Obaona
I did write Wedge being born. I incorporated him into a story by using his bio information on the official SW site.
I have read just a little about him in a couple of stories and then, of course, he is in the movies but I really don't know much about him or what he is like.
Didn't keep me from really enjoying this story, though. I liked how Wedge tried to keep it brief with Mara.

RE: Practical and Pragmatic (Wedge talks to Mara. Not that he wants to, particularly. ~vignette~)
I was working on my X-Wing. Since finally taking the promotion to General, I don’t get much time to fly, and whenever I do have time – that’s what I’m doing. At least, when Iella isn’t around, which she wasn’t then, though she would be in a few hours. Iella is definitely better than flying. But I had nothing to do – besides paperwork, which I was avoiding – so there I was. My X-Wing was grounded for repairs, and I liked working on her myself. A pilot should always know his ship. It’s something I believe, and something I always tried to instill in the pilots under my command. Every edge counts.
Just a perfect description of Wedge.
I’m not ashamed to admit it: I hid behind my X-Wing, out of sight.
LOL! And that's perfectly Wedge too.
Their fights were becoming legendary – both for scale and regularity. There was a betting pool on who would kick the other’s butt first; Jade was winning.
LOL again! Something I'd never thought of, and yet I can so see it happening. A betting pool over Luke and Mara's arguments! Great touch.
I sighed. I have never pretended to understand the Jedi; Luke changed a lot when he became one, and while a lot of my old friend remains, I know there are things about him I just can’t understand anymore. Things he sees and I can’t. The thought doesn’t bother me; Luke has his burdens, and I have mine.
I really like this part, not because Wedge acknowledges that there are parts of Luke's life that he can't understand, but because it doesn't bother him or change his loyalty to or friendship with Luke. Wedge is very much like Luke in that respect, I think - very accepting and very loyal. I don't think we saw nearly enough of Luke and Wedge's friendship in the EU, but the bits we did see seemed to indicate that they were still very good friends despite the differences they'd developed, and I was glad of it.
Jade almost bit her lip. “Does he – I mean . . .” she began awkwardly. “It’s all he can talk about,” she finally said, watching me. Maybe not so pragmatic and unfeeling after all, from those words, that tone.
I had a sudden suspicion that I was getting into a . . . relationship . . . issue.
*grins* Wedge is quite clever.
“Maybe he just cares,” I offered.
Full-stop. She looked at me, lips slightly parted, eyes wide. She shut her mouth. “Why do you say that?”
Got her there, didn't he?
I’d heard the rumors: Luke and Jade bickered like a married couple. And everyone knows not to get in between a fighting married couple, married or not.
LOL again!
Definitely
a Wedge comment.
I’m a practical, pragmatic sort of person. Smart, too.
I went home to wait for Iella.
That does sound like a smart move.
Good job, dear! It's great to see something with Wedge, and I definitely like seeing him talk with Mara.

*claps* Fantastic Job! i was worried unpon seeing the title but it was well written and the characters were right on target. wedge is so humorous and mara is so stiff. putting the two together created some interesting conversation.

This was a very cute. You are right. they always did fight like a married couple and it was about anything. I think that Luke and Mara argued simply because they didn't want to agree with the other.

You wrote Wedge so well! I thought it was really funny when you had him hide behind his X-Wing...

I have to be honest. This isn't the first time I've seen Luke and Mara's friendship written from the point of view of Wedge. Even though it wasn't new to me I still enjoy this perspective. It's unique and rare, which is always interesting.

Hello, Joy.
Good to see you.
Oba - Yup - I think Jedi as a whole would be pretty hard to get used to. I've explored that idea a bit myself in one of my stories about Wedge.
I always enjoy your use of language.
And thanks for the nice comment about my poems.

Jedikma
: I didn't realize you only knew him from the movies and from a little elsewhere, is all.
I'm glad you enjoyed anyway.
Gabri
: *pleased to have gotten 'perfectly Wedge'*
Given how spectacularly and frequently I'm sure they fought, and considering Luke's friends are fighter pilots (or former ones), well, it made sense to me.
And yes, I've always liked that about Wedge. I don't know if you've read the X-Wing series, but I always got that impression about their relationship.
Wedge is clever, yep.
And smart. And wise.
Thank you!
Jez_3-14159265358979
: Thanks!
StarFighter5
: On Mara's part, at the very least - and someone pointed out to me that they're both prideful, really, Luke is just quieter about it.
Thanks!
Laura_Anu
: Gives an interesting mental image, though, eh?
Thanks!
joy_noel
: I'm not too surprised it has been, but hey, it's probably inevitable, given how many write SW
- I'm glad you liked my spin on it.
Thank you.

Which story, if I may ask? (All these things to read and no time.

Oh! This is so
cute
!
We never get to see Wedge and Mara together! Great! I love it!
Maybe that’ll make her think and leave me alone in the process. I’d heard the rumors: Luke and Jade bickered like a married couple. And everyone knows not to get in between a fighting married couple, married or not.
Very perceptive as well as preactical and pragmatic, Wedge is...
Very nice job!

Which story, if I may ask?
It's called The Mantrusian Affair - it's the third link in my sig, the Wedge/OC one.

Boy, you said it. I have a growing list of stories I want to read. Do you know anyone who can clone us?
I always enjoy your stories.
I like the way you experiment with different points of view.

Though I suppose it is.
And yes, Wedge always struck me as a smart fellow.
Thank you.

And I suppose you don't either - rats!
