RE: The Truth Shall Set You Free (Obi-Qui AU) Updated 5/4!
I love hurt comfort stories. Obi-Wan certainly has some inner demons to fight. That he's fighting the restraints and appears to be terrified of them does not bode well for what he's had to go through with his dead Master. Plus the padawans think that he's in the healer's ward a lot. Not good.
I love that Qui-Gon is so persistant.
This was chilling.
Obi-Wan shook his head as he licked his parched lips. “No, that’s where you’re wrong. I have no fight left in me. There’s nothing left to fight for.” The young Jedi closed his eyes as he tried to block out the sounds of the healer’s wing. He wanted to find some place safe, but he had learned over the years that there was no where that he could hide that made him completely safe. He had not even been allowed to retreat in the depths of his mind for comfort. He was always followed and forced back to the reality he had tried to escape from.
Great job. Looking forward to more.

Oh, Obi-Wan is hiding something! It really looks like he didn't have a very close relationship with him master if breaking any bond between them didn't affect him much. Or maybe breaking the bond was an improvement for Obi-Wan, if there was one at all? Maybe this was not such a nice master after all? Qui-Gon will have to find some way to break through Obi-Wan's noble silence.

Thanks for spotting that typo. I can't believe I let that one slip through the cracks. Anyway, thanks again and I appreciate you taking the time to read.
Healer Leona:
Thank you! I'm so honored that you are reading my story!
dianthex:
Yes, Qui-Gon is very persistant! Thank you for reading!
ardavenport:
I'm sure that if anyone can break through to Obi, it will be Qui-Gon. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Part 4
Garen and Bant quietly slipped into Obi-Wan’s room. They were surprised to see Master Yoda climbing off the bed of their friend. They each bowed, showing their respect as Yoda approached them.
“Good that you have come, it is. Needs his friends, he does.”
“Master Yoda, how is he? Is he going to be okay? We saw Master Jinn in the hallway and he said that Obi killed Master Elad. Is that true? What’s going to happen to Obi?” Bant was anxious for answers to her questions. She hoped with all her heart that the Jedi master could provide them.
“One question at a time, young Bant. Answer them I will.” Glancing back at the sleeping youth, Yoda sighed. His eyes contained a sadness that the Force seemed to echo. “Resting he is. Tired his spirit is. Killed his master, he has confessed to.”
“There has to be some explanation!” exclaimed Garen. “Master Yoda, you know as well as I do, Obi couldn’t do that. Even with everything that…” The padawan abruptly stopped his tirade with when he felt Bant gently nudge him.
This action did not go unnoticed by the Jedi master as he studied the two padawans. He easily sensed that they were trying to hide something. Yoda decided to allow Master Jinn to handle the two friends because Qui-Gon always needed in a lesson or two in patience. “Discover the truth we must. Anything you know of the matter, tell Master Jinn you will. Remember, his friends you are. Help him you must, even if Obi-Wan does not wish it. Meditate I will. Take my leave of you I will, but remember what I said, you must.” Yoda left Bant and Garen alone with their friend.
They moved to stand on either side of the bed. Bant and Garen each took one of Obi-Wan’s hands. Bant leaned over to straighten Obi-Wan’s padawan braid as she had done many times before when he had been in the healer's wing. However, this time the braid was not there. Where the braid should have been, there was nothing but a tangled taft of hair. ~Oh Obi, what happened?~ She looked up at Garen, her eyes searching for an understanding that would not come. “Garen, what are we going to do? There’s no way we’re going to get out of telling Master Jinn. He already suspects we know something or he wouldn’t want to talk to us.”
“I know. We should have done something earlier—maybe it wouldn’t have gotten this far.”
