	ccp Great update. So Cem thinks his brother is dead or is he metaphoricly dead? He just thinks Jag is dead. Little hair of the dog with telling us Jag is not dead. I didn't want to cause too much panic. I consider myself nicer than that. Darth Mu Wait a minute. It was Leia who shot down Jagged over Tenupe. That would mean Khay Don went back to Tenupe and tried to finish the job. Cem's not exactly thinking straight. And ultimatly he blames Jaina (the fake one) for everything. Frankly, As I read the chapter, I thought Khay Don might have killed Cem's previous girl friend while she was slaughtering all those Chiss on Tenupe. Now that is an idea. It doesn't work for this fic, but you might see a short story in the future . . . Chiss Teacher on Csalpar: "Now that we covered the history of the Killik War, I think it is fitting to conclude the section with this." "Now turn to page ... for a quote: "I killed them. And not just the men. But the women. And the children. They screamed like animals, and I slaughtered them like animals." -- Jaina Solo on Tenupe" Teacher looks around the room and notice a human hand raising, much to her annoyance. Later that evening. "Yes, Ms (read Wyn). Fel. You must provide better home guidance for your daughter, she was very disruptive in class today. She insisted that the History Textbook misquoted the source of one of the most important quotes. Yes. Yes. Uh Huh. No. She talked to you about it? mm... I will call you back." Dialing another number. "Hello? Is this Internal Affairs? Yes. I like to report..." Peagis wow great chapter I wonder why he think's Jag is dead???? I Guess we'll have to wait till the next chapter to find out eh??? You'll have to wait a bit longer than the next chapter. Cem's KO'd for a while. Princess_Melissa I'm glad you said Jag is not dead at the begining or I'd be really worried right now (despite the fact that you said this was going to be J/J) I almost didn't put the warning. Glad I did. Poor Cem. I really hope he gets to get his revenge on Khay Don. So does he. He swallowed hard, and shook his head, trying to clear it. “I hate needles.” Me too. (Because I hate the number twelve and this is chapter twelve. ..) Hope there are no major complaints about doing this. Chapter thirteen ”She killed him. She killed Jagged.” Cem’s words thundered through her head, and Jaina found herself wishing and praying that he wasn’t talking about Jagged Fel. At the same time the sinking, tight feeling in the pit of her stomach screamed that it was the same person. She moaned, softly at first. Then a sob wretched itself loose from her lips and she cried out in despair; the cry tapered off into another moan. And her face screwed up with the effort to restrain her emotions. Don’t cry. Be strong. Everyone always expected her to be strong and brave. She had always lived up to that expectation, hadn’t she? She remembered when Anakin had died – the pain she had been feeling – and yet she had somehow managed to let them escape from the deathtrap. She had . . . been strong and brave, even if later she had willingly embraced her inner darkness. People looked to her as a symbol of hope that good things could happen in the universe and - Bitterly she cut those thoughts short. If anything, she had been a disposable symbol – kidnapped multiple times, treated like she was some sort of snot-nosed brat, and ultimately, discarded when the Yuuzhan Vong struck. And now? Now she was less than a symbol. She wasn’t even a member of the prestigious Solo family – according to the majority of the members. Another sob slipped loose, and she tried to suppress it. Even if people didn’t believe she was Jaina Solo, she still was. She needed to live up to the expectations of those around her. She had no right to discard her responsibilities just because she had been discarded by everyone and everything important to her: her family, her friends . . . the Force . . . Then the absurdity of that thought assaulted her. She was 180 some klicks from civilization of any sort. Her body was exhausted and weak. She was bruised and thirsty and betrayed. She had no way of rescuing Cem – she couldn’t even rescue herself. They were in a desolate stretch of land. Alone. No one was there to see her cry. No one was there to watch her breakdown. No one cared if she broke down . . . And Jag. Her beloved Jagged . . . he was dead. She started moaning, softly at first, and then gaining intensity. She loved him. He was dead. She screamed, a short burst of sound. She cried, loud wracking sobs punctuated by pitiful moans. Her barriers crumbled, leaving her exposed to grief unlike anything she had ever felt before. She had always thought that losing Anakin was the worst thing that could ever happen to her. But eventually, family and friends had pulled her back from that. Losing Jagged – with so many words unspoken, so many feelings unvoiced – was worse. Her grief was streaked with guilt, it was complete and awful. Like a maw of blackness come to swallow her up, leaving nothing but an empty shell of a woman. And there was no one. No one who could help her now. ** She was dreaming. She was alone on a sandy beach, tranquility rushing is with every wave that broke gently on the shore. She could hear someone approaching from behind and felt herself smile. Strong arms enveloped her from behind. “Hey Jaina.” Jag’s voice. Clipped and precise, but filled with sweet emotion. She raised one hand, resting it against his forearm and leaning back into his arms. “Hey yourself, flyboy.” His body shook with silent laughter. “What happened to lover-boy?” Love. She licked her lips. “Jag Fel, I lo-“ But the sound of a speeder broke her words off. Jag drew