JediBMK: You’re right, there wasn’t really any other way for things with Luke to go. In my opinion anyway. Others might not agree. Yes, I did mention a sequel… Thanks for reading! obaona: As utterly evil as Luke had become (and realistically, non-romantically, he was probably as bad or worse than Hitler), we knew there was good in him at one point, and so ... we want that redemption. No one is perfect, and so redemption is the ultimate joy, I think. Which is why this story is so ... so ... heartwrenching! Interesting point… You’re right, Luke was very much an evil person. I made a deliberate effort not to try to excuse that aspect of his character. Really, there could have been redemption, had he been willing to seek it, but he wasn’t. So this was the only alternative. And still it seems to be the easy way out, considering all the hurt and suffering that he has inflicted on others over the years… Though I will confess, with your usage of words, I suspect a twist. Really…? How interesting. Thanks for the feedback! RebelMom: Luke could only be saved by death. At least his eyes are blue again. Yes, his eyes are back to blue again. I kind of went back and forth on that, but it seemed right in the end. The yellow was a reflection of his darkness, and that was a conscious thing, so it makes sense that they would revert to their nature colour now. Need go read something happy now. 	After all of the glorious build up the ending was completely satisfactory. It managed to answer all the important questions without wrapping them up and tying them with a bow. Luke's salvation was wonderfully subtle, reedeming him in a way that refused to ignore the evil that he'd become. And I guess I was right about not everyone dying! I'm curious what you will do with the sequel. I can't imagine Leia will trust Mara much after this, but perhaps they'll need each other. 	...words fail me. I loved the ending. Call me crazy, but I like stories that don't end happily ever after with white picket fences Although, in a way, it was a happy ending since Luke found a release from his evil, and the galaxy is freed. 	She saved him in a flare of red light. Even if I did predict this ending, it's still heartwrenching. How terrible this was for Mara, loving him, yet hating what he had become. And the part where Leia returned to the chamber and saw that his eyes were blue again -- another heartbreaker. I'm afraid the sequel, from Mara's POV, is going to be just as sad. Excellent story. Now I have to go join the masses looking for a happy L/M story. -----signature----- It was on her fifteenth day in the darkness of the Nirauan cave when Mara Jade awoke to discover a rescuer had finally arrived. 	Well, I kinda figured it out. The way Luke died I mean. The "hints" just made sense to me. I found this to be a very interesting story, that had me twisting my mind to fit into everyone's viewpoint. I have to sat that I loved how all the little pieces of the puzzle droppped into place, and that the Imperial revolt, while unexpected by me, made perfect sense. In his pain Luke ignored everything. The description of his death. Took.My.Breath.Away. This was an amazing fic. Sequel? AHHHHH!!! 	I'm in awe of you. Strangely enough, the ending is almost a happy one, considering the circumstances. We all want Luke to be redeemed because he's Luke, but he could only find true redemption and release through death. And poor Mara! Having to kill the one you love in order to save him. It's heartbreaking, but wonderful. It only really dawned on me during this passage: His lightsaber, the damned and damning thing that he abhorred. That she knew he abhorred. That Luke never really used the Force at all during this fic, apart from feeling it at the end there. I find that interesting, as it seems he almost turns his back on his own abilities, his heritage. Perhaps, deep down knowing all he is doing is swrong, he doesn't want to be answerable to the Force itself? That it would act almost like his conscience? I might have to mull over that for a while. I really loved this line: How he envied her that. How he admired and hated and loved her for it. I think it really sums up Luke, and this fic, very nicely.
