You're offline again.
I like talking to people!
Oh, and were you aware you've been nominated for Best New Author?
You've also got (at least one nomination so far):
Best AU Story
Kyp Durron and the Perogies of the Sith by Abby
(don't ask me how this one's AU . . .)
A twist of fate by Abby
Best Humor Story
Kyp Durron by Abby
(I think this is the Perogies one, I just copied & pasted what was listed)
Best First Story
A twist of fate by Abby
And then the Best New Author one.
This isn't the final list though.
I don't know how many nominations you've got, I just know it's at least one to make the list (but it's three on the Author one . . . it was 2 and then I nominated you to make it three, but they haven't counted mine yet, apparently, grrrr.)

That was a nice “little” post. Wow! I loved the same scene from two different point of views. Oh, that is going to be fun.
But now you really threw me off with whatever was in the door! Eek!

Part 15
*~*
Eventually, the excitement of Jaina’s fall faded, and one by one the patrons of the mess hall lost interest in the scene by the door. The sounds of dozens of voices soon swelled and filled the room once more, as the occupants returned to their conversations with zest. Wedge and Tycho had disappeared all together, abandoning their vigil of Kyp, Jaina, and Jag, still in various positions on the floor.
Jag was the first rise, followed by Kyp, who immediately leant down to assist Jaina.
“I’m fine,” she insisted, shrugging Kyp’s hands away and climbing slowly to her feet. “Just…winded.”
Kyp stepped in front of her, hands at his hips, staring down at her determinedly. “You hit your head.”
Jaina squinted her eyes at him, then pushed past him on her way out the door, hesitating just long enough to rule out the presence of a force-field. “I said I was fine.” she repeated.
Kyp tailed after her, his long strides allowing him to catch up easily. “Jaina, I can
feel
that headache.” he countered, for indeed the pain in her head was radiating to him almost as clearly as if he was experiencing it himself. “Let me take you to the infirmary.”
She stopped suddenly, spinning around to face him, brown eyes burning with fierce independence that all but masked the fear and worry lingering in the background. “I don’t need you to take care of me,” she insisted through clenched teeth, jabbing her finger sharply at his chest.
Kyp laughed, shaking his head, and caught her slender finger in his large hand. Jaina grunted and tried to free it, but Kyp held fast and worked her whole hand into his. “No Jaina,” he agreed, wearing a grin he knew she was dying to slap off his face. “You don’t
need
me to take care of you. But did you ever think that maybe I want to?”
Jaina tried, and tried valiantly, to hold her steely glare, but it reluctantly resolved into a softer look, and she sighed. “You just had to go all noble on me, didn’t you Durron?”
Kyp smirked, but said nothing, and instead eyed her expectantly.
Jaina sighed again, then rolled her eyes and waved her free hand in an exasperated gesture. “Fine,” she muttered. “Lead the way.”
*~*
The walls of the treatment room had been painted a glossy, blinding white, which, unfortunately, reflected glaringly off the smooth, metallic surfaces of the floor, ceiling, and nearly everything else in the room. Jaina could have sworn that the burning pain in her skull had increased ten-fold upon entering into the windowless room, and she sat cross-legged on the single cot, eyes closed, leaning over with her face hidden in her hands.
Kyp, sitting next to her at the edge of the cot, was gently sweeping his palm over the top of her head, sending soothing waves through the Force that helped some, but not enough – for all his power, Kyp’s specialty did not lie in healing. Jag –
When did Jag show up?
– was leaning against the wall next to the doorway, silent, but projecting a strong sense of concern.
The medic entered the room after a short while – the medical droids were usually reserved for more serious emergencies – and briefly surveyed the three bodies around him. Instantly recognizable, all three of them – standing nearest to him, back to the wall, was the grim-faced Chiss-raised pilot of the Twin Suns squadron, Colonel Jagged Fel; at the cot’s edge, Jedi Master Kyp Durron, also of Twin Suns, doting upon the hunched form next to him; and hunched form herself, in the centre of the cot, in obvious discomfort, Borleias’s resident Goddess, and squadron leader of the other two, the infamous Jaina Solo.
He whistled his astonishment sharply, receiving glares from both of the men as Jaina shuddered visibly.
Head injury, then,
he decided, approaching the cot.
“I’m Grem, the medic,” he said, setting down his kit on the gleaming table beside him. “What can I do for you?”
Jaina lifted her head from her hands, and eyed the medic with a squinty glare that made him feel wholly uncomfortable. “You can get rid of this sithing headache, and stop asking ridiculous questions.”
Kyp stifled a smile at the sight of the medic’s discomfiture. “You heard the lady,” he said. “Get to it.”
Grem the medic then reached into his bag and withdrew the required items, willing his hands not to shake. Though normally he would have requested that the two men leave the room, as anxious as their presence made him feel, he had no desire to request their departure – though whether he was more worried about their reaction, or hers, to such a demand, was difficult to say.
Several instruments and two brightly-coloured capsules later, the pain in Jaina’s head finally began to subside. The medic hurriedly collected his equipment and scuttled from the room, on his way out suggesting – with an undertone that implied an order – that Jaina remain in the treatment room for another half-hour.
