Chapter 1

The sun began to set on the nameless planet, casting an orange hue on the sparkling water. The celebration had been going on all day. Star fighters flew overhead, constantly shooting out fireworks of different colors, bon-fires erupted as all sorts of different kinds of food cooked to feed the masses, and the Elders and Jedi Council were meeting to discuss their new role in the Republic. Hours earlier the galaxy had been teetering on the brink of utter darkness, and if it hadn’t been for the valiant effort of the crew of the Ebon Hawk the galaxy might be under the rule of Darth Malak and the Sith.

The leader of this brave group now sat alone on the beach watching the bright orb of the sun melt into the water. It had taken great effort to slip away from everyone, especially after the award ceremony. All the Republic brass had wanted to take credit for the redemption of the once Sith Lord, now savior of the galaxy. Luckily the Jedi Council had kept their distance, sensing that events on the Star Forge had taken its toll on the redeemed Jedi.

Revan took a deep breath as memories from her confrontation with Malak once again came flooding back. They had once been the deepest of friends and it was because of her that he was now gone. She closed her eyes in a failed attempt to block Malak’s dying face from her mind.

“There you are,” the young voice of Mission broke the stillness of the early evening. “Everyone’s been looking for you.”

Revan slowly stood, dusting the sand off her robe. “I guess trying to get some piece and quiet is out of the question.”

“Who would want to have piece and quiet on a night like this,” Mission asked as she threw up her hands.

Revan laughed. “I don’t know.” She paused looking out over the water. “I guess I don’t feel like celebrating.”

“You feeling ok?” Mission’s sudden concern was touching.

“I’m fine, just wanted to get away for a moment,” Revan smiled.

“You sure?” she asked.

“Positive.” Revan then noticed Zaalbar trying to hide in the brush. “And will you tell Zaalbar I’m not going anywhere so he can stop watching me like I’m about to run away.”

Mission glanced over her shoulder and smiled. “Come on Big Z, let’s get some food.”

Revan watched their retreating forms only to see a new pair approaching her. Canderous and HK-47, both still toting their favorite guns and looking lost in all the peace and jubilation. Revan could still feel Canderous’s conflicting emotions regarding his future but she knew her crew would be together for at least the time being, which would help keep him busy. They may have defeated Malak, but a large number of his forces had escaped and it would take some time to find them all.

“You trying to scare everyone by disappearing,” Canderous snarled but then cracked a smile.

“Is it working?” Revan asked as she took a seat on one of the rocks.

“Of course,” Canderous said. “I think you might have started rumors of your fall already.”

Revan chuckled, “On the same day I save the galaxy and slay my friend, I decide it’s all not worth it and go back to the Sith. Nice. Who should I thank for starting that one?”

“Statement: Master, I do believe several meatbags misinterpreted my statement about how you were taking the death of your former apprentice,” the assassin droid said in his usual matter of fact tone.

“What’s a party without rumors, right?” Revan said as she looked down at her hands.

“There was nothing you could have done,” Canderous said quietly.

“I know,” she said while looking out over the sea. “It still doesn’t make the pain go away.”

“No,” Canderous echoed. “It doesn’t.”

“We still have a lot of work to do,” Revan eyed the Mandalorian. “I was hoping to keep the crew together until we round up the rest of Malak’s forces.”

“If you’re leading, I’ll follow.”

“We can leave the war but the warrior will never leave us,” Revan smiled wistfully.

“Yeah,” Canderous whispered. “HK, why don’t you stay here and keep any more party goers from bothering your Master.”

Before HK could come up with a witty statement Revan spoke. “Thanks HK. I have my com in case the person is persistent.” She turned to Canderous, “Thank you.”

With out another word Revan turned and headed down the beach. Finding a large boulder she walked behind it and slid back down to the sand, resting against the rock. Closing her eye she let the sound of the water crashing onto the beach relax her.

“Query: Master,” HK’s voice came over the com.

“Son of a Sith,” Revan cursed before answering. “Yeah?”

“Amused statement: The meatbag who you’ve grown fond of is insisting on seeing you.”

“He has a name HK.” Revan rolled her eyes. “Go ahead and let him through.”

Once again she closed her eyes and waited for Carth to make some smart-ass comment, which of course he did once he was standing next to her.

