Huh?

My opinion, not Luke's! wink

Two hundred thousand Sailor Senshi and Tuxedo Guardians, along with close to a million Jedi Knights and Masters, kept things from getting out of control.

Wow... with those numbers, there's almost nobody LEFT to cause trouble!

Zekk let out a chuckle. “Don’t worry, Jaina. I stopped counting ‘greats’ about eight hundred years ago.”

*nods* Smart man.

Zeth shrugged. “Dean Urawa has lived through much of what she’s teaching, so she peppers her speeches with weird anecdotes and asides.”

Hee! Her class would be so cool! grin

Noogie alert! Aww! They're so cute!

The Dominion has stated that it will attempt another invasion, and there are others.”

Striker, you are king of the crossovers!

Mua-ha-haa! Darth Calaveras rears her head! Bwa-hahaha! devil

It's back to the future! Up!!!

Nice little nod to Usagi's Americanized name there.

Looks like things have generally turned out for the better, I think. That's good, though I still think there's a certain force from outside the galaxy on its way to cause trouble, if you know what I mean. wink

Ah yes. Nothing like good ole` TK. I hope they have a pleasant honeymoon (though why I keep thinking 'there's going to be an assassination attempt' is beyond me).

Anyway, keep up the good work, Jon. Short arc, but I'll treat it like a OVA one-shot. wink

SSM12-Well, glad to be updating again. wink And glad you like the children. I tried to make each one distinct, while still taking after their parents.

Lady_Jade-Thanks. happy I semi-based Serena on stereotypical Usagi. And hmm, I hope you like this arc too. wink

Ish-Thanks. Good thing I was able to balance the two out, there.

Jaded_Girl-Oh, okay. There's always someone to cause trouble, hence a need for Senshi and Jedi. Zekk's very smart, yes. *Adjusts crown* And yeah, Darth Calaveras arrives!

Mac-LOL, glad you caught that little bit there. That force from outside the galaxy will probably be showing up sooner than you think, timeline wise. wink Not sure why you think there'll be an assassination attempt... who'd be dumb/crazy enough to try? And lol on the OVA. Here's another OVA.

This ends Part Six: Memories of a Time Gone By. Part Seven: Reforging of the Sith? The Rebirth of Earth and Alderaan! begins next week!

Here we go!

*****
25,500 years before the Battle of Yavin
Keope Tumu looked out the window and gasped at the bright colors beyond the transparisteel. She had been in hyperspace many times, but the thrill of actually traveling faster than light never escaped her. The reddish blur danced in her brown eyes, and she wondered once more how it was all possible to adapt the Celestial‘s technology like this.

The YT-10 Corellian freighter Decade of Peace was little more than an airtight tube with engines on the stern, a cockpit on the bow and three rail gun emplacements amidships. Keope looked over and observed her fellow passengers for a moment.

A serious-looking woman clomped over in her leather boots and took off her war helmet. Vipim Le Fuku looked up and down Keope before saying, “You will not be ready for Xim.”

Keope’s mouth dropped open at Vipim Le’s rather harsh assessment. “Why won’t I be ready?”

Vipim Le shrugged. “You are daydreaming instead of helping us plan for the attack.” She stepped aside and motioned to a table set up in the middle of the room. Keope rose and followed Vipim Le over.

Five other women sat around the table-priestesses charged with the task of tracking down Xim the Despot, tyrant of the galaxy. Each one commanded a facet of power. When at peace, they could move objects with their minds or fire off energy bursts. None of them truly understood the full extent of this force, but they were the only hope to defeat Xim, for he too controlled similar powers.

The eldest woman, a fiery redhead in her thirties, looked up at Keope with jade eyes. “It’s nice of you to join us,” Nese Emerald said flippantly.

Keope smoothed the brown robes she wore and sat down. “Sorry. Hyperspace just fascinates us Corellians.”

At that, the redhead let a smile play over her lips. “Just don’t wander off when Xim’s blasting us with one of those telekinetic pulses of his.” Her face resumed a serious expression. “All right. We’ll be arriving at Tatooine in two hours.” Her eyes went to one of the other priestesses. “Vejoso, do you know what sort of resistance your people have been putting up?”

Vejoso Wiome, a young girl of only twelve, stood up. Normally you couldn’t get her to stop talking. Today, however, the young priestess of the Ghorfa was quite taciturn. “I don’t know,” she finally squeaked out, her nose and whiskers twitching in equal parts nervousness and despair. She adjusted her breathing mask and continued. “Xim’s powers are far beyond anything my people have seen before.”

The young girl looked down at the redhead. “So, Nese, do you have any idea what to do?”

