Ooh! Good use of contrast with a light character and then a dark one. Nice work.
I liked the evocation of Kun's long sleep and the events that awoke him. His views of the characters provide an alternative way of looking at them - in terms of their potential for corruption. Very Sithly. Mwahaha.

padawan, Tahi, glad you liked the contrast in the mood.
If you read the last post carefully enough, you'd know where we're go to next in the story, so let's go there. This is the first of several posts there.
Realspace welcomed Luke with the view of Dathomir and a Hapan Battle Dragon in orbit. Luke smiled as he noted the red color of its hull and guessed which ship that was. His suspicions were confirmed when he received a query.
“Attention, unidentified X-wing. This is the Song of War of the Hapan Consortium. Identify yourself immediately.”
Recognizing the voice and the mind behind the voice, he activated his comm. panel. “This is New Republic X-wing AA-589. Jedi Master Luke Skywalker piloting. Captain Astarta, it’s good to hear you again.” He could sense Captain Astarta’s surprise and slight annoyance. Like nearly all the Hapans he’d encountered, she wasn’t exactly fond of Jedi. Despite her feelings, she kept them out of her voice as she responded.
“Master Skywalker, this is a rather unexpected surprise. The Queen Mother wasn’t informed of your arrival to this world.”
“My arrival here is a matter of convenient timing, though She must have known I would come here eventually. I take it the Queen Mother and her husband are on Dathomir.”
“Correct.”
Luke paused momentarily. “And what of the former Queen Mother, Ta’a Chume?”
“She is back in the Fountain Palace on Hapes.”
Making certain to keep quiet, Luke mentally heaved a sigh of relief. He remembered how the former Queen Mother did her best to lull him into a sense of complacency and arranged the attempted assassination of Leia. He also remembered how he humiliated her by overpowering her will and forcing her to admit to the attempted assassination. No doubt she still harbored a grudge towards him, to put it mildly, and he wasn’t looking to facing her again. More to the point, after dealing with Palpatine for the past year, he had his fill of manipulative, power-hungry individuals to last him a few years. However, he knew he’d have to deal with her again if Isolder and Teneniel Djo let their daughter attend his academy when she was old enough. But that was in the distant future, and as Master Yoda told him, always in motion is the future. He shifted his attention back to the here and now.
“Understood.” Choosing to soothe Captain Astarta a little, he asked, “Would you provide me with the landing coordinates for the Singing Mountain? I didn’t take the opportunity to learn them the last time I was here.”
He could sense her surprise as she responded with the coordinates. Both Hapes and Dathomir were matriarchal societies, and their views towards men were similar. While what he said was true, it was also aimed at soothing any of her frayed nerves caused by injured pride. “Coordinates received and acknowledged. Please inform the Queen Mother of my arrival. Skywalker out.” Closing the communication channel, he altered his trajectory and headed down to the planet.
Artoo twittered and sent a query to Luke. “Don’t worry Artoo. I’m not planning to ‘play dead’, like last time. And this isn’t Dagobah.”
As Luke flew to the Singing Mountain Clan, he took in the scenery and opened himself to the Force, knowing that he was practically announcing his presence to every witch on the planet. Once again, the ambient life on this world caused his nasal passages to feel as if they were burning. He banked his fighter to one side as he passed over the wreckage of the Chu’unthor trapped in a tar pit. Once a space-faring Jedi academy, it suffered mechanical failure and crashed on Dathomir three centuries before. Yoda and several other Jedi came to rescue the survivors and retrieve the records on that ship. But the witches back then had resisted, killing two of the Jedi masters who had accompanied Yoda – Gra’aton and Vulatan. The conflict ended in a stalemate, and Yoda entrusted the safety of the reader disks containing a wealth of information on Jedi lore to a young witch named Rell. Three years ago, he met Mother Rell and obtained the locker containing the reader disks. She had also foreseen the establishment of his academy. He hoped to tell her that her prediction had come true.
As the Singing Mountain came to view, he started decelerating. As he circled the mountain, he spotted an expensive Hapan transport – most likely the royal shuttle. Choosing a spot near the shuttle, he brought his fighter in for a landing. Naturally, the guards surrounding the shuttle moved to face him, thinking he might be an intruder. He extricated the fighter then turned his attention to Artoo. Moments later, Artoo began twittering frantically as Luke used the Force to lift him from his socket.
“Artoo, will you relax. We’ve done this many times before. You should be used to it by now.”
Artoo gave him a sharp retort, prompting Luke to chuckle.
Once Artoo was down, he turned to face the welcoming committee from the Singing Mountain Clan. At the forefront was Clan Mother Augwynne Djo, followed by her daughter and husband, then a gathering of witches. “Greetings, Master Skywalker. Welcome back to Dathomir,” Augwynne Djo said.
Luke squeezed the elderly lady’s hands and nodded in greeting. He then turned to give Isolder a strong handshake.
“Great to see you again, Luke,” Isolder said.
“It is good to see you as well, Isolder. I hope the past two years hadn’t been too dangerous for you.”
“Thrawn concentrated his forces on the New Republic, so we didn’t face his forces. Considering how successful he was, I’m rather glad we didn’t. As for the Empire proper, there were skirmishes, and we were able to emerge victorious in most of them.”
“While I’m glad the Hapan Consortium was able to weather the past two years without much loss, I was referring to the personal front. As in your mother, and any conflicts between her and your wife.” Luke couldn’t keep a grin off his face. He could only imagine what those kinds of conflicts have been like between Corran and his father-in-law Booster, and what they might have been like between Han and Bail Organa, if the latter had lived.
Even Isolder had to laugh at that, though he also winced, recalling some of those conflicts quite vividly, as well as the conflicts between his mother and Augwynne Djo.

Hm... No responses? Maybe this'll jog some responses - Luke and Teneniel meet again, and we get to see how a journey that began in COPL concluded.
Teneniel Djo watched the exchange between Luke and her husband, though her mind was focused on Luke. Outwardly, he looked the same as he did when she first saw him cutting into the wreck of the Chu’unthor, three years ago. His presence in the Force, however, was another matter. She recalled how she sensed his presence in the Force and the amount of power he had back then. In her opinion, compared to what she was sensing now, the power he had three years ago was nothing. As much as she loved Isolder, Luke would always hold a special place in her heart. Based on what she heard of his activities over the past three years, she could now understand why Luke had been hesitant to take their mutual attraction any further.
She then saw Luke turn and approach her. Though she had a large number of royal gowns available for her, she opted to wear the same robes she wore for most of the time she and Luke were together.
“Teneniel.”
“Luke.”
She sensed Luke reach out to embrace her in the Force, and as she returned the gesture she felt her cheeks colored slightly. She then saw Luke shift his attention to her daughter.
“As you foresaw, our first child is a daughter. Tenel Ka Chume Ta’Djo.”
