Notes:
This is a continuation of the storyline from Revolution, The Eighth Cortex, and The Living Force . As well as the "teaser epic" Empire of the Hand. You don't need to have read them to understand this story, just know that they replace "The Final Prophecy" and "The Unifying Force" in the NJO storyline, giving the series a different ending.
This story takes place three years after The Living Force , approximately 32 ABY, known as the beginning of the "Raithian Wars." A period that has long been ignored. It tells the story of the rise of the Raithians, and the Jedi from the Skywalker bloodline who became "Darth Hâvok."
This is the first of a four story series called Legacy of the Sith.

Prologue: The Day the End Began
In the ethereal glow of the space around the planet Denon, a great nebula shaped like an hourglass can be seen against the endless backdrop of darkness and shining beacons that give life, while maddening swirls of orange and red hues embrace the stars coalesced inside.
At the waist of the nebula, in a haze of green gases, lies an eye. One thick white oval encasing the most startling blue. It is human in appearance with a small black pupil, like a woman staring frozen at a brilliant light, her shock evident in the tiny white star in the edge of the iris.
It is the Eye of the Galaxy.
Situated in the Inner Rim, its gaze stretches to corners of the galaxy not imagined by the thousands of sentient creatures inhabiting its vastness. If the Eye could see, this is what it would watch on the day the end began.
It would focus on a single ship that appeared out of nowhere, as if the galaxy itself had simply willed it to be born.
The ship is alien.
It has never been inside the borders of the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances before.
The government's highest-ranking intelligence officials have never seen anything like it, though others have been there and gone unnoticed.
Black hulled with a long sharp nose, of which a considerable bulk is hooked beneath, the two eye-like viewports of its cockpit are atop it closer to its ion drives than its tip, two stubby wings on either side— the ship is stealth. It is seen only because it wishes to be seen— by the Eye and all.
Intricate circuitry is fused into the thick hull plating, so complex, the galaxy's brightest technicians and scientific minds could study it for half a decade and not grasp it entirely. Even when it exposes itself, on a direct course for the glowing industrialized planet nearby, Denon's sensors have difficulty picking it up at all.
Inside the alien craft is a lone passenger.
Her name is Callista.
What she carries with her is nothing short of the end of the Galaxy.
The end of the Galactic Alliance.
Echoing threat alarms and warnings bring a swarm of security ships from the planet's surface when the vessel is spotted. Inside one of these white-plated security ships, encased in a transparisteel canopy trimmed in the same burgundy as its wings, is another woman.
Her name is Mara.
Mara Jade Skywalker is as happy as she's ever been. Three years after the end of the Yuuzhan Vong conflict, she is healthy and married to a man who adores her, raising their five-year-old son, Ben, together in the relative peace of the galaxy's temporary capital. She is thinking only about how she would rather be flying the Jade Shadow or her new starfighter instead of the slower snubfighter issued to the planet's security force.
She has no idea that her life is about to be ruined.
As a special agent working for the GFI, Mara's experience and status as a Jedi Master leave her at the head of the pack. The alien craft has not responded to the numerous panicked hails from the communications stations on Denon's surface. It does not have a HoloNet transceiver, nor has it ever had a use for one until now.
Before Mara sends a short range burst transmission from her fighter warning its pilot that it will be shot down if it continues towards the planet without responding and identifying itself, she reaches out with the Force, the great life-energy that surrounds, fills, and binds the universe together.
She reaches for the ship.
That's when she realizes.
Inside the Watchkeeper Nebula, the Eye of the Galaxy watches all.

I'd always wondered where Callista'd got to after The Living Force. Typical that she would be the end of the galaxy.

Poor dear. For a moment though, I was wondering why she was happy. Then I realized I was mixing this up with I, Jaina.

I’ve read these two quotes over and over, trying to figure out how they relate to the story, of course I’m not getting anything yet. But it adds to the mystery so it’s cool.

