RE: Warped (J/J, A/P) *Update March 16* Vong rip fabric of universe (past and EU char.)
Note: Jorj Car'das is an ex-smuggler / information broker (he started Karrade's oraganization). He's a major character in Outbound flight, but I have no idea where he is in the current timeline. As a result I decided he died near Borleais, just so I could bring him back where I wanted him.
Chapter eleven
Death Star, garbage chute
Han looked around, wrinkling his nose in disgust. “I’d say something about this wonderful smell –“
Chewie let out a tremendous roar and pounded on the door. “<This is not a wonderful smell!>”
Han turned to appraise the Wookie and his jaw dropped open. “Chewie?”
The Wookie roared, and Han picked his way through the garbage strewn muck to stand inches from him. He frowned, face puckering in confusion. “B-b-but you died . . .”
Chewie shook his head, and growled indignantly.
Han shook his head slowly. “No . . . I was there when it happened. You died on Serinpidal.” His voice got thick but he continued. “They pulled the moon down . . . you saved Anakin.”
“<Who’s Anakin?>” the Wookie rumbled.
“He is – was – my son,” Han said tightly. “He died –“
“<I thought you said I saved him,>” Chewie growled. He put one hand on Han’s head, moving the human back. “<Now stop fooling around; I want out of here.>”
Han looked at Leia. “Do you know what’s going on?”
Leia gave a small shrug. “Not really.”
Han shifted his attention to Padme. “Hey Queen, do you –“ Then his eyes widened as her finger tightened around the trigger, sending a bolt of red energy flying toward the door.
“Get down!” he bellowed as the shot started to ricochet wildly.