Nese , high priestess of the Thirteen Battalions of Zhell on Coruscant, pursed her lips and shook her head. “I say we just hit him hard and fast.” She looked around. “Does anyone have any other ideas?”

A silver-haired woman in full combat armor raised her hand. “We should first do some reconnaissance and get information. That’s the only way we’ll defeat Xim.”

Nese rolled her green eyes and sighed. It was typical of Vouppi to want to gather information first; such a bookworm! Before Nese could speak, one of the younger women spoke up. “Recon? Are you nuts? We already know what this psycho’s capable of.”

Vouppi looked over at Teppej of Yavin VIII when she finished her little speech. “Are you done, now?”

Teppej nodded, bouncing her curly brown hair up and down. “Yeah. And you know I‘m right. He has to be taken down hard.”

Nese sighed. Both Vouppi and Teppej had a point. “We’ll just see when we get there on how to proceed,” she finally stated.

All seven females suddenly looked to the end of the cabin as a hatch opened up, allowing two men to enter the cabin. Brothers Lucas and Handel looked over the women. “Hey, sweethearts. We’ll be at Tatooine soon,” Handel said.

Nese rolled her eyes. “We know, nerf-herder.”

Lucas chuckled, but Handel swatted his younger brother upside the head. Despite herself, Nese let out a titter of laughter at the two men. She rose to her feet and walked over to Lucas. “You know, you’re kinda cute,” she said, running a finger along Lucas’ jaw line.

The Alderaanian farmer and pilot felt a surge of electricity at her touch, and Nese felt it as well. “So, what are you doing after this little mission?”

Lucas swallowed in nervousness. “Well…I was planning on going back to my farm on Alderaan.”

Nese licked her tongue over her ruby-red lips and leaned forward right up to Lucas’ right ear. “I have something…better in mind,” she whispered. By now, Lucas’ brow was covered in sweat, and his short blond hair was looking a bit matted down as well.

Handel abruptly wrapped his arm around his brother’s shoulders and guided him back to the hatch. “We’ll see you ladies later,” he said before closing the hatch.

Keope leaned over to Vipim Le. “And I’m not keeping my mind on the mission?”

Vipim Le’s gray eyes seemed to frost over as she regarded her slightly younger colleague. “You are not keeping your mind on the mission, and that is the correct information.” She shifted her body around and looked up at Nese, who was still standing at the hatch. “Then again, she does not have her full attention on the mission. And that too is the correct information.”

Chapter Two: Death of Tatooine
Two hours later
The Decade of Peace exited hyperspace and the hyperdrive ring attached to the main hull detached, taking up station-keeping in far orbit.

Nese and Vejoso stood behind Lucas as he made course corrections. Vejoso’s green eyes looked out the viewport. “Where’s Tatooine?” she asked.

Nese looked over Lucas’ shoulder at the instrument panel. She had a growing sense of unease. Something’s wrong, she thought. She plastered a smile on her face and looked down at Vejoso. “Everything’s gonna be fine,” she said, closing her eyes and chuckling slightly.

The young girl adjusted the strap holding her breathing mask to her mouth and scowled. “I’m tougher than I look, Nese.”

Handel checked the engines and course. “We’ll be able to see Tatooine in a minute,” he said. He looked over his shoulder at Vejoso with his dark brown eyes and smiled roguishly at her. “Don’t worry, kid. Xim’s probably in some detention-“ He stopped speaking as Tatooine came into view.

The Decade of Peace’s course took it over the northern hemisphere and would normally offer a spectacular view of Beggar’s Ocean, the largest and newest inland body of water. The northern rain forests could also be spotted from this angle, recently reseeded after the Rakata had burnt the planet.

Instead, four pairs of eyes saw fire and smoke, ash and cinder. Beggar’s Sea was gone. The seabed was exposed and not a trace of water remained in the bedrock. Vejoso’s mouth dropped open in shock and she whimpered slightly. “No…”

Lucas bowed his head and said a prayer for the inhabitants of Tatooine. Handel and Nese, meanwhile, narrowed their eyes and set their faces into a grim look. “Let’s go,” Handel growled.

Lucas glanced at his brother before pushing the control stick forward, sending the freighter into Tatooine’s atmosphere. The planet grew in the viewport, quickly encompassing the entire viewport. The Decade of Peace sped through gray clouds of soot and ash and was buffeted by updrafts and turbulence caused by the planet-wide fires. Lucas guided the Decade through the storms with a practiced hand, and Nese felt…something from him.

Before she could contemplate further on this, Lucas spoke up. “Do you have any idea where we’re supposed to go?”

