“How is it,” I said softly, “that you calm me when I came here for you?”
Luke laughed quietly, his body shaking. “Having you here is enough.”
Awww! You just described how you make me feel when my wife is near! Beutiful, simply beutiful!

A beta's work is never done...
Luke was lying down on a boulder near the middle of a small pool fed by
a
spring, staring up, the sunlight falling down on him.
Change that to
the
spring. But like I told you earlier, who's going to notice the spring, what with that great description of Luke that follows!
Sorry I'm late getting here -- but you already know I love this one. I think it's one of my favorites. You do such an excellent job portraying their emotions.
And thanks for the compliment on my bantering! But it's certainly not any better than yours.

It was on her fifteenth day in the darkness of the Nirauan cave when Mara Jade awoke to discover a rescuer had finally arrived.
It was not, however, any of the potential rescuers she would have expected.
It was Luke.

J_M_Bulldog
: Thank you.
Ariapaige
: I wouldn't call the day after it was posted late.
And thank you.
I wanted to get primarily into Luke's head, but instead I got both of them. Ah well.
Rivad_Bacar
: You are such a mushpot for your wife.
And thank you.
Michele
: Gahhh!
I'll go change it.
And no problem - I don't expect people to post the minute it's posted!
And aye, I do know.
Thank you!
And yes, your bantering
is
better.
Trust me on this one.

What a cute viggie, oba dear!
There were so many things I enjoyed about it, but Gabri and kayladie have already picked 'em all out.
I love how you portray Luke and Mara's relationship, and the little details are what make this series so great. I especially liked in this one how Luke was grieving for his dad. Very touching. Awesome job again, my dear mum!
I lay my head against his chest again, feeling him inhale and exhale. “We’re being sappily romantic,” I whispered.
“I know,” Luke whispered back.

And aye, you have!
*giggles at mental image of Elli scuttling along to different fics ...*
LianaMara
: LOL!
They do that, don't they?
Well, you got in semi-late.
And no one's commented on a little detail I put in there purposely just so you could find it! And aye, well, Luke is always comforting Mara, and I wanted it to be the other way around, and Vader's death was convenient.
Thank you, my dear petit Jedi enfant!

RE: It's Not the Heat, It's the Humidity (L/M viggie; yep, again - one of the Temperature series)
Okay, so I went back and re-read all of them in chronological order to try and see why certain ones strike me more than others.
I liked
The Blanket Incident
mainly because it was Luke's POV and I guess it's a little sentimental because it was the first one.
I liked
Warming Up
because you did so well at showing Mara's insecurities and fears and because that's probably the best 'comforting Luke' that I've ever seen. He knew just what to say. **sigh**
I liked
It Got Too Hot
because it was so funny (their banter in that one was classic L/M!) and so damn sexy. Not bad while still keeping it PG!
Lastly, I think I liked
It's Not the Heat, It's the Humidity
because it was Mara comforting Luke. As you said, we don't see that very often. I think this one showed how far their relationship has come, that they're getting comfortable enough to talk about what is a very painful subject for both of them.
So, I really loved them all, but I think those are the ones that affected me the most. Of those, I'm not sure I really could pick a favorite! I just can't wait to see what the next one will be!

RE: It's Not the Heat, It's the Humidity (L/M viggie; yep, again - one of the Temperature series)
Hey, oba, an idea has occurred!
I was rereading
The Blanket Incident
, and I found this paragraph:
I reached forward with my hand, almost touching her, than reluctantly stopped. Even with such a simple touch, I wouldn’t take advantage of her trust to sleep in my presence. I seemed to feel the weight of time as I remembered, years ago, her giving me a blanket simply because I was cold. That was the first time I ever saw the gently caring part of Mara, that so rarely made an appearance. I had seen flits over it over the years, since then, and remembered each and every one distinctly and clearly. Most of all, perhaps, in that time when I had been so emotionally vulnerable, as I hadn’t been for years – when Callista left me. That was probably the first time Mara had ever seen me in that context . . . and I wondered what she had thought.
Perhaps you could write one about Mara and Luke interacting during the whole Callista debacle? I don't have a title, but it would be a good idea, I think. I love hearing stories about them relating during/after Callista.

Dev_Binks
: Thank you.
kayladie97
: Wow!
You reread them all??
You're going to love this, but I agree with your choices - except the last, it hasn't been long enough for me to view that one objectively yet.
Those are my favorites, as well, for essentially the same reason.
The Blanket Incident
was just so simple - it's a nice, clear story, I think.
Warming Up
is probably my best Mara viggie ever (and I mean Mara, not totally L/M).
It Got Too Hot
was interesting because even though I did keep it to PG, that was the farthest I'd ever gone at the time.
Anyway, I'm growing fond of this one, gradually.
Rivad_Bacar
: Your sig is appropriate.
Emmi
: That's an interesting suggestion, Emmi - I'll definitely do something with the subject, even if a full viggie isn't devoted to it.
I'd forgotten I even had that line in there, so I hadn't really considered that the Callista incident even happened.
Also, that was from
It Was Cold
, not
The Blanket Incident
. TBI occurred before Callista.
Anyway, I suppose that's something I'll have to deal with now.
*sigh* Because it is going to affect Luke and Mara to some degree.
Ah well, this is all AU, I can do whatever I want to make things fit.
