RE: Healing Hearts: OC with Yoda, drama, angst Updated 4/15
Thank you all. I'm glad you enjoyed the gardening as much as I did. Here is the next chapter for ya:
Cleaning her room was a much harder task than digging and watering a small garden. In truth, the tasks involved the same amount of thought, effort, and physical activity, but there was one new element that was not present in the previous task.
Cleaning her room was much more a mental challenge. There was something mentally hard about it that made her put it off and then complete with great difficulty. She did not understand why she was spending her time sorting, folding and putting away her clothes that were to be found in all corners of the room. She did not see the point in making her bed when in some hours she would be asleep and under the covers. Dusty the significant dust and dirt from various counters only made her sneeze and caused her eyes to water. She discovered bad tests that made her depressed and feel worse about herself. And then there was the slight panicking feeling of not enough time to climb the impossible mountain of the task. She kicked herself for putting it off and then quietly cursed the Jedi master for rudely butting into her sad life and having the nerves to demand that she straighten herself out when there really was no point. Overall, the experience put her in a bad mood and she felt that she learned nothing.
Sarafire barely had seated herself on her semi neat bed, wiping away the sweat from her forehead. She looked at the time to see she had just made it and the master was due any moment. She scanned the now clean room and wondered how she managed to change her room so much. The room didn’t seem to be hers anymore. It lacked her characterizes of obscene chaos and a dark atmosphere. She had gone so far to put the lights on full power, chasing away the daunting shadows that stretched on her usually dark walls.
There was a now familiar knock on her door, signaling to her that the master had arrived and on time as she glanced at the time. She opened the door and stood back a step to allow the master to inspect her room. Again, she silently cursed him, hating the feeling of having to be proper without sound logic behind her actions. The master walked in without comment and made a complete, small circuit of her tiny room, poking and prodding at odd things. He ended his trip to the bed and sat down like normal. There was look of approval on his face and Sarafire found herself letting out a breath she was not aware she had been holding.
“I passed?”
Master Yoda nodded.
“Yes you did. Go out by your door and find something you will.”
She opened the door once again and stepped out, looking to her right and then left and finally down to the ground. There she saw a small vase holding a group of flowers she recognized from the garden. She carefully picked up the vase and brought it into her room. She spotted a place for the flowers and put them on a counter so the colourful flowers attracted all the attention to them.
“Change the water once a week and cut the stems a little as well.”
“Um, thank you.”
Sarafire wasn’t quite sure what else to say. No one had ever given her flowers or anything else for that matter. The gesture put her off balance and emotional uncomfortable. It was a rare gift and a strange one, yet she liked it all the same and wished she knew how to express her thoughts and feelings.
“Deserve you do. Did a good job on the garden and your room. It will brighten your room up and get rid of the smell.”
That made her blush. She had no idea her room smelled, but if he said so, she would believe it. She had learned never to question a teacher.
“What do you think of your room now?”
She took a moment to reflect upon the changes.
“It’s cleaner, a lot cleaner. It looks bigger and less crowded. But it doesn’t feel like my room.”
“Do you like it?”
She wanted say yes, because she knew that was the answer the Jedi wanted to hear. In general, if the Jedi made her change something, it was to be for the better and she was to agree to their opinion. But in all honesty, she still tightly clung to her claim it was a waste of her time and it did her no good.
“Um, er yes. It’s, er neater and more organized, like a Jedi’s life.”
With anyone else, that would have saved her from being caught lying, but with the Grand Master who knew and saw all, she was merely postponing the enviable. She glanced a look at him to see if he was buying her answer and she knew immediately he wasn’t.
“Tell the truth you should.”
Sarafire gulped.
“Sorry.”
She thought he was going to lecture her on the importance of telling the truth, but he let the subject drop and brought up another one she was not prepared for.
“How do you feel?”
She stared at him, wondering what he really wanted to know. Of course she felt bad and embarrassed for being caught lying to him. She was annoyed after being made to clean up her room. She was unsettled by the spur of the moment gift. Did he really want to know all of this?
“Um, I don’t know.”
“Close your eyes.”
She obeyed the command.
“Now look inward. What do you feel?”
She saw within her a swirl of colors, mostly shades of red and black. There seemed to be an occasional stream of blue and green, but she didn’t know what these colors meant. Instead, she explored her feelings.
