An awesome cliffhanger!!!!!!
A disturbingly logical thought passed through her mind unbidden- if Jacen died today, she wouldn't have to fight him in the future, he wouldn't become a monster, and maybe that was why she had been sent here. To murder her brother while he was still innocent might be a mercy. To save him from what he would become, to save her family from him. To save his very soul.
What an aweful decision Zekaya must make, and this makes sense too!!!! So your cliff hanger becomes even more relevant.

Shivers up the spine. I can't wait to see what she does.
Luke shook his head. "For a second, I almost thought it was Jaina."
I wonder if Luke almost has the pieces put together? It'll be a world of crazy if she decides to kill Jacen and they catch her.
Of course I don't think she'd do that. (Not that that's a taunt for you to do it- even growing up to be a Sith, I'd be sad. And even if she doesn't realize it, so would she.)
It would be a good thing for her timeline in general if the kids never go to the Shadow academy, so stopping Qorl's a good idea. While she's changing the past, Tenel Ka would like to keep her arm: Fact.
Wonderful as always. This is such a cool story. Please update soon

It feeling almost like Jaina: maybe Luke didn't catch the significance, but perhaps Mara did?
Horrific dilemma Zekaya's in as far as what to do--knowing the future and wanting to prevent all the pain and heartache but then there's always the ripple effect; you'd think if she offed Jacen now, every awful thing would be prevented, but perhaps something just as bad or worse would occur--like the deaths of all her family. 
Great chapter and terrific cliffie!!!

iamobiwan1970 Thanks! Yup, poor girl's life is filled with lots of tough choices. (And I don't mean between Jag, Zekk and Kyp) Yup. If I was really lazy, I could just quickly kill Jacen and end the story there. So you gotta ask yourself.... how lazy am I?  Would it better to kill off Jacen before he stops being himself? Would it honor him better to stop him from betraying himself and everyone around him? 
PadawanLost:  I can't wait to see what she does too. :P
World of Crazy is DN-> only the less fun kind of crazy. Jaina might kill her...self in revenge.
Luke is wondering exactly how crazy the Force is, and is certainly pondering 'is that possible?' Esp. since her interrogation when he kept thinking 'Leia' and 'Han' in her actions. 'Am I seeing things?'
Of course I don't think she'd do that. (Not that that's a taunt for you to do it- even growing up to be a Sith, I'd be sad. And even if she doesn't realize it, so would she.)  Taunting the author is bad... :P Yeah Jaina/Zekaya would be sad, but Zekaya is fairly suicidal at this point and it's not unthinkable that she would kill him, and then herself.

I just finished reading this. I think I had Jaina figured out fairly quick but the others where harder because I have not read any of the NJO. This story is very interesting and I enjoyed it. I like time travel because of all the twist and turns they can take if done correctly. Any little thing can effect the future for good or ill.
I also had a thought on why Jaina becomes a joiner, does it have anything to do with Jacen cutting off their twin connection? I wonder if being a joiner filled that hole somehow?

Araxie: 0-0! Wow! Reading all 8 chapters and probably 50 odd pages in one sitting! Mad Props to you! I'm glad I wasn't being too obscure with her. I love time travel too, for much the same reasons. I hope I'm doing it correctly. Yeah, any little thing, like deciding to put in a hyperdrive or not. :P
I also had a thought on why Jaina becomes a joiner, does it have anything to do with Jacen cutting off their twin connection? I wonder if being a joiner filled that hole somehow?
In my mind that's what happened. She isn't used to being alone in her mind, and well, the Killiks will become a little more clear in the post today. ::kicks Post NJO-Jacen in Allana-making parts.::: I think she hoped it would fill the hole, and Zekk wanted to fill the hole, but of course they didn't.