Nese half-closed her eyes and reached out with her senses. She felt snatches of pain and death all around her, and she also felt an all-encompassing darkness. It was a pit of evil, sucking all light and good into its maw. She leaned over Handel’s shoulder and typed in a series of coordinates. “He’s there,” she said. “That’s where you’ll find Xim.”

Handel checked the numbers. “That’s right in the middle of the Dune Sea,” he stated.

Vejoso shook her head. “It’s not a sea any longer, sir.”

The freighter sped over the planet, eventually coming upon a shoreline. Instead of water at the edge, all that was left was bone-dry bedrock and dead marine life. A man in black armor stood right in the middle of the Dune Sea. His long, blond hair whipped around him and lightning danced from his fingertips. He was known by one name; Xim the Despot, tyrant of the galaxy.

The Decade of Peace landed two kilometers away from him. Nese and Vejoso returned to the main cabin as everyone made final preparations. Vouppi swung a large sword about while Keope was rummaged through pockets lining her robes, extracting various tools.

Vipim Le checked her lizard-skin armor and armored gauntlets. Teppej had a net and a throwing knife ready, while the Chironian Mate’ was strapping armored greaves onto her equine legs and readying a spear.

Nese spoke up. “Are you all ready?”

Keope looked over at her and smiled. “What are we waiting for?”

The seven priestesses walked up to the main hatch. Keope pressed a button on the control panel next the door and pulled down on a lever, unsealing the ship. The door swung open with a hiss and a small ramp extended, allowing them to leave.

Xim watched them with orange eyes. “They mean to challenge me?” he muttered to himself. A smile played across his face. “This will be…fun.”
*****
The seven priestesses spread themselves out and surrounded Xim’s position. None of them had any real idea how to defeat him, but they had to try something. When they all reached a point about five hundred meters away from him, Nese shouted at the top of her lungs. “Xim the Despot, you have nowhere to go! Surrender now, or die.”

Outwardly, Nese projected an air of confidence. Inwardly, she groaned at the speech. Could it have been a little more melodramatic?

Vejoso looked at Nese and scowled. “He killed my planet!” She turned her green eyes to Xim and shook her fist at him. “You shall be punished for your evil actions!” The young girl held her gloved hands up and concentrated on the hot winds swirling about. They flowed around Xim, buffeting him and sending up great clouds of dust that threatened to choke him.

Keope laughed and shouted, “You’ve got him! You’ve got him!”

Suddenly, the dust storm surrounding Xim dispersed itself violently. Visible telekinetic shockwaves emanated from his raised hands, pitching everyone back except for Vouppi.

The silver-haired priestess unsheathed her sword, dug the enchanted blade into the ground and raised her own telekinetic shield. As soon as the shockwave passed, she raised her weapon and pointed it at Xim. Tendrils of whitish electricity gathered around the blade and shot off at the tyrant. The white bolts wrapped themselves around his arms and upper torso, dropping him to his knees.

Mate’ rose to her hooves and shouted, “That was excellent work, Miss Vouppi.” The centaur galloped at Xim, spear held low and in perfect position for skewering Xim.

Nese staggered to her feet as the Chironian attacked. “I’ve got a feeling about that, and it’s not too good,” she whispered. “Mate’, look out!“ she shouted.

As if on cue, Xim’s left hand curled into a fist and struck the ground, sending forth a groundquake that traveled in a straight line-right for Mate’. She skidded to a halt and turned, but the tremor hit her, pitched her back and almost broke her hindlegs.

Keope shouted, “Mate’, no!” She scrambled to her feet and held a corusca gem aloft, quite useful in amplifying her powers. The crystal shone for a moment and a hazy energy beam shot out of it. The translucent beam struck Xim’s chest armor, burning a hole through and causing him to grunt in pain. Smoke wafted from the wound and Xim’s face scrunched up in agony.

Teppej, crouching a few meters from Keope, readied her net and threw it at Xim. The net, sailed through the air and, with a tug on the guide rope, unfolded. The young Melodie pulled a rope attached to the net when it landed on Xim, causing it to open up and entangle him. “Gotcha, you nek.”

Xim’s body glowed briefly and Teppej’s net disintegrated in several flashes of fire. A simultaneous groan emanated from all seven priestesses. “We’ll never beat him!” Vejoso whined.

Keope shouted from her position. “We’ll just have to try harder.” She refocused the crystal’s beam on Xim, but an energy shield sprung up around him.

Vipim Le let a brief smile cross her visage of stone. “No, friend Keope. We mustn’t try to defeat Xim. We must beat Xim.”
*****
Seven days later
Nese looked around and smiled with a bit of gallows humor. Vejoso stood next to her and loosened the strap holding her weapon across her back. “Now he truly pays,” she said, all traces of mirth gone.