She saw Luke give Tenel Ka a joyous, almost boyish grin. Stroking her daughter’s cheek with his right hand, she heard Luke say in a very strange voice, “The Force is strong in this little one, hmmmm? Yes!”
“That was a strange way of greeting my daughter,” Teneniel commented.
“My nephew and niece couldn’t stop giggling when I imitated Master Yoda’s speech. I guess your daughter’s going to be a serious one, much like your people and your husband’s.”
Teneniel gave a motherly smile when Luke mentioned his nephew and niece. She then felt slightly honored that Luke would imitate one of his masters while speaking to her daughter. She couldn’t stop herself from thinking Mother Rell would have loved hearing Luke’s imitation.
She then saw Luke’s eyes widen as he recognized another witch amongst their troupe. She watched as she saw Luke take the hands of her aunt, Barukka. Barukka, the eldest daughter of her grandmother, joined her sister Gethzerion and became one of the Nightsister. However, Barukka chose to leave the Nightsisters and became a forsaken one. Her guilt over what she had done had driven Barukka slightly insane. She remembered how Luke and his family had gone to Barukka for help in infiltrating the Imperial prison, and how he had offered counsel to Barukka in an attempt to help heal her. Chief among his counsel was his advice that she learns to forgive herself. Now he was seeing the result of his counsel. She saw a tear of gratitude and happiness fall down Barukka’s cheek as she heard Luke say, “Welcome back to the light.”

Again no response? You're bored with Dathomir? Then don't worry, Luke'll be leaving Dathomir in this post. If any of you have the Geonosis and the Outer Rim Worlds sourcebook from Wizards of the Coast, you might recognize two of the names in this post.
Two hours later, Luke was once again in hyperspace, heading for Coruscant. Augwynne had wanted to hold a feast in his honor, but he politely declined, telling her he would take a light meal instead. He informed her that he wanted to get to Coruscant by the time night fell on that planet, so he could test another potential candidate and arrange to leave his fighter on Coruscant. The next morning he was going to take the same transport that was going to take Brakiss, Corran, and Kam to Yavin Four.
During the meal, Luke, Augwynne, Isolder, and Teneniel managed to recount what happened over the past three years to each other. Augwynne stated that though Dathomir was a part of the New Republic, her plans hadn’t been put into motion yet. Most of the other clans were unwilling to change their ways, even though there were benefits to changing. One of the strongest opponents was Clan Mother Mintinee of the Misty Falls clan, who was well respected by the other clans and revered by the witches of her own clan.
He was saddened when he heard Mother Rell died months after his departure. He had hoped to talk to Mother Rell while he was here and learn more about Yoda. He even fancied inviting her to the academy so as to tell the others what she knew of his former Master.
When he asked about the Nightsisters, the news he got was mixed. Because of him, and oddly enough Warlord Zsinj, many of the Nightsisters, especially the most powerful ones, were killed three years ago. A few of the younger and weaker ones had underwent a period of repentance like Barukka, and had been welcomed into various clans. Unfortunately, Augwynne was certain a few stragglers were still alive. Though the clans had searched for them for the past three years, only a few of the stragglers were found and dealt with, but there were still others out there. The one Augwynne was most concerned about was Robetheri, the war chief, or military general, of the Nightsisters.
Luke had grown concerned when he heard about the Nightsister stragglers. During his time serving the Emperor, he took advantage of the opportunity and learned the identities of as many of his Dark Jedi and other followers as possible. Most of them either were killed by him, Kam, Empatojayos Brand, and Rayf Ysanna, or were on the Eclipse or Eclipse II when they were destroyed, or were on Byss when the Eclipse II collided with the Galaxy Gun, causing the Galaxy Gun to misfire and shoot a particle disintegrator missile at the planet, triggering the planet’s destruction. But there were some that were unaccounted for: Arden Lyn, Azrakel, Jeng Droga, Sarcev Quest, the Prophets of the Dark Side Jedgar and Kadann, High Inquisitor Tremayne, and Shira Brie, or Darth Lumiya as she called herself when they last met shortly after Endor. And there was the chance that there were others out there that he didn’t know of. He remembered Mara’s vehement claim that she was the only Emperor’s Hand, but there was one thing he knew for certain about Palpatine – Palpatine would never have been content with just one “Hand”. Chances were that some of those unaccounted for were also “Hands”, but Luke didn’t know for certain. And he wasn’t about to risk Mara’s ire by suggesting the possibility to her. These known and unknown enemies were a constant presence in the back of both his mind and Kam’s. They represented the kind of threat the New Republic might be facing in the future, and he had to consider the possibility that the Jedi he would be training might encounter these threats in the future. Now he had to consider the possibility that the Nightsisters might also reappear in the future.
The tone of the conversation became more pleasant as they talked about Tenel Ka. He learned that Augwynne Djo had gone to Hapes when she learned of Tenel Ka’s birth. When he commented that in doing so, she must have also met Ta’a Chume again, everyone else shuddered at the memory. Teneniel commented that to say the meeting wasn’t exactly a pleasant one was an understatement. Both had been civil while in the presence of the infant; however, once Tenel Ka was gone, the clash of wills had begun. Luke was certain Ta’a Chume was already making plans for the toddler’s future, and that Ta’a Chume’s plans and the plans Isolder and Teneniel might have for their daughter would result in frequent clashes over the next several years. He felt pity for Isolder, obviously trapped between the two women he loved.
As the meal came to an end, Luke made his inquiry about the candidate from the Singing Mountain clan. He was pleased to hear there were several candidates. With the candidate from the Singing Mountain clan, ten of the twelve slots have now been filled. He had not heard from Kyle Katarn or Alex Winger yet, but he chose to reserve the last two slots for them until he heard otherwise.
Teneniel personally recommended Kirana Ti, saying it was the least she could do for Kirana Ti. During the battle that took place at the Singing Mountain three years ago against the Nightsisters and Imperial force, Teneniel had used the Force out of anger to kill several of the Nightsisters. Kirana Ti was with her at the time, and had made Teneniel aware of what she had done by pointing out the ruptured blood vessel on Teneniel’s cheek – a sign of her committing an evil act. After the battle, Teneniel had begun to atone for her action by transferring part of her life energy to a wounded Nightsister who was dying. Teneniel owed her fellow clan sister a debt, and recommending her for Luke’s academy was the best way to repay that debt.
He met Kirana Ti and remembered her right away – she had been one of the Dathomiri witches who had rescued Han, Leia, Chewie, and Threepio from the Imperials when they were captured shortly after arriving on Dathomir. When he nodded his approval, he had also sensed something from Kirana Ti – concern for her daughter. When she mentioned her concern, he reassured her that she could contact or go and visit her daughter at any time during the training. At that point, Teneniel and Isolder offered to take Kirana Ti to Yavin Four, but Kirana Ti declined. Luke then said he would make arrangements to transport Kirana Ti to Yavin Four when he arrived at Coruscant.
