Summary: The birth of Darth Nihilus.
I saw a character discussion on Nihilus over in Lit and it gave me an idea...
The bridge of the Ravager hummed with activity as the battle raged around her. “The Mandalorians are falling back towards Malachor V,” Lt. Carano called out an update. “Revan has done it! Mandalore is dead!”
A cheer erupted across the bridge of the warship. “Pursue the Mandalorians,” General Alexander Briggs ordered. “We'll get their backs to the planet and they'll have no escape.” Finally, the end was in sight.
The Ravager did her best to live up to her name as she and her support ships pressed their advantage. General Briggs looked from the forward bridge viewport. Explosions winked in front of him as the starfighters dueled. The occasional larger explosion represented the deaths of dozens or hundreds whenever a capital ship fell victim to it's enemies.
The Mandalorians were right where Briggs wanted them when the largest explosion of all flashed into view. Before the light could even begin to burn into the back of his retinas Briggs felt the disturbance in the force created by the awesome power of the mass shadow generator. Tens of thousands of ordinary soldiers-- Republic and Mandalorian-- blinked out in an instant, along with dozens upon dozens of Jedi. And Briggs felt every one. Every. Single. One.
The brilliant flash of light and the shock wave from the devastated planet of Malachor V quickly engulfed the Ravager and the already screaming General Alexander Briggs. He gripped his fists tightly at his sides and, with his face turned upward, he screamed a wordless sound of pain and loss. Images and feelings flashed through his mind too quickly to be absorbed. Something inside Briggs began to fray and rip.
He fought to maintain his sanity.
Did he?
The rip threatened to tear his very soul apart. The death, the sudden emptiness was too much to bear, too much to take in all at once. Briggs collapsed onto the deck of his flagship as it made it's own death plunge towards Malachor V. Briggs retreated deeper and deeper inside himself in a futile effort to hide from the pursuing death. The hole in the Force, in life itself chased down Briggs and he made his choice... He accepted it and a strange new feeling washed over him...
The broken Ravager came to rest on the remnants of Malachor V. Lt. Carano, who had somehow managed to survive the impact made his way to the great gash where the forward viewports had once been. Miraculously, the gravely mistaken Carano thought, the General was still alive. Hope flared within him. “General?” he asked. “Are you all right?”
The battered figure clambered to his knees and then his feet where he stood unnaturally straight. He raised the hood of his cloak into place, covering his blackened flesh, and turned to face Carano.
“General?” Carano said. “Can you hear me?”
Lord Nihilus spoke.
The End.

I like Nihilus too. That short comic in tales where he destroys Katarr and takes Visas gave me chills the first time I read it.