For a week they had battled Xim, and now he was finally showing signs of fatigue. We’re not faring any better, Vejoso thought. The weapon she now held, a weighted club with a sharpened point, struck the ground, sending forth an small orange burst of energy. It streaked along the cracked seabed, tearing it up before hitting Xim and shoving him back.

Vejoso looked up at Nese and let a toothy smile drift across her face. “Did I do good?”

Before the older woman could answer, a low chuckle could be heard from Xim. He rose to his feet, anger shining in his inhumanly orange eyes. “You did good, child, but not good enough!” He growled and all seven priestesses felt raw power building up within his body.

A gasp escaped Nese’s lips as she felt it. “That’s too much,” she mumbled. The green-eyed lady shouted, “Xim, you’ll kill yourself in the process!”

By now, Xim’s entire body was glowing red. “My body shall die, but my spirit shall live on.” A sick smile crossed his face as his flesh crawled. “Perhaps one of you shall serve as my new vessel.”

Vouppi’s silver eyes flashed at that. she held her sword up in front of her and knelt down. At the same time, she sent a telepathic message to everyone. Surround him, now! The six priestesses quickly separated and surrounded Xim, while Vouppi rose to her feet and pointed her sword at Xim once more. “Your time is over, tyrant.”

Meanwhile, Keope, Vipim Le, Vejoso, Mate’, Teppej and Nese concentrated, forming a moderately strong telekinetic barrier around the pair. Xim snarled as he felt the energy pressing in. “You shall now die!” he screamed, unleashing all his energies in one, huge blast. His body disintegrated in a maelstrom of bluish-white light, but Vouppi was ready for it.

She raised her weapon high and shouted, “Now, sword of sealing, contain this vile soul!” The blade glowed a blinding white and the energy that was Xim’s soul was sucked into it. A mental scream echoed through the Force itself as Xim’s soul was locked away.

When the last bits of energy was trapped inside the sword, Vouppi dropped it and collapsed to the ground in sheer exhaustion. The other priestesses followed her shortly after.

Chapter Three: Aftermath of Battle
Nese Emerald’s eyes slowly opened, letting in light. The world around swam a bit, but it gradually coalesced into the image of a young man with sky-blue eyes and a mop of blond hair. “Oh, I’m glad you’re awake!” he said, relief evident on his boyish face.

Nese propped herself up on her elbows and blinked several times. She looked around and saw she was in the Decade of Peace’s main cabin, along with the other priestesses. “How long were we out?”

Lucas thought for a moment. “I’d have to say about two days,” he finally observed.

Nese bolted to her feet-and nearly collapsed again. Lucas quickly grabbed her and helped her to a nearby chair. “Two days? How the kriff did that happen?”

Lucas shrugged as she sat. “I have no idea, but you were the last to wake up.”

Vejoso walked over and gave her a glass of water, which she quickly gulped down. “Thanks,” she mumbled. She looked up and finally took notice of Vejoso’s face. The little girl had an aura of crushing sadness about her, and Nese didn’t have to guess why. “Xim did a number, didn’t he.”

Vejoso nodded. “The rain forests are gone, and the planet’s been stripped of 95% of all surface water.” A small whimper escaped her lips, and tears fell from her green eyes. “Tatooine’s gonna be a desert in five years!” she wailed.

Nese's heart went out for the little girl. She stood up, wrapped her arms around her and hugged for a good five minutes.

Finally, Vejoso let go and sniffed a bit. “Thank you,” she whispered.

Nese looked around at the other priestesses. “Well, at least Xim is gone for good!” she stated. Her eyes looked around. “Right? Come on, folks. Help me out here.”

Vipim Le cleared her throat. “Actually, that is not the correct information.” The Dathomirian looked over at Vouppi, who had her sword on the table.

The Elven priestess let out a nervous chuckle, prompting Nese to groan. “Don’t tell me his spirit’s in there!” she exclaimed.

Vouppi pointedly examined the weapon. “It was the only thing I could do.” A serious expression crossed her face. “He is sealed, but if the sword was destroyed, he’d be free. And we don’t have the power to stop him, not alone.”

Vouppi turned around and motioned to Keope. ‘Keope has an idea, and I think it has merit.”

The young Corellian stepped forward and held up her corusca gem. “We were able to hold Xim at bay by combining our powers, but it was difficult.” She hesitated and organized her thoughts before continuing, uncertainty playing over her face. “I’ve had a vision about that, and only by combining our powers permanently can we destroy his spirit.” She held up her corusca gem to the light so it sparkled. “We need to imbue this gem with a portion of our power so that our future selves can destroy Xim.”

