RE: A Day in the Life of a Hero - Han, Luke, Mara - HUMOR - *FINALLY UPDATED 9/12*
yes I'm a jerk, moron, idiot writer, but I'm finally getting back to this story, so I hope you enjoy the next part
-----------------------------------------------
Mara slowly stirred from her sleep, feeling the warmth of Luke’s breath on her cheek. Not wanting to break the moment, she merely shifted a bit, burrowing her face into his chest and snuggling closer to him. It had been a long time since she had ever remembered being held like this, being so comfortable with being so close to someone.
With her and Luke, it was obvious they fit.
Just as she was about to droop off to sleep again, a very unwanted item filled her sense.
Smoke.
Here eyes flew open and for a moment she tried to convince herself that she was still dreaming. This would be one heck of a dream. Black smoke was creeping out of the kitchen, coming from, what Mara would assume, was the cooking unit. Only it didn’t lok so much like a cooking unit anymore. More like a molten hunk of Hoth.
“Shavit!”
She sat up quickly, causing Luke’s arm to jerk from behind her and consequently waking him up as well.
“Oh blasters!” she heard him mumble as he rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. “What is that Sith forsaken smell?”
Mara was practically frozen in her seat. What was she supposed to do? Her eyes scanned the walls for some type of emergency call or even something to drive back the smoke with, but she saw nothing.
“Leia’s never going to give me a day off again…” Mara turned to see that Luke and Han were both wide awake, gawking open mouthed at the kitchen and the black smoke which now was practically up to the ceiling.
Mara coughed once, finally realizing that the smoke was spreading rapidly. Thinking fast, she grabbed a pillow off the couch and began to swing it wildly through the air, making herself a path to the murky kitchen where she could faintly hear the alarm starting to ring.
“Ah? Are the cookies done, Mara?” Luke called after her. Mara used all of her patience to stop herself from smacking him right there.
“Never let assassins cook, that’s my number one motto from now on…”
Mara bottom lip twitched as she heard Han’s comment, but she had more important things to worry about at the moment. Like the fact that now an even more annoying alarm seemed to have started through the house. It was a high pitched squeal that seemed to come from the ceiling.
Finally making it to the remains of the cooking unit, Mara reached down, grabbing her lightsaber off her belt and thrusted it into the unit.
“Jade! Turn off the Sithin’ lightsaber in the house!” Han cried.
Thankfully one of the alarms stopped as she pulled the lightsaber out, but the smoke didn’t. Still waving the pillow around her, trying not to inhale so much smoke, Mara looked around for the power cords. Finding them near the back, she quickly slashed through those as well. The smoking diminished, but did not stopp fully until Mara had found the heating pad and pulled the lump of cookie pans out of it.
One task completed, Mara stalked back to the family room where Han and Luke were trying to reach the small device on the ceiling that was making the high pitched beeping sound and flashing dozens of small lights.
“No! Don’t push that!”
“What about this one?”
“We don’t know what that one does either!”
“Well we have to try something!”
Mara shoved them both back and reached up deftly, clicking the off button of the smoke detector and plunging the house into silence. Except for the balck smoke and the molten cooking unit, it looked like a perfectly normal scene. Mara opened her mouth to make her next sarcastic remark when suddenly the door burst open and several men rushed in, dressed in gear that Mara had never qu9ite seen the likes of before.
Before anyone could think, the men proceeded to spray the entire smoke filled room with a gooey blue substance that not only instantly got rid of the smoke, but also covered Luke, Mara and Han from head to toe.
It took a minute for the men to realize what they were doing and the spraying finally stopped.
No one spoke for a full 30 seconds as Mara glared at them. She spat out a but of the blue goo and gave them her best evil eye.
Catching the hint, the fire fighters left the room, shutting the door behind them.
Mara turned back to see Luke and Han still frozen in shock, covered, as she was, in the blue substance. Cooking, it seemed, was not going to be working out today.
“Let’s try something…different.”

LOL! I wish I could have seen those three with all that blue goo covering them. I would just
have
to take a holo.
Uhm, how are they going to explain this one to Leia?
Hehe, I have an idea for what they could do next. And it is something Leia would love. Clean up and shopping for a new cooking unit!

lol...this chapter was very fun...sorry it took so long
---*---
Luke Skywalker had to give himself some credit. He had figured that by now he had done some pretty risky things in his life. Destroying a Death Star, taking on Darth Vader a couple of times, single handedly saving the galaxy more times than he could count…
Yet now he was realizing the seriousness of the situation he had just gotten himself into.