“No…not your fault.” A barely audible whisper came from the figure in the bed. Obi-Wan opened his eyes to the sight of his two closest friends. He had heard snippets of their conversation and realized that they were talking about him. He would not allow his friends to wallow in misplaced guilt for something that he had asked them to do. Bant and Garen had always remained by his side, even when he hadn’t deserved their friendship. He had been allowed very little time to see his friends over the past few years. Master Elad had frowned upon Obi-Wan associating with his friends outside of the classroom setting. The padawan’s time had been consumed by the demands placed upon him by his master. Obi-Wan forced those memories that threatened to overcome him to the dark recesses of his mind where they belonged. He no longer had to worry about Master Elad.
“Obi?” Bant’s gentle voice broke through the fog that shrouded his mind.
“Bant. Garen. What are you guys doing here?” Obi-Wan’s voice was still weak and hoarse as he spoke. “You shouldn’t be here.”
“Is that any way to talk to your friends? You couldn’t count this as an official visit to the healer’s wing if we didn’t come and see you,” Garen quipped.
A small chuckle escaped from Obi-Wan. He could always count on Garen to make him laugh, even when he had no reason to laugh. Laughter was an indulgence that he had long been denied. “I guess you’re right. So how many visits does this make?”
“Too many,” Garen replied.
“I guess so.” Obi-Wan noticed that his friends were still holding his hands and that the restraints were gone. “Who released the restraints?”
“They put you in restraints?” Bant asked incredulously. “Obi, didn’t you tell them that…”
“NO! I didn’t and you can’t say anything either!” The apprentice could tell that his sudden outburst startled Bant and Garen as they instinctively pulled from his grasp. Shame immediately flooded Obi-Wan as he realized that he had actually screamed at his friends. He took a moment to calm his raging emotions before apologizing to his friends. “I’m sorry—I didn’t mean to yell at you.”
Bant reached out and took Obi-Wan’s hand once again. “It’s okay. Why didn’t you tell them? Why did you allow yourself to be put through that?”
“I couldn’t tell them. I just couldn’t tell them. Besides, it doesn’t matter anymore.”
Garen studied his friend for a brief moment as he asked the Force for guidance in how to help their friend. “It does matter, Obi. Master Jinn and Master Yoda said that you admitted to killing Master Elad. There has to be a mistake. You could never…”
“But I did. Force help me, I did.” Obi-Wan stared down at his hands which still held a slight tremble. These were now hands of a killer.
“We shouldn’t have made that promise to you,” Bant stated. “We should have told someone everything we knew.”
“No. Please…no one can know. I didn’t want
you
to know. You would never have found out if I hadn’t been so careless that day.”
“Careless? Obi-Wan, how can you say that? We found you passed out in the hallway! That’s when we found the bruises on your arms. You came to and wouldn’t let us call the healers.” Bant shuddered as she remembered that particular day.
She and Garen had been going to find Obi-Wan to see if he could go to mid day meal with them. They rounded the corner and found Obi-Wan lying unconscious on the floor in front of the quarters he shared with Master Elad. Bant knelt down and pulled up his sleeve just slightly to take his pulse. She noticed his wrist had some bruising so she decided to check the rest of his arm. Bant discovered that his arm was littered with bruises, both old and new. She indicated for Garen to check his other arm. Much to their dismay, they discovered even more bruising.
Before they could call for the healers, Obi-Wan regained consciousness. When he became fully aware of what Bant and Garen were doing, he began to panic. Bant remembered Obi-Wan’s desperate pleas as he tried to explain the bruises. Neither she nor Garen believed him and he was finally forced to tell them the truth. Obi-Wan finally consented to tell them what happened with the contingency that they would never tell a soul what he had shared with him. They continued to suspect things were amiss after that day, but they were always reminded of their promise. Now, Bant and Garen regretted ever giving Obi-Wan their word.
“I know what happened, Bant. I wish to the Force that I hadn’t told you two. I had no right to put you and Garen in that position. One day, I hope you’ll both forgive me.” Obi-Wan could not bear to look on the faces of his friends any longer.
“Obi-Wan,” Garen called to him softly. “Obi-Wan look at me.”