Naboo, Imperial HQ
Qui-gon rang the buzzer outside the Imperial base, and smiled pleasantly as an armored stormtrooper greeted him. “I need to speak with your leader.” To assure that his request didn’t take too long, he added a minute amount of Force Persuasion.
“You need to speak with my leader,” the stormtrooper repeated. He started into the base and Qui-gon followed him.
As they walked, Qui-gon contemplated the invasion force lurking over the planet. They had asked for Jaina by name, which he found very disturbing. Few Jedi off the Council gained much widespread recognition, and he would have hardly imagined that the conflicted brunette would be the type to receive much attention.
And yet, here was a sizable invasion fleet demanding that she be turned over. Either she had pissed someone off in charge or . . . But he couldn’t come up with an ‘or’.
“Tell me,” he said conversationally. “Have you ever heard of Jaina Solo?”
The stormtrooper glanced at him and shook his head. “No. Never.”
“Interesting.” Qui-gon commented. He suppressed a sigh. “Well, I shouldn’t be surprised.”
The stormtrooper was silent. Clearly he hadn’t been trained for conversation.
They came to a stop outside the command center. “Tell Commander Car’das that we have a visitor who needs to see him.”
Ossus, Jedi Temple
Luke could sense turmoil pouring off his wife. She was in mental pain of some sort. And Ben was in danger. He could sense this clearly. With Jedi-quick reflexes, he shot out of their room and toward the nursery.
There he found his wife, tears streaming from her emerald eyes, clutching Ben tightly to her chest.
“Mara!” he exclaimed. He reached for her and she recoiled in horror.
“Don’t touch me, Skywalker,” she snarled, the old hatred and malice for him flashing through her eyes.
Luke dropped his hand. “Mara, it’s me. It’s Luke.”
“I know who you are,” she hissed. “I’ll kill you.”
Luke’s blue eyes widened. “Mara what’s –“
But she was too far gone to respond. With hatred blazing, she dropped the child from her arms, igniting her lightsaber in one smooth motion.
**
Naboo, palace
“Majesty?” Jaina echoed the woman. She beetled her eyebrows, mouth twisting into a frown. But now wasn’t the time for - She shook that thought off. Now was a fine time for discovering what was going on. “My name is Jaina Solo.”
“No it’s not!” Nute Gunray said indignantly. “It’s Padme Amidala.”
The woman frowned. “I’m sure that the hall is not the place to discuss this.”
A tall black man stepped forward. “She’s right, Majesty.”
Jaina opened her mouth to protest, but the black man continued. “Regardless of what you may wish to say, the hall is not the place for a conversation. And we need the treaty.”
That she could agree with. Capturing the Nemodian had been a stroke of good fortune for her.
They ended up in the throne room, where Jaina could sense the lingering dark presence of the man who had taken her parents. That brought on a fresh surge of determination. She needed to end this conflict so she could rescue them.
Keeping the Viceroy at gunpoint she said, “You’ll command your fleet to change targets immediately.”
“Change targets?” the black man, the woman, and Gunray asked simultaneously.
“You’ll order all of your forces to cease fighting with the Imperials and Grand Army of the Republic. Instead you’ll have them concentrate all fire on the Yuuzhan Vong fleet that just came out of hyperspace.”
“Yuuzhan Vong?” the black man asked. “With all due respect, what are you talking about?”
These people are so isolated . . .
Jaina thought sadly. Aloud she said, “They’re invaders from outside our galaxy.”
“That’s impossible,” Gunray said. “This is just trickery to –“
“I have no reason to deceive you,” Jaina countered. For a second, her resolve wavered, and then she added a dark threat. “Now comply with my command, or I will kill you.”
The death threat tasted sour in her mouth, and the thought of actually killing the unarmed alien sickened her. She hid the sick feeling, gracing him with a cold, battle hardened look instead.
The Nemodian quailed. “Fine. Give me a comm, and I’ll relay your terms.”
Jaina handed him a comm. “If you try anything funny, I will kill you
slowly,
” she warned.
“This is completely not funny,” Nute Gunray assured her. “You have my word on that.” Into the comm he said, “Concentrate all firepower on the fleet that just came out of hyperspace.” Then, a disgusted look on his face, he passed the device back to Jaina.
As she took the comm, it occurred to him that he may have just ordered his blockade force to attack the Republic. “I’ll make sure everyone knows you forced me,” he warned. “If you try and pin this on –“
Jaina waved him down, flicking on the comm. “Commander Cody, I’ve captured the head of the CIS. He just commanded his forces to attack the Yuuzhan Vong. What’s the status with the Imperials?”
“Unstable. They’re pulling out of the fight and regrouping on the edges of the system.” A burst of static and then, “Shall we engage the enemy?”
Jaina glanced at the Nemodian. “In five minutes,” she said softly.
“Yes ma’am.” Commander Cody switched off his unit, leaving Jaina in near silence.
The self-proclaimed goddess took a deep breath. “Take me to your command vessel. I will be taking direct control of the battle.”
Nute Gunray’s eyes bugged. “You can’t do that. This is an outrage. The senate will hear about this.”
“Majesty, I must protest –“
Jaina held up one hand, stalling all comments. “I’m not your Queen. I suggest that you find where she is –“
“You look just like her,” the queen’s decoy said. She checked the gauge on her blaster and then looked back up. “With all respect, I’ll be accompanying you to the bridge of the enemy ship – if we can make it up there.”
“Sabe –“ the black man said.
“I’ll take care of her Captain Panaka. You wrap things up down here. If she isn’t Queen Amidala, we need to find her.”
“Sabe?” Jaina asked.
The young woman looked over at her. “Yes?”
“Your help will be appreciated,” Jaina said after a second. “But I’m not your queen. It may be better if you –“ But she broke off, sensing a groggy presence through the Force. A presence that was coming straight toward her with the intent of choking her!