Nese rolled her eyes. “Well, why don’t we just ‘imbue’ the gem and take care of him ourselves?”

Teppej spoke up from the back of the cabin. “We won’t be strong enough to utilize it, dummy.” She rolled her yellow eyes and sighed, causing Nese to direct a withering glare at her.

Finally, the older woman stood up. “When should we do this?”

Vouppi thought for a moment. “We should wait another day for the lunar eclipse. That’s when we’ll have maximum power.”

Vejoso turned to Vouppi. “Tatooine has no moons. Don’t you mean when Tattoo I and II are aligned?”

At that, Vouppi chuckled nervously and scratched the back of her head, her silver-colored eyes closing somewhat. “Of course, of course! That’s precisely what I meant!”

Nese turned around in her chair and massaged her forehead. And she’s the smart one? She opened her eyes and saw Lucas still standing there.

“Wanna stretch your legs?” he asked.

Nese smiled and rose to her booted feet. “I thought you’d never ask, farmboy.” The two quietly left the ship walked down the shoreline of the now dry Dune Sea. Nese felt tears sting her eyes as she looked out at the desiccated marine life. “I still can’t believe he did this in only two days!”

Lucas somberly nodded. “I hope he pays for his sins, I really do.” He tentatively reached out with his left hand, but Nese was quicker. She grabbed him and hauled him in for a long, lingering kiss. When they broke, Lucas’s blue eyes were wide, and Nese quickly realized that she was his first kiss.

“Boy, you really are a farmboy,” she quipped, grinning.

A big, sheepish grin settled on Lucas’ face. “Handel was always the ladies man. I just liked tending to the crops and flying my plane around.”

The priestess of the Battalions of Zhell merely smirked. “Well, maybe I’d like to see this farm on Alderaan.” A thought crossed her mind. And maybe I’ll end up there.

Lucas’ brow scrunched in simultaneous confusion. “End up where?” he asked.

Nese growled at him and grabbed his shirt collar. “Stay out of my head, Lucas.” Her mouth then dropped open at that. “You-you heard that?”

Lucas nodded, prompting Nese to let go of his collar and grab him by the arm. “You have the power, Lucas,” she half-whispered. The young farmboy allowed himself to be led on, not quite knowing what was going on, and not quite caring as long as he was with Nese.
*****
Two days later
The binary stars of Tattoo I and Tattoo lined up with Tatooine and seven priestesses stood in a circle around Keope’s corusca gem. The clear jewel hovered in midair, suspended by the power of all seven minds.

Keope raised her arm and concentrated, sending a hazy stream of gray energy at the gem. Vipim Le then raised her gauntleted arm, sending forth a beam of red energy. Vejoso sent forth a stream of yellow energy, while a blue stream came from Mate’s hand. A silvery stream of light came from Vouppi, while a violet steam came from Teppej. Finally, Nese raised her arm and sent forth a stream of green energy. The crystal flashed before breaking into seven fragments.

A fragment shot into each one of their outstretched hands. “We must hide these so no one else can find them,” Vouppi said.

Nese held her fragment to the light and felt power in hers. She sensed not only her own power, but also a mixture of everyone else’s. She gripped it tightly and looked at everyone. “Maybe someday our reincarnations can destroy Xim once and for all.”

The others nodded, then turned and headed to the Decade of Peace. Within ten minutes, the freighter was leaving the exosphere and heading for the hyperdrive ring still in orbit.

Epilogue
Yavin IV, present day
Jaina’s eyes blinked at the event witnessed. She turned to a chronometer on her desk and let out a small gasp. Ten days had passed in her mind, while only thirty seconds passed in real time. “Uncle Luke's right,” she muttered. “Visions from the Force can be disturbing.”

She looked down at Luna, who was baring her fangs in a smile. “So, how was it?” the feline asked, stretching a bit.

The young woman plopped back down on her bad and looked over her lightsaber. “It was…incredible.” A thought suddenly hit her. “Wait, Padme told us that there were seven priestesses there. If so, where did Mom and Anja gain their Senshi powers?”

Luna shrugged. “Senshi power is based in the heart and soul. It is not dependent on reincarnation.”

Jaina could only sigh. “Thanks, Luna.” Still, a small smile tugged at the corner of her lips as she thought of Keope Tumu. You did well, Keope. Thanks for the opportunity to beat Xim and discover part of my past.

Keope looked out one of the Decade’s viewports and, without ever knowing why, said, “You’re welcome.”

Vipim Le shrugged. “You are daydreaming instead of helping us plan for the attack.”