The three remained silent for several minutes, Jag now seated on the countertop across from the cot. At last, it was Jag who broke the silence. “So what was it?” he asked, speaking the question that was on all of their minds.
“I-I don’t know,” Jaina admitted.
“But didn’t you…”
Both Kyp and Jaina shook their heads adamantly. “Nothing,” Kyp continued. “I could sense absolutely
nothing
in the doorway.”
“Which is why I ran into
it
so spectacularly.” Jaina added.
Jag, face contorted in thought, took a moment before suggesting, “Yuuzhan Vong?”
Again, the two Jedi shook their heads.
“But you’re unable to sense them,” Jag said, his confusion evident. “How can you be certain–”
“Because with the Vong, though we can’t sense
them
, we
can
sense an emptiness, or a void…a sensation of-” Jaina paused, looking for the appropriate word.
“Wrongness.” Kyp provided. “With this, there was just…nothing.”
Jag scowled, not liking the sound of this at all. At least if it had been Yuuzhan Vong, they would be dealing with something known…whatever this was was entirely foreign, even more so than those extragalactic warmongers. “Then what was it?”
“A being, definitely,” Jaina provided. She made a thoughtful face, then continued. “When I ran into it, it felt, physically, like running into a person. And, for the split second that we were in contact, I felt a, um…like a
spark
of surprise. I thought I’d imagined it, actually…but now I think it came from whatever, or whoever, was in the doorway.”
“I didn’t feel that
spark,
Jaya, but I believe you.” Kyp said, easing his arm around behind her. “Maybe it had something to do with you being in contact with what-or-who-ever-it-was.”
“Perhaps,” she agreed, shivering.
“But you have no idea what could have been?” Jag repeated, anxious to get to the bottom of this mystery, though at the same time realizing that the solution would not present itself so quickly.
“Other than the fact that it was alive,” Jaina replied, “Not a clue. Too weird.”
Jag smirked, and jumped down from the counter. “Far too supernatural for my Imperial mind to comprehend,” he admitted. “If you don’t mind, I’d like to go and take care of a few things.”
Jaina smiled, and nodded. “Sure, Jag. I’ll find you later for the sims, okay?”
Jag grinned and bowed with supreme exaggeration. “As you wish, Goddess.”
With one final nod, Jag Fel turned and exited the room, leaving Kyp and Jaina alone. Jaina immediately fell against Kyp, leaning her head against his chest and curling into his embrace as his other arm tightened around her.
“Now aren’t you glad I made you come?” Kyp whispered into her hair, placing a gentle kiss into the shining brown locks. “You
feel
much better now.”
“Call it Solo stubbornness,” Jaina said, with a smile. “Thank you.”
“For what?”
“For taking care of me,” she replied.
Kyp traced a finger down her cheek and smiled. “I thought you didn’t need me to take care of you,” he whispered, gently.
“I don’t,” she admitted. “But I like it when you try.”
Kyp shifted her out of his arms then, cupping her face with his hand, using the other to brush the hair from her forehead. “Good,” he replied, softly. “Cause I’m not going to stop.”
A slow grin spread across Jaina’s face as she caught Kyp’s hand in hers. “Will you just shut up already and kiss me?”
“Happy to,” Kyp replied, and he lowered his lips to hers.
“
Ahem…
”
At the sudden sound from the door, Kyp pulled away from Jaina, and turned to investigate.
“I’m not much of an expert on Jedi healing techniques,” said the medic, leaning in the doorway wearing a wry grin. “But something tells me
that
isn’t one of them.”
Jaina, cheeks flushed, turned away from the medic, looking at something on the floor, while Kyp muttered quietly about remembering to lock the door. He raised an annoyed eyebrow and aimed it in the direction of the medic. “Like you said, you’re not an expert. What do you want?”
The grin faded, and he took on the appearance of a small child being accosted by Darth Vader. “Um…General Antilles is here…I wanted to make sure you wanted to see him first.”
Still looking away, Jaina muttered, “Send him in.”
As the medic left, Kyp slid off the cot, and walked around to hop up on the countertop that had formerly been Jag’s perch. Jaina settled at the edge of the cot, looking at the door.
Wedge Antilles entered a moment later, concern written clearly in his expression and body language. His eyes settled briefly upon Kyp, then he turned his attention to Jaina. “Are you all right?” he asked.
“I’m fine, General,” Jaina assured him. “Just a painful bump on the head.”
Wedge sighed loudly. “When I heard you’d come here…” He paused, glanced again at Kyp, then settled his features into a very Jag-like grimness. “Something…strange…happened out there, didn’t it?”
Jaina and Kyp exchanged a glance.
“Define strange, if you will,” Kyp requested.
Wedge leaned up against another countertop, hands in his pockets, looking so unlike the collected leader he truly was. “I was watching you leave,” he began, after a moment. “I saw you turn around, then back, and then you were on the floor…but I don’t remember how you got there.”
A worried frown creased Jaina’s forehead. “You turned away?” she offered.
Wedge shook his head firmly. “No.” he admitted.
“And you saw nothing in the doorway?” Kyp pushed.
Wedge started to shake his head, but then hesitated. “I feel like I
should
have seen something,” he told them. “Like I feel I
should
remember Jaina falling…but all I’ve got is a sensation that I’ve lost two very important seconds of time.”
The three of them looked warily at each other.
“Something very strange happened here today,” Wedge repeated, looking back and forth between Jaina and Kyp. “And I intend to get to the bottom of it.”