Naboo, Imperial HQ
Jorj Car’das didn’t know how he had ended up in charge of the Imperial garrison. Or rather, he had no idea why the Imperials had accepted that he was their new commander after he had carefully shot and killed the previous man.
Even more perplexing was the situation in which the Imperial base had discovered itself in. Apparently he was on the planet Naboo, which was a far cry from Borleais, which was where he had been less than four hours ago.
Now there was a stern faced man standing a few feet away, claiming to be a Jedi. He didn’t have the look of the so-called New Jedi Order. In fact, if anything, he didn’t exactly match the profile of the Old Order either. He looked like a loner, the type of Jedi who could fit in during any time frame, and yet no time frame at all.
He’d introduced himself as Qui-gon Jinn, and was requesting a truce between Car’das’s commandeered Imperial Forces and the clonetroopers.
“How is it possible –“ Car’das began, but quickly cut himself off. A good portion of getting answers was asking the right questions, and right now he didn’t know the right questions.
“I do not know what is happening,” Qui-gon said, assuming that the question had something to do with the situation. “However, seeing as the planet is being attacked by beings intent upon malicious destruction, I believe that it would be in our best interests to form a coalition.”
Car’das waited the space of a heartbeat and then nodded. “Agreed.”
Qui-gon blinked. From the anxiety he had sensed in Jaina, he had expected this to be a much more intense confrontation.
Car’das was speaking. “Do any of your forces –“
“I command no army,” Qui-gon said. “I simply came to meditate a truce between you and Commander Cody of the Grand Army of the Republic. For specific questions, you will need to address him.”
“What a surprise. A Jedi that doesn’t automatically assume he knows best,” Car’das offered dryly.
Qui-gon smiled, eyes twinkling slightly. “May I inquire the name of the Jedi you had the honor of meeting?”
“Joraus C’baoth.”
“Well, he is an interesting individual,” Qui-gon acknowledged. “But his heart is in the right place.”
“Is?” Car’das said with a frown. He thought back to the death of the Jedi Master aboard Outbound Flight and his frown deepened. “Jedi Master C’baoth is dead.”
**
Naboo, Palace
Jaina reacted to the presence instantly. She dropped to the floor, grabbing the creature’s shirt and planting one foot in its stomach. Using the force of both the alien and her own drop, she flipped the creature over her head and stood up smoothly, drawing her blaster, setting it to stun, and –
“Wait!” Sabe said, imposing herself between the creature and Jaina. “It’s Jar Jar Binks. He’s on our side.”
Jaina bristled. “He was going to choke me. I sensed it.”
From his upside down position, Jar Jar said, “Mesa wasna gonna choke you. Mesa just gonna give you a happy-happy hug.”
Jaina’s eyes narrowed. “I don’t know you. I don’t want to be hugged by you.” She turned away from Jar Jar and back to Nute Gunray. “Signal your command vessel that it is about –“
“How could you no being remembering mesa again?”
Jaina ignored him, continuing her orders to the captured Viceroy. “ – about to be boarded. If you have a shuttle planet side, we will be –“
“Hey! Mesa talking to you-“
Jaina whirled. “Quiet,” she ordered.
Jar Jar stared at her, a mixture of hurt and confusion in his eyes. “Why is yousa being so mean?”
Because I’m not a nice person,
Jaina thought. Aloud she said. “Deal with it.”
She turned back to the Viceroy only to get hit with something wet and sticky from behind. Slowly, she turned to face the Gungan. “Did you just hit me with your tongue?”
Jar Jar looked around innocently. “Uhmm. . . Lookie, lookie at the pretty . . . uhmm. . . wall,” he said and grinned sheepishly.
Jaina narrowed her eyes, but turned away from him. She was pulling away from the Dark Side, not drawing closer to it. Still, the anger and frustration she felt at his tongue touching her was very real.
Not to mention the fury she still felt at Jag and the woman kissing.
Maybe Qui-gon was right. Maybe she was flirting with the Dark Side. “Sabe, Panaka, will you be accompanying me to the Trade Federation battleship?”
Captain Panaka gave her a sharp look. “Of course. Knowing the Nemodians they’ll try and kill you the second you get on board.”
**
Naboo, Trade Federation ship
Nute Gunray watched her issuing commands from
his
command deck and glowered at her darkly. This was an outrage, and he would not tolerate it a second longer.
For a second he was glad that there were no Jedi on board. If there were, they might get an inkling of the attack he had planned to kill Amidala. And he was going to kill her. The blockade had failed and there was nothing left to salvage.
Nothing except his pride.
He slipped the small holdout blaster from the armrest of the chair and smiled with his thin lips. Then he drew the weapon fully, aimed it at the young queen and pulled the trigger.