Harsh! sad

“I don’t know,” she finally squeaked out, her nose and whiskers twitching in equal parts nervousness and despair.

*blinks* Uhh... hmmm. I mean, it makes sense if that's her homeworld and all, but was her being a different species in the original version?

“So, what are you doing after this little mission?”

Always assuming, of course, that they all aren't eradicated and the universe enslaved... tongue

*snort* "...the correct information"... Ahh! Striker, you are a genius!

Chapter Two: Death of Tatooine

That is such a freakin' AWESOME idea! I told you the first time, but I'm just reiterating- TOO COOL!

...all that was left was bone-dry bedrock and dead marine life.

Oi, it must reek of fish... Ick.

Seven days later...

O_O *whistles*

Keope looked out one of the Decade’s viewports and, without ever knowing why, said, “You’re welcome.”

*squeals* So cool!

Uppers for the ninth!

Nice flashbacks to the past and that is great backstory, which is more than I can say for most 'filler'. Helps me understand a bit more on how this 'magical girl/woman' thing works, too. As I'm a bit inexperienced in that genre I need all the help I can get. (Though I am taking an interest in a new one called Nanoha . . .)

From the sounds of it the next arc sounds extremely interesting. I assume it's going to be longer than the last two?

It's kind of cool that reincarnation doesn't explain everything in the Senshi system. Having the power yourself looks like it helps as much as being a descendent/reincarnation of someone else. Quite a fair system.

I'm actually surprised I beat your post with the reply. Anyways . . . can't wait to see where the story goes from here.

SSM12-Yes. That's their origin story-well, some of them.

Taeniaea-Thanks, and I might in a later story arc.

Lady_Jade-Yeah, they sure do! And thanks. You'll see. wink

Jaded_Girl-Yes, but true as well. I did change her into a Ghorfa in this version to reflect new information. I think they were thinking of something other than the fish smell. tongue And thank you.

r_c-Thank you. happy And you're right. This only explained the priestesses, not anyone else. The next arc is long, yes. Glad I could help you with the 'magical girl/woman' thing. wink And you beat me this time because I'm not feeling well.

Two Announcements!

A. Casting call!

In this fic, during the Earth scenes, I had several characters based off of RL friends. This time, I'd like to use you folks. happy

If you wish to be used for one of the following characters, please PM me with some basic physical info and a name.

Character list:
1. Captain Jon Ellis-filled by myself wink

2. Captain Sarah McCarthy-filled by DarthIshtar

3. President Frank Dubay

4. Vice President Catherine Slavin-FIlled by Noelie

5. Captain Carl Fisher

6. Lieutenant Colonel Benjamin Russel

B. I am using a species known as the Charon as the main bad guy army. This is before I really knew their backstory from the AU I am writing with rebel_cheese and can be considered a 'poor man's' version of even the canon Charon. Rest assured, though, the Vong will be used at some other point in the timeline.

Also, Tuesday marks the 6th anniversary of 9/11. Please remember to thank any members of the military for their service and any members of the fire department and/or police department.

And so begins part seven of this. I have less than 400 pages to edit before I begin original work. Can you believe it?

Here we go!

Chapter One: Going Home
Hino Rei stood at the edge of the Great Temple’s roof and looked out at the jungle. Two months ago, she would’ve been able to feel a slight buzzing in her head. Now, the miko could almost tell you how many piranha beetles were in the jungle at any given time. It was…exhilarating, and quite scary at times.

Without even having to turn around to see who it was, she smiled and said, “Hello, Master Skywalker.”

Behind her, Luke smiled and walked up to her. His blue eyes looked out over the jungle, his home for nearly twenty years. “Your powers have grown quite a bit, Rei,” he observed with pride in his voice.

Rei turned her head, looked over the Jedi Master with her onyx eyes and nodded. “I had two excellent teachers.”

For a few minutes, neither spoke. Luke eventually cleared his throat. “Is something troubling you?”

Rei's shoulders slumped a bit at his accurate perceptions. “I’m just not sure if I want to go back to Earth,” she sheepishly admitted. “There’s just so much here to take in.”

Luke nodded. “Actually, I feel the same way. I’d love to go to Earth and spend a year or two there in Tokyo.”

Rei's mouth dropped and her eyes widened in surprise at that. “What? Why would you want to go to such a boring place?” She gestured at the expansive jungle. “This is just one moon, and you have an entire galaxy as your backyard!”

The Jedi Master chuckled. “Yes, but I’ll never find a chocolate parfait on Corellia. Nor will I find a more tranquil place than beneath the tree in your temple.” He turned and motioned to the stairs leading down. “And I believe you have a ship to catch. Mara’s waiting.”

