Chapter Five: Messages Left Behind
A few weeks later....
The Yuuzhan Vong started their campaign against the Jedi, calling for the entire galaxy to turn over all and any Jedi in exchange of ending their conquest of the galaxy. Many systems tried and some succeeded. Dorsk 82, Swilja Fenn and Seyyerin Itoklo had fallen through the attacks on the Jedi. Countless others whose gifts haven't been realized or those suspected to be Force talented were turned over as well. A group calling themselves the Peace Brigade a danger as well. With no ties to any one system or political party, they went from Rim to Core hunting down anyone suspected to be Jedi or connected to the Jedi.
All in order for peace with an alien invader whose presence was smothering the galaxy.
"This is sithspit and you know it!!" an angry voice yelled.
Some Jedi had taken up arms to face these invaders. Most notably Kyp Durron and his Dozen, a group of Jedi who fought along side him in their x-wings. He was the leader for the use of aggressive fighting towards the Yuuzhan Vong. He had quite a following with him at the meeting with Master Skywalker.
"Kyp, I understand how you feel." Luke Skywalker said.
Luke Skywalker, leader of the Jedi, promoted non aggressive action against the Yuuzhan Vong.
"I submit sir, you don't know how I feel. If you did, you'll be out there with us, fighting against the Vong instead of playing nursemaids." Kyp ran a hand through his dark hair shot with silver. The Jedi you trained and inspired are being hunted down and killed throughout the galaxy. Doesn't your blood burn to do something about?"
"Of course I want to do something about it." Luke said. "That's why I called this meeting. But anger is not the answer. Attack is not the answer and retribution most certainly is not. We are Jedi. We defend. We support."
"Defend who? Support who? The same beings who throw us to the Vong in useless hope that the Vong will pass them by---"
Jacen shook his head sadly, turning his attention elsewhere. He could see already that this wasn't going anywhere. It never did. Kyp believed that aggression against aggression was the answer. Uncle Luke thought differently and Jacen agreed with him. Kyp may think that he was doing right by destroying supply ships and a couple of skippers but Jacen knew that fighting wasn't the answer. Not against beings whose life was nothing but war.
"---Ventra's mission against the Vong."
Jacen's head shot towards Kyp and his uncle.
"You had no right to do that." Luke said.
"I offered her a chance to make a difference and she took it." Kyp said, his arms crossed his chest. He tilt his head to the side. "I'm surprised that no one has told you yet."
"How long has she been gone?" Luke demanded.
"It's been a couple of weeks." Kyp shrugged. "Ask your nephew there." Kyp smirked at Jacen. "He should know all about her mission."
Luke turned to Jacen, his face revealing nothing but Jacen knew from the look in his uncle's eyes that he was surprised. Jacen didn't say anything as he stared at Kyp before leaving the meeting. He could hear the meeting continue as the door shut behind him.
Flashback....
Jacen dressed into fresh clothes, wondering what made Alia take off the way she did. She didn't leave a note, message or anything to tell him if she was coming back or if she was gone for good. Jacen chewed his lower lip. What if she was in some kind of trouble?
Beep! Beep! Beep!
It was the doorbell. Jacen rushed to open it, hoping that it would be Alia. He pulled open the door to see Kyp Durron standing there with a smirk on his face.
"Sorry lover boy, it’s me." Kyp said.
"Kyp? How did you know I lived here?" Jacen asked, surprised that he even knew where he lived. He didn't much care for Kyp and he was sure that Kyp felt the same way about him. When he was younger, it was different. Back then, Kyp was cool to be around with seeing that his Dad and he were friends.
"I've come to deliver a message to you." Kyp said, digging into his robes. "I tried catching you before but it looked like you left before I could reach you."
"What do you mean?" Jacen said, giving Kyp a slight smile. "I've been home this whole time."
"Oh, I didn't try here." Kyp said, finding what he was looking for. He handed the small holo player to Jacen. "I tried Alia's place." At Jacen's shocked face he shrugged and smile. "Don't be so shocked Solo. Alia told me before she left on her mission."
"S-she did? W-what did she say?" Jacen tried to hide his nervousness from Kyp's prying eyes as he reached for the holo player.
