SWpants666 I love the bantering between Valin and Siri. Valin may want to tell her what time he's from Poor Valin. He hasn't got a clue. As far as he's concerned, Siri is from his time. Shak Ti is awesome. I think she and Tahiri would make an interesting Master-Padawan team. They're honest with each other. and Shak Ti has a point, especially since after Tahiri's Shaping & Anakin's death, her emotions are all psychotic. Shak Ti = She was my favorite minor character Jedi. I loved her performance in the animated 'Clone Wars'. She fought really good. Jacen needs to learn when to not open his big mouth He's a bit careless, isn't he? woot! Go Yoda & Mace! 	Here's chapter thirteen. Enjoy. ::hint of things to come:: Chapter thirteen, Problems Hyperspace, Divine Fist, on route to Coruscant “I’m gonna find you. And then I’m gonna kiss you. Everywhere!” With the last word, Tiffany flung herself around the corner and into Cem Flare’s arms. Instantly she recoiled. “You’re not Jaggie-poo, where is he?” “Hiding from you. Probably.” Cem pushed past her and into the small lounge. “Check the engine compartment,” he called over his shoulder. That ought to keep her busy for a while, he thought. He sat down across from one of the Jedi passengers, giving him an appraising look. According to Jag, this was the more irritating of the two: Anakin Skywalker. Skywalker was currently engaged in what could – under the most liberal interpretation – be considered a civil conversation. Of course, considering that he was talking with Shawnkyr, Cem wasn’t surprised. His own conversations with the blue skinned Chiss didn’t go much better. The topic, he noted, was Jedi. “Jedi want to be heroes,” Shawnkyr said flatly. “And to that end they go forth like a swarm without purpose or direction. They kick and squirm to involve themselves in any and all crisis’s even if common sense dictates that they –“ “We have the power to do good in the galaxy,” Anakin said, cutting her off. “As a Jedi, we have obligations to –“ “Causing trouble and meddling,” Shawnkyr said. “I hardly think that is the true ‘will’ of the force.” Anakin’s cheek twitched. “How could you know? You’re as Force-blind as a Bantha.” “Tell me,” Cem said, jumping into the conversation before Shawnkyr could adequately express her feelings on being compared to a Bantha. “What’s more important to you? Stopping politicians from dealing with pirates or aiding in refugees who need crops grown?” “The Jedi help both,” Anakin said firmly. “I didn’t ask about the Jedi, I asked about you,” Cem said. He crossed his arms, adopting a casual posture. “Which would you rather do?” “Stop the pirates –“ “That’s called playing hero!” Shawnkyr exclaimed. “And you can’t tell me that you know more than a dozen of your Jedi-companions who would rather help starving refugees.” “The pirates present a direct threat to a weaker group of people. A Jedi must always defend the weak.” “The way I see it,” Cem said, “Both groups of people are in similar peril. The difference is that the pirate victims have the means to fight back. Refugees are helpless in that they have nothing.” “So by playing the hero you cut money from the pockets of a few politicians and inconvenience a few pirates. And in the meantime the refugees are dying of starvation.” Anakin frowned, not liking Cem’s reasoning. “A Jedi must do what he or she feels is the right thing to do.” “People are fallible,” Shawnkyr said. “Not the Jedi,” Anakin said firmly. “We’re better than that. We can and will find a way –“ Cem and Shawnkyr’s laughter stole the rest of his statement away. “If that were true, then the Jedi wouldn’t have been eradicated from the galaxy.” “If that were true, the galaxy would not have turned its collective back on the Jedi in the face of Yuuzhan Vong threats,” Shawnkyr added. “If that were true,” Cem added with great mirth, “I’d eat Jagged’s left index finger.” At that moment, the door whooshed open and Jag walked in. His intense green eyes flickered over his brother. “What are you talking about?” he asked, left hand twitching just barely. “Heroism,” Shawnkyr supplied. Jag looked directly at Anakin, “I have a bit of friendly advice on the topic,” he said crisply. “If you want, I’m willing to share.” He took a seat at the card table and