	Absolutely fantastic scene, Inara. I need a smoke... You've made the scenario and the characters so real, that I'm willing to to see Jag send Jaina packing if she has anything unsavory on her mind. You snooze your lose. Shawnkyr just discovered the only thing better than sliced bread. I used to date girls from the local Catholic school where I grew up...and .... (nevermind) Anyway, I smell some serious jealousy considerations coming up in future posts. Looking forward to what develops...and what doesn't, for that matter. 	Oh my... This was just fantastic! I loved to see what Shawnkyr was thinking, and how she reacted to Jag. When you think about it, she's so much more of a better girlfriend for Jag. Jaina only takes from him, but never gives anything back except her own problems, Shawnkyr, on the other hand, is ready to sacrifice a lot for him. I think Jag will realize this soon. It was really cute to see how this experience has changed her. It is fascinating to see a normally so self-controlled Chiss have such a totally different experience... Nice cliffie with Jaina, though - but I think Jag has already gone too far with Shawnkyr to go back to Jaina. When she only starts demanding things from him again, or only shows indecision about their relationship, I think he will realize what he has with Shawnkyr, cultural problems or not. -----signature----- We're professionals. 	Shawnkyr might not want her first experience in these matters with him, but Jag could not bear the thought that it would be with anyone else. If Jag was a Jedi, he would definitely be way down the path to the Dark Side. It concerns me, how possessive he is of her, but I almost find it endearing. But what made it excruciating was the fact that whatever he felt for Shawnkyr, he did not love Jaina less. It was not either-or but both-and. Hmm… interesting. I find it hard to believe that he doesn’t love Jaina less, but of course, we’ll see how this shakes out once he rendezvous with her, because we all know it’s inevitable… she has Zekk, he has Shawnie…it’s almost the same When her door chime beeped, Shawnkyr had nearly jumped in fright. Gosh. Poor Shawnkyr, it seems like she pretty much knows what she’s getting into, but even then… To her surprise, it did not feel unpleasant but instead, it raised prickles of pleasurable sensations that made her pulse quicken. Mmm. I bet it did. She had always deemed it inordinately pleasing. Now she found it enticing as well. Yesss..in your heart you love him too…you just don’t realize it yet! It came to her then that she was not baring herself before a friend but a lover. A human lover. That was reason enough to make her distinctly uncomfortable. Hmm… repercussions, repercussions… But there would be pain for Jag, and that would cause her pain. Seriously, what a good friend. Shawnkyr’s sense of duty and loyalty to Jag is majorly impressive, but I can’t say I expected anything less from her. What will Cem say? She forced her mind to go blank. Her reactions make me feel sorry for her, and sorry for Jag, and it almost seems like voluntary rape of sorts… Shawnkyr felt her breath coming in short spurts, and try as she might, she could not stay her alarm, and it took all the discipline she could muster not to recoil from her imminent submission. She closed her eyes and tried to calm herself, tried to think past her fear. Her grip upon Jag's arms tightened even though she strove not to resist actively. Major sympathies for Shawnie. Her eyes opened, and she stared at the man above her. In her fear, she had forgotten that this was Jag, a man who cared for her deeply. He would do nothing that would hurt her. She peered at the countenance above her and centered all her thoughts and feelings on its handsomeness. Her fears started to diminish, her resistance faded. Oh, good. sigh of relief I was afraid it wouldn’t be welcome and that she would regret it bunches but now… She could not deny the fact that Jag was awakening something deep within her, and even now he was making her feel sensations and emotions that she had once considered next to impossible. Could this be lo-ove, could this be love? I fall like a sparrow and fly like a dove…you must be the dream I’ve been dreaming of! Oh what a feeling, it must be love! (this musical moment has been brought to you by none other than me.) Shawnkyr shook her head. “Not at all,” she whispered. “I...I did not know such pleasure existed,” she said, flushing at her admission. “What you just did is...is amazing.” Heh heh heh…. I should not have left his side while he was still asleep. Not this first time. He thinks me distant and full of regret. At least Shawnie recognizes that since they’ve slept together once, it’ll probably become recurring. Or so we all hope. I have to admit, I’m not really liking the idea of Jaina and Jag so much… or Kyr and Athan! Without warning, Shawnkyr grasped him by his shirt, pulled him close, and kissed him full on the mouth. Jag gasped at the unexpected gesture. Way