As Luke activated the hyperdrive, he smiled as he thought about his first group of student. The call had been answered, and soon the group will have been assembled, and the training will begin. But his smile quickly vanished, as he once again wondered if he were truly ready to train others.

Lovely trio of posts, JA. So sorry about my absence from the internet - I've just been too busy. Hoping the next few weeks won't be quite so bad.
I loved the way you've linked in and expanded the Hapes connection. I enjoyed that book - CoPL.
I liked the way you showed that Teneniel still has a fondness for Luke, but how she understands why he couldn't make anything of their potential relationship.
I also liked that little humorous bit with Luke's imiation of Yoda's voice and his discovery that Tenel Ka is a bit serious. Nice work there. Little details like that really make the difference to a story.
“And what of the former Queen Mother, Ta’a Chume?”
“She is back in the Fountain Palace on Hapes.”
Making certain to keep quiet, Luke mentally heaved a sigh of relief.
LOL That would have to be understatement of the century. Poor old Luke.
Terrific posts. Good question about those dark siders, too. I'd forgotten about some of them.

Thanks, Tahi. I figured I'd expand a little on that line from the YJK series - the one that stated Luke was the only one at the time who knew of Tenel Ka's royal heritage.
If you like that understatement, just wait. I got one in mind that'll really make you laugh, but it'll be quite some time before that appears.
This is another short post, but those of you who are veterans will recognize it as a prelude to a meeting of characters.
Tash once again stood before the display commemorating Nejaa Halcyon. There was something about that display that kept nagging at her. She had enough experience to know the “nagging” was the Force, but she didn’t know what it meant. She was certain it wasn’t what she called her “danger sense” – she had plenty of experience with that. She also knew it had nothing to do with the latent dark side taint from the Sith Hall. No, there was something else going on whenever she saw Nejaa Halcyon’s display.
As much as she wanted to stay there and solve this puzzle, she knew she couldn’t. She needed to get herself ready because she and Zak were going to spend a night on the town. Still facing the display, she backed up towards the entrance. As she did, she heard murmurs from behind her. Turning around to head out, she bumped into someone.
“Oh, I’m sorry about that,” Tash said as she steadied herself.
“It’s alright. I wasn’t paying much attention either,” a musical voice said.
Tash got a look at the speaker and was glad Zak chose not to come with her. She knew exactly how Zak would have reacted if he met this woman with elfish features on her face, silver hair, and mother-of-pearl eyes. As the woman went in to see the exhibit, Tash looked around and saw many people looking at the exotic-looking woman. As she made her way out of the museum, she shook her head and thought, no doubt about it – some of us are so lucky. What every woman wants, and what every man desires in a woman, she’s got.

Again no response? Well the last post was short and nothing critical really happened. But I'd thought you'd all like that meeting and Tash's thoughts on Tionne's appearance. Anyway, here's the first installment of the next section of the story. Those of you who've read the story in the old forum will note two major changes. First off, these sections will be shorter, mostly because it'll give me more time to get the pace going on those revisions. Second, say bye-bye to Tycho and hello to two other Rogues. As for why no Tycho, Wedge introduced Lando to Tycho in Specter of the Past, which takes place eight years after this fanfic, respectively. Third, I included a reference to something that happened to Hobbie in the Darklighter arc of the Empire comics, so if you don't have those comics, you might be in for a little surprise.
That evening, after enjoying an early evening meal with their uncle, Tash and Zak were out ready to enjoy the nightlife on Coruscant. They tried to get their uncle to come along, but he chose to spend a quiet night at their apartment reading text docs on some ancient civilizations. As for the two of them, they were strolling down an avenue, trying to find a place to enjoy themselves. Many who saw them thought they were a nice, young couple. Although they were wearing semi-formal attires, Tash’s yellow dress, with its heart-shaped neckline revealing her crystal pendant and a small amount of cleavage, matched her hair perfectly, causing a lot of men to turn their heads. Tash knew she wasn’t shy; she did go on dates and learned enough to “play the game”, as she called it, while at the university. However, she never pursued relationships like Zak had, so she was blushing at the attention.
Zak, on the other hand, was having mixed feelings. Part of him was the brother who wanted to protect Tash. Another part was the one who saw all the stares Tash was receiving as an opportunity to get back at her for teasing him for so long. That part knew he was going to enjoy himself tonight. Yet another part of him was hoping to spend the evening with friends as well.
“Got any ideas where we can go, Zak?”
Zak was about to say no when he caught a glimpse of a familiar figure. Was that…? “Tash, can you stay here for a moment? I think I saw someone familiar up ahead.”
“Wait, Zak. Please tell me you’re not chasing after some poor girl.”
He turned around and gave her a grin. “Trust me.” And with that he raced ahead.
Tash considered Zak’s words for a few moments. As much as she loved and trusted her brother, past experience have taught her to be cautious whenever Zak said those words. Especially when he gave a grin while saying those words. I’d better catch up with him before he gets into trouble. Again. She started to go after her wayward brother as she saw him take a left up ahead. When she got there, she started to turn left when she bumped into someone.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to…” she said as she stepped back. Her balance was unsteady, but she felt a hand touch her shoulder to help steady her.
“It’s no problem,” she heard a familiar voice say. A few moments later, the person spoke again, confirming his identity.
“Hello, what have we here?”
She immediately knew who it was and knew she had the element of surprise. She looked up and saw the source of that voice – Lando Calrissian. He was wearing the same clothes he wore when he visited Leia more than a week ago, but this time they were brand new, not ragged around the edges and showing signs of too much wear.
“Allow me to introduce myself. I’m…”
“Lando Calrissian,” Tash said with a smile. I’m going to enjoy catching him off-guard. The astonishment on Lando’s face was undeniable, and it grew as Tash enveloped Lando in a big hug.
For the first time in a long while, Lando was surprised and rendered speechless by a woman. He was floundering and didn’t know what to do. “I seem to be at a disadvantage.”
“More than you realize, Lando. It’s me, Tash Arranda. We last met on Hologram Fun World.”
With that, Lando’s memory instantly recalled the young girl he met on Hologram Fun World. He gave her his famous smile and said. “This is definitely a surprise. It’s good to see you again.” He looked her up and down and said, “Well, look at you. You’ve become quite a beautiful woman.” He then took her right hand and kissed it.
Tash began to feel a warm flush on her cheeks. I’ve forgotten how handsome he was. Now I know how he earned such a reputation with women – he’s too handsome and smooth for his own good. “Thanks,” she said.
“Are your brother and uncle here too?”
“Uncle Hoole is back in our apartments. He’s not really into the nightlife. As for Zak…” She turned around to face the direction in which Zak took off. “He was here a few moments ago, but he rushed ahead, saying he recognized someone. Not you, evidently.”
“Shall we go and see if we can find Zak?” Lando said while offering Tash his arm.