“A droid patrolling a random section of beach isn’t suspicious at all,” Carth smirked.

Revan couldn’t suppress a giggle as she rolled onto her stomach and peeked around the boulder to see HK’s head whip in all directions, blaster up and ready for anything. She rolled back to find Carth offering his hand to help her up. Taking it Revan pulled her self up and suddenly found herself only inches from Carth.

“I thought you might be hiding in the Ebon Hawk,” he breathed.

“Couldn’t,” Revan paused, trying to catch her breath. “T3 has locked the ship so no curious Republic soldiers can wander in.”

“Too bad,” the gleam in his eye caused Revan’s heart to race. “I was thinking we could find a place to talk.”

“I thought you were a man of action Captain,” Revan grinned at him playfully.

“Normally I am.” His eyes darted down as he took her hands. “But we’ve got something.”

“What do we have?” Revan asked.

“I dunno, but I sure as hell want to find out,” his voice was tight.

“I do too,” Revan whispered. “But you have to be patient with me Carth. I don’t know the first thing about – ”

Her words were cut off as Carth captured her lips with his. Letting him guide the movement Revan felt a surge of excitement course through her as they explored each other mouths. Revan never wanted this feeling to end, and she let her hands weave their way through his hair.

“I’m sorry to interrupt,” Bastila's cool voice caused both Carth and Revan to jump. “But Admiral Dodonna is looking for you, Carth.”

“Duty calls,” he said, kissing Revan’s hand. “We’ll talk more later.”

Revan watched him for a moment before turning her attention to Bastila. “Where have you been hiding?”

“I was about to ask you the same thing,” Bastila refused to look at Revan.

“Just wanted to be alone for a moment.” Revan watched her friend carefully, sensing through their bond that something was troubling the Jedi.

“Obviously,” Bastila snorted.

“Hey,” Revan walked around the boulder and stared at her companion. “What’s the matter with you?”

“I’m sorry,” Bastila slumped her shoulders and finally looked Revan in the eye. “I don’t know what’s wrong with me.”

“You’re scared,” Revan said with apprehension. “I feel it.”

Bastila turned away from Revan, “I’ve come accustomed to being able to lean on you for support. But now that Malak is defeated you have no need of me.”

“What are you talking about?” Revan came up behind the Jedi and placed a calming hand on her shoulder. “Bastila, I owe you my life, my soul! If it weren’t for you I would have died as a Sith Lord. You gave me a second chance to make amends for everything I’ve done.”

“You’ve already made amends,” Bastila turned to Revan.

“No,” she said sternly. “I still have much to atone for, and until we find the rest of Malak’s fleet I will not rest.” Revan paused. “It’d be much easier if I had you by my side.”

Bastila’s face lit up as a small smile spread across her face. “Do you mean that?”

“No, I’m just saying it so you’ll leave me alone,” Revan teased.

“Cheeky,” Bastila mumbled.

Revan winked before grabbing Bastila’s hand and pulling her down the beach. “Come on, Ms. Serious. The nights still young and you’re gonna have fun even if it kills me.”

The two friends rejoined the celebration and partied with their fellow crewmembers into the early morning, unaware that their journey together had just begun.

Very nicely written! I like how you show she feels some emotion for Malak's death. Too many people gloss over that in LS Revan fics. Can't wait to see more! happy

YES! Another female Revan fic! And by an H/L shipper, no less!

I love this chapter, and I will defiantly be sticking with this fic. Revan is great, and I agre with Sabyne, you dealt nicely with the emotion of the day. I was just waiting for Carth to show up. Their romance is also extremely sweet, and I love how you're using the imagry and such here. Bastila isn't being a total witch either, which some people can overdo sometimes. Terrific!

Heh, I forgot about this pet peeve of mine. I just can't stand witchy Bastila. She never really struck me as such in the game. A bit haughty at times, yes, stressed, definitely. But never a witch.

I'll be looking forward to more.

Certainly not obviously AU to me! tongue

Ok, my interest is piqued. I know nothing about KOTOR but I'm dying to learn. You've done a great job of introducing the characters without a bunch of unnecessary descriptions! I already like them all and Revan has definitely intrigued me. Other than Vader, I don't know of any Sith turning from the dark side. Since I'm big on that topic, I'm dying to learn more!