Obi-Wan shook his head as he returned to stare at his hands. He did not want his best friends dragged through the investigation that would no doubt ensue. He did not believe that he deserved their loyalty. He had asked much from them and given nothing in return. The only thing that he was truly thankful for was the fact that they really knew very little of what had happened over the years. Ever since that day in the hallway, Obi-Wan had been careful to keep up the façade that he had created when he was around his friends or other Jedi. If they ever discovered the whole truth, he would lose them forever.
Obi-Wan was unresponsive to Garen’s request so Bant attempted to bring him out of his self imposed prison. “Obi-Wan, listen to me. There is nothing to forgive. We’re friends—we support each other; we stand by each other. You would do the same for us.”
Garen nodded his head in agreement. “That’s right. I know that you would do anything to help us.” Garen reached his hand down and gently raised Obi-Wan’s chin up until they were looking eye to eye. “We would do anything to help you, Obi—even if it means breaking our promise.”
Unshed tears glistened in a sea of blue as Obi-Wan pleaded with his friends. “Please, don’t. If you tell them, I’ll be forced to tell them everything. I can’t live through it again, even if it is through words and memories.”
An uneasy silence hung in the air between the three friends. Garen and Bant realized that they truly knew nothing of the hell that Obi-Wan had been through. Their vigil was disrupted as Master Healer Nathe entered the room.
“Padawans Muln and Eerin—I believe that you are in here without permission. Your friend is under investigation for murder. His visitors must be pre approved.”
“Master Yoda gave them permission,” Obi-Wan said as he wiped the tears off his cheeks.
Master Nathe eyed the padawans suspiciously. “I’m sure he did. Anyway, it is time for them to leave. We need to finish your examination.” He walked over to Obi-Wan’s bed and noticed the restraints were gone. “Who removed these?”
Knowing that Master Nathe would automatically assume Bant and Garen removed them, Obi-Wan rose to their defense. “Master Yoda did that as well.”
The healer scowled at the apprentice. “It must be nice to have Master Yoda on your side. Just remember, Padawan Kenobi, that even the great Master Yoda can not condone cold blooded murder.” He replaced the restraints on the youth and turned back to the other two padawans.
“If you’ll excuse us, I have an examination to complete. Oh, by the way, there is a message for you both at the desk. You may pick it up as you leave.”
Bant and Garen backed out of the room slowly. They couldn’t help but notice the fear and apprehension that had returned to Obi-Wan’s eyes. It was the same look that he had that day in the hallway when they had found him. They each said a prayer to the Force to protect their friend. Garen went to the desk and picked up their messages, although they both had a good idea of what the messages contained. Their masters had left word for both of them to meet with Master Jinn.
“What time do you have to meet him?” Bant asked.
Garen glanced at his chronometer. “One hour. How about you?”
“After last meal. So, what are you going to tell him?”
“The truth. Master Yoda was right—we have to help Obi-Wan.”
Bant sighed as her tears threatened to fall once more. “You’re right—we’re his friends. We should have done this long ago.” Bant hugged her dear friend as she whispered in his ear, “May the Force be with you, Garen.”
“And with you, Bant.”
The two friends went their separate ways hoping that their decision to tell what they knew would help Obi-Wan and not destroy him completely.
Master Nathe returned his focus on his patient. “Now, Padawan Kenobi, are you ready to finish your examination? I have to present my findings to the council as soon as possible.” Without waiting for the youth to reply, the healer accessed the Force to aid in the examination. As he allowed the Force to ebb toward the padawan, he felt an unexpected resistance from the youth. The Master Healer was forced to break the connection as his patient screamed in complete agony.
“PLEASE STOP! IT HURTS! IT HURTS!” Sobs wracked the teen’s trembling body. Tendrils of pain seemed to be wrapping around every nerve of Obi-Wan’s being. He found himself pulling against the restraints in an effort to find a position that would allow him comfort. “PLEASE STOP! I CAN’T STAND IT!”