Might as well take advantage of the opportunity and accept Lando’s attention for as long as it lasts. “Yes. Let’s surprise him,” she said with a smile. And with that, she took his arm and the two went to look for Zak.
Meanwhile Wedge Antilles was hoping to have a friendly evening outing with some of his fellow Rogues Derek “Hobbie” Klivian, Wes Janson, Gavin Darklighter, and Inyri Forge, having returned from transporting the colonists on Eol Sha to Dantooine, along with the supplies and engineers to help set up the colony. However, Mirax’s recent disappearance was currently the topic of the conversation.
“Hey, Wedge. Anything new about Mirax?” Hobbie asked.
He shook his head in negation.
“What about Booster? Do you think he knows?” Gavin asked.
“If he doesn’t, he will soon. And when that happens, Cracken’s going to be getting more than an earful from him,” Wes said with slight humor.
Although they thought Wes was slightly exaggerating, they knew that it was still the truth.
“Any bets on Tavira somehow being connected to Mirax’s disappearance?” Hobbie asked.
“How’d you plot that?” Inyri asked.
“The timing. Tavira probably knows that Mirax has worked with Rogue Squadron on many occasions. And Mirax is married to Corran. Corran might not have been in the squadron when we dealt with Tavira last, but she probably has a grudge all members of Rogue Squadron – past, present, and future.”
“Part of your last point doesn’t really keep out vacuum. Other than that, can’t argue with your reasoning,” Wedge commented. “I’ve been thinking the same thing.”
“You’re not thinking about transferring to Intelligence, are you?” Inyri asked Hobbie.
“Maybe he should. That way he won’t be taking so many bacta dips, and there’ll be more bacta available for the public. Unfortunately, that would mean the bacta market would lose their premier spokesperson and most famous dipper,” Wes bantered.
Wedge, Gavin, and Inyri laughed, while Hobbie gave a pained expression. Bacta might have saved his life many times, but it didn’t save his right leg after it was injured and became infected shortly before the Battle of Yavin.
“Anyway, after I wished Corran good luck, I reminded him that the three of us had unfinished business with Tavira. I told him that if during his time at the Jedi academy he learns where Mirax is being held, he’s to contact us. Mirax’s his wife, but she’s like a sister to you, Wedge, and she’s a part of Rogue Squadron. We Rogues look out for each other,” Hobbie said.
The others smiled in agreement.
“I wonder if Corran talked to Iella?” Gavin asked.
“More accurately Iella talked to Corran,” Wedge clarified. “She told Cracken what she told him, and Cracken in turn told me about the rumors she’s been hearing.”
“Rumors?” Gavin asked.
“There are some vague reports from survivors that Tavira had armored individuals accompanying her whenever she went to ground to inspect her people’s handiwork. There was always one individual, but collating the reports Iella has managed to tag at least four distinct individuals, both male and female. And all of them had a ‘Vaderish’ air about them.”
Cold foreboding crept into Wes’ and Hobbie’s guts. “I hope that just means these people are using the armor to intimidate others,” Wes said.
“Why do I get the feeling that we’re going to be facing another Malrev Four?” Hobbie commented.
The Rogues knew that Hobbie was probably being pessimistic, or realistic as he calls it, but they acknowledged silently that Hobbie’s feelings were well founded. Though the incident occurred before they joined, Gavin and Inyri knew what Hobbie was talking about. Malrev Four was where the Starfaring crash-landed, and Rogue Squadron went there to rescue the Bothan crew, not knowing that a secret Imperial supply depot was also on the planet. They also didn’t know that the depot was located in a Sith temple on the planet. All the Rogues on that mission were affected by the Sith power contained within the temple. Not only that, they had to face the native Irrukiines that were under the influence of the Devaronian mechanic-turned-Sith magician Cartariun. If that wasn’t enough, the Bothan commander Girov Dza’tey, who sabotaged the Starfaring, killed Cartariun so he could gain access to the Sith temple and master the power contained within using his Jeswandi meditative techniques. They were successful in defeating Dza’tey, but not before two of the Rogues, the Sullustian Dllr Nep and the Bith Herian I’ngre, sacrificed themselves to destroy the Sith temple. Since then, there’s been an unspoken agreement among the Rogues – don’t go into a situation where the Force would be against them without a well thought-out plan or Luke. Preferably both.
“Speaking of Iella, how are things going between you two, Wedge?” Hobbie asked.
“We haven’t had much of a chance to get together over the past several months,” Wedge answered.
Throwing an arm on Wedge’s shoulder, Wes bantered, “Lost opportunities, Wedge.”
Beating Wedge to a response, Hobbie said, “You’re one to talk about ‘lost opportunities’. Tycho’s the only one among us who has anything close to a steady romance.”
“Hey, you two, why don’t you recalibrate your sensors before you spew any more fumes from your mouths,” Inyri said heatedly.
Hobbie and Wes winced at Inyri’s tone as they remembered whom else was with them. Inyri was involved with Zekka Thyne, a former Black Sun lieutenant whom Corran had caught and sent to Kessel, though Thyne used her more than loved her. And Gavin was involved with Asyr Sei’lar, a fellow Bothan Rogue, whom they all believed was killed in an ambush during the campaign to bring down Prince-Admiral Delak Krennel. In reality, Asyr had actually survived the ambush, but thanks to Borsk Fey’lya’s attempt to influence her life, she had been forced to leave the Rogues in secret, with the goal of attempting to reform Bothan politics. The only ones who knew the truth were Mirax and Iella.
Before any of them could speak, a voice behind them said, “Wedge? Is that you?” They all turned around to see a young man with brown hair and brown eyes. They saw his face light up with recognition and elation. “It is you!” he said as he ran towards Wedge with his arms wide open.

It's always nice to see the Rogues. Sorry I'm not much of a reviewer. Been working hard and the mind doesn't always think of things to say.

Just as long as you keep up with the story, RebelMom.
You like the Rogues, RebelMom? Well, here's more of them.
Zak intended to embrace Wedge, and he definitely got one, but not from Wedge. And it wasn’t a friendly one either. He saw a man with brown hair, blue eyes, youthful features, and a muscular build move to get behind him. The next thing Zak knew, the stranger was lifting him off the ground in a bear hug with his arms pinned to his sides. The others, a dark-haired man with a mournful face, another man who looked about his age, and a young brunette, moved to cover Wedge. He could hardly breathe, yet he managed to gasp out, “Wedge! It’s me! Zak Arranda! Gobindi…”
A crowd was starting to gather around as Wedge considered what the stranger said. Memories began to surface, but the past ten years had made him cautious. He decided to test him.
“Hey, boss. Want me to make him bounce?” Wes asked.
“Not yet. Loosen up enough for him to breathe.”
With that, Zak felt the pressure around his ribs lessen, and he drew in a deep breath.
“Alright, I remember meeting an uncle, his nephew, and his niece on Gobindi. There was something distinguishing about the uncle.”