"Relax Solo. I won't tell anyone. Alia made it quite clear that she didn't want anyone to know about her and you." Kyp said, narrowing his eyes at Jacen. "I wonder why."
Jacen shrugged, holding his hands up in the air. "I don't know. I woke up and she was gone---!"
Kyp laughed at this. "She didn't wake you up before she left?! What did you two have a spat the night before or what?"
Jacen glared at him. "Are you finished?"
"Yeah, I did what I had to do." Kyp said, heading towards the door. He stopped when he reached for the door pad. "Listen, Alia's a special girl. She may be lost right now but at least she has an idea of what she wants. Don't compromise her with your strange ideals and pacifists views. She's a good fighter and we need her on the front lines, not stuck in the back twiddling her thumbs."
"You can leave now." Jacen said. Kyp sighed and left. Jacen sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose before he held up the player and pressed play.
A holo of Alia appeared, dressed in a purple flight suit, her lightsaber clipped at her waist. "Hey Jacen. If you're listening to this message then it means that Master Durron delivered it to you. Sorry about that, I know how you two can't stand each other right now but he's the only one I trust to deliver this holo to you----" He listened, memorizing everything about her and what she was saying.
Jacen sighed and leaning against the wall outside the meeting. He listened to the meeting as the arguing became more heated and louder before Kyp walked out. Anakin and Jaina chased after him, hoping to change his mind. It would be useless because Kyp already had his mind made up to fight against the Vong. A few minutes later his sister and brother walked up with foreboding looks on their faces.
"I could have told you not to waste your breathe." Jacen said as they reached him.
"But we had to try." Jaina said. "We couldn't just let him go without trying to make him see that Uncle Luke's way is the right way to go about fighting this war."
"But Kyp is right." Anakin said. At his siblings debelief looks, he added, "We can't keep letting the Vong push us around. They're killing us for crying out loud. Maybe Kyp has the right idea in protecting ourselves."
"No." Jacen said firmly. "We're Jedi. We have a mission to protect the innocent and helpless. Not to attack without just cause."
"That's not what Alia Ventra thought." Jaina said.
"What?" Jacen took a step back. "How did you--"
"Know that you have something to do with Alia Ventra's mission? Kyp told us to ask you." Jaina said, her arms crossed as she studied her twin. "What do you have to do with Alia's mission, brother?"
"Nothing!" Jacen said. "I swear I have---"
"Jacen." They turned around to see Luke standing in the doorway. "I would like have a talk with you."
"Yes Uncle." Jacen said, giving Jaina and Anakin a I'll-tell-you-later look as he followed Luke back into the meeting.
Anakin turned to Jaina. "Who's Alia?"

RE: Fading Starlight ( AU NJO) (J/OC)
What has Alia gotten herself into?
I'm sure that Luke will find out soon enough... Jacen won't be able to hang onto the information for long.
And the rift between the Jedi (and the siblings-- Jacen and Anakin) is growing.
Great update! I'm looking forward to more!

jaina_clan_solo: Oh I don't know what Alia got herself into but you can be sure that it can't be any good! Glad you liked it.
Darph_Nader: Well you can stop counting (at least for now) because there are two new chappies to feast on!
G_Anakin:
Okay so here is the first of the two...Enjoy!!
Chapter Six: Holo Message
Jacen walked into the empty meeting room as everyone left for a brief break soon after Kyp stormed out. Jacen glanced at his uncle, seeing the fine lines of worry and concentration that seemed to be a constant on his face recently. Jacen didn't envy the burden his uncle had to bare as leader of the New Jedi Order.
He waited for Luke to speak.
"How long have you know about this mission?" Luke asked after a long period of silence.
"Since Alia left. That was more than six weeks ago." Jacen answered.
"And you didn't see fit to tell me?"
"I thought you knew." Jacen walked closer to Luke, standing besides him as they look out of the window that overlooked the Senate. "I swear---if I had known that you didn't know, I would've told you. I wouldn't keep something like this away from you."
"I know." Luke replied. He put an arm on his nephew's shoulder. "I know."
Jacen nodded and pulled out the holo of Alia from his robes. "Here's the message Alia left me. I don't know helpful it would be now but maybe you can find something I missed." He handed it to Luke.