“I’m confused…and annoyed, like irritated. Everything is a mess. It doesn’t make sense!”
She opened her eyes in a flare of frustration. Anger started to stir within her and the nearby vase trembled. Master Yoda looked over at the flowers and held a hand at the direction of the vase. The vase at once stopped rattling. He turned his attention back on Sarafire.
“Calm down.”
She was not going to calm down. She stood up and started to pace.
“Why? What’s the point? So what if I’m calm for like a few minutes? I’m not going to stay calm. Remember? I’m a mess. I’m hopeless. I’m-”
She found herself unable to move as though some invisible hand held her legs still. She could not lift her legs at all. Her eyes widen in fear and she looked at Master Yoda.
“Calm down you will.”
He stared at her with a steady, calm glaze. She could tell she wasn’t going anywhere until he got what he wanted. She took a deep breath. Some of the anger left her. She took another deep breath and began to look in herself again. She found the swirl mass of anger that stormed her soul and brought it up and out of her, as though she was throwing it up. It was not an easy anger to get rid of for it was massive and hard to mentally lift. It took her several tries, but she eventually released the dangerous emotion out into her room, which dissipated like red mist. It was then the invisible hands let go of her legs and she was able to move.
“How do you feel?”
There was a wild, shocked look in her eyes.
“I, uh, I’m …empty. I mean like not angry….but nothing else. I’m…”
“Calm?”
“Yes! It’s strange…and different.”
The Jedi Master chuckled to himself. Sarafire wasn’t sure why, but she partially wondered if it wasn’t because she looked like a fool. She certainly felt a bit more than foolish for throwing the tantrum. She looked down at the floor and wondered what to do. Standing there like the fool she was, didn’t make her feel good, but she could not quite sit next to him again.
“Get use to it you will. Calmer the room is and help you the room will. Before your room was filled with anger, coming from you. Eating you, your anger was. Hurting you, it was. But that has stopped. Enjoy your flowers, young one.”
With that, the small Jedi got up from the bed and started walking to the door and out. Sarafire snapped out of the daze she was in.
“Master Yoda?”
The master stopped and looked back on her. She blushed a bit, but made herself look straight in his eyes.
“Thank you.”
She said it very quietly, but she knew he had heard. She also knew he knew how hard it was for her to admit this. He simply nodded and walked away.
For the rest of the night, she spent her time curled up on her bed, hugging her stuffed animal, and admiring the flowers. These flowers were alive and vibrating with peace. She noticed the Jedi was right. The room did have a sense of peace. Perhaps that’s why she always felt worse before in her room. There was too much negative emotion that she was feeding off of and spiraling down to a pit of doom. Now that she had stop the downfall, how she was going to get back up.

thank you all for reading this story and your wonderful comments. Here is the next chapter.
Last night had only been a temporary relief. The pain, the anger, and the fear all came back by the end of her first class. The math class was once again a nightmare, but worse than ever before since the teacher looked at her hopefully for a volunteered answer. She had no answers this time and did not feel like speaking out again. After class, the students made fun of her one day out of character. They questioned Sarafire about her whereabouts and tried to get her to confirm a rumor she was in trouble with Master Yoda. She kept her mouth shut and refused to answer any questions. She pushed her way through the gathering students and went on with her day.
What really broke her heart was she had seen this coming. She knew the peace wouldn’t last more than a day. It was too crazy to think of such a thing. She knew the day spent in a garden, as pleasant as it was, was a huge mistake that she was going to regret later. The kids never stopped teasing her and anything she did out of her normal pattern was just more ammo to hurdle at her. Sarafire reflected that it might not be so bad to fail and be thrown out. At least she wouldn’t have to put up with this terror anymore.
She skipped dinner, not hungry because of the roughness of the day and went straight to her room. Her stress levels were high as were her negative emotions. She tore at the long bandage with one hand, desperate to remove it.
She had to cut again. Her mind would not allow any other thought than that. Her body craved for it. She was going to explode if she did not find a way to release the wind whirl of emotions. She growled at the tightly bound cloth, pulling, tugging, and trying to tear it. She unfortunately didn’t have anything to cut it so she kept on. Finally, she gave up and glared angrily at her arm. It was then it dawned on her. Use the Force. She closed her eyes and gathered what energy she could gather and focused its power on the bandage. There was a slight tug to feel as the end of the cloth was pulled out. That was enough for her. She unwound the rest with her right hand and discarded the roll half way across the room, never wishing to see it again.
