Cheara her name was. Gone missing she has, and worried we are. Send you and your padawan to find and help her we will.”
Ashinta slowly walked around the holo, examining it. “When are we to leave?”
Master Windu was the one to reply. “As soon as possible. Go get your padawan now.”