Rei bowed, then hurried over to the stairs.

Luke and Rei emerged five minutes later and walked down the steps of the Great Temple to the landing field. Mara Jade Skywalker stood near her ship, the Jade Saber[/, while the rest of the Sailor Senshi boarded.

Luke walked past them and approached one of the two men going back to Tokyo. “Are you sure you want to do this, Kyp?” he asked.

Kyp Durron, Jedi Master, nodded, his ponytail bobbing up and down over the back of his neck. His face held a serious expression, but his eyes were twinkling. “I’m sure, Luke.” His gaze drifted to a tall brunette in a pair of light green pants and tanktop. “I don’t know why, but I can’t keep my mind off Mako. We share so much.”

The Jedi master nodded in understanding. He patted his old friend on the shoulder. “The Academy won’t be the same without you.”

Kyp smirked. “You mean you’ll be able to get work done?”

Luke's hand subtly slid from Kyp’s shoulder to his hair and, with one quick tug, he pulled and unknotted the braid holding the younger man’s ponytail together.

Kyp halfheartedly swatted at Luke, but the Jedi was already darting off. The younger Jedi Master sighed, then walked over to Makoto. She looked over and smiled. “I think your hair looks good like that.”

Kyp merely shrugged, his pale . “The ponytail keeps it out of my hair.” He looked around. “I thought Jaina and her friends would be here to say goodbye.”

The brunette Senshi shrugged, her nervousness rising a bit. “We… said all our good-byes last night. Right now Tenel Ka and Jacen are on their way to their honeymoon. Jaina’s going back to the military…” She paused for a moment. “I’m not sure where the rest went off to, though.” A sigh escaped her lips. “Do we have to go on the [i]Saber
? I hate flying!”

Before Kyp could comfort her, Mizuno Ami walked up to Kyp and held out a bundle of papers and plastic cards. “Master Durron? I took the liberty of creating ID for you, as well as a full background. As soon as we reach Tokyo, I can use my computer to place you into the system.”

Kyp took the proffered bundle. A smile lit his pale face as he said, “Ami, that was really nice of you.”

Ami smiled. “No problem, Master.” Her eyes turned to Makoto and she placed a hand on her forearm. “Will you be all right?”

Makoto closed her eyes. “I have no real choice, Ami. I’ve got to face my fears sooner or later.”

Kyp’s fingers intertwined with her own. “You apparently did all right flying here, Mako. You’ll be fine again, and I’ll be right there with you the entire way.”

Just then, Mara shouted from the main hatch. “All right! I don’t have all day! Let’s get loaded up now!”

In the front of the crowd, Chiba Usagi looked over at the pregnant Jedi Master. Concern filled her blue eyes as she spoke. “Are you all right, Mistress Jade? I’m sensing you‘re a bit off-balance.”

Mara’s stern face quickly melted into sorrow. Her lower lip quivered, and tears stung her eyes. “I’m so sorry, Usagi! That was so mean of me.” She raced down the ramp and hugged her. “Please, forgive me!“

Usagi awkwardly patted her on the back. “It’s… all right. We know you don’t mean it.”

Mara’s hands went to her belly, and then as quickly as she went from anger to sorrow, rage took over. She stepped away from Usagi, unclipped her lightsaber and activated it, sending forth a bright-blue blade. She pointed it at Luke and shouted, “You did this to me!”

Luke's eyes bugged out slightly, and he backed up as abject terror took root in his soul. “Mara, dear, please remember to control yourself!” He held out his hand and said, “I love you.”

Mara’s mouth dropped open. She quickly deactivated her lightsaber, clipped it to her belt and hugged Luke. “I love you too!” she squealed.

Her husband breathed a sigh of relief. “So, are you ready to take the Senshi back to Earth?”

Mara broke the embrace and turned back to the Saber. “Let’s go!” she shouted enthusiastically.

The nine women, two cats and two men all shouted, “Yeah!” and walked up the ramp.

Makoto breathed deeply as she stepped onto the ramp. Mama, Papa, please be with me, she thought. Her eyes met Kyp’s and she smiled. “Thank you.”

The last one in was Tomoe Hotaru. The eighteen-year old looked at the Great Temple with her violet eyes and sighed. I’ll be back in a few months, Anakin. Wait for me. And with that, she walked up the boarding ramp.

The main hatch sealed and the cruiser’s engines powered up with a roar. The Jade Saber lifted off the dirt and hovered for a few moments before blasting off of the atmosphere and into deep space.

