RE: Remembrance (JA: Obi, Qui, Siri, AU) Updated 3/14!
The Jedi Master now understood what Siri had meant as he found himself on the ground. Obi-Wan was straddling his chest, preparing to deliver a sharp blow to his face. Qui-Gon did not have time to consider what had happened to make his Padawan into a cold blooded killer. The only thing on his mind was staying alive and not hurting Obi-Wan.
I think this will be a bigger problem then he realizes. Wonderful post your master will be proud.

Valairy_Scot:
Ack - what are you doing to me! Qui better find a way to get through to "Ben" without killing one or the both of them.
Qui better think fast...time is running out! Sorry about the evil cliffie...
As always, thanks for your continued support.
Gilkenny:
Nooooo!! What a cliff hanger, you love to torture us, and you do such a brilliant job.
Thank you so much.
I hope Cordo has an escape route organised because they are going to need it.
Cordo knows a lot about the prison...the Jedi are going to find that he will come in handy.
bek:
Okay, this is where the loop hole that couldn't be confirmed will come into play...right?
You might want to keep praying...
I'm actually working on the next chapter for 'Not Myself', but it's in pieces at this point and has to be put together into a post. Hopefully I'll get to work on it this weekend.
Yeah...I can't wait to read it.
Quigonjecca:
I sure hope RL doesn't get in the way because that was another CRUEL CLIFFHANGER! ACK! What are you doing to me? I NEED to know what happens.
I've got another post coming your way!
Oh this is awesome! I very rarely follow fanfic all the way through to the end, but this one keeps me glued to the edge of my seat!!! Wow! That was awesome!
I'm honored that you think so highly of my fanfic.
wolf_kenobi:
At least it looks like Adi will be able to rescue Siri... I hope.
You'll get your wish on that.
Please post again soon- this cliff hanger is killing me!
Next post coming right up!
callista_gseran:
Sorry about the cliffie...I don't know if the next one is much better.
Cole_Kenobi:
Poor Qui, and Adi's not going to be there to save him with a Forch push like she did for Siri, I've got a feeling this fight is going to get bloody.
You're probably right.
Awesome, splendid update. Superb job! Love this story!
Thank you for your kind words. I'm so glad that you like this story.
Bastet
:
But now at least Qui-Gon can't deny the truth any longer! Even if Qui can somehow manage to subdue Obi, how are they going to get out of there?!
That remains to be seen. Thank you so much for your kind words.
I can't begin to tell you how much they mean to me.
Meredith_Kenobi:
You're not going to have to wait too long to find out what happens next.
silverfighter:
Oh my stars, poor Qui-Gon, poor Adi, poor Siri. I am REALLY hoping that something will happen, Obi-Wan will realize that Qui-Gon wants to help him, and will be whisked off to the Temple and get better. But I'm guessing that won't happen.
I can pretty much assure you that's not going to happen.
Qui-Gon didn't listen to Siri! Now he's in some serious trouble. That was a bad place to leave it.
Good two updates, I'll try to post replies faster from now on.
Sorry about that...and don't worry about replying faster. I know how RL can be. Thanks for reading.
all_othr_nams_tkn:
I'd be happy to. Thanks for asking.
KELIA:
Maybe I'm must being paranoid, but I'm starting to get a little suspicious of how cooperative Cordo is being.
Cordo always has his own agenda.
Thank you so much for the kind words. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
obsessedwithSW:
I think this will be a bigger problem then he realizes. Wonderful post your master will be proud.
Most definitely. Thanks for the vote of confidence. I hope that I always make my Master proud. She's the greatest!
I realized that I left you all with quite an evil cliffie on Friday, so I went ahead and got the next post ready. I hope that you enjoy it. Thank you all for reading.
Part 11
He didn’t think it was possible that he could hate Qui-Gon Jinn any more than he did right now. He was wrong. As Ben delivered his first blow to the Jedi Master’s face, hatred consumed every fiber of his being. The fire of rage spread throughout the young man, burning out of control.
The Jedi had dared to call him Obi-Wan, which only fueled Ben’s desire to see the man suffer. He despised that name almost as much as he detested the man who had spoken it.
Ben almost found the look of astonishment on Qui-Gon Jinn’s face humorous. It was the same look that all the other Jedi had before he had killed them. Their surprise would usually melt into fear when the Jedi realized that they were about to die.
The teen realized that he was letting himself get distracted and if he wasn’t careful, it could cost him dearly. As Ben shifted his weight slightly to try and get in a better position, he suddenly found himself on his back with Qui-Gon standing over him.
Ben scrambled to his feet, putting distance between himself and the Jedi Master. The youth eyed Qui-Gon warily as the Jedi had to shout to be heard over the boisterous crowd.
“Ben!” Qui-Gon called out to the boy. “What do you think you’re doing?”