She picked up the razor she had earlier located and put it near her arm. Her hand, then arms, and then whole body began to shake. There was an argument going in her head. She knew it was wrong to cut, but she also knew she had to. This was an addiction she couldn’t, wouldn’t stop. It was more than just letting the pain out that drove her to this sin. It was the addiction of relief she would feel as the pain sliced up her nerves to her brain. It was that she could control herself in a way the Jedi hadn’t forced her to know and practice and believe in.
The blade started to cut through her skin. She ignored the loud cries of her mind telling her to drop the blade and yelp in pain. Instead, she pressed her lips together and kept cutting. Her body cringed and begged her to stop. She wouldn’t. It was the feeling, the wonderful relief to know she was truly alive. Sarafire would have kept cutting a long wound except that there was a knock at the door.
She dropped the blade and cursed out loud. She knew exactly who it was and she knew she was in trouble. She looked around the room for the bandage, but realized she could not hold the Grand Master long enough to get the bandage on and still be able to explain herself. Yet, she didn’t like to show up at the door with a fresh, bleeding cut. Somehow, all the lovely relief she was enjoying had left her and was replaced with panic and anger. It was so unfair, so seemingly planned for the master to show up just as she had started her sin. It was almost like he knew and wanted to get her into trouble.
There was another, louder knock. The sound was sharp and demanding. She had to open the door. There was no excuse, no apology, or lie that could get her out of this. She shoved the razor back in its hiding spot and kicked the bandage underneath the bed. She half ran the short distance to the door and opened it.
“Hello Sarafire.”
She didn’t answer back. She was too busy worrying about her arm and torn between trying to hide it and coming out to confess what she had done and receive her punishment.
“Shy are you?”
She still couldn’t say anything. Her emotions started to boil over and the room began to shake again. Her body, especially her hand shook ever so little, indicating how much she feared the situation. The master took a step forward and held her left hand. Tears trickled down her face. The master pulled out a comlink. She knew what that meant and she silently cried harder. It was the end.
“Yes, Master Yoda here. A med pack I need. Student’s hall, room forty six.”
He put away the comlink back into his belt and led a crying Sarafire to her bed. There, she broke into loud, sad sobs where she cried her heart out. She was so sorry and so scared. It was wrong. What she had done was totally wrong and she was wrong. She couldn’t help it. She was a mess and all the trust and help the little Jedi had put into her was for nothing. Guilt swamped her. She hated herself. She had done nothing for him when he had done all and was still doing more. She didn’t deserve this. She cried and cried until there was another knock. Master Yoda had been sitting with her, not saying or doing anything, and got up to answer the door. He opened it and Sarafire saw through blurry, wet eyes a medic there with a med pack in hand. The small, green Jedi took the med pack.
“That is all. Thank you.”
“Are you sure Master Yoda? She doesn’t look alright to me. Maybe she should-”
“That is all Master Dant.”
There was something in Master Yoda’s voice that made it clear the medics were to keep this quiet. The medic bowed and left. Yoda closed the door and came back to the bed. Sarafire’s sobs had subsided to hiccups and a runny nose. The master pulled out a tissue and gave it to her. She loudly blew her nose and got up from the bed to throw it away. When she came back to the bed she was calmer, but not happy.
“I-I’m sorry.”
The master opened the med pack and turned it towards her.
“Clean and bandage your cut you will.”
She silently did this. It stung to touch the wound, but she didn’t flinch. She deserved this pain. She had trouble putting on the bandage with one hand, but she managed and looked at the master, wondering what next would happen.
“Tell me your day.”
She hoarsely told him of the teasing, the kids, the classes, and the general pain and torture of the day. She told him about how she was dying to cut herself and how she started to feel relief. He nodded every so often, but did not comment until she had finished her tale.
“Then why go to class?”
She stared at him for the millionth time, not believing what he was asking.
“Because I have to.”
“Have to?”
“I’ll get into trouble.”
“But trouble you’re already in.”
“I’ll get in more trouble.”
“Matters does it? “
She went silent, thinking about what he had said. He was right about the trouble part. She was in a lot of trouble anyhow. How much more could she get into?
“If I didn’t go to class, then what would I do?”
“Stay with me?”
“Huh? What do you mean?”