Zak was somewhat confused as to why he was being treated like a threat. Then again, he thought, as I understand it Wedge has had a lot of close calls over the years. He realized belatedly he shouldn’t have rushed towards Wedge. “Uncle Hoole is a Shi’ido.”
Wedge knew that was correct, but he kept his face impassive. That wasn’t exactly classified information. I better ask him something that only he could know. Considering the memories, he smiled as he formed his next question. “I remember the girl was very interested in something. What was it?”
Zak thought for a few moments. He thought he knew the answer, but he didn’t know whether or not Tash talked to Wedge about that subject. Might as well take a shot, and hope I’m right. Otherwise, I’ll be crushed, unless Tash gets here soon. Tash, where are you?
“Jedi,” Zak gasped. “Tash was interested in the Jedi. And she still is.” Zak knew he gave the right answer because Wedge then said, “Let him go.” Zak collapsed to the ground on his knees coughing with his arms hugging his ribs. He then heard a familiar voice from the crowd.
“Excuse me. Please. Move aside. Zak!”
He wasn’t surprised to see Tash rushing to his side and kneeling before him. He was surprised, though, when he heard another familiar voice.
“Hey, what’s going on here?” A few moments later the voice said, “Wedge. Wes. Hobbie.”
“Lando.”
As he heard mutterings of greetings and backslappings amid the dispersing crowd, he focused his attention on his sister.
“Are you all right?” she asked.
“My ribs feel like they’ve been half-crushed by a gundark. Other than that…”
“You’ve gotten yourself into trouble again, though I didn’t expect this. When are you going to learn?” she scolded.
“Take it easy, Tash. He’s been through enough punishment tonight,” Lando said light-heartedly as he approached them.
“Nice to see you too, Lando,” Zak said as he got up. He then shook Lando’s hand. “I’d give you more than that, but I don’t think my ribs can take another squeeze-play tonight.”
“I apologize for that, but under the circumstances…” Wedge started to say.
“I know. I learned my lesson,” Zak said.
“Learning the lesson’s not your problem. It’s remembering it. And that goes for some lessons more than others.”
Zak could only wince at his sister’s comment and tone.
Tash turned her attention to Wedge and gave him a hug. “I didn’t think we’d be meeting up with you, Wedge. But then again, the same thing goes for Lando.”
“Sorry about roughing up your brother, but under the circumstances, I think it was worth it.”
Tash turned to the speaker, the one who did the squeeze play on Zak. He was looking at her intently as he said, “It allowed us to meet.” Joining him in his scrutiny was the dole-faced one. Tash flushed again, and her flush deepened when she heard Lando chuckling, and then Zak, despite the pain he felt from his ribs.
Zak thought, Ha! Let’s see how you react when you get the attention.
Wedge took stock of the situation and said, “Ease off on the thrusters, you two. I think some introductions are in order.” He faced his fellow Rogues. “As you know by now, these are Tash and Zak Arranda. From Alderaan.”
Wes’ cheery expression immediately disappeared, while Hobbie became even more doleful. Gavin and Inyri remained respectfully silent.
He then turned to the Arrandas. “Tash, Zak, may I introduce Major Wes Janson, Major Derek Klivian, also known as ‘Hobbie’, Captain Gavin Darklighter, and Captain Inyri Forge.”
Zak smiled immediately, as he now recognized the others after having spent so much time keeping track of Wedge and Rogue Squadron. Tash, being the more dignified sibling, calmly approached them and shook their hands. Noting an absence, she asked, “Where’s Tycho Celchu? You and Majors Janson and Kivian are here, and usually where the three of you go, so does Colonel Celchu.”
“He had business to attend to,” Wedge said while a round of handshaking took place. While it was true, Wedge also knew Tycho was beginning to miss Winter again, who had returned to wherever baby Anakin was.
“Now that the pleasantries are done, where were the two of you going?” Wedge asked.
“Actually, we have no place particular in mind,” Tash said.
“Well, then. Why don’t you accompany me to the Coruscani Rising Star?” Lando offered.
“A five-star restaurant. Sounds like your kind of place, Lando,” Wedge joked.
“Sorry, Lando. We already ate,” Zak said.
“Why don’t you come with us?” Wes offered.
“And where are you going?” Tash asked.
“Ask Hobbie. He’s the one who suggested going to this place,” Gavin answered.
Hobbie gave them all a big smile. “I overheard some of the mechanics back at headquarters talking about an encounter last night. A strange ship arrived – an old ship with solar sails.”
“Solar sails,” Lando commented. “Those kinds of ships are designed for in-system flight, not for traveling between systems. They had to be modified to do that. Such ships are collectors items now, and only the wealthy can afford them.”
“Well I can’t say for certain, but based on what I heard from the mechanics, she’s not wealthy. Barely had enough for the docking and maintenance fees.”
“She?” Wes and Zak asked.
Hobbie nodded with an appreciative grin. “They’re going to remember her beauty for some time – silver hair, mother-of-pearl eyes, and…”
“And…” Wes pressed, his face becoming quite animated. Tash noticed that Zak was also becoming animated. When she heard the hair and eye colors, she thought about the woman she bumped into back in the museum. No, it can’t be.
“We’re in mixed company, so I won’t go any further except to say that the mechanics thought she was an angel of Iego,” Hobbie said.
“I think you already went too far, Hobbie,” Wedge said, having noted the expressions on Wes’ and Zak’s faces. He, Gavin, and Lando were more composed, though he could see the intense curiosity in Gavin’s and Lando’s faces.
Tash turned to Inyri and gave her an exasperated sigh while shaking her head. Inyri suppressed a grin.
“Anyway, she asked where the nearest respectable cantina was. Said something about wanting to inquire about performing there. I’m leading you to that cantina to see if she’s there. Can’t see how her request for employment could have been refused.” Facing Lando, Hobbie added, “Afraid the cantina’s not as high profile as you want, Lando.”
“I’ve recently managed to earn a very large reward, much larger than I planned. I already have an idea on how to invest it, but it’ll be a while before I can follow through. I was planning to treat this young lady, and her brother,” he quickly added, “to a high-price meal.” He gave Tash another smile, eliciting another blush from the attention. “However, the prospect of meeting this ‘angel’ sounds intriguing.” He ended this with a contemplative grin.
“‘Intriguing’ isn’t the word I’d use, but I agree with you,” Wes said with a knowing smile.
“We’d better hurry. I want to get good seats,” Hobbie said.
Tash thought for a moment. Both she and Zak would get the opportunity to talk with their old friends, and get to know the other Rogues. Knowing Zak, though, Tash thought, he’s probably as interested in this singer as Lando, Major Klivian, and Major Janson are. Being true to herself, she was also curious about the singer, but for much different reasons.
“Why not. Let’s all go,” Tash answered for Zak.
With that, they set off. As they did, Tash made her way towards Inyri and whispered conspiratorially, “I bet you decided to join them so as to break up the boys’ club. Now you’re wishing you didn’t.”