started shuffling a deck of cards. Anakin took the seat across from him. “Go ahead.” Jag met his eyes firmly. “Heroism is the epitome of stupidity. It is reserved for fools and idealists, with the focus heavy on fools. If you want to be a hero, you are practically begging to be labeled as stupid.” “Are you calling me stupid?” “Do you consider yourself a hero?” Jag countered without really answering the question. Jag looked calm and maybe a bit smug, and it was more than Anakin could take. He hated being insulted by the pilot. He was anxious and tense because he didn’t know where Padme was. Then, in addition, Jag’s team was equally insulting. He wanted to knock the ‘all-knowing’ look off of Jag’s face. So he lunged forward, intent on attempting it. ** Divine Fist, Obi-wan’s cabin “Do I have the Force?” Obi-wan looked up, startled to see Wyn waiting outside the refresher door. “I don’t know.” “Could you find out?” “Well, I suppose I could test you, but it wouldn’t matter.” “Why not?” “Well,” Obi-wan explained, “It’s against the Jedi Code to train students after they have attained a certain age.” “I’m eighteen-ish,” Wyn supplied. “Is that too old?” Obi-wan nodded firmly. “Much too old. The typical age is closer to eight –“ “Years?” “Months.” “Oh.” Why sucked her lip into her mouth. “My dad wouldn’t like me being a Jedi anyway. He thinks you’re all a bunch of arrogant poodoo brains – my words, not his. He’s too cultured and disciplined to say something like that. But he thinks it.” Obi-wan appeared to be at a loss for words in response to that statement. Wyn sighed, clearly recognizing that she had effectively killed that topic. “Have you divined what happened – you know, that disturbance you felt? Have you decided what it is yet?” Obi-wan steepled his fingers. “I have not. The galaxy is . . . different. I hardly sense anything familiar.” “What is familiar?” Wyn asked. She stepped closer to him, and Obi-wan caught the subtle hint of some sort of exotic perfume. Her lips, he also noticed were painted a near-natural rose color, making them look just a bit fuller. He stepped back, nervous at her attention. She liked him. That much was obvious. And she was flirting with him, more or less. The problem was he couldn’t tell if this was just her regular personality, or if there was something about him that was catching her attention. “Well,” he said, crossing his arms and looking at her evenly. “When we were fighting over Coruscant, I could sense a lingering wrongness in the Force. A distant dark presence. It is still out there somewhere.” “It’s probably Palpatine,” Wyn said suddenly. “I’ll bet you anything it’s him.” “Chancellor Palpatine?” Obi-wan asked in surprise, quirking one eyebrow. “What exactly do you mean by that?” “Well, you know, don’t you?” “Know what?” “About him dissolving the Republic Senate and declaring himself Emperor,” Wyn said. She watched surprise flicker through his eyes and sighed. “He was a Sith; a dark Jedi.” “I know what a Sith is,” Obi-wan said, a hollow feeling in the pit of his stomach. Was it possible that Palpatine was the Sith Lord who had caused so much turmoil and destruction in the galaxy? He thought back to his initial conversation with Jagged Fel and Shawnkyr. They had mentioned that Anakin had been known as Darth Vader. Darth was a Sith title. Anakin spent an abnormal amount of time around Palpatine. And Palpatine seemed to have an abnormal amount of interest in Anakin. He took a long, deep breath. “Tell me about Darth Vader.” Wyn blinked, thrown by what she had to see as an abrupt change of topic. “What’s there to tell?” “Start somewhere,” Obi-wan murmured. “Okay . . . you know that dope you have traveling with you – the one with the bad temper.” She twirled a strand of her blond hair and looked at him expectantly. “Anakin,” Obi-wan supplied, his heart sinking lower in his stomach. He had a bad feeling about this. “Yeah, well before you guys showed up in the Deathdealer’s battle, he had reigned over the galaxy as old Palpy’s right hand man.” Obi-wan closed his eyes, body growing still. “As a Sith Lord.” Wyn shrugged. “That’s how the history vids tell the story. Here,” she added, snapping open a datapad and sifting through some information, “I got a good shot of him.” Obi-wan