“What hurts, Padawan Kenobi?” The healer had not expected such a violent reaction to a mere Force probe. However, he would not put it past the padawan to try something unexpected in order to not comply with the examination. Master Nathe could not hide his astonishment when Obi-Wan replied in a voice laced with exhaustion and pain.
“The Force…the Force hurts…”
Garen stood outside the quarters of Master Qui-Gon Jinn. He was gathering the courage to announce himself when the door slid open. He tried to swallow the lump in his throat when he heard the commanding baritone voice of the Jedi master.
“Come in Padawan Muln. I’ve been expecting you…”

OH, that doesn't sound good. Obi-Wan sounds like he's been beaten and tormented through the Force enough that he can't take Force use on him. His master sounds like a monster.
I liked this.
Sounds very ominous, almost as if Obi-Wan thinks he did something bad enough to lose his friends. Of course, it could be that his dead master was warping his mind. Victims can feel that they deserved the brutality.
Great job.

The suspense!
I have to admit, I've never heard of torture by Force before.
That's just evil.

I'm back again...and what updates to come home to. Poor Obi-Wan; so hurt that he probably believes its his fault, yet one can understand his not wanting to remember all the past - but he needs to. After all, as the Jedi say, you must FACE and then release emotions to move on.
Glancing back at the sleeping youth, Yoda sighed. His eyes contained a sadness that the Force seemed to echo. “Resting he is. Tired his spirit is. Killed his master, he has confessed to.”
Tired and wounded, indeed.
Wonderful job on this story.

Either way, I'm here now and waiting with baited breath for the next part! I'm hanging on the edge of my seat. Poor Obi.
And poor Bant and Garen with that guilt. I hope Qui-Gon can help Obi-Wan with whatever hurt him in the past. And btw, I can't wait to find out what exactly that was.

Part 5
Garen entered the quarters of Qui-Gon Jinn as he attempted to release his anxiety to the Force. He did not really know why he so nervous around the Jedi master. Perhaps it was the stories he had heard growing up in the crèche about the legendary Master Jinn. He glanced around the room and saw that the simple décor did not reflect the lifestyle of a legend. Constant missions and extended stays away from the Temple apparently did not warrant extravagant decorations. However, Garen noted that everything in the room flowed with the Living Force, especially the man sitting on the couch in the middle of the commons area.
Qui-Gon placed the data pad he was studying on the table in front of him. “Please sit down, Padawan Muln.” He gestured to the young man to take a seat opposite of him.
“Thank you, Master Jinn,” replied Garen with a hint of nervousness still present in his voice.
Qui-Gon smiled as he noticed Garen subconsciously fiddling with his robe. “Can I offer you some tea?”
“Uh, no sir—I mean Master Jinn. I guess you want to talk to me about Obi.”
“Yes, I do. Your friend seems to be in a lot of trouble. I assume that you want to help him.”
“I’ll do anything I can to help him.” Garen met the formidable gaze of the Jedi master. “I just hope that I’m not too late.”
Qui-Gon placed a reassuring hand on Garen’s shoulder and gave it a gently squeeze. “Let’s get started, shall we?”
Garen took a deep breath and released it. Before coming to see the Jedi master, he hadn’t been sure what to expect. But now, he felt that Qui-Gon Jinn wanted to simply discover the truth. The master had no preconceived notions of condemnation towards Obi-Wan. Garen decided that his trust would be well placed with Master Jinn. “What do you want to know?”
Qui-Gon picked up a voice recorder that was lying next to his data pad and activated it. Placing it strategically between the two of them, he began his questioning. “When was the last time you saw Padawan Kenobi?”
“Two days ago in Advanced Astrophysics class,” replied Garen.
“Did you notice anything unusual about him?”
“He was quieter than usual…distracted. I could tell that he was tired.”
“Did you ask him what was wrong?” inquired Qui-Gon.
Garen nodded. “Yes. All Obi said was ‘just the usual’.”
Qui-Gon sat forward on the edge of the couch. His interest was piqued by the padawan’s last statement. “What did he mean by ‘just the usual’?”
