Time period: Forty years before TPM
Description: Leife, a small tropical planet, is a new entry into the Galactic Senate. Sabra, their first elected senator was as many of the prosperous citizens reluctant to free their slaves and chose to hold them by threats and intimidations. Taryn, a former slave partially trained in the use of the Force by a dark Jedi named Raque, is bodyguard to Sabra and was touted as an example of a slave’s loyalty to her former master. Taryn speaks so seldom many think her mute.
Chapter One
Taryn’s sage colored robes flowed silently as she followed her former master down the hall of the Galactic Senate. Sabra on the other hand rustled regally and commanded everyone’s attention as she passed. Her aged copper colored silk dress forced them to keep their distance of fear of stepping on it. The copper and pearl ornaments in her blonde hair tinkled softly as she acknowledged the equally regally dressed senators they passed.
One senator, of a species Taryn was unfamiliar with, was talking to Master Yoda and his former Padawan Master Dooku. Both Jedi turned and watched them pass but it wasn’t the senator that got their attention.
Taryn was accustomed to watching Sabra work out her deception on people unnoticed by either party. Her faint hope of leaving this post after the request to join the Republic forced the freeing of the slaves was dashed by the simple phrase, “Whatever will happen to your family if you leave me?”
Sabra settled into the Leife box of the Galactic Senate to await her introduction. She looked from one box to another nodding graciously as she recognized one Senator after another. A hush fell as the Chancellor took his place interrupting her show to her annoyance.
After lengthy speeches that made Taryn’s mind wander back to the Jedi they passed in the hall, her attention was attracted back to the moment and the introduction of the new entry into the senate of the illustrious planet Leife.
As the Leife senatorial box lifted and floated to it position Taryn felt a moment of queasiness, a quick breath and a Jedi calming technique brought her stomach under control. She smiled faintly at the thought of Sabra having the ultimate disastrous moment in front of everyone but in this too she was disappointed.
Sabra never short on words on her own or Leife’s accomplishment caused Taryn’s attention to wander again. He was here, in this hall, watching her. She could feel his gaze on her robed enshrouded figure. She tipped her head slightly to see his little green face but was interrupted my Sabra’s words –
“I would like now to introduce you to my proof of our well treatment of what some called slaves but we called other non-family members of our household. Ever at my side, of her own free will, is my friend Taryn.”
Taryn slid her hood off, bowed and smiled adoringly as Sabra demanded and she practiced until she could do it convincingly.
Even over this distance and noise she could hear, “Yes, her, it is and carrying a lightsaber, she is.”
The distinguished Master Dooku asked, “What action shall we take?”
“None for now, to confront her, the time will come.”
‘Thank you.’ Taryn sent, causing both Jedi to turn abruptly.

Very good start. I can't wait to see what the Jedi do when they find out Taryn was trained by a dark Jedi and that there is still slavery on Leife. Keep up the good work and update soon

Chapter Two
Taryn stood silently behind Sabra extending herself through the Force to assure her master’s safety. She could feel Sabra’s annoyance at her for not removing her sage green robe or at the least the hood as was required in polite society. This was Taryn’s only act of defiance over the years.
She wore her robe as a visible shield to separate her from Sabra’s misdeeds. She also learned from experience that people were less likely to speak to her directly as long as she was enshrouded. It has been so long since she spoke aloud she wondered sometimes if she still had the ability.
She was extending her senses to the next group of people coming near her master when she felt him come through the door. She had not expected him to come to this purely political affair. She peaked out from under her hood and watched him walk slowly around the grand hall watching her.
He was alone which surprised her yet she would have expected noting less of him. She blocked her thoughts from his attempts to read them. She could feel his gentle touch looking for the answers to his many questions but all she allowed him to find was a calm neutral signature in the Force.
She wondered if he felt guilty for not insisting she accompany him all those years ago. She wonder how her life would have turned out differently if she had been allowed to be trained in the temple. At the least her robes would be the traditional browns not these sage, cream and copper things Sabra insisted she wear.
As the evening wore on she felt him ease ever closer until he was by her side, his Force was as comforting as she remembered. Would he speak to her? How should she handle herself if he did?
She was glad to be in the shadows because she knew what she had to do for her own sanity’s sake. She crossed her ankles then gracefully and silently folded into the sitting position.
“Hello Master Yoda, I’ve missed you.” She said aloud.

I'm surprised Yoda refused to let her be trained....interested to hear his reasons for doing so I am.