a weapon. “Be careful.” Then there was a loud bang, and he staggered, falling against her motionless. “Jag?” she called out. Touching him gently. “Jag?” Still nothing. ”She killed him. She killed Jagged.” Her eyes snapped open in a blind panic. “Jag!” she screamed desperately. She pushed at the weight against her wildly and then remembered Cem passing out. It had just been a dream. “Calm down, Jay.” She twisted, eyes falling on a sandy robed, bearded man. Jacen. Slowly her twin brother lifted Cem, carrying the blond man back to a speeder, and laying him down in the back seat. Jaina shot to her feet, body tingling as circulation returned to parts of her body. “What are you –“ Jacen stepped back over toward her. “Relax, Jay. I’m here to help you.” She looked at him dubiously. He smiled a bit crookedly. “Trust me.” She wanted to. But she was afraid that if she did, she would get hurt again. She stole a glance at Cem’s unconscious form. For his sake, she had to trust Jacen. Not having a choice in the matter was always nice. It made decisions simple. She walked past him and slipped into the passenger seat of the speeder. “Don’t you want to drive?” Jacen asked. “My sister always fights to drive.” “Your sister,” Jaina said wearily. She snorted softly. “Your sister is exhausted. She can barely think past the haze of grief and pain racking her body.” She reclined the seat slightly and closed her eyes. “Your sister is here. I am your sister.” “Yes,” Jacen said simply, putting the speeder into gear and heading back to the Jedi Temple. “You are my sister.” At first his words didn’t register. Jaina had already turned away from trying to convince him of her identity. She was more worried about Cem, and whether he would be all right. Then his words hit her. “What did you say?” she asked. “I believe you.” “Y-you – you do?” she stammered. Jacen nodded solemnly. “Yes.” It was too good to be true, and suspicion tugged at Jaina’s heart. “Why?” Jacen took a moment to think about his answer and then said, “After the Vong War we were both restless. I went in search of a deeper understanding of the Force.” He pursed his lips, eyes focused on the ground in front of the speeder. “I hid myself away from our bond; I needed the time alone.” Jaina was silent. She knew that. Sort of. When the War had ended she had felt Jacen pulling away from her. She had known – as only a twin could know – that he had needed to sort things out on his own. But more than that, she had known that he would come back. She had felt him withdraw, and had known why he was doing it. Hell, she had felt the same way, hadn’t she? She’d wandered – maybe not hermit-style – but she had wandered. Except she hadn’t been searching for a greater understanding of the Force. She’d been searching for closure to her feelings for Jag. Jacen was still speaking. “When I returned you had changed. It was like you were an entirely new person.” He stole a quick, appraising glance at her. “And as it turns out, you were.” He reached across the seat and squeezed her shoulder lightly. “And for what it’s worth. I am sorry.” “Sorry? About what? Not believing me right away?” Jacen swallowed hard. “I’m sorry that I cut myself off from you. If I hadn’t done that . . . they wouldn’t have held you prisoner for six years. I –I know what it’s like to be with them. I’ve endured their torture before.” Jaina’s throat felt tight with the memory of her capture. Slowly she said, “You don’t have to apologize for that Jacen. When you were captured I didn’t rescue you.” “You thought I was dead,” Jacen said firmly. Jaina nodded. “True, but you thought that I was alive, free, and well.” The Jedi Temple came into view and Jacen maneuvered the speeder into a garage. Jacen twisted in his seat to look at his sister. “I still feel remorse for what I didn’t do for you.” Jaina hesitated and then slipped across the seat, embracing her brother in a simple hug. “What you’re doing for me now – believing in me – is all the apology that I need.” She wiped a few tears from her eyes, noting that the watery mist was being reflected in Jacen’s eyes. How long had it been since he cried? Something about the haunted look in his eyes said that he didn’t show trivial emotions anymore. She remembered waking up to him and Ben. Detached. That was the word that best suited Jacen. And now here he was, a foot away from her with tears brimming in his eyes. He was connected now, although admittedly the connection was frail at best. For the longest time, neither twin moved for fear of breaking the moment of connection. And then Jaina looked away, glancing at Cem’s unconscious form. “Cem’s hurt.” “Poisoned actually.” “Poisoned?” Jaina asked. “She poisoned him!” Jacen nodded, and Jaina flung open her speeder door. “Well? What are we waiting for? Let’s get him to Cighal.” Jacen laughed abruptly, a joyous burst of sound. “It’s been a long time since I heard you say that particular line.” He laughed again, years seemingly peeling off his face. “It makes me hungry for a gentler time in history – a time before the Vong.” He shook his head and got out of the speeder. -----signature----- Padawn to NYCitygurl I'm more Word Processor than human; Twisted by plot bunnies and feedback cravings! 	I'm glad Jacen rescued her and seems to believe her but something about her dream (maybe it's Jag warning her to be careful when he hears a speeder) is making me doubt him. 	Ok, Cem straddling Jaina is not a good thing, especially if she thinks that Jag's dead. Maybe she'll forget about it. Yay Jacen!! Woohoot!!! I was kind of hoping Kyp or Han would rescue, but Jacen was the better choice. And he believes her. If I was Khay Don I'd get the heck off of Ossus.
