Title: Blessed in Darkness
Summary: Jaina learned that her entire family was killed by the Vong, and in effort to aide in a quick victory in the war, Jaina agreed to marry Prince Isolder, to gain the Hapes Cluster's support for the New Republic. The war is over, and Jaina learns that everything has been a lie.
Notes: Kyp/Jaina romance, Jag/Jaina angst. OC's.

The weather hadn't been the best in the last few weeks on Hapes. Jaina hated it when it rained. That always lead to being trapped inside the Palace for all the political brass to find her with unusual ease.
Isolder always seemed to be away somewhere, which made Jaina the constant center of attention since the war ended. Her old friend, Tenel Ka, was never around either to share in the attention.
In fact, since Jaina had began an official courtship with Tenel Ka's father, and been declared the next in line to the Throne, the young woman hadn't been seen on Hapes in months.
Isolder said there was no need for concern. If Tenel Ka did return, his mother would likely have her executed as well. So it was best she remain away.
Jaina had held great hope that Tenel Ka would come around, eventually. But as the months passed, it died away with Jaina's hope that somehow her family survived the battle with the Vong, and were not dead.
But Coruscant was nothing but a graveyard of itself. There was no way any of them survived that last battle.
Mom, Dad, Jacen, Uncle Luke, Aunt Mara.
Jaina turned away from her view of a sunny afternoon in the courtyard and closed the curtains tightly.
Tears stung her dark brown eyes, and Jaina felt as if she could cry again, but somehow the tears refused to fall.
Jaina had wept over her fallen family for weeks. For the lost love of Jagged. For not knowing what she had felt with Kyp in those last days, truly had been something worth discovering, or not. They all had went into that last battle over Coruscant, and none of them had returned for her. Her parents, her twin, her lover, her uncle, her aunt. They had all gone, and none of them had come back.
That was nearly ten months ago.
"They're dead," Isolder had told her. "You must learn to accept their loss, and move on. Move on, with me, little one. I will make you the Queen of thousands, and their very lifes will be in your sweet hands."
Jaina turned away from the window and sat down on her bed, as she recalled Isolder's next question.
"Marry me, Jaina?" Isolder had whispered in her hair, as she sobbed in his arms. "You don't have to agree right away." He said. "I can convince my mother to give you more time to decide. Then, we'll destroy those who took your family away from you, together. For them. For my people."
Jaina stopped crying as she realized the power that she would have as Isolder's wife. She could use the Hapen fleet to go after the Vong, and destroy them.
She would have revenge for her family, for Jagged, for Kyp.
Then perhaps Jaina Solo would know some peace.
"Yes, Isolder," Jaina whispered. "I will marry you."

Chapter 1
Three weeks later

Coruscant was alive with activity, as thousands of crew teams had been working around the clock, to rebuld from the destruction of the war.
Leia Organa Solo had been seeing that everything had been going to plan. From Wedge Antillies Rogue Squadron rebuilding the Air Traffic Control around the city, to the Military aiding in reconstructing any of the buildings that could be saved.
The old Senate was completely destroyed now. The newer Building had somehow survived. It was a testemant to Leia's life.
How much had she seen pass over Coruscant in her lifetime? First the new Order by Palpatine that nearly killed them all. The New Republic that she had nearly raised from the ground herself, as Mon Mothma had been suffering from an illness in the early stages, and had to surrender her riens. How she missed her in times like these
Leia sat back in the soft black colored seat inside of her new Office, and continued to gaze out at the fallen Imperial City. For eleven months, Leia had been fighting for control over what remained of the old government, and was trying to make it into something better. Something stronger.
A goverenment that wasn't going to fall after not even twenty years of standing in the place of old. A government that wouldn't cause her entire family to fight for it, and in the end, lessen in numbers by three.
It was a small loss, some would say. But it was to high of a cost for this former Rebel Princess to accept.
She would give anything to have those three dear beings back with her again, as two of them had been Leia's own children, and the other had been her dear friend.
Leia's blood still ran cold, as she remembered Kyp Durron returning from the Hapen Cluster, and telling her and Han the horrible news.
Jaina died in a fighter attack over the System, Princess Leia. There was nothing that could have been done to save her. I'm so sorry.
Leia had screamed at the Jedi Master that he should have been protecting her daughter better. They had been a team. Jaina had counted on him so many times, and in the end he failed her.
Leia had been far to distraught to tell Jaina's long time sweetheart, Jagged Fel, what had happened. Han had taken that job for her. He had even went to Jag's homeworld to tell him in person. It was what Jaina would have wanted. Han had said.
"Leia?"
Leia looked away from the windows to see her brother, Luke Skywalker, standing beside her. She had even sensed him in the room with her.
"Hello, Luke." She said forcefully. "How are you?"
"I was going to ask you the same thing," Luke smiled.
Leia turned away from his eyes, and continued her safe gazing out at the city.
What was she supposed to say? Oh, I'm all right. Say for the fact two of my three children are dead, and there's nothing that I could do to change that in a million years.
No one could turn back time.
Not even the great Jedi.
"I miss them," Leia finally whispered.
Luke held her gentally by her shoulders, as he felt the rush of sudden emotions inside of his twin sister.
"Me too, Leia," Luke said. "Me too."
Brother and Sister then continued to gaze out at the city. Both remained there, side by side, for most of the mid day.

Chapter Two

The wedding ceremony was small, and held inside an old church on the property of the Royal Palace. Jaina had out-right refused a Media Bash for a wedding.
Even if the man she was marrying wasn't Jagged Fel.
Once the ceremony was over, Isolder had taken her to one of the family Islands, outside of the province for their honeymoon.
He promised they didn't have to rush their relationship, and that he didn't expect anything but Jaina's promise to be his wife. Their marriage alone was going to save his family's political career with the people of the Cluster. That was enough for now. Isolder said.
The honeymoon passed by quickly, and Isolder had taken her back to the Palace, and left her there under the watchful eye of his mother.
Jaina's mother-in-law had been under the impression that it had been a most normal honeymoon, and that she would have a new granddaughter to look forward to, in nine months time.
Jaina allowed the old Queen Mother to believe what she wanted. In truth, Jaina wasn't certain if she could ever bring herself to share a bed with the Prince.
Isolder was much older than he used to be in those old holo-images Jaina had seen of his courtship with her mother. Then, he had been a very handsome man. Any woman would be thrilled to have such a man as her husband. But Jaina wasn't married to that Prince. This man had stood by as he had known his own mother was plotting to kill his own wife. The mother of his only daughter. A woman that Isolder had pledged his love to, once upon a time.
It was clear to Jaina that love was nothing to Isolder. It was also clear that those kinds of feelings would never be apart of their relationship.
Could she make love with a man that she would never love? Could she bare such a man his children?
Jaina really didn't think so.
But that man was all she had left now in the universe. He had offered her a life with hope and promise. And revenge.
For that, Jaina would gladly continue on as his wife, as that was all she had left.
Her revenge.

Thank you! Tenel will be in the story soon.
I should have said that this was based on a story that I was working on awhile ago, but never got off the ground. It was called Hapen Queen: Union. I'll post a link when I dig it up.

Kyp is still alive. It's just that everyone was lead to believe Jaina was dead, and Jaina was lead to believe that her family was wiped out, leading her into thinking marrying Isolder was actually a good idea. Kyp is going to discover something very important soon that will lead all the characters together.
