Title: The Secret Diary of a Padawan
Author: moosemousse
Timeframe: A few years before TPM
Characters: OCs, with mention of canon characters
Genre: A diary, it will cover lots of genres.
Keywords: Tapani, OC, diary, journal, padawan, Jedi, academy
Summary: A padawan makes a bet with another padawan to keep a diary for a year.
Notes: This is a response to the Dear Diary Challenge 2008, a challenge to keep the diary of a character for a year, I have chosen an OC Padawan in the Tapani Sector. While this is set in the Tapani Sector it is not known where exactly inside the sector it is. The sector itself is in the region known as the Colonies, just outside of the Core Worlds region. Looking at this map, it's next to the word 'Colonies'. It's main reason for being set there is that I like the names of the days and the months.
As the diary progresses I'll be expanding the notes to include information that's relevant to the latest entry, which is why it has it's own post.
Edit: thanks go to lazykbys_left for locating the Tapani Sector on the galactic map for me.

Oh my head!
Last night we celebrated the end of the old year and the start of the new one. Some of the older Apprentices smuggled in some, um, I'm not sure. Whatever it was it was more than a little bit intoxicating and I drank more that a little bit too much of it. Anyway, I seem to have gotten myself into a challenge with another padawan. The challenge is to keep a diary for a year, or at least longer the other one can. I can't remember what the winner gets but I think it's good. It's why I'm up now, I would have gone back to bed but I knew I'd forget, might as well get it done now.
I'm so glad that it's Natunda today. We get Natundas off, which is great as I really don't feel capable of anything at all today. I think with some meditation I should be OK for tomorrow.
On a plus, I didn't wake alone, so I can't be the only one who had too much! Time to crawl back into bed and hope I'm not so sore when I wake up.

I shouldn't laugh at the poor padawan's misfortune but having been there myself...
Very nice beginning. I hope, in the future, the padawan won't be quite so trusting with what is being eaten or drunk.

My Master went off on a mission at the beginning of the week, it was deemed to dangerous for a Padawan to go on and so I was left behind. I had been left some tasks to do while my Master was away. This included going to the station near the Polar Regions for some supplies. It's the middle of winter and there was a storm on the way so there wasn't much time.
The station is quite large and has retractable shielding which covers the whole place in a giant dome. The buildings would be buried if it wasn't for this. It's more like a small town and the amount of snow that falls would make it impossible to leave the buildings, or even find them. The dome also keeps it warm so there's not much need for warm clothing, thank the Force. The first few days were full of being busy, rushing all over trying to get everything sorted so it could be sent out before the storm came.
We didn't make it.
The snow storm hit and now there's no way out of the station until the storm passes. All that hard work seems to have been for nothing. At least now the rest of the preparations can be done at a leisurely pace and the previous work can be checked.
Mind you, I was sent with a certain someone from New Year's Eve, so it's not as bad as it could have been. It's a shame we're both too tired to do anything, but it's Natunda tomorrow so we'll probably go round the small shopping area as we're not going to get any work done.

The storm let up two days ago and our work was well rewarded. We managed to get everything back to the Academy in record time. It only took two days to unpack everything and organise it properly in the Acadamies stores. I was jointly in charge of the process as I had done a lot of the organising and knew which crates contained what and knew where it all had to go. It felt weird giving orders to older Jedi. They didn't seem to take much notice though, but I kind of got the feeling that they thought it was weird taking orders from Padawans.
Maybe it was just my imagination.
Talking of which, it seems to be playing up lately. I sensed something amiss while I was at the station. It could have been just my imagination as I'm the only one who felt it. It's hard to describe so it could just have been me. I'm not going to talk to my Master about it as no one else can back me up and he'd probably dismiss it as something trivial. We did eat some . . unusual foods while we were there, maybe that was it.
Oh well. I'm looking forward to tomorrow. I don't have any plans other than lounge around meditating. I was planning on visiting the workshops at some point. My lightsabre feels off and I'd like to look at it before I actually need to use it for anything other than show. Being caught in a fight with effectively nothing more than a metal tube does not appeal to me.
