	MirandaFair Oh...who's controlling Cem? What an ending... He's delusional. It's Khay Don's fault. If you have to blame someone, blame her. ccp I'm thinking bad was not a severe enought discerptive for this hang over. This is more like a post spring break hangover you know the kind that lasts two or three days. Or when you've drank a lot of wine the night before and your thristy and every drink of water just makes your head hurt worse. Yep. I really like this anology. 	Man that was a fast change from helping her to thinking she's Khay Don and trying to kill her (at least it seemed fast) Hope he can realize his mistake before one or both of them gets hurt. 	NOTE: Jag is not dead! Chapter twelve He was firing rapidly, but seemingly without aim. His hands were trembling violently, and his baby blue eyes were clouded with pain and confusion. From where she was standing, his lack of aim was not comforting. Several bolts of the weapon had sizzled awfully close to her. “Cem!” she shouted. “Snap out of it.” His head jerked at the mention of his name and he hesitated before depressing the trigger. Jaina took the opportunity to tackle him. His body was feverishly hot. Jaina thought that he had probably gotten some sort of an infection, and cursed herself for not taking better care of him. She wrestled the blaster from his surprisingly strong grip. Once she had a firm grip on the weapon, she flung it as hard as she could in the direction of the Jedi Temple. “Jedi (&^#!” Cem snarled. He curled one hand into a sweaty fist and slammed it into the side of Jaina’s face, using his legs at the same time to push her off his body. Jaina pulled back, content in the knowledge that he was unarmed. She had no reason to pin him to the ground. What she needed was to get him a batch of antibiotics, something to fight the feverish infection clouding his brain. He staggered to his feet, dropping into a loose fighting stance. “You think you’re something else, Jedi!” he spat. “De’lup psie mu’rak!” His fever stained eyes flashed with anger and he launched himself forward. In spite of his obvious confusion, he was still a good fighter. He pinned Jaina to the ground, driving his knee into her stomach as they fell. With a vicious, but calculated fury, he pressed his assault on her, raining blows against her body even as he was crying and burning up from the fever. Jaina was conflicted. He was hurting. He was sick. It was her fault that he was out here.* How could she attack him? He had called her his Guardian Angel and softly cleaned the cuts on her hands. He had promised to protect her. How could she hurt him? At the back of her mind, a nagging little voice spoke up. If you let him destroy you, you can’t save him. That wasn’t a comforting thought. Jaina moved her arms to intercept his blows and almost started fighting him fully. Something stopped her. A feeling of wrongness to that particular action. For a split second, Jaina almost imagined that it had been the Force whispering the dangers of retaliatory violence. Then the feeling was gone. “Cem, stop . . .” she said softly. Delicately she raised one hand to his face, touching her fingertips to the un-bruised side of his face. “We don’t have to do this.” He laughed, a bitter bray of sound, and pulled back from his assault on her. “Don’t think your Jedi mind tricks will work on me.” His lips curled into a sneer and he gazed down at her through his fever murky vision. Jaina, flat on her back with a twenty-some year old male straddling her hips, felt a bit disconcerted. Her heart gave an odd little twist at the feeling of the position. And that threw her off-balance. How could she be thinking like that at all in a situation as desperate as this? “Cem, you’re sick. You need help. You have a fever –“ His shoulders tightened. “I will not be at your mercy,” he breathed. “I will not.” “I’m at your mercy,” Jaina said soothingly. As she spoke she slipped one hand to the spilled contents of the med-kit and started feeling around for the shot of antibiotics she had been preparing before he had tackled her to the ground. “Yes you are, Jedi scum.” The coldness in his voice was almost crippling. Jaina only managed to work past it because she knew that it wasn’t directed at her. Not really. He was thinking about Khay Don, not her. “Cem, I’m going to help you now.” She brought her hand back into view slowly. “I need to give you –“ His eyes fell on the injector and narrowed in cold anger. “I don’t think so –“ Before he had finished speaking he had seized her wrist locking it over her head. Now he was inches from her face. His baby blue eyes, laced with pain and bitter anger, were locked onto hers. His breath was coming in hot, ragged gasps. “I wish that you had . . .” his words trailed off and