looked, staring into the imposing black helmeted figure. “That’s Anakin?” he asked. “Why the mask? Was he ashamed of –“ “Nope. He couldn’t breathe on his own. He needed a respirator, and all of his limbs were prosthetic.” “What happened?” “I don’t know,” Wyn said truthfully. “He didn’t exactly talk about it, and no one really knew who he was either. It was only after he died that people discovered who he was.” “He died a Sith?” Obi-wan asked. Wyn furrowed her brow, mentally berating herself for not paying super attention in history class. “No, I don’t think so.” Her face cleared. “Jag would know for sure. Let’s go talk to him.” She bounded toward the door, and Obi-wan followed. Right outside the lounge, he caught her elbow. “Let me ask the questions. We don’t want to upset anyone.” Wyn gave him a practiced innocent look. “I wouldn’t dream of upsetting anyone. I’m a good girl.” ** Divine Fist, lounge As they entered the room, Obi-wan could tell there was a problem already. Jagged Fel had the beginnings of a purple bruise on his left cheek and Shawnkyr had Anakin kissing the floor, her knee digging into his back while Cem had a charric aimed at his head. “Everyone calm down,” he said. Jag touched his fingers to his cheek, seeming to be shocked that the Jedi had actually struck him. However, he could see the potential danger the situation represented. “Let him up,” he ordered. “Cem holster your weapon. Shawnkyr moved back slowly. Jedi Skywalker, you may get up whenever you feel like it.” “Sir!” Shawnkyr growled reluctantly and moved back, body still tensed to fight. “Yessir,” Cem said with equal reluctance. He holstered his charric and stepped back, his hand remaining on the weapon. “Calmly Anakin,” Obi-wan cautioned. In response, the muscular blue eyed Jedi got to his feet, glaring first at Jag and then at Shawnkyr and Cem. “What happened?” Obi-wan inquired. Silence met his inquiry. He turned his gaze to Anakin. “Well?” he prompted. Anakin opened his mouth, struggling to find the right words. Saying he lost his temper and wanted to wipe Jag’s smugness off of his face wouldn’t pacify his master in the least. “It was a minor problem,” Jag said. “It can hardly be his fault.” Anakin balked in surprise. What’s he talking about? “I was testing a theory,” Jag continued. “Which would be what exactly?” Obi-wan asked. “I needed to test Jedi Skywalker’s battle objectivity,” Jag said simply. “I found it lacking.” His green eyes swept across Anakin. “You are ruled by emotions. In battle your lack of calm will be your downfall.” “I got you,” Anakin retorted. Jag inclined his head. “Yes, congratulations. You attacked one of your allies and nearly got killed by two others. That was a brilliant attack plan.” Anakin’s real hand tightened into a painful fist. “You just have to get the last word in, don’t you?” he snarled. He wanted to attack again – this time making sure that Cem and Shawnkyr wouldn’t interfere. Unfortunately, judging by the disappointed and concerned look on Obi-wan’s face, there was going to be trouble if he tried that. Jag was speaking. “I don’t need the last word; however, I feel that it is my responsibility to explain my actions.” Obi-wan sighed. “I would ask you not to do that again, Captain Fel.” “There’s no need. I’ve already learned everything about Jedi Skywalker’s battle mentality. I do not need to learn my lessons twice.” Before anyone could respond to that, a loud clunking noise filled the air. “What was that?” Cem asked, a frown touching his forehead. “I smell smoke,” Shawnkyr said softly. 	Just finished catching up. I must say AWSOME FIC!!! this is so ingenious! My mom came in the computer room and thought I was going crazy because I was laughing so hard and periodically saying 'uh-oh' (like when Mara fell under the Emperor's power) As for Tifanny - Jaina needs to come back and wiper the floor with her sorry behind. 	Two updates in one day!!! what could be better!!! I loved the interactions between Jag and Anakin, Jag's quick evaluation of Anakin's battle focus. Jacen needs to watch what he says... that was a rather harsh way to break it to Shmi that her son is dead I'm glad that Obi-Wan finally started thinking about Anakin being called Darth Vader, and what did tiffany do to the engines???