Inyri laughed at Tash’s comment. “Another Rogue, Rhysati Ynr, made a similar ‘boy’s club’ comment while volunteering for the second strike at Borleias over four years ago. We’ve been busy lately, and most of the other Rogues are taking advantage of the R&R. I saw no reason not to join Wedge and the others. I just hope this cantina allows contract sabacc and double-draw fendoc.”
“Did I hear you say sabacc?” Lando asked, giving Inyri his dashing smile.
“Forget it Lando,” Wedge said. “Inyri’s not into high-stake games, and the last thing she needs is to win your latest business.” Chuckling, Wedge took the opportunity to start a conversation with Tash. “So tell me, how have you, Zak, and your uncle been?”
Tash took a moment to reply. “Mostly fine during the past several years. But trouble continued to follow us for months after we parted company.”

Definetly not a good idea to surprise a man who has had problems with assassins, etc. At least Zak survived the squishing.

Like Tash said, Zak got the lesson. It's now a matter of seeing if he remembers it. We now continue with the evening. Look carefully for one line in this installment. It can be applied to real life as well as the SW universe. You'll also get an idea to whose perspective I'll be shifting in the next installment.
The answer intrigued Wedge and Lando, and got the others interested as well. Before any of them had a chance to respond, Zak asked, “So, Lando, what did a respectable gambler like you do to get a reward?”
“That’s businessman, Zak.”
“No, he’s right Lando. Your metal mining project on Nkllon was definitely a high-risk gamble,” Wes joked. The other Rogues laughed, knowing that Lando couldn’t deny the truth of Wes’ words.
“My former mining project,” Lando corrected. With that he told the others everything that happened – losing his Nkllon mining business in a card game, coming to Coruscant to find work, and his little adventure on Umgul. Zak winced upon hearing that Lando lost a profitable business in a card game.
By the time he finished, Wedge looked at Inyri and said, “Looks like you won’t have to worry about having a business fall into your hands after all, Inyri.” Turning his attention back to Lando, Wedge added, “You know, I’d have thought that you would’ve learned by now when you have a good thing going and not to gamble it away.” Before Lando could respond to that, Wedge continued, “Anyway, it’s nice to hear that scanner’s been put to good use, even if that Tymmo character was a fraud.”
“Now how could you have know about the scanner, Wedge?” Lando asked.
“I was heading up some teams in charge of one the construction droids that are going around rebuilding the city. The night after Luke gave his speech, the droid came across a building that it couldn’t easily demolish. I really didn’t want to shut down the droid, but I didn’t want to risk losing whatever was inside. It turned out to be an interrogation center, complete with one of those interrogation droids Leia faced on the Death Star.” Everyone winced at the mentioning of those droids. “The next morning, Luke, Leia, and Admiral Ackbar came to inspect what we found, and Luke noticed the scanner. He tried it out on me, Leia, and Admiral Ackbar, then Leia tried it out on him.”
“That scanner was a lucky find, Wedge,” Gavin said.
Before he could continue, Hobbie said, “Here we are.”
They found themselves outside a respectable-looking cantina. Upon entering they could see that the place was well lit and in very good condition. The place was nearly packed, and they could see SE-4 droids taking orders while the bartenders were busy getting drinks together.
Most of the customers were seated with an air of expectation. When the Rogues and their friends entered, though, they received a lot of attention as they made their way to a table large enough for ten. Fortunately, it provided them a good view of the stage.
“Hmm, not a bad spot,” Lando commented.
“Just so long as I have a clear view,” Zak added, eliciting a sigh of exasperation from Tash.
Just as they sat down, an alien Tash didn’t recognize, presumably the owner of the cantina, walked onto stage, eliciting applause from the audience. Tash turned to face the stage as Wedge said, “Looks like we arrived in time for the next performance.”
The owner waved down the applause. “Good evening, gentles. I trust you are all well accommodated?” After hearing a few shouts of approval, he said, “Well then, without further due, I present to you our special attraction tonight – Tionne.”
As the audience applauded, Tash’s eyes widened with shock and recognition as she saw the individual in question walk onstage. Elfish facial features, silver hair, mother-of-pearl eyes – it’s the same woman I ran into back in the museum. However, what she was wearing right now wasn’t the jumpsuit-style clothing she wore at the museum, and those clothes didn’t do her beauty justice. Right now she was wearing a very elegant dress that left her upper arms and shoulders completely bare. The ankle-length dress matched her hair color, but it sparkled as she moved, making it look like she was wearing a sheath of liquid silver. Her dress was slit up to mid-thigh, allowing her to walk with ease. As she walked, the slit revealed her slender legs that rose from silver shoes, enticing many men in the audience. Her hands and lower arms were encased in delicate silver-tinged septsilk gloves. Her hairstyle was the same as it was back at the museum. Her face was even more exotic with the makeup she was wearing. She wore a mythra and diamond necklace with matching earrings, and she carried an instrument with her. As she sat down, she gave the audience a dashing smile. Tash felt more than a bit jealous of Tionne’s stellar beauty.
Once the audience calmed down, Tionne began to sing and strum her instrument. It was the song describing the very first Randoni merchants and the vaults where they hid their wealth. She immediately captivated the entire audience with her musical voice and her skill with the instrument; relieving everyone of any underlying tensions and making them feel alive in a way they never before encountered. When Tionne finished her singing, the audience immediately stood up and clapped and cheered. She smiled and gave a slight bow before leaving the stage.
As Tash sat down, she turned to look at Zak, and immediately recognized his demeanor and the “I’m in love” look on his face. Great, Tionne has Zak, his heart, and his hormones on a chain and slave collar, just like Jabba had one on Leia. And now that he settled his sights on her, “Charmer” is going to try his routine again. She closed her eyes as she ended that thought Zak’s forays with the opposite sex had become something of a minor annoyance for her and her uncle ever since Hoth. While they were at the university, these forays became more than an annoyance, and it fell upon Tash to, as she called it, “save the girl from Zak and Zak’s ego from the girl”. She adopted the moniker “Charmer” for Zak, but while she applied the term to Lando truthfully, she applied it to Zak with irony. I just hope he doesn’t meet her tonight.
Meanwhile, Lando said, “That performance, alone, made the visit to this cantina worthwhile.”
“Don’t think anyone here will disagree with you, Lando,” Zak said.
“Hobbie, you have to introduce me to those mechanics. I want to thank them for allowing me to meet that silvery angel of Iego,” Wes said enthusiastically.
Why do I get the feeling that Major Janson’s, and probably Major Klivian’s, enthusiasm for women matches my brother’s and Lando’s, Tash thought. At least Wedge and Captain Darklighter are exercising self-control.
Zak felt a flash of jealousy. It seems that I have several competitors, though I have to agree with Major Janson describing Tionne as a silvery angel of Iego.
“The night’s just beginning, but I’m already enjoying myself,” Wes said as he leaned back into his chair.