In the ethereal glow of the space around the planet Denon, a great nebula shaped like an hourglass can be seen against the endless backdrop of darkness and shining beacons that give life, while maddening swirls of orange and red hues embrace the stars coalesced inside.
At the waist of the nebula, in a haze of green gases, lies an eye. One thick white oval encasing the most startling blue. It is human in appearance with a small black pupil, like a woman staring frozen at a brilliant light, her shock evident in the tiny white star in the edge of the iris.
It is the Eye of the Galaxy.
The picture of the Hourglass Nebula with the “eye” at its center is so chillingly perfect for this fic. I get goosebumps everytime I look at it.  Beautifully written and sets the mood for the mystery and the adventure to come.
Inside the Watchkeeper Nebula, the Eye of the Galaxy watches all.

Situated in the Inner Rim, its gaze stretches to corners of the galaxy not imagined by the thousands of sentient creatures inhabiting its vastness. If the Eye could see, this is what it would watch on the day the end began.
It would focus on a single ship that appeared out of nowhere, as if the galaxy itself had simply willed it to be born.
The ship is alien.

It has never been inside the borders of the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances before.
The government's highest-ranking intelligence officials have never seen anything like it, though others have been there and gone unnoticed.
Black hulled with a long sharp nose, of which a considerable bulk is hooked beneath, the two eye-like viewports of its cockpit are atop it closer to its ion drives than its tip, two stubby wings on either side— the ship is stealth. It is seen only because it wishes to be see— by the Eye and all.

Intricate circuitry is fused into the thick hull plating, so complex, the galaxy's brightest technicians and scientific minds could study it for half a decade and not grasp it entirely. Even when it exposes itself, on a direct course for the glowing industrialized planet nearby, Denon's sensors have difficulty picking it up at all.
Inside the alien craft is a lone passenger.
Her name is Callista.

What she carries with her is nothing short of the end of the Galaxy.
The end of the Galactic Alliance.
Echoing threat alarms and warnings bring a swarm of security ships from the planet's surface when the vessel is spotted. Inside one of these white-plated security ships, encased in a transparisteel canopy trimmed in the same burgundy as its wings, is another woman.
Her name is Mara.

Mara Jade Skywalker is as happy as she's ever been. Three years after the end of the Yuuzhan Vong conflict, she is healthy and married to a man who adores her, raising their five-year-old son, Ben, together in the relative peace of the galaxy's temporary capital. She is thinking only about how she would rather be flying the Jade Shadow or her new starfighter instead of the slower snubfighter issued to the planet's security force.

She has no idea that her life is about to be ruined.
As a special agent working for the GFI, Mara's experience and status as a Jedi Master leave her at the head of the pack. The alien craft has not responded to the numerous panicked hails from the communications stations on Denon's surface. It does not have a HoloNet transceiver, nor has it ever had a use for one until now.
Before Mara sends a short range burst transmission from her fighter warning its pilot that it will be shot down if it continues towards the planet without responding and identifying itself, she reaches out with the Force, the great life-energy that surrounds, fills, and binds the universe together.
She reaches for the ship.
That's when she realizes.
Inside the Watchkeeper Nebula, the Eye of the Galaxy watches all.

Though I haven't read the prequels to this (though I have been meaning to do so and will someday, I swear ), this grabbed me right from the get-go. Very Stover-esque writing, without being any sort of ripoff. I like how you began this with a plot twist. I was sitting like this: by the end.
Dramatis Personae: Now that's what I'm talking about! I'm working on something that will probably never see the light of day, and I thought it was going to be unmanagable with almost 40 characters. I look forward to seeing you juggle your 75. Though if anyone has that kind of dexterity, I'm sure it's you.

W00T!!! I can't believe it's finally here! This fic sounds so fun! I like the title too. And what a cast of characters! How will you keep track of them all?!?  Now I have the "Battle of Heroes" song stuck in my head. *grumbles*