Luke held up the small metal before placing it flat in his artificial hand and waited for it to play. A small holo of Alia appeared, dressed in a purple flight suit, her lightsaber clipped at her waist.
"Hey Jacen. If you're listening to this message then it means that Master Durron delivered it to you. Sorry about that, I know how you two can't stand each other right now but he's the only one I trust to deliver this holo to you intact and without sneaking a peak."
She paused and took a deep breathe before letting it out. She shifted before speaking again,
"Listen, I'm sorry for the way I left. I took the coward's way out but believe me; it has nothing to do with you. In fact, you were great."
she smiled shyly before biting her lower lip.
"But something came up. Something really important that could change the tide of the war. Master Durron needed someone to go check it out and he knows that I'm the best one for the job. And he should, I've been on these missions for so long that I don't think anything about them anymore. But you have to keep it under wraps okay? Master Durron said that no one can know of my mission, said that secretcy was important to Master Skywalker. You know, the less who knows the better? Or something like that---I tend to mess up quotes."
"It’s a mission to Sernpidal. Apparently the Vong have been building something there. I'm going to check it out and report what I find. It could be a weapon or a ship, who knows. But Jacen,”
she stopped, looking at something off screen.
"I'm almost of out time now---man, I ramble on sometimes, don't I? Jacen, I'll be back okay. And when I do, we can sort out our relationship. If you want to continue it of course. Cuz I do."
She blew him a kiss before the holo dissipated.
Luke stared thoughtfully at the empty air before he turned to Jacen. He gave his nephew a new look as this holo only brought up new questions before pushing them back. The war had to come first---for now. Later he could play the inquisitive uncle and probe into his nephew's life.
"Thank you Jacen." Luke said, handing Jacen back the holo. "This has been very informative."
"You didn't know did you?" Jacen said as he pocketed the holo. "About this mission."
Luke shook his head. "I'm afraid not. It comes as no great surprise. I've been so distracted lately that I've lost track of many of the Jedi and their course of action in this war. Alia did what she thought was right."
"But Kyp lied to her. He said that you agreed to this mission when you didn’t." Jacen stepped away from the window and Luke. "It's not right."
"Kyp has a different view of on how to fight this war. It may be wrong how he’s fighting it but others don’t see it the way we do." Luke said, walking pass Jacen before stopping near the doorway. "He's getting more followers everyday. I have to find a way to put a stop to it before it gets out of hand."
"What about Alia?"
"There's nothing we can do but wait until we hear something about her or from her. It's out of our hands."
"So we sit back and do nothing?"
"No. We do something other than worry about her. She's a grown girl Jacen." Luke gave Jacen a wary smile. "Just like you're a grown man. I trust that we can make our own choices in how to deal in the war. May it be fighting in the front lines or helping sending or receiving supplies or even helping the wounded and misplaced in their new home. We just have to choose."
With that, he left the meeting room.
Jacen remained where he was, thinking over what his uncle said before walking out of the room. He knew what he had to do. If he couldn't fight against the Yuuzahn Vong, then he could help with the survivors and the refugees. It's what Alia would have wanted.

Here's number two!!
Chapter Seven: Edge of Numbness
Jacen worked through the months tirelessly, helping where he could and going out to search for more work to do when he finished. He zipped across the galaxy, doing what he could and preparing the way for the Jedi to travel without worrying about getting captured by the Yuuzhan Vong or the Peace Bridge. Anything to keep his mind off of Alia. It wasn't so hard to do so.
Right after his talk with Uncle Luke and something during the talk with his brother and sister, Anakin got the bright idea of going off on his own to the Academy to warn the Kam and Tionne about the dangers now facing the Jedi. It ended up being a fight for survival as the Peace Bridge had reached the same thought as the Jedi in using the students to broker a deal with the Yuuzhan Vong.
Only Anakin arrived first and created enough of a diversion for the Jedi to hide until Talon Karrde arrived and whisked them off planet. But during the fight, Tahiri had been captured and Anakin and two other students trapped on the planet. He sent off to rescue his friend who was being shaped by the Yuuzhan Vong shapers.
Jacen had spent many hours with Jaina zipping across the galaxy searching for Corran Horn to help them as he had removed himself for the Order after the Fall of Ithor. In the end, Anakin saved Tahiri and with the others students, they managed to escape as Karrde's Star Destroyer bombarded Yavin.