Turning to Inyri, she leaned towards her and whispered, “Somehow I don’t think you were expecting this tonight.”
In response, Inyri said, “No, but what’re you going to do? For certain pilots, certain male pilots that is, all they can think about outside the cockpit are their toys and sex.”
Tash couldn’t stop herself from bursting with laughter, and Inyri joined her. Tash knew Inyri’s statement applied as much to Zak as it did to Majors Janson and Klivian. While it could also be applied to Lando, Tash knew Lando was too refined and too much of a gentlemen to sink to Zak’s level.
“What’s so funny?” Wes asked.
“Oh, nothing. Just girl talk,” Tash said innocently.
“Somehow I think they’re poking fun at us,” Zak said. All Tash did was smile enigmatically and mischievously.
“So, Tash, Zak, why are you two here on Coruscant?” Lando asked.
Wedge’s eyes sparked with realization as the answer came to him. “I know. At least, I know why Tash is here.” He gave Tash a smile before turning to Hobbie. “Hobbie, since Corran isn’t here, we lack his deductive abilities. But since you demonstrated analytical abilities earlier tonight, I’ll let you come up with the answer.”
Hobbie gave Wedge a questioning look.
“Think about what Zak said, then think about recent events.”
Hobbie thought about it. He didn’t know where Gobindi was. He heard of the Shi’ido, but never encountered one. So both of those leads were dead end. As he considered the last one, he immediately saw what Wedge was hinting at. He turned to face Tash. “You’re planning to attend Luke’s academy, right?”
“No. We both are,” Zak said.
“Well, in that case, I think I know a drink that will be perfect for both of you,” Lando said. “Provided they serve it here. Excuse me while I go check.”
“Ah, Lando, what are you planning to order for us?” Zak asked.
Lando’s smile turned mysterious as he said, “Trust me.”
Tash gave him a disbelieving look. Now I’m getting a little worried.
“If it’s alcoholic, forget it,” Zak said. He remembered the one time he got drunk at the university. He woke up the next morning with a massive hangover and absolutely no memory of what happened the night before. He knew, though, that he must have gotten knocked around because his cheeks still stung the morning after. A much lower part of his body was also sore. That told him two things – he probably tried to “get along” with a member of the fairer sex, and the result was her using some “leverage” to tell him what she thought about his advances. He kept this incident from Tash because he was embarrassed enough at that time, and didn’t need to hear anything from her.
“That goes for me too,” Tash added.
“It’s not alcoholic, so don’t worry,” Lando said. He then threaded his way through the crowd and reached the bar. Once there, he got the attention of one of the bartenders. After asking for a wine list, he leaned forward and whispered a request.
Upon hearing the request, the bartender said, “That’s an unusual request.”
“Then you don’t have it?”
“Oh we have it. It’s just that hardly anyone orders it.”
As the bartender turned to leave, Lando got his attention again. “Can you wait until I make my decision before making them?”
“Not a problem.”
As Lando pondered over the wine list, he heard a growing murmur of appreciation from the crowd, punctuated with exultations. When he heard the words “Angel” and “Tionne”, he looked up in time to see the lady in question approach the opposite end of the bar. Stroking his moustache and goatee, he thought, this evening is just getting better and better. Putting down the list, straightening his shirt, and flourishing his cape, he went to introduce himself to her.

Sorry for the delay, I wanted to finish the scene in the cantina before I began posting again. Now it's just a matter of cutting and pasting from the old to the new. I may have to resort to posting on weekends only, but let's just wait and see.
Hmm, I'm still surprised no one made a post about the cantina scene yet. I know about your case, Grandma Tahi, but I'd have thought some of my other regulars would have posted.
Anyway, though we now continue with the cantina, we now shift to a new perspective, and I think I got that character's perspective down pat.
Tionne sat that bar, patiently waiting for the bartender to approach her. She smirked in anticipation, knowing the bartender, like the manager and every other employee in the cantina, was going to convince her to sign a contract and work here full-time. If the wages she earned last night were her standard daily income, a week’s worth would pay the berthing fees for quite a while, and she’d have enough left over for other amenities. This cantina and the one she performed at on Brentaal Four were a huge departure from the kinds of cantinas where she usually performed. All the other places paid her little in credits, but plenty in food and lodging. At Brentaal Four, she earned a rather decent salary in addition to her usual fare of room and board. It was the same here on Coruscant, except the salary was much higher.
She was tempted to take the offer of full-time employment, but she knew she couldn’t stay here for long. As she understood it, along with herself, Gantoris, and Streen, three other individuals had agreed to attend Master Skywalker’s academy. She also knew that he had left Yavin Four to find another the same time she left. So these students were either already on Yavin Four or would soon be there. She needed to get back there soon, but if she were to consider the fee for booking a flight there, she’d probably needed to stay at the cantina for two weeks before earning enough credits to pay for everything.
For the second time since meeting him, she felt a slight annoyance towards Luke. She wouldn’t be in this situation if he hadn’t insisted on her leaving the Lore Seeker on Coruscant. It’s all fine and well for him to talk about there being no time for anyone to make trips on their personal transports during their training – even he was leaving his personal X-wing behind on Coruscant. But what if something came up? How were any of them going to leave? It’s not like there’s going to be a transport in a nearby system ready to come at a moment’s notice.
As she was waiting for the bartender, she was also anticipating the inevitable. Though she hadn’t done so yet this evening, every time she performed in the past, she asked if anyone in the audience knew of any other stories concerning the Jedi, and if they were willing to tell her. Unfortunately, her requests often enticed drunken male customers to invite her back to their private chambers on their ships. However, she had been able to avoid such “traps”, as she had been able to sense when the individual was sincere, and when she needed to signal the cantinas’ bouncers. Until a few days ago, she had thought this ability was due to a mixture of common sense, street-smart, and self-preservation. Now she had to wonder if she had unconsciously been using the Force to sense the intentions of those who came to her.
She still couldn’t believe that she would be attending Master Skywalker’s academy as a student and a teacher. The giddiness she was feeling would probably last for a long time. She pushed her giddiness aside when she sensed someone approaching her. Turning to her left she saw a dark complexioned man with rakish-good looks, a moustache, and a goatee approaching her. He was wearing flashy clothes and a vermillion cape, and the smile he was now giving her was equally flashy.
“It seems my ship’s namesake is smiling on me tonight. First I get to see and hear an angel perform. Now I get to meet her in person,” he said.
Tionne considered the approaching individual with a discerning eye. Well dressed and well groomed, he’s most likely from the upper echelon of regular society at the very least – a definite departure from the usual group of individuals who came to see her perform. Then again, she is on Coruscant, the jeweled heart of the galaxy. Even the common worker was better off than most people in the galaxy. He didn’t seem to be drunk, which was a point in his favor. Before she could consider a reply, she saw the bartender approaching.