to go, Shawnie! We’ll make a passionate human out of you yet! “Have you so little faith in me, Tako?” Shawnkyr gently chided. Color stained Jag’s cheeks again as she said, “Everything you have taught me, I cherish, my friend. Even this.”Aww, okay, warm fuzzies. Kinda cute, fairly obscure/awkward, totally Kyr and Jag. “It is because I am not in my quarters, Carnen,” he said pointedly. !!! “Communications has decoded part of the message already sir. It is addressed to you, from a Knight Jaina Solo. She wishes to arrange a meeting.” Of course. Are we moving back to angst-land? Of course, it's you. Seriously, what a profound and emotional post. You did a great job covering Shawnkyr's range of emotions, especially since she's just not accustomed to releasing emotions. I am amazed Jag actually took her up on her offer, but I guess I shouldn't be. Amazing, Inara. Simply stunning. I look forward to seeing how this will not only impact their relationship but the other relationships in their lives. I doubt Kyr will be able to hide this from Athan, in which case I'll feel kinda sad for him. I wonder if he would understand it? Probably not. And I wonder what Cem will end up saying. I'm sure he'll notice the change - I'm sure everyone will notice the change in Jag, although perhaps they will all attribute it to a rendezvous with Jaina? Bravo! Encore? P.S. Sorry for never giving an indepth review to the last post. I am perfectly fine with a well done alien/human relationship, as you've surpassed well done. 	TheCrazyRodian First off let me say...I like your style! I have felt from the first paragraphs I read of Inara's work, that careful analysis and feedback where the best way to show my appreciation of her efforts. I'm thrilled to see that others are taking the time (a precious commodity for all of us, I know) to really internalize what she is giving us and respond in length. I joke about my long ass posts being torture for my fellow readers, and that may or may not be true, but I for one love to see what the rest of you have gleaned from the story. I often come away from reading others respondses with new insight into the characters or a missed nuance in the dialogue...or in the case of A Higher Purpose, whole sections of plot (what can I say?...I tend to get so engrossed in what Dark Horny Jacen is doing that I find it hard to focus on anything other than his hard lean body, muscles rippling as he expertly works his lightsaber......uhhhh sorry). I was at a function last night for my daughters school, the topic being "how to create a life long reader in your child" and one of the specialists said that we read to know that we are not alone. That got me thinking about our shared hobby here and I think that the greatest potential of these boards is to be able to discuss a good story with other people and open ourselves up to different POV. OK, now...the reason I started this post and addressed it to Rody is becuase this line made me Scream with Laughter: Am I the only one who thinks it's funny that Inara just "yadda yadda yadda"d sex? Once I calmed down...I had to respond by saying...when you put it that way...yes but, I think it is very important that she 'yadda yadda yadda'd' the sex scene. My impression is that the relationship between J&S is very deep and growing more so. The actual physical act may be what they were engaging in...and what Jag has been fixated on...but the real issue is not them having sex, but that Shawnie would offer herself to him, that he would accept, that they are unaware that this has just made things so much more complicated than they pretended it would, and that after the fact, they curled up on the couch together an act as intimate as the previous if for nothing else than the fact that it came so naturally neither of them gave it a second thought. I think I might have said this much more eloquently in an IM last night and I do plan to dig that out and include my musings in my blow by blow post of this chapter...because I'm certain I said something really profound that will enhance all of your lives for having been exposed to it. For now though, I just wanted to tell you Rody, that you cracked me up. I think it's important, too! It's just that I got a care package from my mommy a week ago that had, among other things such as delicious American candy, DVDs of Seinfeld, 4th season. Watching that flips a switch in my brain that makes me incessantly quote or make references to said show, to the amusement or annoyance of anyone who can hear me. Besides, I'm not really a fan of the PM post thing anyway. Like one author said (I don't really remember who it was), there are some things we just don't need to see. And like I said to Inara, this is a really passionate and emotional scene, even with the yadda yadda yadda-ing of the sex itself. I have to say, though, that the "kiss her full on the mouth" thing is making me a little homesick. And my dog just died, too! But I only have a month and a half more to go.
