Fighting It
Chapter One
“I hate you Kyp!”
“The feeling’s mutual.”
Jaina Solo stood in front of Kyp Durron, fuming with barely contained rage. Kyp stood before her, projecting a calm that didn’t exist beneath the surface; he was mad too. She raised her hand, as if to hit him, but found it held firmly in place by his own.
“I wouldn’t do that if I were you, sweetheart.” He said dangerously, leaning towards her and lowering his voice.
She felt her blood boil and wrenched her hand from his grasp; this was how it always started. She and Kyp could never seem to get along; they always argued on everything, even if it was something they agreed on.
“Don’t call me that.” she growled at him, eyes flashing with rage.

Han Solo stayed very still in his hiding place behind a few stacked packing crates. He was watching Kyp Durron and his daughter fight for about the millionth time; he didn’t even remember why this particular argument had started, but he knew how it would end. He spared a glance sideways, and saw his son, Jacen, on the far side of the room, also hiding behind packing crates. They exchanged a quick, knowing smile; it was almost time.
Sitting back on his heels, Han settled into a more comfortable position to wait out the fight. He and Jacen had work to do, but first he wanted to see if his prediction of the end of this fight was correct.

Jaina and Kyp stormed out opposite sides of the room, both muttering curses to each other under their breath, neither sure of just who had won, since they were both leaving at the same time.
Once outside, Jaina paused to lean against the wall; something about Kyp just constantly got under her skin. He was so frustrating! They could never seem to get along, no matter how hard they tried; it was like there was some sort of barrier that always got in the way.
Sighing and turning back down the hall, Jaina was stopped by a hand on her shoulder; it was Jacen. She turned to see him smiling at her; she didn’t like the look in his eyes.
“Hey Jaya,” he said, maintaining the smile, “Come with me.”
She eyed him warily. “Why? What do you want?”
He feigned hurt. “Jaya, you don’t trust me? I’m your brother!”
He was acting too much like their father, she knew, but she didn’t sense anything bad from him, so she agreed. “Where are we going?”
He smiled again. “You’ll see.”
They continued on down the hall, seemingly going nowhere.

Kyp looked up as Han Solo fell into step with him, flashing a smile. “Hey Han, what’s up?”
Han smiled back, “Hey kid, you got a minute?”
“Yeah, sure. What do you need?”
“Just come with me, you’ll see.”
Kyp followed Han; though he wasn’t sure he liked the gleam in the older man’s eyes.

Both Kyp and Jaina were taken to the empty conference room by different doors, each being led by either Han or Jacen. By perfect planning, both entered at the same time and, upon seeing each other, turned to face their escort.
“Oh no, I am not going to be anywhere near that man!” Jaina said, turning to face Jacen. “Whatever you wanted me to come here for, it’ll have to wait until he leaves.”
Across the room, Han was receiving some of the same from Kyp; which only reinforced his confidence in this plan.
“Han, either she leaves or I do. I realize that she’s your daughter and all, but we cannot be in the same room together.”
Han simply exchanged a secretive smile with his son across the way; that was the signal. At once, with perfect timing, both he and Jacen turned and exited through the doors by which they had entered, keying the lock codes behind them. They did this quickly before either of their victims could react, leaving both Jaina and Kyp staring open mouthed at the closed doors.
Seeming to snap out of shock first, Jaina tried the key pad, but found the codes had been changed; getting angry, she turned and pounded on the door, knowing that her father and brother were waiting just outside the door. “I know you two think this is funny for some reason, but I don’t. Open the door, now!” She had already realized the futility of pounding on the door, but continued anyway; it helped release some of her anger and frustration.
“That’s not going to help, ya know. This is your father we’re talking about.” Kyp’s voice came from across the room.
Jaina growled. “Don’t you think I already know that? Until you can come up with a better idea, why don’t you just shut up?”
Kyp smiled annoyingly. “Already working on it, Goddess. I’m rewiring the keypads right now to override their changes. I’ll have these doors open in no time.”

Han leaned easily against the wall next to the door and listened with a smile as Jaina continued to pound on the door. He knew they would try to override the codes on the keypad, but he had already taken care of that.
Jacen came up to lean on the wall opposite the door with a smile. “Finished.” He said, closing down his lightsaber and grinning widely. He had fried the outer keypads on both doors with his blade; Kyp and Jaina wouldn’t be getting out any time soon. “You think they’ll figure it out?” Jacen asked.
Han shrugged. “If they don’t, at least this’ll have been entertaining.”
Jacen laughed and nodded; this should be very, very interesting.

I posted a reply to this on the other thread you had... I'm aching for an update! This is sooo good! I can't wait to see how or if the two of them get out of the room and how they are going to do it. I'm also waiting to see how they come to realize that they actually don't have each other but are in fact very drawn to each other... Update soon, please!!!!!!