Chapter 9
Jacen wheezed, forcing air back into oxygen-starved lungs. It was the only sound that followed her order.
Qorl moved his blaster between his problems. "Stay away," He warned desperately.
Zekaya approached without so much as blinking an eye at the blaster that was pointed at her periodically.
"I am Zekaya, Emperor's Hand, and you will obey me," Zekaya ordered powerfully.
Qorl seemed startled, and searched for any excuse in her demeanor or appearance to claim that it wasn't true.
"Emper-" Jaina almost believed her. But the Empire was dead. Was she delusional or-
"Your blaster," Zekaya barked. "I will deal with them."
Jacen groaned, as if this could get any worse, now people were arguing over who got to kill him. He knew his jokes hadn't been good, but wasn't it overreacting to kill him for it? He didn't know if he should hope she got the blaster or not, as his eyes swam.
Qorl hesitated, but Zekaya's presence was so commanding that he couldn't break from the idea that disobedience was betrayal.
Zekaya took the blaster, and made a quick adjustment. Staring intently at the 'rebels', she fired.
The young Jedi flinched together on the large branch, looking to see who was dead. Jaina's quick analysis didn't add up, until she heard the human Qorl flop to the ground like a fish. Without even looking at him, she'd shot him.
Jaina gasped. "You shot him!"
Lowie let free a startled roar.
"Stunned." Zekaya corrected, sparing the jedi trainees the briefest of glances before checking Qorl. Zekaya turned her back on them to search Qorl for ropes to tie him up with.
"The best way to overcome Imperial conditioning—is not to. I fit into it; he obeyed me."
Still Lowbacca and Jaina were uncertain whether Zekaya was enemy or ally. Lowbacca watched Zekaya while Jaina wasted no time to rush to Jacen's side.
"Are you ok?" Jaina propped his head up, at the same time knowing it was a dumb question.
"Hurts." Jacen gasped, wrapping his arm around his midsection. "You?"
"I'm fine. Don't scare me like that!" Jaina pried his arms away to get a better look at what was wrong. He was pale and his tunic tented where it shouldn't, and an alarming amount of blood was spilling out. She wished she knew more about Jedi healing or what to do. She tried pressing on the spot where the blood was coming out, but from Jacen's cries it wasn't helping. He jerked away from her, eyes closed in agony, and scowling.
"Sorry! I don't know what to do," Jaina apologized, sniffling. Everyone always said you put pressure on bleeding wounds.
Zekaya returned, despite Lowie’s wary looks that seemed to say 'Mess with my friends and I'll pull your arms out.'
"He broke a few ribs."
"How would you know?" Jaina frowned, still a bit suspicious of her benefactor.
"The rib sticking out where it shouldn't is a dead giveaway, and then there is the problems breathing; he may have punctured a lung." Zekaya said clinically.
"What do we do?" Jaina bit her lip. She wasn't going to turn down help just because she made her feel uneasy.
Jacen forced himself to look up as Zekaya approached.
"Sorry, this will probably hurt." Zekaya brushed the purple part of his ribs carefully, but even her barest touch caused him to suck in air between his teeth and close his eyes in agony.
Zekaya winced. "Depends. Do you trust me?"
"What kind of question is that?"
Zekaya turned to the hovering Wookie, taking her silence as a denial. "What happened?"
Lowie pointed upwards with one claw at their ship and grunted.
"Sabotage?" Zekaya tilted her head at Qorl, then turned back to Lowbacca. "I need you to get the medi-kit from your ship."
Lowbacca turned to Jaina for confirmation, while reminding himself that Zekaya had helped them, before launching himself into the branches above him.
"If he keeps at this he's going to only do himself more damage." Zekaya's brown eyes held some of the worry Jaina knew was in hers. "I can put him into a healing trance, until we can get him back to the temple. At the very least it will slow his breathing and he won't damage his lungs-"
Jaina's eyes watered. What else could she do?
"Do it." Jacen gasped, sweating from the pain. Jaina nodded.
Wasting no time, Zekaya placed her hand on Jacen's forehead and concentrated.

He felt Jaina's hand on his forehead and the world became fuzzier, until he saw two Jainas. Something must have hit his head hard.
Teal and Red blurs solidified into a harried looking queen with a teal lightsaber, and only one arm.
"I won't let you have her, I won’t let you make this the Sith Empire." He recognized Tenel Ka's voice, but he'd never heard her so threatening. He held his hands up defensively.
I loved you. Where are you Jacen?
"Then you will die." He was horrified to recognize his own face, his own voice, and the dark lighting shooting out of his fingers.
He had to be dreaming. He was dreaming.
"Jacen!"
He turned around to find the world so cold- frozen like Hoth, filled with blue bodies-aliens, and wreakage.He was amazed that anything could burn in this cold. The smell of death made him cover his face to keep from becoming sick, sicker than he already was.
Who was calling for him now?
Jaina was crumpled, cradling a dead man in her arms, and sobbing. The man's face was scarred and his body burned.
What's wrong? What happened here? He tried to speak but it was as if he was a ghost. But she looked up anyway.
"Why'd you betray me?" Jaina cried, her face scrunched up in pain. Her thoughts assaulted him, as Tenel Ka's had, the accusation something he couldn't comprehend. I loved you! Where's my twin?
I didn't. But even as the words were out of his mouth, images of stabbing the human in her arms,torturing him to death, and enjoying it flashed through his mind. He felt trapped by a darkness he couldn't escape. This isn't me!
"To break you." He said casually pulling at her hair. To Shatter you, or you will cease to be useful soon. The thoughts of a monster. He felt himself violating her mind, toying with her memories, every happy one twisted, every desire corrupted, every bond broken. "Why won't you break!" Dark frustration laced his mind as he laid out the force-suggestion into her mind. "Back to the Killiks, until you're ready to serve in my galaxy. Mine."
Sacred trust broken, what was left of Jaina died in her eyes. Hope was gone.
Alone, always Alone.
You're not Me! I could never--- NO! He clawed, as the shadow overtook him.
And Jacen screamed into the darkness.

This was all her fault. If she hadn't been here, changing the past, Qorl wouldn't have been so desperate to attack her younger self.
Her younger self frowned. "Listen- thanks for helping us, we might have been killed if it wasn't for you."
Zekaya laughed mirthlessly. "Let's see if you thank me for it later."
Jaina's shoulders tightened with concern for her brother. Shouldn't she be doing something to help?
Zekaya found it disturbing to have such untainted thoughts flow into the desolate wasteland of her mind.
A shadow fell over them as the Jade Shadow hovered above them.

Wow that was some chapter! Jacen seeing a bit of the future through her memories. What more can I say but this story is so intreging. I absolutely love it.

Oh good I can be first to quote this line:

A great bit of comic relief! I just read Darkest Knight today and yuck! Jacen was such a whimpy little character! UGH! He needed to change.
I loved his vision thing...that's so Jacen. Could this possible change the future? Hmmm.
Happy to see more of this intriguing and original story.

Wow, Jacen got more than he expected from that trance. I loved the two Jaina's comment.
I wonder when he's going to figure it out? I'm betting he does before Jaina figures it out herself.
The images of the future were frightening. Jacen really did a lot of horrible things. I'm glad he got to see them, even thinking it was a dream.
I just hope that her putting the thoughts into his head doesn't actually start the problem- time travel is so tricky like that.
