	Wouldn't that just be the kicker? Resist Vader, resist Palpatine, resist even my own weaknesses and impatience, but then go to the Dark Side over Jaina's hurting my ship. Those snubby jocks sure are protective of their fighters. Never mind the irony of turning to the Sith arts over this ship, I thought, what about the irony of the hero of Yavin killing himself and an innocent - annoyingly smug, but still innocent - bystander because he blew up his own ship botching a simple repair? shakes head The perils of being Luke Skywalker I love playful Mara. This was a great characterization of the two of them. Banter is such a part of their relationship, and as lighthearted as this was, it's still a great insight into their characters. Loved it! 	Jesina_Dreis: Pilots are always protective of their ships, yes. And Luke does always face the most unique perils, doesn't he? I also love playful Mara, and I don't think that side of her is shown nearly as often as it could be. She's not bright and bouncy, no, but the sense of humor and playfulness are there. She's just a little understated about it. And compliments about characterization are always my favorites. 	I missed this? To Tenebris with dialup internet, I say! So Gabri, let me ask you, how did you manage to procure such a wonderful writing muse? I mean, every time you post a story here it is amazing. This one--oh, I laughed so many times reading it. Somehow smug Mara and peeved Luke is just slightly more entertaining than its converse. It's also fun to see Luke swear, or at least do it mentally. 	Oh, this is great, Gabri! I lurked at "Noise" - please smack me now - but I had to reply to "Sparks." I loved Luke in this story - it's fun to see when his pilot self is conflicting with his calm, stoic Jedi Master side. I think that smug Mara and peeved Luke is particularly entertaining myself, probably because we usually see it the other way around. I also enjoyed Luke swearing. No, the Duros ambassador never saw it coming, and Jaina definitely inherited the pilot/mechanic genes. She comes from Skywalker and Solo stock, after all - what chance did she have? 	Wow--I can't believe I never replied to this. I love this story, Gabi-girl. Of course, you wrote it, so it has greatness in it's blood. I love seeing Jedi!Luke reverting back into his piloting days. That was perfect, and I love the little exchange when Luke thought the naughty phrase and Mara insisted she could top it. So very Luke and Mara. And Luke's smart-aleckness...priceless. 	I... I never responded to this?! But I read this ages ago! Sorry Gabri! Unsurprisingly, I LOVE IT! Turnabout is- after all- fair play... Excellect characterizations, as usual. So wonderful to see Luke and Mara their lovely, human selves! Their relationship really blossoms when they're bantering! blissful sigh But Mara IS delightfully evil in this one, and Luke is so CUTE when he's irritated! No wonder Mara does it whenever she can! ~"No," Mara replied sweetly. From her perch on the access ladder, she leaned further into the cockpit. "Luke, what does this button do?" ~I glanced back up at her, and paused. "Mara, if you trigger the ejection seat, I swear -" The first- though definitely not the last- time I laughed out loud reading this. ~"You swear what? Are Jedi Knights supposed to be swearing in the first place?" ~"I had to let up on that part of the code," I grumbled, jumping slightly as a sudden spray of sparks erupted from the opened panel before me. Great, just great. "It was the only way you had a chance of getting in." Go Luke! AWESOME comeback! I think that's my favorite line! Of course, Mara picking up on his pilot thoughts was great too. I caught myself grinding my teeth and stopped. Concentrating, I reached for my usual center of calm and found it maddeningly elusive. Which only irritated me all the more, which only made the calm even more elusive, which only irritated me even more . . . 	I never saw this before! Followed the link on Noise after it was upped for Lurker Appreciation week. I figured why not take the opportunity to, you know, post instead of my usual lurking presence these days. Gabri, how adorable! I just love these Mara v. the Solo kids stories. Her wanting revenge reminded me of Oba's "Mara the Burninator". Such silliness really can result in some wonderful pieces.