“Surely you are not that naïve, Master Jinn. I think it’s very obvious what I’m doing.”
“Why Obi…Ben? Why would you want to hurt me?”
“Hurt you?” Ben asked, his voice reflecting an eerie calmness that he did not feel. “My goal isn’t to hurt you. My goal is to
kill
you. Inflicting pain on you is just an added bonus.”
“I don’t understand, Ben. I’m your Master…”
“I don’t have a Master!” the youth roared. “Not anymore!”
Ben charged at the Jedi again. His shoulder made contact with Qui-Gon’s stomach, forcing him against the wall. He struggled to keep the tall frame of the Jedi Master pinned firmly against the wall. The young man was stunned to find that even without the Force, the Jedi was a formidable opponent.
The teen was trying to valiantly hide his own fatigue. He usually had more time to recover from his treatments before he was required to fight. Ben cursed his momentary weakness as Qui-Gon broke free from his hold and grabbed his wrists. Ben tried to pull free, but the Jedi managed to kick his legs out from under him. Now, he was on the ground, looking into the face of the man that he abhorred.
“Listen to me!” Qui-Gon demanded.
“I’ve listened to the lies of the Jedi for too long. There is nothing you can say that I haven’t heard before. I don’t belong to the Jedi and I want nothing to do with the Jedi, except to see them wiped off the face of the universe.”
“How can you say that?
You
are a Jedi!”
“No!” the teen howled. “I will not listen to your lies!”
Ben continued to fight against Qui-Gon’s strong grasp, ignoring the constant pleas of the Jedi to listen to him. Between the racket of the spectators, Qui-Gon Jinn’s continuous rambling, and the images that were beginning to assault his thoughts, Ben felt as if his skull would split into.
The youth stopped thrashing about and closed his eyes. Ben was completely aware of the fact that he had to pull himself together if he was going to kill this obstinate Jedi. He smiled inwardly as he felt Qui-Gon’s hold on him loosen ever so slightly.
His eyes snapped open and glared at the Jedi Master, who was still spouting his self-righteous platitudes. Ben briefly smiled at Qui-Gon just before he spit in the face of the Jedi.
“I hate you,” Ben growled.
When he uttered those three words, Ben saw a visible change come over the Jedi Master. If he didn’t know better, the teen would have thought that the Jedi had given up. Not taking time to contemplate the situation any further, Ben seized the opportunity, pushing himself up off the ground.
Ben watched the Jedi slowly rise to his feet, wiping the remainder of Ben’s saliva from his bearded face.
“Now do you believe me?” Ben inquired.
“No, I don’t,” the Jedi quietly replied.
“Then I guess you’re just going to die disappointed, Master Jinn.”
The teen bent down and removed the knife that was hidden in his boot, his eyes never straying from Qui-Gon Jinn. He held the knife up so the Jedi could see the blood stains that still adorned the blade. Ben began to slowly approach the Master, his knife poised, ready to strike. He could feel the dark power swelling within him, giving him the strength that he was desperately needing. As Ben stared into the face of the Jedi, he noticed something odd in the man’s expression. The Jedi did not seem afraid of him like the others had been and that was something that the boy was not expecting.
“I don’t think so, Ben. I’ve never been disappointed in you,” the Jedi remarked.
“Another lie, Master Jinn. It’s just another lie!”
“I’ve never lied to you, Ben.”
Ben felt his resentment toward the man grow to new proportions. The boy was through talking as he sprinted towards the Jedi. He raised the knife, intent on piercing the heart of Qui-Gon Jinn. He was almost to the Jedi when an agonizing pain tore through his body.
Dropping his knife, Ben’s hand went to his throat and began tugging at the collar. Within a few seconds, the pain had ceased and Ben found himself on the ground. He glared at the Warden through the long locks of hair that had fallen in his face. The young man was furious that the Warden had once again taken his prize away from him.
“What are you doing now?” he asked, forcing himself to tamp down the irritation that he was feeling towards the Warden.
“I thought you might prefer to use this,” Dernal answered as he handed Ben a lightsaber.
“Why would I want to use a lightsaber? I told you that I never wanted to see one again.”
“I know you did, but this lightsaber belongs to Master Jinn. I thought perhaps you would like to use it instead of your knife. After all, it was probably a saber very much like this one that killed your parents.”
Ben stood up and grabbed the lightsaber from the Warden’s hand. He grasped it tightly in his hand and pushed the button to activate it. A brilliant emerald blade sprang from the hilt and the familiar hum seemed to energize the room.
Turning to face the Jedi, Ben smiled. “How would you like to die by your own blade?”
“I don’t intend to die today, Ben. I intend to leave here today and take you with me.”
“I’m not going anywhere with you.”
“You’d rather stay in this prison?”
“Than what?”
“Than come back home and become what you’re supposed to be.”
