	I'M SORRY, I AM A HORRIBLE PERSON. Um. So yes, I forgot about this fic. And I kinda lost it as well. O_o But this is what I have left, and I figured that I might as well post it. I think I may pick this up again in the near future, because well ... summer. "Well, it looks like we're getting to the meaty stuff, Doctor," he said with a little smile. I frowned at him. As much as a thirty-something year-old psychiatrist could frown at a recumbent Jedi Master. "It's all important, Luke." "Yes, I know. But you know what I mean." I sighed, because, really, I did know what he meant. And we were getting to the meaty part that the Council would be very interested in hearing indeed. "We're going to start with the inkblot tests now," I began, an ill-concealed attempt to change the topic of conversation. "Pretty simple, really. I show you and inkblot and you tell me what you think it is, all right?" I turned the first card. He hesitated. I noticed. "A two-headed Wookiee," he said finally. "And this one?" "A 'fresher unit." I flipped to the next card. "A speeder." I put the cards down and glared at him. He sat mutinously on the couch, looking astoundingly close to pouting. In any other situation I would have oohed and ahhed, but this was my work, dammit, and I wasn't going to let the cute Jedi Master screw it up, no matter how nice his biceps. "Very good," I snapped irritably. "Now tell me what you really see." "What makes you think I'm not?" "I went to the best schools the galaxy had to offer, Luke. Alderaan's planetary university. And then Corellia's. I was off-planet when Alderaan was destroyed to receive an award for my psychiatric achievements. I've talked to survivors of more wars than even a Jedi could keep track of. I talked to your sister after her planet was destroyed, dammit, and if you think I can't tell an evasion when I hear one you're very mistaken indeed. Now look out the damned inkblot and tell me what you see." He sat like a pouting child. Arms crossed over his chest, face defiant. My lips thinned. "Just tell me what you see, Luke." I turned back to the first card. "A pool of blood," he said immediately. Unapologetic and a more than little rebellious. Flip. "A coffin. Surrounded by damp, black earth." Flip. "A man with no arms, wrapped in razor wire. Waiting to die." Flip. "The victim of a vivisection, chest broken open and splayed apart. The heart's been removed." He pointed to a white spot in the middle of the black. I swallowed hard and almost regretted my order for him to be 'honest'. It was hurting him and it was hurting me, and I wanted to do nothing more than run my hand through his damp hair. His blue eyes were seemingly focused intently on the card but his mind was somewhere far, far away. I turned another page. "An eye. Punctured by a knife, surrounded by tears and blood." Another. "A corpse. He didn't break under the first round of questioning. Or the second," he added, and I really didn't want to know what he was visualizing. I put the cards away. Loved how Luke pouted, though I can't really blame him, considering the things he was seeing. -----signature----- It was on her fifteenth day in the darkness of the Nirauan cave when Mara Jade awoke to discover a rescuer had finally arrived. It was not, however, any of the potential rescuers she would have expected. It was Luke. ~~And the rest is history~~
