Hey! Sorry to hear about your computer (or maybe it was a good thing? "Look! Up in the sky! Is it a bird? A plane? No - Sunlight!") I'm glad to hear you liked it.
Stay tuned for the next one!

applause I've not come across anything like this story on these boards. It's part Hitchhiker's Guide, a little Spaceballsy and even Pythonesque--and it's mighty brilliant!

This was more twisted than a pudding sale during a spoon shortage.

There were a lot of really cool lines, but I was two lazy to open up two windows and do the cut/paste thingie as I read--I read this in one sitting with no bathroom breaks alien_1

This had to have been one of the funniest lines...
“I think it still has minesweeper saved on it somewhere.”

applause Rock on, Yodimus. Rock on.

Oqi - This was more twisted than a pudding sale during a spoon shortage. - Sweet! a review in soundbite form! Well that's going in the description now.

Thanks for reading! And indeed, On is where I shall rock.

Timithor - Surprised you dont have more readers! well, this story seems to be generating a slow but unwaveringly continuous flow of readers, instead of a whole bunch at once. Kind of like a festering wound as it grows gangrenous... Or cancer. grin

Glad you liked it though. Enjoy the rest!

My personal fanfiction archeologist dwarf slaves have informed my of a small detail in this story which, even after several reviews of it, I seem to have missed.
Specifically, the lack of six large paragraphs in the final chapter.

It turns out that, while my typing and computer aptitude hangs at around average, when it comes to the ancient art of copy/paste I tend to score below the 'monkey who knows sign language' level. So now I gotta go back and pull a Lucas. Excuse me while I bang my head against a wall.

You might find that this addition clears up a few questions and inconsitancies regarding the story. Like the lost time between the gangsters' touch down and their entrance into the hangar. or why the four of them never left immediately after Yodimus rushed into the hangar, even though the thugs didn't come smashing in until many hours later. why my descriptions after this segment seem to imply that the four were in some sort of fight. You know, the little, unimportant details.

Oh, and it's kinda funny, too.

You can find the chapter in question thirteen posts up. The new-but-not-new-at-all material is in bold.

I love those missing paragraphs.

Favorite parts?
The pediatricians and the smiley face band-aids.

This entire sentence is simply brilliant...
The group didn’t notice until a good two hours later, and when they did, the chaos that resulted eventually caused the incineration of an undersized vest, the repainting of an entire fifty-meter wall with blaster marks, the reorganizing of Darin’s nose shape, the shaving of Rybinstall’s goatee, the reading of funeral rites from “The Holy Book of Correllia” by Melinworth, the admittance by Yodimus that the book was actually made up entirely by him as a scam, the reordering of Yodimus’s nose, and a complicated attempt at burning the dead Wookie in the jetting flame which only resulted in the destruction of the entire hanger’s arsenal, which included three mounted heavy repeaters, everything mildly explosive in Yodimus’s coat, and seven different kinds of rocket launchers.
Hmmm, I imagine roasted dead wookiee has one hell of an aroma to it.

The image of the assorted scoundrels and smugglers with their horde of credit chips is really hilarious--especially as everyone is cuddling one data chip thingy.

Thanks for posting these extra paragraphs.

You are very welcome, Oqi. I had too much fun with this story to just go and leave any of it out like that, even by accident.
And I'm flattered that you consider an entire sentence written by me to be brilliant. Especially when the sentence in question is a paragraph long. grin

I’ve got one word for you Yodimus: Blissfully Insane, it is one word in Yiddish I believe, although what that word is I don’t know. Alas, I don’t speak Yiddish…

-Above Gunner, the cockpit door of the ship he'd been leaning on sealed shut with a hiss. "I have?"

He sighed, "Yes."

The ship vibrated into preflight operations. "So how much you think the good doctor will give us from this latest endeavor?" Darin continued, trying to change the subject before he felt compelled to backhand him.

"I doubt anything. Hey, isn't this your ship I'm leaning on?"

"Exactly. Nothing. This is exactly what I can't stand about..." Gunner's switch in subject suddenly caught him up. He continued slowly, "Yes...that's my ship. Why?"