I love how you make so many things happen at once, but barely have much happen at all.
IT'S AMAZING!
“<I thought you said I saved him,>” Chewie growled. He put one hand on Han’s head, moving the human back. “<Now stop fooling around; I want out of here.>”
poor Chewie. He's gonna want to throw Han in some psychiatric ward now
The stormtrooper was silent. Clearly he hadn’t been trained for conversation.
I just thought that was funny. I don't know why but it was
Luke dropped his hand. “Mara, it’s me. It’s Luke.”
“I know who you are,” she hissed. “I’ll kill you.”
I have a bad feeling about that
Jaina handed him a comm. “If you try anything funny, I will kill you slowly,” she warned.
still flirting with the Dark Side, eh?
A presence that was coming straight toward her with the intent of choking her!
I thought it was like Palpatine or someone extreme like that. Jar Jar never even crossed my mind!!
Another great update. Each new post gets me excited

more greatness!
Jar-JAr's tongue action was funny, as was Qui-Gon's interaction with the storm trooper...
as for Nute, that I have to actually laugh at. He thinks there's not a Jedi on board...

He's still alive in the current timeline, actually.
Good chapter though. I hope Jaina turns to the dark side and kills Jar Jar, painfully

Show what I know.
He's dead for Warped's timeline now.

He already threw him in the garbage chute . . .

Hmmm. It must be the stormtroopers lack of talent for anything that they're not trained for.

And another wonderfully packed post.
Jaina certainly is flirting with the Dark Side again... and her reaction to Jar-Jar trying to hug her
I would think the same thing.
It looks as though Qui-Gon's job to unite the Imperials and Republic army went smoothly so far.
Nute Gunray is in for it... no Jedi, ha.
I hope that Luke can get back through to Mara, because she did not like being controlled by Palpatine (at least in retrospect)

You have to admit that Jar Jar is scarier than most Sith in most respects. That means drastic responses are permitted.

Thank-you. That quote (which is in a later chapter) is the reason I started this fic in the first place.

Okay, since this is chapter twelve, and I despise that number
I'm going to be adding a second update in a couple of hours.
Chapter twelve
Coruscant, Jedi Temple
With the battle raging outside, Tahiri and Shak Ti made their way to the Jedi nursery.
“My gosh!” Tahiri said, staring at the neat rows of cribs. “I never knew the old Jedi were cradle robbers. I mean, I knew they started training students pretty young, but how do you even know if any of them want to be Jedi?”
Shak Ti glanced at her. “The children’s parents usually bring them in for testing. If they test positive, they are trained –“
“Still sounds like cradle robbing to me,” Tahiri said. She picked up the nearest baby, and scrunched her face up at it. In response the baby gave a small gurgle, causing the blond Jedi to smile.
It occurred to her, with a wave of pain roiling outward from her heart, that
she
would never have children. She would never hold a giggling, tiny baby. “Too bad Anakin died,” she said flippantly, as if trivializing things would make her hurt less.
Even as the words left her mouth, the baby started to cry.
“Hey! What’s wrong with it?” she asked, green eyes widening.
Shak Ti gently removed the baby from her arms, quieting it with a few gentle strokes. “You’re projecting a smothering blanket of hurt and loneliness. She simply picked it up with her Force-powers.”
“She must be really powerful,” Tahiri responded.
“No,” Shak Ti said. “She only has moderate Force-sensitivity.”
“Then how –“
“You have poor control over the Force,” Shak Ti responded.
“What?” Tahiri asked in surprise. “That can’t be true –“
“Of course it is,” Shak Ti said. “Tell me, did you ever even complete your training?”
“Of course –“ Tahiri started.
“Then you had a knighting ceremony? Passed your trials?”
“We don’t have trials,” Tahiri said stoutly. She scratched the side of her nose lightly. “And the Yuuzhan Vong captured Yavin 4 before I was knighted.”
“You can be a better Jedi,” Shak Ti said. She paused, searching for the right words. “Right now you are heartbroken and mentally fractured. That needs to be healed before you can move on. Before you can grow.”
Tahiri didn’t respond. Instead she stared silently at the child as the Jedi Master laid it down.
“This has been happening more and more lately,” Shak Ti continued. “Jedi training is not something to be completed easily. The rank of Knight is something that can take decades upon decades of training before it is attained. And even then, Knights are often paired with Masters so that they may continue to have someone to guide them along the path of a Jedi.”
She bowed her head. “I pity that you have not had such a student / teacher relationship. I sense a great deal of potential in you, but most of it is untapped, and there is much resentment.”
“There’s nothing that can be done about,” Tahiri said. She flipped her hair and looked around. “Anyway, the Yuuzhan Vong are going to tear through this nursery mercilessly.”
“We will stop them.”
“Impossible,” Tahiri said softly. “But I hope that you’re right.”