“And what would that be? A Jedi? The only reason that I would ever go back to the Temple is to kill the rest of you scum.”
He didn’t give Qui-Gon a chance to respond. Ben launched himself at the Jedi, swinging wildly, his movements to the point of no longer being in his control. His wrath was gaining power over him and he embraced his anger and the darkness with open arms. The smell of burnt flesh permeated his senses as the lightsaber grazed Qui-Gon’s arm. He took a few seconds to cherish the small victory and then began his assault again. Ben would not stop until Qui-Gon Jinn was dead.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Adi instructed Cordo to stand watch at the end of the corridor while she made her way towards the holding cells. Fortunately, only one seemed to be occupied and the Jedi was hoping that her Padawan would be behind the door. She rapped lightly on the door and called out to the young girl.
“Siri? Are you in there?”
“Master!”
The Jedi Master smiled as that one word echoed in her heart. Calling upon the Force, she easily manipulated the lock. The door swung open and Siri fell into Adi’s waiting arms. She hugged her Padawan, wishing that they had more time for a proper welcoming. Adi wanted to hear everything that had happened and wanted to make sure that her apprentice was all right.
“I was beginning to lose hope,” Siri whispered. “I was beginning to think that you would never find us. I’m so sorry I doubted you, Master.”
“You have nothing to be sorry for. Nothing at all, my dear Padawan.”
Adi wanted to whisk her apprentice away and put this nightmare behind them, but they both knew that they couldn’t leave just yet. The Councilor pulled back and looked at her beloved Padawan. Siri was thinner and her complexion paler than normal. Adi noticed that the girl was holding her arm at an awkward angle.
“How bad is it broken?” Adi inquired.
“I don’t know. All I know is that it really hurts,” Siri replied.
“We don’t have time to take care of it now. Do you think you can stand it a little longer?”
“Yes, Master. If I could get rid of this collar, I could access the Force.”
Adi fingered the collar for a moment and shook her head. “This isn’t like any Force inhibitor that I’ve ever seen. Unfortunately, we’re going to have to wait on this as well. Can you handle it?”
“I can do it, Master.”
The Jedi didn’t know if there was a time that she had ever been as proud of her Padawan as she was at that moment. Adi smiled at Siri as she pulled her into another embrace, being mindful of her injured arm. When the Jedi released her apprentice, she saw sadness in the young girl’s eyes.
“What’s wrong?”
“Obi-Wan…” Siri began.
“I know. Qui-Gon is in the arena with him now. I have to go back and help him.”
“What about Obi-Wan?”
“I don’t…” Seeing the distraught expression on Siri’s face, forced Adi to reconsider her words. “I’ll do what I can.”
“I want to help,” the girl declared.
“You can’t. You’re injured and I won’t take the chance of you being hurt again.
“But Master,” Sir protested.
“Siri, you must listen to me. I need to be able to concentrate on what I need to do and I can’t afford any distractions. So please, just do as I say.”
“Yes, Master.”
Adi knew that her Padawan would obey despite the conflicting feelings that were churning inside of Siri. She quickly hugged her apprentice one more time and then motioned for the girl to follow her. They made their way back down the hall and met up with Captain Mangan.
“Siri, this is Cordo Mangan. He is the pilot that brought us here.”
The Councilor watched as Siri executed a perfect bow, greeting the stranger. Adi glanced down the corridor and then back to Cordo.
“What’s the fastest way back to the arena?” she inquired.
“Back to the arena? Have you lost your mind?”
“We’ve got to get Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan out of there.”
“Look, I can sort of understand wanting to get Jinn out of there, but I’m telling you that you’re wasting your time with the boy. It’s best to leave him be,” the smuggler warned.
“No!” Siri shouted.
Adi placed a calming hand on Siri’s uninjured arm as she addressed the pilot. “He was one of ours and we can not leave him here.”
“If it’s a choice between the Jedi and the kid, who are you going to choose?”
“We will rescue them both,” Adi vowed.
“Then you’re signing your death warrant,” Cordo snapped. “You’ve got the girl, the best thing is to cut your losses and get out of here.”
“We have to try.”
“How do you know Jinn isn’t dead already?”
“I just know. Now, we’re wasting time.”
“After you, Master Gallia.”
Adi, Siri, and Mangan quietly moved down the hallways, easily managing to avoid the two guards that had been posted at the intersections. As they drew nearer to the arena, they could hear the crowd vociferously chanting Ben’s name.
“So, what’s your plan?” Cordo asked the Jedi Master.
“You stay here with Siri and cover me.” Adi reached behind her jacket and pulled out her lightsaber. “I’m going in the arena to help Qui-Gon.”
“That’s your plan?”
“Do you have a better one?”
“Not at the moment.”
“Then we’ll go with mine.”
“Fine.”
Adi walked up to the door that would open up into the arena and was stopped by the lone guard. As he drew his weapon on the Jedi, with a slight wave of her hand, she called upon the Force and yanked the gun out of the man’s hand. She then looked him in the eye and smiled.