he coughed, a splatter of blond surfacing on his lips. “I wish that you had . . . died.” With her free hand, Jaina placed her palm soothingly against his ribs. She couldn’t think of anything to say in response to his words. The nagging voice – the possible Force suggestion – was gone, and she had no help there. But actions spoke louder than words. She rubbed his side gently, and then drew him closer to her body in a one-armed hug. A sob broke through his body, and salty tears fell from his eyes. “I hate you!” he sobbed in rage. He pressed his face into her neck, body shaking. Weakly he tried to hit her from the closer position, but couldn’t seem to connect. “I hate you . . .” he whispered weakly. Jaina still didn’t articulate fully. She continued to hold him lovingly, whispering soothing words of comfort, and not acknowledging his profession of hatred. She hadn’t known Cem long, but she did know that this wasn’t like him at all. She doubted that the young spy had ever cried past the age of eight. He was too calm, cool, and arrogant / confident for such crippling emotions to render his helpless. And yet here he was, sobbing that he hated her. She slowly freed her pinned wrist from his grasp, leaving the injector on the dusty ground. “It’s okay, Cem. I’m here. I’ll protect you.” Tell me what’s wrong. Tell me what I can do to help. His body was so hot against her; the fever was burning through his veins. He was trembling, caught in the grip of emotions and weakness. “Cem I’m going to give you a shot now,” Jaina said softly. “I hate you . . .” he murmured, the words cutting like a dull vibro-blade. He raised one hand enough to stroke it jerkily through her hair, entwining his fingers in the gritty brown strands. “Stupid Jedi . . .” Jaina lifted the interjector. “You have to move back,” she commanded. “I’m going to inject it into your heart so it hits the blood-stream faster.” Her words penetrated his haze and he jerked back, pulling a tuft of her hair loose because he was still enmeshed in the strands. “No! I hate needles!” he shouted. Jaina pressed the edge of the needle against his skin, and triggered the depression button. He swallowed hard, and shook his head, trying to clear it. “I hate needles.” Jaina rubbed the only part of his body she could really reach – his thighs. “They’re not very nice, are they?” she asked, relived that she had managed to administer the antibiotic. “You’re not nice.” He paused, searching strenuously for the right words. “You’re evil. That’s what I see . . . when I look at you.” He laughed, the same bitter bark of noise that she had heard earlier. “Jaina Solo, you are a black hole of despair and everyone near you is inevitably drawn in and destroyed.” It hurt to have her name attached to such a statement. Jaina felt her eyes watering up with tears and blinked them back. He doesn’t mean you . . . she thought. “I hate you.” His eyes seemed to be clearing a little bit from the film of fever. Now they were dropping with exhaustion. He shook his head, trying to stay awake and glanced down at the girl he was still straddling. Jaina gazed back up at him, eyes slightly misty, face dirty. “Why?” she found herself asking. “Why do you hate . . . me?” He blinked, trying to focus. “Because you killed . . .” he began, but stopped, shaking his head again. With one hand he brushed the hair back from her left cheek. A thin jagged scar met his eyes. “Killed . . .” he said, trying to grasp the thought even as it was slipping away. Jaina felt cold. Khay Don was killing people using her name. She had killed someone close to Cem. And now he was here, thirsting for revenge and spying on the Jedi Order. He was crying again. “Jaina . . . I don’t hate you,” he said, voice firm even as his body trembled in weakness and sorrow. He swayed, body falling forward. At the last possible second he braced himself by thrusting his palms out to either side of her head. “I hate Joiner-Jaina . . . Khay Don. I hate her.” “Cem I –“ “She killed him. 	I'm glad you said Jag is not dead at the begining or I'd be really worried right now (despite the fact that you said this was going to be J/J) Poor Cem. I really hope he gets to get his revenge on Khay Don. He swallowed hard, and shook his head, trying to clear it. “I hate needles.” Me too. Awsome job! 	Wait a minute. It was Leia who shot down Jagged over Tenupe. That would mean Khay Don went back to Tenupe and tried to finish the job. Frankly, As I read the chapter, I thought Khay Don might have killed Cem's previous girl friend while she was slaughtering all those Chiss on Tenupe. Chiss Teacher on Csalpar: "Now that we covered the history of the Killik War, I think it is fitting to conclude the section with this." "Now turn to page ... for a quote: "I killed them.