Great job, Leah!!

WynssaStarflare - Great start! I love your descriptions; the background information was great -- blush Thank you for reading.

SabyneAmberle - Very nicely written! I like how you show she feels some emotion for Malak's death. Too many people gloss over that in LS Revan fics. Can't wait to see more! -- Though she can't remember him completely I think Revan was deeply effected by Malak's death. Especially at the end with Malak makes the point "What if our roles had been reversed?"

Chapter 2

The pounding in her head was the first thing Bastila was aware off when she finally became conscious the next day. The lights in the crew quarters were still dimmed as she rolled out of bed. Juhani was curled up in a ball in the far corner of her bunk while Mission looked like she would fall out of bed at any moment. Bastila contemplated giving her a Force nudge, but recent events came flooding back to her. Ashamed that she had let the Dark Side corrupt her, Bastila quickly grabbed her robes and moved to the fresher.

She let the hot water wash over her as the memories continued to assault her mind: being tortured by Malak for hours on end, feeling the power which coursed through her when she finally gave in to the darkness, and the look on Revan’s face when they confronted each other on the roof of the ancient temple. Bastila’s thoughts shifted. Revan had been so strong on the Star Forge, refusing to give up on her and helping to bring her back to the light. Suddenly, the Jedi realized that she hadn’t thanked Revan properly for everything she had done.

A half an hour later, she was wandering around the ship, trying to find her friend. Bastila could hear the faint snoring of Canderous in the guys’ quarters. Both T3 and HK were in sleep mode in the lounge. Bastila’s eyes drifted towards the main cabin, wondering whether or not Carth was in there with Revan. The very thought caused Bastila to become suddenly upset. Confused by this, Bastila just shook her head and walked over to release the ramp.

The salt air tickled her nose as she exited the ship. Zaalbar had set up a hammock on a set of trees close to the ship. The Wookiee was gently swinging in the breeze. Bastila smiled at how peaceful he looked.

She felt a faint flicker in the Force, which caused her to close her eyes and focus for a moment. Revan wasn’t in the ship, but she was close by. Bastila turned to the ancient temple and saw Revan and Jolee on the roof pointing to things off in the distance. She slowly made her way over to the temple, trying to avoid the soldiers who were passed out by the dying embers of the fires. Finally stepping into the sunlight, Bastila had to put up a hand to shield her eyes, which were extra sensitive. She made her way up to the entrance of the temple, but she hesitated to proceed in. This had been the place where her demons began; she put her hand on the door put quickly pulled it back. Luckily, Revan and Jolee appeared moments later.

“But I thought you had decided to keep your new name,” Jolee asked as they exited the massive structure. “Oh, Bastila, didn’t see you there.”

Jolee paused and noticed she didn’t look so good. “Ahh haa . . . I see someone is experiencing their first hangover. I gotta say I was impressed with how much you put back last night.”

“My first what?” Bastila asked as her stomach began to feel uneasy.

“Hangover,” Revan smiled. “When you drink a lot, the next day you pay for it.”

“Do you have hangovers?” Bastila asked as her hand slowly reached for her stomach.

“Do I look like a cadet right out of the academy?” Jolee snapped. “I learned how to hold my ale before I could hold a saber.”

“So right before we met you on Kshyyyk,” Revan smirked.

“Cute,” Jolee grumbled. “I’m gonna make some caf – I’ll bring it out when it’s done.”

“Come on. Lets go for a walk,” Revan cheerfully said.

“I really don’t feel like moving at the moment,” Bastila complained.

She closed her eyes hoping to make the growing tension in her stomach disappear. Without warning, she felt Revan place a hand on her back and begin to guide her down the long entrance of the temple.

“I’m guessing you’ve never had that much to drink before,” Revan said.

“No,” Bastila whispered.

“Well,” Revan chuckled, “there is a first time for everything.”

Bastila tried to smile but she felt the contents of her stomach begin to move. She quickly ran for the closest tree, holding it for support she bent over and vomited. Luckily, Revan had followed and was now holding her hair back. After a minute or two, everything seemed to calm down.

“Better?” Revan asked as Bastila straightened up.

“Surprisingly, yes,” the Jedi said. “Have you ever been hung over?”