Luke shot Han a desperate glance, but Han was still looking at the sign. He was biting his bottom lip as if trying to contemplate whether or not he had a good enough argument to get them out of this one.
In desperation, Luke turned to Mara who was beaming at the building in front of them. She must have sensed Luke’s gaze though, cause she suddenly turned to give him a questioning glance.
“Something wrong, Luke?”
Luke’s eyes went wide and all at once he forgot what his argument was as he saw a twinge of something in her eyes.
It was the regular “you-had-better-be-able-to-bring-up-a-good-argument-farmboy-or-I’ll-embaress-you-from-here-to-Hoth.”
Wisely, Luke just managed a weak smile and forced himself to follow her into the building. As he passed Han, he clipped him on the shoulder, forcing him out of his daze.
“Don’t leave me alone with this!” Luke hissed at him, out of Mara’s earshot.
Han shot Luke a look of annoyance. “Look, kid, if you plan on getting married this is something you’re going to have to put up with this…” he paused and glanced around, now that they had entered the building, “…a lot.”
Luke wrinkled his nose and glanced around again, weighing his options.
Shopping, Mara, shopping, Mara, Shopping…
Thankfully before he allowed his brain to run away too quickly, Mara called back to him.
“Luke! Luke, come look at this!”
He quickened his pace, Han close behind him. They both sped into the nearest store where Mara was, but upon seeing what Mara was looking at, Luke cringed, trying hard not to let her see his reaction. She was looking through an assortment of dresses …but not just any dresses.
They had just stepped into a wedding store.
---*---
“Three strikes and you’re out, kid,” Han whispered to Luke as they both kept a safe distance behind Mara. She was not in the best mood right now, Luke having received his first strike by telling her he liked a color she didn’t, and receiving his second strike by questioning her choice of flowers. Luke was also constantly reminding her that if the public saw them together in a wedding store, they would get funny ideas and the news of them would probably get out faster than they wanted it to. But Mara was holding a deaf ear to his complaints and mearly continued to shop. She had, thankfully left the wedding store, but since then had visited about 10 other stores that Luke usually wouldn’t be caught dead in.
Luke shifted some of the bags under his arms to a more comfortable position. Glancing over, he saw that Han wasn’t having as much trouble as he was.
“Used to this, are you?” He asked his friend, half serious and half joking.
Han shrugged. “Comes with the territory. I got three kids, and Leia’s got a full time job. Imagine holding two hands, having one ride piggy back and carry three shopping bags.”
“I take it you’ve tried this tactic?” Luke said with a grin.
“Many a times…”
Mara turned another corner, walking faster, Luke and Han now struggling to keep her in their sight.
“You know,” Han started, “I wouldn’t think of Mara doing this kind of stuff. She doesn’t seem like the shopping kind.”
“Or the cooking kind,” Luke added, shifting some bags again.
“She’s a spitfire that one,” Han agreed. “You think you can handle it?”
Luke grimace. “I’ll admit, the game wasn’t that bad, I can deal with loosing. And the cooking…that was probably our fault, mostly. But the shopping…” he sighed and they turned another corner. Thankfully Mara had stopped and was examining a bunch of jewelry in a stand in the middle of the street, so they slowed down a bit. “…I don’t know, Han. I was never really cut out for this kind of stuff.”
“It’s a trait that most males have to put up with if they ever want to get married,” Han assured him. “Leia didn’t drag me into it until we had our first kid though.” He thought for a moment. “I guess it’s out first
kids
…does that make sense?”
“Nothing you say makes sense, Han.”
They both snapped up to see Mara walking towards them, something in her hands and a smile on her face. Luke cringed as she held up two different necklaces for him to see, a smile on her face.
“Which one, Luke?”
Luke bit his bottom lip, carefully studying them both. The only difference he could see was that one had a slightly larger stone in the center than the other one, but other than that, they looked exactly the same.
“I like the one in your right hand,” he finally said, with as much courage as he could muster.
At once, Mara’s face dropped and she frowned. “You mean you don’t like the other one on me?”
Luke’s eyes widened and he glanced at Han out of the corner of his eyes, pleading for help. Unfortunately, Han was looking the other way, probably on purpose.
“No! I mean…! I like both of them so much…ah…”
Mara mearly rolled her eyes at him and walked off in a huff, throwing both necklaces into one of Han’s bags as she passed him.
They both stood there for a moment, watching her walk off.
“I’m never taking a day off again…” Luke finally mumbled, and they both grudgingly hoisted their bags and followed her to the next store.