Coruscant, Lower Levels
Signs of violent death abounded. Here and there, a shattered skeleton, picked clean by scavengers, lay immobile. And the foul scent of death was everywhere. More then that, traces of recent Yuuzhan Vong activities were visible.
“We’ll have to be careful,” Cherith said.
“Agreed,” Siri answered. She looked around carefully, trying to pick the best route to the Jedi Temple’s lower level entrance. Unfortunately, without most of the visual cues she had come to rely on, it wasn’t easy. Silently she bit the inside of her lip.
“Are we lost?” Valin asked abruptly. “Or do you still know where we’re going Master Tachi?”
“Valin Horn it is the epitome of bad manners to –“
Siri held up one hand, stalling Cherith’s reprimand. “He brings up a valid point, and I can tell that he doesn’t mean any ill-will in his phrasing.”
“It’s still bad manners,” Cherith said softly.
Valin had the grace to blush. “Sorry, I didn’t mean it to come off that way –“
“Then perhaps you should think before you speak,” Cherith responded. She lifted her chin slightly, focusing on Siri. “Master Tachi, what exactly are we looking for?”
“See if you can find a building number still attached to a building.”
“Which number are we looking for?” Valin asked.
“Any. We only need to orientate right now,” Cherith answered. She started to the left, drawing her charric. “I’ll search over here.”
Valin suppressed a sigh. “I sound like an idiot, don’t I?” he murmured, watching Cherith’s slight form maneuver away from him and Siri.
He meant the comment for himself only, but Siri heard. “A Jedi is not to know anger or fear or love,” she said softly. “Come Padawan Horn, we must keep moving.”
Valin looked startled. “Wait? We’re splitting up? Will she be –“
“We’re meeting back here,” Siri answered.
Valin narrowed his dark eyes. “When was that decided?”
“It was understood,” Siri answered. “I could tell that she intended to come back, and she could tell that I understood.”
Valin glanced back toward the spot where Cherith had vanished. “Is she a Jedi –“
“I’m surprised that you have to ask,” Siri responded. She started a more careful search, stopping by walls that normally would have building numbers on them and scrapping away the moss with a scavenged piece of metal.
Valin started helping, but neither his mind nor his heart were in it. He hadn’t known Cherith for very long, but he felt mollified by her apparent lack of interest in him. More then that, he couldn’t quite understand what was so interesting about her.
Up to this point he had thought girls were pretty strange in general, and except for his Force-training he hadn’t tried very much to understand or impress them. And now . . . He sighed. Women and girls were impossible to understand.
“A Jedi is not to know anger or fear or love,” Siri repeated.
This time Valin paid a bit more attention. “There’s nothing wrong with love,” he said. “Lot’s of Jedi get married and have –“
“That’s wrong!” Siri exclaimed. “Name one Jedi you know who has gotten married.”
There was something defensive and yet hopeful about her protest and demand. Still, her reaction reaffirmed what Valin had just learned: girls were impossible to understand.
He rubbed his chin thoughtfully. “Well there’s my dad for one –“
“Your dad?”
“Yep. Corran Horn.”
“So you’ve been raised to believe that this breech of protocol is acceptable?” Siri asked, shaking her head. “I can hardly believe it.” She returned to her search for a building number and added, “You must be careful not to mistake an irregularity for the reality of the Order.”
“My dad isn’t an irregularity,” Valin said indignantly.
“To my knowledge the only Jedi who is married is Master Ki-adi-mundi – and that is only under extenuating circumstances.”
“Well I know a whole bunch,” Valin responded. “Master Skywalker and his wife; Master Solusor and Tionne; Leia and Han Solo . . .” his voice trailed off. “And there are loads of others who are simply dating and stuff like that.”
Siri looked flabbergasted. “T-t-that can’t be.”
Before Valin could respond, the Jedi Master recovered herself. “A Jedi should not know anger or fear or love,” she repeated. “Love leads to attachment; attachment leads to a fear of loss or rejection; fear leads to anger; anger –“
“Leads to the dark side, I know,” Valin said. “But you know, with so many people attached and loving only a few Jedi has headed down the Dark Side Path.”
“Don’t question me on this Padawan Horn,” Siri said. “There are rules in the Order that are in place with the best interests of the Jedi at heart.”
Valin shrugged. “I won’t argue if you don’t want, but
you
should be more open to new ideas. Simply seeing things in one light leads to the standard man problem – and starts making you see yourself as better than everyone else.”
“That is a valid point.”
Valin looked surprised and slightly pleased that she had conceded the point.
“When we are back at the Temple, we should continue with this discussion,” Siri added.
“Sure,” Valin answered.

