"You're still alive aren't you?" Canderous grinned at him evilly.
"Last time I checked."

They set off again, Kriag breathing heavily at the unaccustomed exercise. They eventually made it to the dock and Rel prostrated himself, taking a careful aim on the guards at the Dar'manda's lowered access ramp. Kriag went down on one knee, Tural remained standing, they covered every moving object in the dock. They paused as a ship entered and disgorged troops. The three men looked at each other.
"She got guns on 'er?" Rel asked Tural, the engineer had ducked down beside his companions.
"Yes, the ship does have heavy blaster capability. They are currently inactive." Tural sniffed.
"Ok, so we have to get to the ship, activate the weapons systems and engines." Kriag said, Rel nodded his blue eyes moving as he thought. "Past a large group of heavily armed and armoured Sith troops," the nod was repeated in a bounce of shaggy blonde hair. "And at least one Dark Jedi."
"Uh-huh."
"You're actually insane aren't you?" The pilot stared at him.
"My psych profile was so bad that I wasn't even contacted near the end of the wars, and I know I'm a good shot." Rel's grin was intense and maniacal. "Sometimes in life you gotta just walk up and knock." He dropped down onto the deck and walked across the cavernous space, with a bright confident expression. The other two stared at his back in amazement and with a shrug Kriag followed him, Tural pursed his lips as he jumped. They reached the ramp and the guards stepped into their path.
"Can I help you?" Rel asked treating them to a smile of absolute attention. The two guards looked at each other uncomprehendingly. "Tell me, you guys always get the crap jobs? Y'see, way I figure it, all the popular guys are over there." He waved in the vague direction of the honour guard. "While you get to guard this crate of spare parts. Why's 'at'?" Both men collapsed as the ship discharged electricity through her hull. "Could it be that you have the awareness of a bantha pera'ps?" He bowed at Tural. "Nice one, not a standard feature I take it?"
"Absolutely not." One side of Tural's mouth lifted under his moustache. They piled onto the ship and Tural set about activating systems that had lain dormant for years. Kriag cracked his knuckles at the controls as they came on-line. Rel darted into the turret and felt power thrum beneath him.

Little short bit!!
Canderous was in the dark and he was hunting. He had found out where she was and he was deep in the bowels of the ship. He had not yet ascertained the location of Fear and that bothered him a small amount. She was walking on the deck-plates above him and he listened to the steps, keeping pace in the near silence.
Mallia sensed him there and her heart lifted a little, her pace quickening as she lead him around the ship. She stopped in a deserted room and cloaked herself. She waited patiently, focusing herself on him. He appeared from a wall and paused, crouched by the door. She moved silently until she stood behind him. The movement was totally fluid, he drew a blaster as he stood, mis-judging it so that the barrel smashed into her jaw. She had anticipated the blow, but she took it, tears forming in her eyes from the pain.
"You saved my life once," Canderous growled, holding her by the front of her robe. "So I'll spare yours now. Remember this, betray me again and I will not be so forgiving. I'm only giving you this chance because you're owed it and I don't like being in debt." He let go of the robe and gave her a shove making her stagger. "That's over now. The boys are making their way to the Dar'manda. We should really get going, it'll start getting hot soon and I'm warm enough in here already."
"I would never have taken you as a man to complain about physical hardship." Mallia said, wiping her lips with the back of her hand. Canderous' only response was a grunt of concentration as he remembered the route back to the dock.
"Normally I wouldn't, but it's compounded by the pain in my ass." He said finally. "Get to the dock, I'll meet you there." She paused as she turned to leave.
"Thank you." He closed his eyes and tipped his head. A gesture of acceptance that made her want to sit and weep Tattooine to life. But she held it in and left the room. He stood alone in the room for a few minutes banging his head on the wall. He stopped with his forehead resting on the cool metal and laughed properly for the first time in years.
"What is it with women making my life complicated? Just for a while I'd like to hit things without having to explain it." He huffed and entered the ducting system.

I wonder what he's up to. And she is making me all fuzzy in the head. Maybe things will become easier after Christmas when (and if  ) I get the KotOR game.
Just for a while I'd like to hit things without having to explain it.