“If you don’t like your classes and pain they cause, then don’t go. Come to me. Yoda will teach you.”
“It will be like private classes? It will be more of yesterday?”
“Yes.”
She nearly forgot her tears and pain. The thought was amazing. It was unbelievable. She was a no one, a person who was picked on or ignored by all. Yet, here was the most important person in the order, paying attention to her and offering her something he rarely gave out at all.
“Under one condition though.”
Her hope faded slightly.
“That you do not cut and you give me your razor. If upset like that, come to me.”
She swallowed. That was asking a lot. She wasn’t sure she could do this.
“Break the addiction we will.”
She did not answer back, but walked over to her bookshelf and lifted a book to reveal the razor. She picked up the razor and handed it to him. He put it in his belt.
“Be alone you shouldn’t. Come, you will sleep with me. Gather your stuff.”
He waited for her to get some clothes for the night, her blanket, pillow, and stuffed animal. She blushed as he studied her stuffed animal.
“I’ve had it forever and it helps me sleep.”
He nodded and said nothing. She breathed a sigh of relief. Other people would have told her she was too old for such things. The master got up from the bed and took her and her stuff to his quarters.

YAY! A new post! *dances randomly* XD
This was another good one.
I wish i could portray characters this well. hehe.
I especially loved where Yoda told her to come to him instead of to her classes. He cares so much for her wellbeing.

Ohh..I liked the "tough love" Yoda gave her several chapters ago with cleaning her arm roughly and asking what difference does it make if she hurts herself, or if he hurts her? That she chooses pain.
Reminds me of the Yoda I like to write. The compassion lay behind the exterior.

RE: Healing Hearts: OC with Yoda, drama, angst Updated 4/22
Sorry this hasn't been updated. My own life fell apart and I too am trying to put it back together again. I think writing will help so here is the next chapter:
Ch9
This was not like any sleepover she had ever had, not that she knew much about sleepovers. She had been fortunate enough some years ago to spend a night with a friend she had. The sleep over was not completely sanctioned, so the two girl’s giggles had to be kept muffled and constant looks at the door were thrown. Yet, the sleepover consisted of snuck out sweets, gossip, and not much sleep. Sarafire reflected that one of the few fondest memories she had.
The sleepover with Master Yoda was far different. She had thought at first she was going to spend the night in “his” room, the only one she had known he had, but she was mistaken. The Jedi Master laughed when he saw the look of surprise on her face. He led her past his meditation chamber to a small bedroom with a low bed. There was a bookshelf full of old kind of dusty, thick books. A thick, large rug with once bright colors of red, blue, and green that looked old and soft lay in the middle of the floor, taking most of the space. The room had a sense of peace with it’s darken walls and the quietness that took one’s breath away.
She looked around, wondering where she would sleep. There was no second bed or even a couch. In fact, there was little else in the room. She turned to the master with a questioning look in her eyes.
“Sleep on the rug you will.”
She sighed and knew this was not going to be her best night of sleeping. She had always been particular about where she slept and she had a very hard time sleeping on any floor. Still, she had no real option in this matter and began to construct her bed with her blankets and pillows.
When Sarafire was done with her bed making chore she sat down on her fluffy nest and looked at the master again. The small Jedi had his eyes closed while sitting calmly on his bed. The Force radiated from him in a strong, consistent way that made her feel awe. With what little skill she had compared to him, she felt she was standing right next to a large light bulb, shining a bright as any she ever knew. The room filled with this glowing warmth and light coming from him. The Force even filled her. She had so rarely felt this. It was a shocking new feeling of power, hope, and goodness. Sarafire knew she was supposed to meditate too, but she wasn’t sure if she could feel his calm. She still felt the effects of her hard crying and felt too raw inside, but the calm him was protruding was too tempting for her to ignore.
She closed her eyes, slowed her breathing, and put down her barriers. His power penetrated her luminous body and she came to understand him. She attached her conscious to his flowing wave of the Force, traveling a timeless, traceless path with everything and nothing to note. She swirled through the galaxy while sitting still the hold time. She saw through the minds of many, heard the cries of billions, and felt the wonders to rich to ever recall again. When she returned, she returned with a new perspective of the world, one no classroom or holo could ever teach her.