Even the joyous surprise he received when Luke and Mara announced that they were expecting a child could only take his attentions away from his own problems for a few hours. But he put up a brave front, trying his best to annoy his aunt so she wouldn't stress about the baby or her ability to raise he/she when he/she arrived.
But even all that couldn't erase the hollowed pain and the edge of numbness he felt every time he thought of the last Jedi meeting held a month earlier called by Kyp Durron. It couldn't erase what he felt during it as he watched the holo that Kyp had presented to everyone. Of what had happened to Alia.
A month earlier....
"---sorry, Master Durron. The mission is only half completed. I'm afraid my time here is limited. The Yuuzhan Vong has my ship captured and they're pulling me in. The only reason I'm not space debris is because they want to catch me alive so they can sacrifice me to their Gods."
Jacen could see how thin and upset she was in the holo. Even though he knew that everything taking place in front of him had long since been over, he couldn't help but want to reach out and help Alia. Her hair was tied back in a messy bun, probably to keep her hair out of her face. She wore a dirty and torn orange tank top that had blood on it. He wasn't sure if it was hers or someone else’s.
Alia wiped at the sweat that dripped in her eyes.
"I've sent out the encrypted message out to all ships--"
there was an explosion of sparks in the background that caused many in the room to jump in surprise. Alia turned around to look at the damage before facing the recorder again, her face paler now.
"I hope that the Jedi will receive this message before it’s too late. They found a new way of hunting us down. It's a creature from which I've never seen before, vicious and relentless. It must be a native to our galaxy because I can feel it in the Force. But more than that, it uses the Force to hunt us down."
Jacen glanced around the meeting, seeing that all the Jedi has their eyes fixated on the holo. He had to dampen his presence in the Force lest he be overcome by the shock, suspense and various other darker emotions in the room. He returned his attention to the holo.
"It has toxins on its skin, its claws and bites, every bit of the creature could be potentially deadly."
she said, holding up her arm that was wrapped up tightly.
"My body chemistry has fought off most of the toxins but there is something else, it spits acid and it has a sonic scream."
"The Yuuzhan Vong calls it Voyxn."
As she spoke, an explosion from somewhere on the ship shook and the holorecorder fell to the ground, its view now sideways. Alia didn't seem to care as she lit her blue lightsaber, her attentions focused at something out of view. Thud bugs flew in and she twirled and slashed at them before she was taken down by a strange eight legged creature.
She screamed, from pain or terror, Jacen wasn't sure as he stared in horror at the scene. She struggled with the beast before it seemingly flew off her of and hit the wall next to her. She rolled to her side and reached for her lightsaber as it turned and jumped at her.
She fell out of view momentarily before reappearing, landing on her back with the creature on her, a bright beam of blue light sticking out of its back. She pushed the body off her, and rolled to her knees and bleeding from new scratches, with her lightsaber held in front of her. Guttural tongues spoke harshly as Yuuzhan Vong warriors attacked her.
She fought against them, cutting down three but in the end they knocked her out with a blow to the head. A pair of Yuuzahn Vong warriors carried her out by her arms, dragging her out. A few minutes later the recording ended.
Silence hung in the air, broken by a few quiet sobs. The room was greatly affected by what they just witnessed. Jacen himself couldn't help but take the hug his sister gave him. He told Jaina not long after his talk with Uncle Luke, about how far he took the relationship with Alia. She wouldn't stop pestering him until he did. Afterwards, she kept him hopeful and didn't let him fall into worrying or despair through messages and holos. He needed her now as he ever did.
"That's the last of the signal." Kyp said quietly. "I've tried to reach her ship but apparently it self destructed not soon after. All I found was debris of several coral skippers and her ship."
Silence hung in the air as everyone tried to make sense of what they saw. The thought that one of their own was seen fighting and captured in front of them unsettled a lot of them. And to imagine what she was going through since her capture at their hands was unthinkable. If she was still alive---
"Could she still be alive?"
"I pray not." Kyp said quickly. At the stunned looks of the others he said, "The Vong torture their prisoners. To the point of no return or for a sacrifice later on. Alia---she's trusted me completely to lead her right. And I pushed her down the path that led her in the hands of the Vong. I feel responsible for this--"
"You should be." Jacen said, finally speaking up. "How can you call yourself a Jedi by using her like that?"