“You’re relieved of duty. You may return to your quarters.”
“I’m relieved of duty,” the guard repeated. “I may return to my quarters.”
She watched the guard leave and motioned for Siri and Cordo to join her.
“How’d you do that?” Mangan asked, a hint of admiration etched in his voice.
“I’ll explain later. I’m just surprised that there aren’t more guards.”
“They’re all watching the fight. This place practically shuts down during a fight.”
“Is that how you escaped?”
The Jedi smiled at the smuggler indicating that she hadn’t forgotten their prior conversation. Adi turned her focus back on the matter at hand. She was about to attempt what many would see as an impossible rescue. Adi gathered the Force around her, allowing it to flow through her as she drew from its strength.
Sparing one final glance at her Padawan and Mangan, she opened the door and studied the scene before her. Somehow, Obi-Wan had gotten Qui-Gon’s lightsaber. Adi inhaled sharply as she saw the teen graze her friend’s arm. She quickly decided that the first thing that she had to do was even the odds against Qui-Gon. Stepping through the door onto the dusty floor, she called out to the Jedi Master.
“Qui-Gon!” she yelled, struggling to be heard over the crowd.
Summoning the Force, she tossed her lightsaber towards the Jedi, watching as it landed at his feet. She Force shoved Obi-Wan back away from Qui-Gon, giving him the chance to get her weapon. Adi’s eyes widened in surprise when she saw that he wasn’t trying to get the weapon that could help save his life.
“Go for the lightsaber!” she anxiously urged.
Adi cursed under her breath as she realized that Qui-Gon did not want to fight his own Padawan in battle. “Qui-Gon, do it now!”
The Councilor summoned the Force and flung a couple of guards that were heading towards her against the far wall. She breathed a sigh of relief when Qui-Gon dove for the weapon and activated it. She watched as he stood back up, prepared for battle. She knew that this was breaking Qui-Gon’s heart, but she prayed that he had realized that he couldn’t help Obi-Wan if he were dead.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He had seen the lightsaber land on the floor beside him and then had watched his apprentice go soaring through the air. Glancing over to his left, he saw Adi, urging him to pick up the lightsaber. Qui-Gon did not want to fight Obi-Wan. They had sparred many times together, always drawing a crowd, but this was not a simple sparring exercise. This was a fight to the death. Someone would die in this arena tonight and he knew that if there was any possibility of helping Obi-Wan, he could not become the boy’s next victim.
Qui-Gon picked up the lightsaber and pushed the button to extend the green blade. Obi-Wan had quickly recovered and was now circling the Jedi, preparing to deliver yet another blow. After the boy had spit in his face and told him that he hated him, a realization dawned upon Qui-Gon Jinn. This was not his apprentice; Mangan had been right and this young man was a cold blooded killer.
But the Jedi Master could not allow Obi-Wan to continue in his twisted frame of mind. Something had to have happened to change his compassionate Padawan to a murderer without a conscience. Qui-Gon was determined to bring Obi-Wan back from the edge that he seemed to be precariously hanging onto.
Qui-Gon brought up his blade to block the clumsy attack of the boy. His anger was making him careless and the Jedi Master was hoping that he would be able to use this to his advantage. The Jedi Master was aware of the fact that Obi-Wan was more than likely drawing his energy from the dark side. Thanks to the collar around his neck, Qui-Gon’s own connection to the Force was almost non-existent, so he had to rely on his own strength for the battle. But, the Jedi also was aware of the fact that without the Force, his strength was fading fast.
Master and apprentice stood locked in the heat of confrontation, neither one realizing that the crowd was silent once again. Qui-Gon immediately realized that Obi-Wan had left himself open as he would sometimes do when they sparred. The Jedi caught Obi-Wan across the midsection, causing the boy to stumble. He knew that it was just a burn and that it wasn’t life threatening, but Qui-Gon despised the fact that he had been forced to hurt the boy.
“It doesn’t have to be this way,” Qui-Gon stated.
“Yes, it does,” the boy answered, gritting his teeth as he fought against the pain.
The Jedi Master tried to ignore the boy’s piercing gaze. He saw the hurt and the betrayal reflected in Obi-Wan’s eyes and wondered what had happened to cause such anger and resentment in the young boy. Qui-Gon was drawn back to reality as Obi-Wan hurled himself at the Jedi Master, emerald streaks of light filled the air as the sound of lightsaber clashing echoed through the arena. The next battle had begun and the war had yet to be won. The Jedi Master somehow doubted that in this situation that there would be no victor in this encounter. Someone would walk away a loser and someone probably wouldn’t walk away at all.