This was the opening that Garen had been hoping for. “Permission to speak freely, Master Jinn?”
“Please do,” the Jedi master said.
“After Master Elad accepted Obi as his padawan, things began to change.”
“How so?”
“It was like Master Elad didn’t want Obi to associate with anyone but him. Rarely was Obi allowed any time to himself or with his friends.”
“Namely you and Bant,” Qui-Gon stated for clarification.
“Yes…and Reeft. He’s not around much anymore. He and his master are away from the Temple most of the time. Reeft and Obi kind of lost touch over the years.”
The Jedi master motioned for Garen to continue. “Please continue, Padawan.”
“Obi wasn’t allowed to eat or practice with other padawans unless Master Elad gave him permission. Even then, Obi never said much to us because his master was always watching him.”
“Did you ever get a chance to ask Padawan Kenobi about this? Did he ever offer an explanation as to why he acted this way? Perhaps Padawan Kenobi required a tight leash so to speak. He could have had a difficult time controlling his anger or…”
“No!” Garen retorted sharply. He thought for a brief moment that perhaps he had been wrong in his earlier assessment of the Jedi master. “Obi changed when he became Master Elad’s apprentice! If you had known Obi-Wan before, you would have been blinded by his light in the Force! That light doesn’t shine any more, Master Jinn, and it hasn’t for a long time!”
Qui-Gon admired the devotion of Garen to his friend. He was certain that he would evoke a similar response from Padawan Eerin. “Forgive me if sounded accusatory in my statement. I was simply playing devil’s advocate. Padawan Kenobi obviously means a great deal to you.”
“Yes he does. I apologize as well, Master Jinn. I did not mean to sound disrespectful.” Garen didn’t regret what he had said, but he did regret the manner in which he had spoken to the Jedi Master.
“Apology accepted, Padawan. Now where were we? Did Padawan Kenobi confide in you as to why the sudden change in his personality?”
“Once when Master Elad was on solo mission Obi-Wan was left behind. Bant and I convinced him to go the dining hall and eat with us. He sat there and just picked at his food. When I tried to ask him what was wrong, he just shrugged his shoulders. Then Bant asked him how he liked being Master Elad’s padawan.”
“What did he say?” Qui-Gon was hanging on to every word that Garen spoke, searching for a clue to help him understand the young Jedi called Obi-Wan Kenobi.
“I remember it so clearly. He looked at both of us but it was like he wasn’t seeing us. We could barely hear him when he spoke. He told us that he was in hell.” Garen paused as he organized his thoughts and to allow the Jedi master to digest what he had just told him. “We asked him what he meant and he excused himself from the table and headed back to his quarters.”
“Did you follow him?” Qui-Gon asked.
“Yes we did. We caught him before he was about to enter his quarters and asked him again what he meant back in the dining hall.”
“Did he answer you this time?”
Garen recalled the haunted look in Obi-Wan’s eyes as he faced his two friends. “He told us that we shouldn’t worry about him and he was wrong to say what he did. He tried to brush it off as to having a bad day, but we knew better. We kept on asking him what he meant by saying he was in hell. Obi finally looked both of us in the eye and told us that we needed to mind our own business and to go back to our perfect Masters and forget about him.”
“Well that certainly would give indication that not all was well between Padawan Kenobi and Master Elad,” Qui-Gon concluded. “What happened then?”
“He just turned around and went in his quarters. After that, we tried to see Obi, but he just avoided us.”
“Well, obviously you and Padawan Eerin are rather persistent since the three of you are still friends.”
“You could say that. Bant can be incredibly stubborn when she wants to be.”
Qui-Gon smiled at the padawan. “I’m sure she can be. Please continue.”
“Yes, Master Jinn. After Master Elad returned, things pretty much remained the same until Obi ended up at the healers one day. We went to see him and he told us that he had fallen during saber practice. The healer was setting his broken arm but Obi still seemed to be in a lot of pain even with the healer using the Force; they finally ended up giving him a hypo. He apologized for what he had said to us and asked us to forgive him. We did of course and started talking about different things. Then out of the blue Obi told us that the one thing he never wanted to lose was our friendship. Master Elad came in to take him home and Obi became distant and quiet again.”