"How dare you!" Kyp turned around to face Jacen in anger. His followers jumped to their feet as well, if only to make sure that a fight wouldn't break out. "You don't know anything!!"
"I know that Alia is trapped by the Yuuzhan Vong. She's alive and being put through some kind of unimaginable torture and for what?! What was so important that she had to leave without telling anyone where she went and without the consent of Master Skywalker?!" Jacen demanded.
"Fighting a war! Something you don't know anything about." Kyp replied hotly. "No, you'd rather be sitting back, pondering whys and meaningless nothings while the Vong kill and destroy the galaxy around you. How can
YOU
call yourself a Jedi!?"
Suddenly he dropped as a wave of white hot pain shot through his entire body. A scream he didn't recognize as his own rose from his throat. Around him, several others fell as well, holding their heads and bodies as the wave went through them all.
Jacen struggled to breathe, sweat dripping down his body until the agony of being ripped into a million pieces all at once faded. He felt hands around him, pulling him to his feet and leading him to a chair where he sat, numbly. He looked around in a daze to see Kyp and the others to chairs. He noted that the ones who did fall were the Jedi's more talented in empathy and telepathy.
"What happened? What was that?"
Questions arose and defenses heighten as the Jedi thought that they were being attack by some new and unknown weapon before Luke stood up. "It's not a new attack." His face was drawn in grief. "Many of us just felt Alia Ventra's death. Pray that she finally found the peace that she couldn't in life."
~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~
“Hey Jacen, you in here?!” A yell broke through Jacen's thought. He pushed himself up from his bed.
“In here Dad!” Jacen yelled towards the door. Han Solo walked in, his two day old beard showing on his face. His shirt was dirty as well as his hands from working of the
Falcon
.
“You’re not brooding again are ya?” Han asked his son. “Cuz I can put you to work you know.”
“No, I’m fine Dad.” Jacen replied. “Just thinking.”
“Yeah well, those two tend to be the same thing nowadays with you.”
“I guess.” Jacen shrugged. “So where’s Mom?”
“Looking for you.”
“Me?”
“Everyone’s looking for you kid. Luke wants you to return to the Temple. Says that it’s something important. I guess some kind of Jedi business, I don’t know. But whatever it is, it’s causing a commotion over there.” Han helped Jacen to his feet and they walked out of Jacen’s bunk.
“What do you mean?” Jacen asked, frowning. He opened himself up in the Force and grabbed onto his dad as a barrage of urgent feelings and warning ran through him. All from his family and friends. He swallowed large amounts of air as he refocused his thoughts before sending out a signal that meant he was coming. He looked up at his Dad. “You weren’t kidding.”
“Yeah.” Han replied. “I guess everyone is excited that this Alia person showed up.”
“What?!”

first update:
I think that Jacen did the right thing (finally) telling Luke about the disappearance of Alia. Luke needed to do something more to stop the division in the Jedi Order.
Second update:
when you killed Alia.... and the way it affected Jacen.
and now she's back. She isn't going to be the same after whatever the Vong did to her. I hope that Jacen will be able to help her through it.
And now they know about the Voxyn...
nasty things those are.
great updates!

jaina_clan_solo: I don't think anyone is ever the same with an encounter with the Yuuzhan Vong. Thanks for the review!!
Darph_ Nader: Wonder what's gonna happen, especially now that Alia has gone through changes?
Ooh...better stay tuned!
G_Anakin: Since you said please---here is another chapter. Its cool that you're so interested in this story.
Another note---Summer is here
so I will have more chances in writing more now that school is over with---for now...
---------------------------------------------
Chapter Eight: Welcoming Friend or Foe?
Luke watched Alia floating in the bacta tank, wearing thin, white medical clothes. She was on the mend and healing beautifully. But there was only one problem. He couldn't sense her---at all. She was devoid of the Force, just like the Yuuzhan Vong. There was an absence around her, as if the Force didn't want anything to do with her. Anakin had told him that he experienced the same when Tahiri was being shaped. Not only that, she had exotic tattoos branded on her chest reaching up to her neck and around her arms. Her body was covered with scars weeks old and bruises that were slowly disappearing.