Hilarious, two big oafs; I’m thinking Lenny & Squigy, but bigger …

-And worse yet, poor Gunner hadn't even gotten a chance to be sufficiently developed as a character. So he can't even trust that you, the prime viewer, will care that he died.

That’s ASSuming Yodimus, and I can’t abide by that. Of course I care. No more playful hetero-banter. P.S.-I love the way you interact with the audience.

-It bothered him that subtracting a symbol from itself did not always equal zero, as he felt that had to violate several basic mathematical laws.

Hey! That’s how I balance my checking account!

Comparing Darin to a Jusdi was a nice touch…in the non-comedic vein.

-Nothing in nearly the whole universe, save the Sun crusher and the Death Star teaming up or…

Yeah, or a cannon-toting madman.

They all at once screeched to an abrupt halt, the only thing dropping faster than their acceleration was their hope.

You forgot the sound effects of braking like in the roadrunner cartoons… grin

-Darin turned and gave the lanky goof his best representation of The Evil-Eye. The lanky goof replied with The I-Don’t-Know-What-That’s-Supposed-To-Mean-Eye.

Alright, I’m gonna´stop listing every line or sequence that makes me thump my head on the desk with laughter. Usually when I laugh this hard, I start to suffocate so I have to knock my system back into a sense of “normalcy”. So from this point on I’ll hold until I reach the end for further commentary…C_Ale out.

O.K. I know what I just said, but this was too good, almost like pudding, but not quite…

-Once everyone was assembled, and once the two scientists who’d been advising their leader so closely on their target’s whereabouts pointed out the right direction, they were on their way. They didn’t stop but once on their grim march – to gawk at some major belpher road kill.

Oh, well, they also stopped to re-supply. And again because Agg needed to take a bathroom break, and no one was willing to argue with that. And of course there was traffic, but there’s always traffic. And then there was the mime they stopped to beat up, can’t blame them for that. And there was this really nice restaurant. But they got their food to go, because they were determined, and damn it, nothing was going to stop them.

laugh laugh laugh
I've always had a good chuckle at whatever you've thrown together in the OCA, and with a little subtle nudge by oqi (with a cattle-prod) I've finally made it down to your section of the universe. Of course now I've gotta' go check out Planet Hopping! This was better than someone making a movie of a ten foot gorilla running amok in NYC. actually, i'm not intersted in that at all...
EDIT: Also read customer satisfaction, which was also brilliant (but locked, as to ehy i'm responding here)...I was a video store clerk/manager for seven years; so the whole scenario was sooo on the money...(I secretly believe randall from clerks is based on me tongue ) And a cameo by that rotten Yodimus to boot! (present company excluded!) applause

Awww, come now. I'd like to think I'm a little rotten. I took my character's namesake didn't I? tongue

Is it wrong that I laughed at all the excerpts you quoted? Maybe I'll claim it was the 'good trailer effect' and those are the only actual funny parts in the whole story, and you're just that good at picking 'em out. Disregarding whether or not that's true, I will consider it as such in a vein attempt to keep my ego in check.

"Customer Satisfaction" is locked, huh? I guess that's standard proceedure, though. Thanks for the heads-up. I'll have to update my profile to reflect my awareness of this.

Enjoy the sequel.

This is hilarioulsy insane. Glad I found the advertisment in the 'Cliff's Notes' Thread.
I have just stared and don't know how far I will get in one session. It's making me rather fuzzy in the head.
The 1st person narrator! love
Almost as if somebody looked into my head while I'm thinking, only with different thoughts.
laugh cry laugh
But it's good to know my brain is not the only one running on crazy default.

I love you other narrator, too. Those comments. And more or less redundant information. Your way of telling the story is unique and i love it. (Even if I can't take to much of it at once blush )
the story is much like good absinthe: It's great, you want it, and more of it, and even more, but try and drink more than one glass straight and wave your brain good-bye. silly

What can I say?
I'll be back. grin

Hi! Thanks so much for reading! I'm happy you're liking it!
Please, take your time, enjoy the view.

Neat! Us crazy people gotta stick together, y'know?

Hmm...interesting. Cuz Oqi claimed she read this whole story in one sitting. So if that's true, then if she ever happens to come by my way, I may want to conduct an experiment...