Thank the Force Adi was able to get her lightsaber to Qui-Gon.
Now maybe he'll stand a chance.
If Obi-Wan is still reachable that is

Okay, yet another cliffhanger. You seem to be good at those.
So now that Qui-Gon has found his apprentice, and seen what he is capable of... For starters would Obi-Wan even be allowed back into the Jedi Order, and would Qui-Gon take him back (if he survives)? You're doing a really good job with this story.
Thanks for the PM.

I just hope that Qui-Gon is able to save Obi-Wan physically, then mentally as well.
Of course it would be hard for the Jedi to take Obi-Wan back, but with the understanding of the Force they would have to realize he was brainwashed and accept him back. If they cannot, they're not Jedi.
So say I.
What a terrible position for Qui-Gon to be in though, and how hard for Obi-Wan if he recovers who he is.
A truly heartwrenching story for all parties involved - and your readers.

Oh Queen of Evil Cliffies, you once again leave your loyal subjects with... well, a cliffhanger.
I wonder, if Obi-Wan and Qui both make it out alive, what will happen to Obi? Obviously, he can't go back to the Jedi, and the Council won't let Dark Force-user run around. I just hope they don't do anything they'll regret...
Awesome update. Can't wait to see what happens next!

Aw, thank you, thank you! What an awesome update!
So glad Adi has Siri safe and seems to have at the moment the situation under control.
Aw, I absolutely love how Qui-gon is taking this, he's honesty about never being disappointed in Obi-wan, and all that. Loved that he didn't reach for the saber to begin with, but he will have to do what he must and hopefully get them both out alive.
Such a splendid update! Greatly enjoyed it!