Alia had been missing for months, captured by the Yuuzhan Vong. He felt a surge in the Force that he had thought was her death just like Kyp and others had. Never had a Jedi returned from a long period among the Yuuzhan Vong without severe consquences. The few that have escaped from the Yuuzhan Vong spoke of torture and breakings and have yet to completely return to their way of life. Tahiri was scarred physically and mentally from their attempt to turn her into---someone other than Tahiri.
And that is what worried Luke the most. What if they succeeded with Alia where they failed with Tahiri? They could be welcoming an enemy instead of a friend. He knew that the Yuuzhan Vong viewed tattoos and scars differently than everyone else and to receive them spoke volumes without saying a word. Alia must have gone through some kind of passage to receive them.
Even Jacen had his reserves about Alia. He knew as much as anyone what the Vong put their prisoners through. The scar on his cheek from when Luke pried a slave seed from him on Belkadan was proof of that. But he chose to ignore the dangers around Alia. He had visited Alia any chance he could. He made Luke promise to call him if there was any change in Alia's condition when he was away
Kyp had come and gone over the days when she first arrived. He heard from the doctors watching over Alia's healing that Kyp had pulled her out of the tank and spoken with her about something. It was after that he disappeared and only a few days after he sent Jaina to bring him back that he heard of a surprise attack at Sernpidal. He didn't know the whole story yet, but he knew that Jaina was returning with Kyp Durron with her. He was expecting to meet them tomorrow.
A machine beeping drew him out of his thoughts.
The infirmary doors whispered opened behind Luke and he turned around to see a doctor walk/run into the room. Concern rolled off him as he made his way to Alia's tank. "Excuse me sir, but have you seen the patient show any signs of distress?"
Luke frowned as he glanced back at Alia, still floating peacefully before turning to the doctor. "No, I haven't."
"Are you sure? Her adrenaline levels are skyrocketing and endorphins are flooding her blood stream." the doctor said as he pressed the release button to drain the tank. They watched as the tank drained and Alia floated down to the bottom of the floor. The green light blinked and a buzzer sounded as the doctor entered the tank area. Luke watched as the doctor bent over to check on Alia's vitals and take off the breathing mask.
So he was prepared when Alia attacked. She shot up to her knees, grabbing the doctor's throat with one hand as her other drew back, her fingers stiff and together like a knife, ready to be plunged into the doctor when Luke grabbed her from behind.
She let go of the doctor and turned her attentions to Luke. She struggled in his arms before elbowing him in the chest. He let go and she rolled away from him, crouched on the other side of the tank, her hands in front of her like claws and her teeth bared in anger. Luke stepped towards her, ready to stop her if she planned on running. But she remained where she was, her eyes feral wild.
"Alia? Do you know who I am?" Luke asked her. "I'm Luke Skywalker. You're on Coruscant in the Jedi Temple in the infirmary. Alia, can you understand what I'm saying to you."
"
Mon-mawl rrish hu camasami!!
" Alia snarled a reply but he couldn't understand it. It was guttural and harsh, much like how the Yuuzhan Vong spoke. Luke's heart fell as he realized that she might be what they set out to create with Tahiri. She could be a Jedi shaped into a Yuuzhan Vong.
The doors whispered open as someone else entered the room outside the tank where the doctor had scrambled to safety.
"Uncle Luke I'm back." Jacen called out as he entered. "I ate and slept a full---hey what are you doing out here?"
"It's the patient!" the doctor's startled voice said from outside the tank. "She's gone mad!"
"Alia?" There was silence before Jacen appeared at the opening of the tank. "Alia!"
Alia growled and ran towards Jacen.
"Jacen look out!" Luke yelled as Alia tackled Jacen. He watched helplessly as Jacen and Alia struggled on the floor outside the tank. They rolled out of view and Luke ran out to see Alia landing in a wet heap on the other side of the room. Blood trickled from her mouth and two black snakelike things, which he instantly identified at amphistaffs, were curled in front of her hissing and jumping in place at them. Luke pulled out his lightsaber, ready to ignite it and cut them in pieces when Jacen stopped him.
"Don't! It's okay." Jacen said, holding up a hand as he climbed to his feet. Blood dripped from his nose which he wiped away with his sleeve. "She's fine. I'm fine."