“I dunno,” Revan said as a thoughtful expression passed over her. “I can’t remember.”

“I’m sorry I didn’t mean to – ”

“Don’t worry – I’ve come to realize I’ll be experience a lot for the first time . . . again,” Revan laughed. “If that even makes sense.”

Bastila smiled in amazement at how her friend was so willing to just let go and move on. “I never thanked you properly for what you did on the Star Forge.”

“Don’t just thank me. Everyone was working to get you back.”

“I know but . . . ” Bastila glanced up at Revan. “It was you who brought me back.”

Revan tenderly placed a hand on her arm, “I owed you one.”

“Enough with the ‘you saved my life’ comments,” Jolee barked as he approached with several cups of caf. “It’s enough to make a grown man sick.”

“What if I thank you for saving my life, Jolee?” Bastila snickered as she took a cup from him.

“That’s a different story,” Jolee said coyly. “Besides, this sorry excuse for a Jedi,” Jolee motioned to Revan, “Wouldn’t have made it past the first deck if it hadn’t been for Juhani and me.”

Revan forcefully pulled the cup out of Jolee’s hand. “If I recall correctly, I had to use Force Heal on you quit a bit.”

“That’s because I was fighting,” Jolee said with a sly smile. “Not sitting back and watching the show.”

He took a sip of caf. “Now, before I had to go play nursemaid you were telling me about keeping your name.”

“I thought you said you weren’t Revan any more?” Bastila asked.

“I’m not that Revan anymore but . . . ” her eye cast downwards. “No matter where I go, people still know me as Revan. If I’m trying to show that I’ve changed, I might as well keep the name so that its meaning will change too.”

“A lot of things will change once we leave here,” Jolee said solemnly. “We’ll all have the burdens of the galaxy on us. Heroes – bah!”

“The Jedi Council will want to meet with us back on Coruscant,” Bastila added.

“Oh great,” Jolee grumbled.

“Hopefully the Elders can work towards uniting the rest of its species.” Revan looked out over the cliff. “I will definitely try and come back some day.”

“Oh? Why’s that?” Jolee asked.

“There’s a peace to this place now,” Revan mused. “It’s untouched by all the corruption and nonsense of the rest of the galaxy, a little more simplistic then Alderaan.”

“Alderaan?”

Before Bastila could push the subject a very young solider came running up to them. “Pardon me, Master Jedi, but Admiral Dodanna wants the fleet to prepare for departure. We’re heading back to Coruscant.”

The trio headed back to the ship to wake the rest of the crew and get the Ebon Hawk ready to dock with Admiral Dodanna’s flagship.

--

Several hours later, Revan was walking the large halls of the Republic’s flag ship Unity. Of course, she would get gawked at by everyone she passed, something she’d have to get use to. Lost in her thoughts when she entered the large briefing room, Revan looked up to see her entire crew assembled together. Each of them had found a friend, or brought one along with them. Revan stopped and watched them a moment as they continued to talk. Canderous and Jolee seemed to be having a fun discussion as both men broke out into laughter, while Zaalbar, Mission and Juhani looked as though they were comparing different fighting styles.

One thing did catch Revan’s eye though. There seemed to be some small tension between Carth and Bastila. Granted, it looked as though they had saved a space for her to sit between them. Revan couldn’t complete her thoughts as Canderous shouted to her.

“Revan! Over here.”

All activity in the room stopped as everyone now stared at the Jedi standing by the entrance. She gave a nervous smile as she took a tentative step into the large room. Whispers of her name began to float around as Revan continued to slowly enter. She looked across the room to her crew but the holo-projection had turned on and she could only see them through the faint blue and greens of the planet. Something about the way Carth and Basitla looked caused her to stop dead in her tracks.

REVAN NO!

Images began to form as she continued to stare at her two friends. It was Carth’s voice she heard screaming. She could see him looking down at her and holding out his hand for her to grab.

PLEASE DON’T DO THIS!

Now it was Bastila who was kneeling down trying to get Revan to grab hold of her hand. Revan was hanging on to something just out of Bastila’s reach. She looked down and saw a growing darkness coming towards them. Revan knew she had to let go and fight the darkness before it attacked her friends. She looked back up and saw Carth and Bastila both trying to grab her.