“When I saw you and Padawan Eerin in the corridor, a comment was made regarding the frequency that Padawan Kenobi has been to the healers. Can you elaborate on that?”
“I would say that he’s been in the healer’s wing more than most padawans. He’s had several broken bones over the years. About every time he and Master Elad return from a mission, he is in the healer’s ward for some reason.”
“I will have to get the healer’s records as well,” Qui-Gon concluded. “Have you ever seen any unexplained bruises on Padawan Kenobi?”
“Only once,” Garen replied. “About a year ago, Bant and I found him unconscious outside his quarters and discovered a lot of bruises on his arms. Some of them were old, but most of them were fairly new. He came to and realized what we had seen. He begged us not to call the healers and we agreed if he would tell us what happened. He knew that we had backed him into a corner.”
Tears threatened to spill from Garen’s eyes as he told Qui-Gon the horrid tale that Obi-Wan had related to him. “He said that the bruises were from the restraints that his master would use on him in his training sessions. He told us that part of his training was to learn to tolerate pain without the aid of the Force. Obi didn’t give us any details about these so called training sessions but seeing the bruises where he had fought against the restraints didn’t leave much to the imagination. He begged for us not to say anything because it would make things worse.
“Bant and I knew we had to tell somebody but I guess we let our hearts overrule our mind. Obi has always had problems with low self esteem and he’s always been afraid that he would be discarded as a padawan and sent to the Agri-Corps. He felt that Master Elad was his only hope in becoming a Jedi. We finally agreed to keep his promise but told him that if we felt his life was in danger, we would tell our masters. From then on, whenever Obi saw us he acted like everything was okay and we could never prove otherwise.”
Garen hung his head in shame as he felt the anger radiating off the Jedi master. “I’m sorry, Master Jinn. We should have said something sooner.”
Qui-Gon simply could not understand what would possess a master to hurt his own padawan. He took a moment to center himself and release his anger to the Force. He did not intend for the padawan to receive the waves of his uncontrolled wrath. “The important thing is that you are doing what you can now. I believe…”
The Jedi master was interrupted by the signal from his comm unit. “Yes?” He immediately recognized the voice of Master Healer Nathe.
“Master Jinn, your presence is requested in the healer’s wing.”
“Is there a problem?” Qui-Gon could not resist forcing the healer to ask him for help. He, of course, would release this feeling of pride to the Force and meditate on humility at a later time.
“Since you had such a calming effect on Padawan Kenobi earlier, it was suggested that you might be willing to do so again. I tried to use the Force to assess him and needless to say it did not go well.”
“I see. Is Padawan Kenobi still in restraints?” Qui-Gon asked already knowing the answer.
The silence that followed provided the Jedi master with his answer. “I am on my way, Master Nathe. Padawan Kenobi better be out of those restraints by the time I get there. Jinn out.” Qui-Gon slipped on his robe and turned off the voice recorder. “I’m afraid I will have to cut this short. We will talk again soon, Padawan.”
“Yes, Master Jinn.” Garen rose from the chair and executed a formal bow to the master. “Thank you for listening and for trying to help Obi.”
“I will do what I can.” Qui-Gon escorted Garen to the door and then made his way to the healer’s wing. His long strides were determined as those he passed in the corridor gave him a large berth. His thoughts were on a young man whose apprenticeship had been filled with nothing but pain and lies. Qui-Gon also knew that the journey to find the truth had just begun and it would lead him to uncover truths that he could not begin to fathom.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
The padawan cautiously eyed the healer as he removed the restraints. Obi-Wan’s mind and body were still feeling the painful aftereffects of Master Nathe’s attempt to Force scan him. His muscles twitched in continuous spasms and his head began to throb. The youth forced himself to curl into a fetal position in an effort to find relief.