Tatoonie, Watto’s shop
Anakin Skywalker and his mother. I know them both.
“Tell me more,” Jacen commanded, but the Toydarian had already left the room. For a second, the Jedi debated going back and forcing him to explain the situation better; however, practicality told him that it wouldn’t do any good.
He still needed to find some shelter for the duration of the storm – and to avoid the Yuuzhan Vong pursuit he had picked up. And then there was the group of ‘stormtroopers’ who had chased him halfway around Mos Espa attempting to carry out Order 66. Jacen figured they were with the Peace Brigade.
He turned to step back into the street and came face to face with his mother’s eyes. “Mom?” he asked before he could stop himself.
The woman blinked at him. “I’m sorry?”
Jacen grimaced. “Sorry, you kind of look like my mom.”
He made to move past her, but hesitated at the door, turning slowly. There was a chance that the resemblance was nothing more than a coincidence, but . . . “Are you Skywalker?” he asked, turning back to look at her.
“I’m Shmi Skywalker,” the woman replied. Her eyes slipped from his face to his belt, lingering on his lightsaber and she rang her hands nervously. “Do you know something about . . .”
“Shmi Skywalker,” Jacen repeated. He licked his lips and plunged ahead. “Do you know Luke Skywalker?”
She shook her head. “No. I can’t say that I do.”
“He’s got sandy blond hair and blue eyes –“
“I don’t know who you’re talking about. Unless . . . do you mean Anakin?”
“Do you have a son named Anakin Skywalker?”
She nodded nervously. “Is he all right?”
“He’s dead,” Jacen said without thinking.
In response, Shmi fainted.
Coruscant, Jedi Temple, exterior
It was hard to believe that an infestation of Jedi had managed to suddenly appear, and so Mon Tsup had slipped away from his post to see if it was true. Now his eyes widened at the battle taking place.
There were
jeedai
, he thought, a thrill running through him. And they didn’t appear to be the usual run of the mill variety either. They were cutting through the Yuuzhan Vong with ease.
Especially the short, old green one and the tall black one.
And Mon Tsup knew in his Shamed heart that they had come to liberate his caste from oppression. They had come to save him and others like him. And to that effect, he needed to alert the others.
The time had come. They would revolt against their Masters, and be shamed no long.

RE: Warped (J/J, A/P) *Update March 20* Vong rip fabric of universe (past and EU char.)
I love the bantering between Valin and Siri.
Valin may want to tell her what time he's from
Shak Ti is awesome. I think she and Tahiri would make an interesting Master-Padawan team. They're honest with each other. and Shak Ti has a point, especially since after Tahiri's Shaping & Anakin's death, her emotions are all psychotic.
Jacen needs to learn when to not open his big mouth