I’m sorry, but I have to protect you.

Revan said to them just before letting go.

Soon she was swallowed by the darkness. It was suffocating and painful. She felt her limbs spasm and her chest tighten as she fell deeper and deeper. Just before giving up, she saw a light. Fighting through the darkness, Revan was able to grab hold of the light.

“Get a medic!”

The faint cries of people were the first thing Revan heard as her lungs once again filled with air. She bolted up right as she gasped heavily; her vision was clearing and she saw that she was sitting on the ground. Confused, she looked around and saw that everyone was gathered around her, but she couldn’t find a familiar face. Scared and panicked, Revan tried to stand.

“You really shouldn’t stand right now,” a person said as they pushed her shoulder to get her to sit back down.

“We need to get you to the medical bay,” another person said.

“I-I don’t want to go to the medical bay. I’m fine,” Revan softly said.

“Master Jedi, just sit back.”

“Please leave me alone,” Revan growled as she pushed the person’s hand away.

“We’re only trying to help.”

“I know – just please,” Revan stammered as she tried to stand.

“A vision,” the voice of Master Vandar caused Revan to halt.

The two Jedi eyed each other for a moment, both sensing the need to remain quiet in front of such a large group.

“Move out of the way,” Canderous barked as he shoved his way through the crowd.

He bent down and pulled Revan up then slapped her on the back, almost sending her back down to the ground.

“See?” Canderous smirked. “She’s fine. Now stop staring and sit down.”

Canderous began to guide Revan through the crowd, which was beginning to disperse. The rest of the crew was finally able to get to her. Of course, Carth and Bastila led the way.

Revan took Carth’s hand and gave it a small squeeze. “I’m fine.”

She then turned to Bastila and used the Force to calm her friend’s fears. Yet she could still feel Bastila watching her closely throughout the meetings, as did Carth. Once the meeting was over, Revan quickly got up and left without saying a word to her friends. Sensing her fellow Jedi were trying to follow her through the Force, Revan shielded herself and quickly ducked down several corridors. Finally, she entered the droid servicing center and found HK and T3 in the back corner.

“Statement: Master, I’m surprised that several of these meatbags have the talent to repair and service me.”

Revan just shook her head in amusement before sitting down on the ground next to T3. She patted the small droid on the dome and pulled her knees to her chest. She had focused so hard on the mission and stopping Malak she had never thought about life after. Her thoughts then went to the vision. She was going to have to leave – leave her new family, and the only group who will ever truly know her. Somehow she had known this, but deep down, she felt there was something that she still needed to fight, some evil of some kind, but her mind would not help her.

“Troubled you seem, shaken by this vision no doubt,” Vandar suddenly appeared, standing right in front of the Jedi Knight.

“I’m afraid there is something much more evil out there, something I encountered,” Revan said as she began to focus on a gear of T3’s. “But I can’t remember.”

“Feel this threat do you?” Vander ask as he leaned on his stick.

“Yes.” She couldn’t suppress her surprise at the Jedi Master’s insight. “Just when I think I can figure it out, it slips away. The more I concentrate on it, the harder it becomes.”

“Dwell on this you should not; come to you it will. When the time is right,” the small Jedi tried to comfort the girl. “More pressing matters to attend to, we have.”

“Finding the rest of Malak’s fleet,” Revan said with determination.

“Face the council you must,” Vandar cautiously said.

Revan’s face quickly changed and she became defensive, “Why? What do they want?”

Vandar’s grim expression did not ease Revan’s fears about facing the group. “Believe, they want to, in your redemption.”

“Do you believe?” Revan looked the Jedi right in the eye.

A small smile crept onto his small face. “Believe in you, I always have. Even when you fell.”

Revan let out a breath she didn’t even realize she was holding. Returning Vandar’s smile she reached out and put her hand on top of his. “Thank you.”

First reply! happy

Bastila with a hangover... heh. It's obvious now that you're going to be fllowing canon and having Revan leave- an outcome I've never liked, but what is canon is canon. The vision part was interesting- the writing was very vivid, and the dreamlike quality was there as one read. You could sense the change between the real world and the world of the vision wherever it may be. Thank you for the PM too!

Great job! I loved the hangover part; it was great! The droid was hilarious! That vision doesn't look too optimistic....