~There is only way to find relief from this nightmare and that is death. I would think that the Force could at least allow me to die. I guess Master Elad was right, the Force despises me.~
Obi-Wan was pulled from his somber thoughts by a familiar voice. He recognized the voice as belonging to Master Jinn. He listened as the two masters where once again discussing his situation.
“I’m glad to see that Padawan Kenobi is out of restraints,” Qui-Gon said to the healer.
“I don’t think it is wise but if you think he needs to be out of them, so be it. Just remember, if he something happens, you will be held responsible. I must go and make a preliminary report to present to the council.” He started to head towards his private office when Qui-Gon stepped in front of him.
“You said that you tried to do a Force scan on him and it didn’t go well. What happened?”
“He started screaming in pain saying that the Force was hurting him.”
Qui-Gon’s eyes widened at the revelation. “And what did you do?”
“I stopped immediately. Contrary to what you may believe, Master Jinn, I take my oath to not harm another being very seriously,” Master Nathe scowled.
“I guess it’s just the compassion part of the oath that you choose to ignore.” Qui-Gon moved to stand in front of the monitors recording Obi-Wan’s vital signs. “His blood pressure and heart rate are still elevated. Have you given him another sedative?”
“No. It is too soon for another one. Now do you have any more questions, Master Jinn? I have to prepare my report.”
“No more questions, but I do need Padawan Kenobi’s medical records sent to my quarters immediately.” Without waiting for a response from the healer, he pulled up a chair and sat down beside Obi-Wan’s bedside.
“Hello again, Padawan,” Qui-Gon said. There was no response from the apprentice, but yet Qui-Gon did not really expect one.
“Can I get you anything? Some water or something to eat, perhaps?”
Obi-Wan shook his head and then looked away from the Jedi master. There was something about this tenacious man that screamed at the padawan to trust him. However, Obi-Wan had learned long ago that trust was something that he could not freely give. With the exception of Bant and Garen, everything that he had ever placed his faith in had been destroyed. His faith in his master, in the Jedi Order, and the Force was nonexistent. So why should he trust this man?
“Are you in much pain?” Qui-Gon asked the youth.
“I’ll be fine,” Obi-Wan whispered. “I just want everyone to leave me alone.”
“I can’t do that, Padawan Kenobi. I’ve talked with your friend Garen, and I believe that you are not telling me the complete truth about what happened. Now if you want my help, you are going to have to be honest with me.”
Obi-Wan held the Jedi’s master gaze as he defiantly replied, “You’re forgetting one thing Master Jinn; I did not
ask
for your help…”
RE: The Truth Shall Set You Free (Obi-Qui AU) Updated 5/10!
I love the way you bring out little hints about what Obi-Wan has been going through, building to the point where it is finally clear just how horrible his master has been treating him. That man must have been insane to do something like that to his padawan.
I know Obi is trying to be stubborn and not have to deal with his memories any more but Jinn is more stubborn than a bantha when it comes to doing the right thing.
Loved it.
Great job, padawan.
Keep up the good work!
RE: The Truth Shall Set You Free (Obi-Qui AU) Updated 5/10!
Another great update...Obi is stubborn, but so is Qui and he's had more experience at it. He'll get to the bottom of the story and exonerate Obi.
Obi-Wan shook his head and then looked away from the Jedi master. There was something about this tenacious man that screamed at the padawan to trust him. However, Obi-Wan had learned long ago that trust was something that he could not freely give. With the exception of Bant and Garen, everything that he had ever placed his faith in had been destroyed. Obi-Wan held the Jedi’s master gaze as he defiantly replied, “You’re forgetting one thing Master Jinn; I did not ask for your help…”
But you will get his help Obi - and you need it.
Nice update.
That last line is very loveable.
Ok, typo report:
"He glanced around the room and that the simple décor did not reflected the lifestyle of a legend."
I belive you miss a verb between 'and' & 'that', also: "did not *reflect*." Just thought I should point it out.