When she opened her eyes she saw him smiling strangely at her. She looked at the time to distract herself from his blush inducing smile and received a shock. A full hour and more had gone by. Never had time flew by her with such a simple thing, normally boring activity. In the past, meditating could go on forever, driving her stir crazy.
The master got up from his bed and went to the bookshelf where he pulled out a dark container. He opened the container and she saw there were cookies inside. She nearly started laughing. Students were not allowed to have food in their rooms and she had heard many a tale of knights and masters getting in trouble as well. Yet, before her, was a small green Jedi who had broken the same rule that everyone else did. He handed her two cookies and took one for himself. She nibbled on the still soft and moist crumbling cookie. The master got up to a small fridge unit she had not noticed stuck in a corner and poured her a cold glass of blue nerf milk. She finished the second cookie with the milk and started to grow tired.
She hardly realized soon she was curled up in her comfortable blankets, hugging her stuffed animal in one arm. Her eyes were heavy and she found the peace of the room intoxicating. The peace was like a strong drug, luring her into irresistible sleep. Soon, before she knew it, she was asleep.
Sarafire awoke hours later in the dead of the night with the room dark. She had been jolted out of her sleep, stiff with fear and a pounding heart. She knew she had another nightmare, but for the life of her, she couldn’t remember what it was. Her heart wouldn’t stop beating furiously. It took her several moments to remember where she was and why she was there. The reason came to her in a flash of memory with the cutting, the crying, the shame, the milk, and so on. She reached out in the darkness of the room to find her stuffed animal. As her eyes grew use to the darkness she saw the outline of her favorite toy near the bed of the sleeping master. She hesitated, wondering if she would wake him up. She decided she needed the animal too badly to care and quickly grabbed for it. She hugged it tightly. Her heart was still full of suffocating fear and worry. She didn’t want to be here. She wanted her own bed in her own familiar room. She made up her mind she could not stay here and started to quietly head for the door, holding her animal.
“Stay you will.”
She hugged her animal tighter, feeling the near bursting heart of hers panic. She turned around and faced Master Yoda who was now getting off the bed. He raised his clawed hand and the lights came on. Sarafire covered her eyes with the bandaged left arm, but it was too late. She waited until she could bear the bright, blinding light and peaked through her arm.
“Sit.”
She sighed in submission and sat down on her blankets. She put the stuffed animal in her lap and started to fuss with it.
“Bad dream?”
She looked up and nodded.
“About what?”
She stopped messing with her stuffed animal and tried to think of what caused her to feel so scared.
“I don’t know. I just woke up and I was scared. I….I didn’t want to bother you, so I was going to leave you alone before I ….”
She couldn’t finish it. She couldn’t get herself to say she was going to run again. She squeezed the fake fur in her hands.
“I’m sorry.”
Master Yoda nodded and Force lifted the animal from her lap. She gasped unexpectantly and nearly yanked it back. The animal floated over their heads and onto the bed. She realized he did not want her being distracted by anything. She looked longingly at the brown, fuzzy animal, already wishing she could hug it again.
“Think about your dream.”
“I can’t!”
The Jedi gave her a deep, meaningful look. She backed down her will and tried to focus on the dream. As she recalled going to sleep, tad bits of the dream came back to her. She shook her head.
“I can’t really remember it. It was something like some master was accepting me as her apprentice and for some reason I wasn’t allowed to accept because I was all wrong or had done something wrong…I don’t know. Can I have my stuffed animal back?”
She looked hopefully at him. She didn’t want to talk about her dream. She just wanted to go back to sleep.
“We will talk about this in the morning.”
She understood that meant she wasn’t off the hook, but for now it was good enough. She was handed the animal back, which she held tightly, determined not to loose it again and curled up into a small ball. She didn’t know it, but to the master, she looked small, scared, and pitifully alone.

Yes, a new update and Yoda is going to help her.
Nice scene with the meditating and her in that room.

WOOHOO!!!!!!
A new chapter!!!!
Aw, this was so sweet.
I loved how Yoda kept cookies and milk with him.
Hang in there, both you and Sarafire!
I also find writing to be very therapeutic. It helps to distract me from the rest of the world for awhile, & often times I end up projecting my own feelings/circumstances onto my characters.
Looking forward to more!!

Life can be like that but remember there is always sunshine
just around the corner.
Sarafire needs some light in her life and Yoda is giving it to her, give her something to be happy about.
wonderful story.
