Title: He was a mother's son
Summary: A poem based on the EU novel
Tatooine Ghost
. Leia reflects on Shmi Skywalker.
Notes: No spoilers for TG.
Dedicated to the wonderful memory of my Great Granny.
********************************************
I will never know your face or touch.
I will never see your sweet smile in the morning.
I will never know that kindness that once warmed my father's now black heart.
I will never know that gentle peace from reflection of memory.
I will never see what you saw in the hard life he lead.
I will never understand how anyone could love a son like him.
But when I seen your words on pages of script I knew.
He was not always the cold hearted monster.
He was a mother's son.
Her life.
Her love.
In that I will always know.
A goodness in a gentle soul.
A love unbinding.
A whisper of expression.
A warmth of a touch.
Will always say what really matters.
He was a mother's son.
Her life.
Her love.

I have to agree with Elfsheen, Sara. This was a really good poem.

Fabulous poem. First-rate work!! When thinking of Vader, it is often hard to remember that he had a mother who loved him dearly. This poem does a good job of humanizing him.

Believe it or not, but I like the NJO books.
"Han, we had our first kiss in the belly of a space slug. Believe me when I say that my expectations of doing anything remotely romantic with you have never been particularly high." - Leia in "NJO: Refugee"