posts!!! the perfect study break! Hmmmm. So this mysterious cloaked individual is strong enough to manipulate Wedge Antilles. That is impressive. That is really impressive. Because Wedge was in a room full of other strong minded people. hmmmm. <looks thoughtful>
I think you're going to have to give us another post, Abby.
I want to know what's going on. Very awesome!! And thanks for the pm's! I really appreciate them! Congrats on the nominations too. You totally earned them!

I loved the Kyp/Jaina/medic interaction.

RE: A Twist of Fate - Kyp/Jaina, Jag (NJO, Rebel Dream) ~ Updated June 2!!!!!!!!!
YES!! Finally got to sit down and read all this, and wow, I'm glad I did!
I loved the lightsaber duel post. Loved loved loved. For many reasons.
Jaina responded to his proclamation with a smirk and a spinning blow. “You need to be taken down a notch. Your ego has reached dangerous proportions.”
Kyp snorted, and lunged. “And you think you are the one to do it?”
“I am the Goddess,” Jaina countered, parrying his strike and countering it with a wide sweep aimed at his middle.
Kyp flipped out of the way of the deadly blade and resumed his attack. “Sounds like I’m not the only one with a Death Star of an ego,” he quipped.
That's the main one though. That was totally great and very realistic.
“She’s changed,” remarked the blue-eyed officer, lifting his cup of caf to his lips.
“Again,” added his brown-eyed companion.
“Or further,” the first suggested.
Wedge Antilles grinned. “The girl has more layers than the Coruscant underworld.”
Wedge and Tycho!! J'adore... That post runs a close second.
“They’re looking at us again,” Jaina stated, resisting the urge to look behind her to where she knew General Antilles and Colonel Celchu were watching them.
Jag, who was facing the two officers, scanned the room casually, sweeping his gaze by Wedge and Tycho just long enough to confirm Jaina’s suspicions. “They’re talking in hushed voices.”
“So are we,” Kyp pointed out.
Jaina threw him a mock-glare. “I think they’re up to something.” she decided.
And then...
“Something…strange…happened out there, didn’t it?”
Jaina and Kyp exchanged a glance.
“Define strange, if you will,” Kyp requested.
You have the witty banter between many differing parties completely NAILED. This is excellent!