“Evening, Silver,” she heard the bartender said. She smiled at the different nickname he gave her. “Nice performance. You’re definitely giving the patrons more than they expected with your repertoire.”
She gave him a knowing smile, readying herself for his attempts to persuade her to stay. However, the bartender seemed to focus his attention on the dark-skinned gentleman next to her. He then gave him a big smile.
“Wait. I thought you looked familiar when you got my attention a few moments ago. You’re Calrissian, aren’t you?”
Her eyes widened with surprise when she heard his name. Calrissian?! Lando Calrissian?! He’s one of Master Skywalker’s closest friends. He was also at Bespin when Master Skywalker faced Darth Vader. She saw Calrissian reach over to shake the bartender’s hand as he said, “Yes. Lando Calrissian is my name.” He then turned to face her. “At your service, my lady.” He then took her right hand in his right, raised it to his lips, and gave her a gracious kiss on her hand. He then winked at her and said, “And it’s a definite pleasure to offer it to such a lovely angel.”
She felt her cheeks flush red with pleasure from the compliment. She heard of Calrissian’s attempts to charm Princess Leia Organa, but it was a totally different thing to experience his flattery first-hand. It was a definite first for her – none of the other men who approached her in the past had anything resembling his charms, but then again this was Lando Calrissian.
The bartender was trying to contain his chuckle as he said, “Don’t mean to interrupt, but do you want anything, Silver?”
She reluctantly pulled her eyes away from Lando, which surprised her greatly, to answer the bartender. “Chandrilan herb tea with Ithorian honey,” she said with a smile.
As the bartender turned away with a smile, she heard Calrissian caught his attention by saying, “Just a minute.” He then turned to her and asked with a smile, “I’d be honored if you would join me and my friends tonight between performances?” Ordinarily, she’d refuse such invitations because she hadn’t gotten a good read on the individual, and because there was no way to know how the others would behave themselves. However, Tionne thought this was one occasion where she could let her guard down a little. Based on what she knew of Calrissian, she knew he would act as the perfect gentleman and would come to her defense should any of the others attempt to take advantage of her.
“Alright. I accept.” After hearing him name a Chandrilan wine and asking the bartender to bring her tea with his wine and the two special drinks he ordered, she took his offered arm. As they threaded their way through the crowd, she heard some of the men murmur encouragements towards him and gave him nods of approval. What surprised her was she received similar looks and words from some of the women. She blushed as she realized the implications – being escorted by Lando Calrissian, a dashing, galaxy-known individual, was going to catch people’s attention.
As they made their way towards what appeared to be Calrissian’s table, she saw one of the men widen his blue eyes as he saw them approach the table and nudged the others. She saw the other occupants get up – five men and two woman.
“Everyone,” Lando said, “I take it you all know Tionne here. Tionne, may I present General Wedge Antilles, Majors Wes Janson and Derek Klivian, also known as “Hobbie”, and Captains Gavin Darklighter and Inyri Forge of Rogue Squadron, and Tash and Zak Arranda of Alderaan.”
A sense of shock coursed through her. The last thing she expected was to meet so many prominent people while on Coruscant – first Lando Calrissian, and now five members of the most famous starfighter squadron in the New Republic. If she’s right, she had also just met a relative of Biggs Darklighter. Her heart went out to him as well as the Arrandas. She went around to make her introductions. When she reached Major Janson, he said with a smile, “In addition to my status a Rogue, I’m also known for my breathtaking looks.” She stifled a giggle, recognizing the flirtation for what it was. She received plenty of similar flirtations from other patrons in the cantinas where she worked. When she greeted Gavin Darklighter, she offered her condolences on his loss, which he graciously accepted. After she greeted Zak Arranda, who was grinning uncontrollably, she felt a moment of surprise as she went to meet presumably his sister. Tionne thought she recognized the woman when she first got to the table, but she wasn’t certain. Now she was.
“Why it’s you!” Tionne exclaimed.
Everyone at the table turned to face Tash.
She heard the blonde woman before her say, “I certainly didn’t expect to see you again, definitely not so soon.” She wasn’t certain, but she thought Tash was blushing as she responded.
“Wait, wait,” Zak said. His eyes were wide with surprise and disbelief. “You mean you already met Tionne, Tash?! Where? When? Why didn’t you tell us?!”
Tionne saw Tash give her brother a look and said, “I bumped into her while I was leaving the museum this afternoon, though we didn’t make formal introductions. When I heard Major Klivian’s description, I thought he might have been referring to you.” She saw Tash turn to face her for emphasis. Facing Zak again, Tash continued, “But I didn’t know for certain until know. And don’t you mean, ‘Why didn’t I tell you?’ As for why, it’s because I knew you’d react the way you are now.”
Tionne couldn’t contain her giggle as she watched Zak blush and become contrite. She also heard similar giggles from the others. She composed herself as she continued, “I’m so sorry for your loss, Tash, Zak.” She got sincere smiles in return. After she greeted Captain Forge, Calrissian managed to pull an unoccupied chair from a nearby table for her. Once they were both seated, she heard Calrissian ask, “You’ve already ordered?”
She saw General Antilles give a nod. “Whyren’s Reserve for me, Wes, and Hobbie, lomin-ale for Gavin, and a fruit fizz for Inyri.”
Tionne sat for a moment, considering the possibilities. Searching for ancient lore and transcribing them into her ballads was a source of great joy for her. But she knew that there will soon be a new order of Jedi, and new legends would soon emerge. She intended to create ballads detailing the exploits of the new order of Jedi, and one of the first would be Master Skywalker’s story. And sitting with her were four of his close friends and another who knew him before he joined the Rebellion. Her musings were cut short when she heard a droid approach behind her. “Here you go, gentles.” She saw the droid give Calrissian his wine, then put a cup of Chandrilan herb tea and a container of Ithorian honey in front of her. She then caught a rich, sweet fragrance as the droid went to the Arrandas. She turned to see the servant droid serve them both a warm, dark brown beverage. She saw them give Lando an inquisitive look, and after seeing his nod blow on the beverage then take a sip. Their exclamations revealed their approval.
“Lando, this tastes great. What is it?” Zak asked.
“A beverage I introduced to Luke over two years ago. It’s called hot chocolate.”
She saw General Antilles raise his drink. “Now that we know the drink meets your approval, I’d like to propose a toast. To Tash and Zak Arranda, and their forthcoming success at the Jedi academy.”
As she clinked her cup with the others, she turned her thoughts towards what she just heard. So they too are going to be at Master Skywalker’s academy. She heard Zak add, “And to meeting friends. Both old and new.”
When they were finished with that toast, Tionne saw a mischievous look on Tash’s face. “Speaking of old friends,” Tash said, “I was hoping to find you before we left for Yavin Four, Lando.”
Tionne saw a look of astonishment on Zak’s face as she heard Lando respond with a smile, “Oh, really.” She chose to listen to the conversation with innocent interest.