Great job, Padawan. I really liked the way you did the fight scene and also the way Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon are arguing with each other. Poor Qui-Gon, having to hurt Obi-Wan in order to get him to stop fighting.
Ah, another evil cliffie!

Whoa...crazy cliffhanger. That last line sounds very ominous and I can't wait to see what happens. I really hope Qui-Gon is able to reach Obi-Wan, but I'm worried he won't.
Great update!

Man, everybody's got themselves painted into a corner, here. I can't imagine how this can end except sadly.... Luckily it's not MY job to do that imagining!!
Will wait with baited breath for the next installment.

I'm glad Adi and Siri are safe, for the time being.
At least everyone has a fighting chance now.
Anxiously awaiting next post.

KELIA:
Thank the Force Adi was able to get her lightsaber to Qui-Gon.
Now maybe he'll stand a chance.
If Obi-Wan is still reachable that is
That will be the question that will have to be determined.
silverfighter:
Okay, yet another cliffhanger. You seem to be good at those.
Sorry about that--well kind of sorry.
Most of the time, they aren't intentional. It's just where the story seems to naturally break.
So now that Qui-Gon has found his apprentice, and seen what he is capable of... For starters would Obi-Wan even be allowed back into the Jedi Order, and would Qui-Gon take him back (if he survives)? You're doing a really good job with this story.
Thanks for the PM.
So many questions...and I can't answer them yet. Thank you so much for your kind words and you're more than welcome for the PM!
Valairy_Scot:
Of course it would be hard for the Jedi to take Obi-Wan back, but with the understanding of the Force they would have to realize he was brainwashed and accept him back. If they cannot, they're not Jedi.
So say I.
You have a very valid point. But of course, it is going to be difficult for everyone to deal with all that has happened. You didn't think I would make it easy, did you?
What a terrible position for Qui-Gon to be in though, and how hard for Obi-Wan if he recovers who he is.
Qui-Gon will need a lot of hugs! I'm sure that I'll have a few volunteers.
A truly heartwrenching story for all parties involved - and your readers.
What a compliment from the queen of heartwrenching!
calimora:
This is almost as much of a cliffie as the last post.
Sorry about that. I'll try and do better.
Quigonjecca:
Oh Queen of Evil Cliffies, you once again leave your loyal subjects with... well, a cliffhanger.
Queen of Evil Cliffies?
Thanks for the compliment, but there are others greater than I.
I wonder, if Obi-Wan and Qui both make it out alive, what will happen to Obi? Obviously, he can't go back to the Jedi, and the Council won't let Dark Force-user run around. I just hope they don't do anything they'll regret...
Me too...
Cole_Kenobi:
Aw, I absolutely love how Qui-gon is taking this, he's honesty about never being disappointed in Obi-wan, and all that. Loved that he didn't reach for the saber to begin with, but he will have to do what he must and hopefully get them both out alive.
Right now, that is Qui-Gon's main concern. Thank you so much for your kind words of encouragement.
dianethx:
Thank you so much, Master.
Thank you for your suggestions on this part. I really appreciate them!
Bastet:
I'm so glad that you enjoyed the update. I really appreciate your kind words.

It will probably be one of the most difficult tasks that Qui-Gon could face.
Thanks so much for reading and your support.

Gee...thanks. Of course, I don't mind people trying to guess what's going to happen. It's kind of fun! Thanks for reading.

Would it encourage you to know that the odds will improve? Thank you so much for reading. It means so much to me.
I tried very hard to get another post up before the weekend, but RL got very busy this week. Anyway, the post is finished, but this is one part that I didn't want to post without my Master going through it. I want to make sure everything is just right since the escape begins in the chapter. So, I do apologize in not getting it up today. However, I will get it up sometime in the next couple of days. I wasn't planning to be around until Wednesday, but I don't want to leave you all hanging that long, so I'll do a quick post within the next few days. Thanks for your patience and for being such faithful readers. I'm so honored that you all are enjoying this story so much!
I hope that everybody has a great weekend and a Happy Easter!

Excellent post as always!
This does not look good.
I really hope Qui can get to Obi, but things are looking bad.
At least Qui can defend himself now....
Good that Siri is with her Master.
Looking forward to the next post.