Yep, me too.
Uh, it is too soon to ask for more because I'm not at home right now so I can't get the files from my computer. Sorry. I dohave the next few chapters ready, though, so maybe I can put those up next week. I can only post once or twice a week, whenever I'm at the office, cause my computer at home isn't working right now. Sorry.

Chapter Two
She heard a muttered curse from where Kyp was by the door; the keypad wasn’t cooperating, and he couldn’t get in to override the codes. She smirked. “Oh yeah, great plan; like it’d be that simple. This is my father we’re talking about, remember?” she quoted his earlier words back to him, causing a few more choice words.
“What are you so happy for? You’re stuck in here too.”
She smiled mock-sweetly at him. “Yeah, but it’s all worth it to see the great Jedi Master Kyp Durron fail at something. It’s unheard of, you know.”
Kyp growled something under his breath. “Don’t give me that crap, Goddess; you know that everyone in this galaxy hates me.”
She scowled at him. “No, not everyone hates you….in fact, I hear you’re quite the hero to rancor children.” Kyp threw a hydrospanner at her, which, after she dodged it, caused her to dissolve into laughter.
“Not funny.” He muttered, scowling back.

More than two hours had passed since Han and Jacen had locked the two Jedi in the room together, and father and son were sitting on the floor now, both wearing amused grins. Jaina and Kyp had been arguing, yelling, and insulting each other for most of those two hours, and Han and Jacen had been able to hear every word, not to mention the small recording devices they had planted, which had a live feed to the portable screen in front of them. Not only could they hear all that the two Jedi did, but they could watch it too. Jacen had to admit, even though he had had misgivings about this at first, it was entertaining. The two of them were sitting on the floor, both laughing, when Mara came by.
“What are you two up to now?” she asked, raising an eyebrow curiously. “And don’t say ‘nothing’ because I know you too well to believe it.”
Han nodded. “I wouldn’t dream of it.” He jerked his thumb over his shoulder, indicating the room behind him. “We locked Jaina and Kyp in there and won’t let them out again. They’ve been fighting and exchanging insults for the last two hours.” He was grinning stupidly, something Jacen didn’t often see his father do.
Mara gave a sort of half smile. “Poor Jaina; she must have done something evil in a past life to have gotten you for a father.”
Han snorted. “As if she hasn’t done enough in this one.”
Mara laughed and left the two of them alone again, shaking her head and muttering something about Solo’s and their twisted imaginations.
When she was gone from earshot, Han leaned towards his son and whispered, “You think she’ll tell your mom?” Jacen shook his head no. “What about your uncle? He’s always there to wreck my fun.” Jacen smiled and shook his head again; they could trust Mara.
“Kyp Durron, give that back!” Jaina’s voice rang loud through the walls.
“Give my lightsaber back and I’ll give you this back.” Kyp’s voice returned.
Han and Jacen exchanged glances. “Time to turn the screen back on.” Han said, smiling at his son.

Jaina hefted Kyp’s lightsaber and pretended to examine it, trying not to let her gaze shift to him, standing there across the room holding something of hers. “Kyp,” she said, “just give it back.”
His gaze flicked up from the object he was holding to meet hers. “Not until I get my lightsaber back. You have your own, why do you need mine?”
She shrugged, “Oh, I don’t know…I was thinking of starting a collection. I’m not giving it back until I get my necklace back.” She wasn’t usually one for jewelry, but Anakin had given her that necklace just months before he died and it was the one thing she always wore, no matter what. No one but Jacen knew that she wore it, and she wondered how Kyp had known.
Holding it up in front of himself, examining it as she had his lightsaber, Kyp looked at the necklace. It was small, and would hang just at the base of her neck; it was made of small, thin white shells, with a small black bead separating every group of six shells. At the center of the necklace hung thirteen small bars of smoothed, silver-black stone, each separated by a small white shell and varying in size. It was a beautiful necklace, and he knew it meant a lot to her.
“Fine,” he said at last, careful not to break the necklace as he set it down on the table nearest him, “You set my lightsaber down there, on that table, and come get this while I get that. Sound good?” She nodded as she set the weapon on the table, never taking her eyes off the piece of jewelry across the room.
Both crossing the room at the same time, each picked up their possession and turned to face the other. Jaina noted that the whole time they had been in here, they had stayed at opposite sides of the room from each other. Of course, this was probably because they couldn’t stand each other, but it still seemed a little odd to her. Looking around her, she saw that there were no windows, no openings they could crawl through, and no other doors than the ones they had already tried; escape was hopeless.
“What I want to know is, why did they lock us in here in the first place?” Kyp voice shook her out of her surveillance. “I mean, it’s not like they’re accomplishing anything, and they didn’t tell us what we’re supposed to do.”
Jaina looked back at him. “Knowing my dad, he was probably just bored and we’re his entertainment. But I doubt Jacen would help if that’s all it is; they want something, I’m just not sure what.”
Kyp nodded, letting his mind drift and wrap itself around all the possibilities.
