Hey, and thanks to taking a look at this. This is a really, really short prologue to an idea that has been with me for a long old time, having to do with the generation of Jedi that will come after those we saw in The New Jedi Order Series. Anyways, this is a really short piece of writing, and to be honest I have no idea if it is going anywhere. If I get enough readers and people interested I will make it into an action-adventure, romance and angst story, depending on the reactions that is. Thanks.

STAR WARS

NEW JEDI ORDER: THE SECOND GENERATION

At times I feel the weight of the universe on my shoulders, and that is when I escape. The Force runs strong in my family, perhaps too strong. Even now, I can hear it speaking to me, of a destiny, of a sacrifice that will change not only my life but those who I care for the most. My teacher once told me that one's emotions can destroy them, and I had never truly believed in such a thing but I remained wary. In my family the Force flows strongest, in that I believe lies my destiny. My name is Jace Durron, my father was a man named Kyp, and my mother one of the hero’s of the war, Jaina Solo. I sense that the first great trial of this new generation of Jedi Knights is approaching, like the brewing of a sandstorm, I look to the Force for guidance now more then ever.

Good to know you'll expand on what you wrote, but what about Dark Alliance? I think it'd be really good for you to send out a few PM's about your return and start with the people who have you on their watched user lists.

Short, but interesting.

CHAPTER ONE

Jace Durron marveled at the vastness that was Coruscant, when he had been younger the grand cityscape seemed to have went on forever, but older now and wiser, he knew that not to be true. Yet still, he found to his surprise that he was still awestruck by the city, especially when the sunlight reflected off the massive domes and shimmered, and the way the steady flow of air-traffic moved throughout the city in perfect formation, rarely ever wavering. Coruscant had seen dark times, from the rise of the Empire to the invasion where it met its untimely destruction at the hands of the alien-invaders. But it was the concept of Coruscant that had remained, and that single idea spawned its rebirth.

At the peek of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, a young Jedi contemplates the past, the present and the future of the galaxy, and the foretelling trial of the Force. Even now, he could hear the voice of the Force, whispering in his ear, telling him of approaching danger, and of his part to play in the grand scheme of things. For someone so very young, he was quite conflicted, a wild flurry of emotions waged out of control in his heart and, to his dismay, there was no way to settle them.

"Be wary of your emotions," someone had once instructed him. "They do you credit, but always be cautious of them, in times of peril they can be the strongest of allies...As well as your most dangerous enemy. Never forget that, it will save you one day.”

Jace heaved a sad sigh, it was a hard memory to recall, so emotional and conflicting it was. Some say that time heals all wounds, but to a Jedi who shares a deeper understanding of the Force, it seems that all wounds become scars that never heal, especially when the memory is connected to an event that led to the death of his father, and the most trying experience in all his life.

No, he would not venture back into those dark times, it was too early in the morning and he too tired. Jace shook away the bad thoughts and concentrated on the Coruscant horizon in the distance. No matter how lost he was, any horizon on any planet did him good.

Suddenly, he smiled. “You seem to enjoy trying to catch me by surprise, don’t you?”

“Not exactly,” a familiar voice replied. “I just thought you would like some company out here. It is so cold, and as usually you seem not to notice. I bet you think no one ever notices you up here?”

“No,” Jace said. “Who would think to look for me up here?”

“How about your mother,” Jaina Solo offered with a motherly smile. A cold breeze passed by the two standing at the very highest peek of the Jedi Temple, her long strands of dark brown hair were caught in the wind and she hooked several behind her ear. Still slender and beautiful, with surprising confidence and a strength in the Force that could only come from someone of the Skywalker line, Jaina Solo was as clever and pretty as she was in her late teenage years during the war.

Jace turned to face her and found for the first time in months that she looked fully rested. It did him more good then she knew to know that she had gotten some much needed rest. Since the death of Kyp, both of their worlds had been turned upside down, with Jaina mourning and him being thrown into an abyss of utter sorrow and anger, among other emotions that many Jedi would try to dismiss. He had been there during his father’s death, and the moment still haunted his dreams.

“You look rested,” he mentioned.

Jaina looked up at him, and gave another smile that could only come from a mother who had watched their child grow and learn from the moment of their birth to the very second in which they both lived. Her eyes took in everything about him, the handsome features of both his nineteen years as well as the other features that reminded her so much of Kyp. Her son’s shoulder-length hair was a dark brown, like hers, and she found that his eyes had grown darker since the incident.

He looked much more mature now, wearing his black leathery-tunic over his muscular frame. Those eyes that were darker had a shade of blue that made her smile, and at his waist-belt hung the long metallic hilt of his lightsaber. In the hands of Jace Durron, it was a deadly weapon indeed.

Looking into his dark eyes, she felt cold and unwelcome.

He gave into his anger, Jaina thought sadly.

She could not judge him, for she too had been tempted by anger and hate when learning that not only that Kyp been killed, but that her son had nearly lost his life as well. Few people had been able to bring any sort of comfort to either of them ever since, but with Jace, he found some comfort and love in his friends. Ben given her a shoulder to cry on when she learned of what happened, and Jacen had done everything to try and sooth her wild emotions.

But in truth, Kyp’s death had sent a shockwave of sadness through the Durron family, and recovery seemed a long ways away. Even Jace’s younger sister seemed distraught, her only comfort came from her mother, and it pained her that her son did not find any measure of solace with her.

However, Jace still seemed lost, unsure of himself as if the death of his father gave him no one to look up to, as if he had lost his guiding star.

Jace could feel her uneasiness as she stared up into his darker blue eyes, could she feel his anger, and his hatred of himself for allowing his father to die? He had allowed fear to govern him. Instead of acting when he had been given the opportunity, he had hesitated, and that alone had killed his own father, a man he had loved since the moment they shared their first hug so many years ago. He was to blame and he wondered if his mother would agree should he ever share with her exactly what had happened?

The memory flooded back to him. In his mind’s eye he could see Kyp, could still remember the feeling as his father died and became something in the Force that eluded his senses. The anger that filled him, the hatred, it was enough to drive one into madness. He had almost lost everything was he was, and he faintly remembered giving into his hate.

Thinking of Kyp was too painful, for both of them. Looking at his mother made him feel ashamed of himself, was he so weak?

He gave one last sad look before he moved passed her and headed away.

“Where are you going?” Jaina called after him.

“I don’t know,” came his lifeless voice.

Jaina watched his back for a moment. “I’ll come with you.”

“I need to be alone,” he replied without so much as a sidelong glance. Jaina watched him storm off, and felt the cold breeze that seemed to follow his leaving. There was something taking control of him, she knew that Kyp’s death would change them forever, but she hadn’t ever dared imagine that it would unravel her own son from the inside out.

Jaina shook her head, more out of frustration and worry then anything else, and then turned to the horizon and the expanse of Coruscant that spread out for what seemed to be eternity. She missed Kyp so much, so much that every memory, whether fond or sad brought back pain. The both of them had been a hard pair to match in the beginning, but after the war it had all come together, two of the most stubborn people when it came to admitting their love for one another.

She only wished that she had told him once more.

Well that was very emotional. So Kyp's dead? Who's Jace named after, Jacen or Bror Jace?