"She's been shaped." Luke said, walking up to his nephew. "She's a danger to everyone now."
"Are you sure?" Jacen asked. "I mean, she's been prisoner for months. She could just be traumatized."
"Jacen, she spoke to me in Vong." Luke said. "She's devoid of the Force. She attacked the doctor, me and you. She's been shaped by the Vong."
"No."
They looked over at Alia as the amphistaffs curled themselves around her forearms, sinking their fangs into her wrists to latch on. She hissed, locking her slightly calmer golden eyes onto Luke and Jacen. She pushed herself up to a kneeling position, her hair covering half her face. It was longer now, and tangled into curls.
"Yuuzhan Vong." she corrected them. "To call them Vong is to insult them. It implies that the person doesn't have the favor and kinship of the Gods or family."
She started giggling, high pitched chimes that quickly dissolved into tearful whimpers as she rocked on her knees, looking around her in confusion. She scooted backwards until her back hit the wall behind her and grabbed onto the legs of a table, looking up at Luke and Jacen as if noticing them for the first time.
"Master Skywalker? Jacen Solo?" she tilt her head to the side, her eyes clear, a deep golden color. "What are you doing here?"
Luke stepped forward, his hands in front of him, palms up. "We've come to check on you." he replied. "Alia, do you know where you are?"
"Of course I do. I'm---ah--" she paused, frowning as she struggled to put words together.
"Hurry and get the injections---hold her down--Alia!---Alia ---Ki Ylene ---take her to medical --aahhh!!--
She closed her eyes as she replied, "In medical. On Coruscant."
Luke nodded, noting that pause during Alia's answer. "That's right. Do you know why?"
"Because---"
"It is near enough to the truth to say that I'm a messenger of melancholy--a herald of tragedy, bearing gifts to ease the grieved. A mourner, with grave goods to decorate the tomb. A hierophant, to perform the sacred offices for the dead--"
"What are you talking about? I don't--I can't--"
"Of course you can't. It's enough that the dead suffer their demise; would it be fair to ask them understand it as well?"
"---take care of her. The Gods demand--"
"Domain Ylene---it's your domain now."
"---
duwin tur voxyn
!! "
"Don't leave me!! Please--ALIA!!"
"--Because--I was captured. But the Yuuzhan Vong--they--they--" Alia started rocking on her knees again, wrapping her arms tightly around herself, her nails digging into her skin as images of everything she's been through flashed through her mind at once. Too fast for her to understand and voices and sounds, screams and demands that flooded her senses. "Oh gods! The things they did--"
"Alia, its okay now." Luke said calmly, walking forward and knelt before her so he was face to face with her. "You're safe here. There's no Yuuzhan Vong around to hurt you." He reached out to her with his artificial hand. "You're safe."
"Abomination!" she screamed, knocking his hand off her shoulder. The amphistaffs pulled their fangs from her wrist, blood seeping from the bites, hissing and snapping. "Don't touch me with the Abomination!!"
She scooted away, muttering under her breath, guttural and harsh when Jacen took a gamble and grabbed her around the wrists. The amphistaffs wrapped themselves around his arms, holding him to Alia and getting ready to bite him. But he didn't fear them, his only focus on Alia. He clutched her face in his hands, staring into her eyes. "Alia--listen to Master Skywalker. You're safe. You're home."
"Home?" she whimpered.
"Yes." Jacen smiled slightly, his grin slightly off center like his fathers. He smoothed her hair back to see her face, hiding the hurt he felt when he saw the long jagged scar that ran on the left side of her face. He took a closer look to see that it was purposely done to cause more pain than necessary. "You're finally home."
Tears fell from Alia's eyes as she ducked her head down and sobbed, the amphistaffs releasing their hold on Jacen and settled back around Alia. She sobbed and clutched at his robes as Jacen pulled her close, giving her a shoulder to cry on as Luke Skywalker looked on.

RE: Fading Starlight ( AU NJO) (J/OC)
Poor Alia! She's going to have a long hard recovery in front of her
Everything that surrounds her is going to seem like an 'abomination' for a very long time. She is very lucky to have Jacen to help her-- and that she currently seems willing to accept his help.
I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next!