Luke waited until his eyes picked out the flash of croneau radiation, indicating the cruiser going to hyperspace. He then walked up the Great Temple’s steps and into the Academy for another day of lessons.
*****
Tokyo, Japan
She wandered along a dirt path, not sure where to go or even what to do. The shell of the Phantom Sister Calaveras looked to the sky with her eyes and growled. One thought was dominated her mind; kill the Sailor Senshi and their Jedi allies. The problems, however, were numerous. She didn’t have the power to take on even the weakest of them, much less all of them.

Also, the golden bracelets encircling her wrists were a fairly large Achilles heel. If were damaged or destroyed, she would fade into oblivion. And finally, she had no real way of getting to the Jedi. They were in another dimension, and were thus untouchable.

She scanned the sky and soon noticed…something. At first glance, Calaveras dismissed it as a simple jet, but it was moving too fast and was soon flying too low. It streak across the sky to the mountains, disappearing from sight.

Calaveras concentrated for a moment. An energy vortex appeared in front of her and she stepped into its maw, transporting her to the mouth of a small valley. Three hills surrounded it and effectively cut it off from the outside world. She quickly ducked behind a rock as a small ship landed in the middle of the field.

The shell’s mind worked overtime as the ship settled. That’s from the Jedi’s dimension! A thought soon settled into her head. I must stow away on it. There is power where they come from, power enough for me to rule.

The Saber’s main ramp lowered and Usagi bounded out. “Yay! We’re home!” she yelled. “Hello, Tokyo!”

Minako followed and looked around the small valley. “Home is what you make of it,” she stated, a proud look on her idol features.

Artemis followed the two blond Senshi. “I think you got that wrong,” he said, his tiny brow furrowing.

Minako’s eyebrow twitched, and she scooped Artemis up in a flash. She held him up to her face and looked him in his yellow eyes. “Do you want to sleep outside for the next month?” she growled.

The white cat chuckled nervously. “Now, now. Anger is of the Dark Side, Minako!”

She gritted her teeth, but put him back down on the dirt.

Michiru and Haruka soon followed. The violinist checked her watch. “I hope the construction crew is done.”

Haruka rolled her blue eyes and ran her hand through her short hair in frustration. “We’ll find out when we get there, okay?” The rest of the Senshi exited the Saber, with Makoto and Kyp departing last. He carried two satchels and looked out over the valley. He hesitated for a moment, but his green eyes fell upon Makoto, causing him to hurry.

Calaveras simultaneously crept forward; using the various bushes and rocks strewn about as cover. She made her way to the far side of the Jade Saber, opposite of the main ramp. As the Senshi walked off, Calaveras made a break for it and ran to the landing gear. She unclipped her whip from her miniskirt and unfurled it, wrapping it around the large metal cylinder twice and then wrapping the excess around her left arm. She squeezed her lithe form as tight to the strut as possible, all the while trying to avoid the hydraulic winches that raised and lowered it.

At the mouth of the valley, Makoto turned back to the Jade Saber as it lifted off. “Something’s not right,” she said. She stretched out with the Force and scanned the gray-hulled cruiser. “Mistress Jade can’t go to Yavin!” She ran back down the valley but a hand on her shoulder stopped her.

She looked back and saw Kyp standing there. “I don’t feel anything wrong with the Saber, Mako. Are you sure?”

Makoto turned back to the Jade Saber, but by now it was nothing more than a silver dot in the sky. “No. Nothing’s wrong with the Saber.” She turned back to Kyp and the two resumed walking back to Tokyo.

Ami and Hotaru lingered a moment longer, but they too began the journey home.

In the Saber’s cockpit, Mara set course for the hyperspace instability that linked both realities. A nagging feeling of doubt crept into the back of her mind, but she dismissed it as hormones. I gotta talk to Leia when I get back, she thought. I wonder how she dealt with this when she was pregnant.
*****
Two hours later
The Jade Saber landed in front of the Great Temple on Yavin IV, jets of steam blasting from the main thruster nozzles. The ship creaked a bit as it settled and adjusted to the temperature difference.

As soon as the landing gear extended, Calaveras let go of her whip and limply fell to the ground. A fine sheen of frost covered her body and her skin was blue from the near absolute temperatures. Only the bracelets kept her alive-or reasonably close to alive. She slowly rose to her feet and stumbled to the jungle. Calaveras had no idea where she was going; And she didn’t care. All that mattered was escape.

While Calaveras made her way to the jungle, Luke and Tionne went up to the Saber’s main hatch and waited for the ramp to lower. After about a minute, Mara made her way down to her husband and friend. She wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him in for a long, lingering kiss. “Miss me?”

Luke's cerulean eyes shone with happiness. “I missed you both.” He backed off and placed his hand on her belly, feeling his daughter growing in Mara’s womb. The two walked back up the steps with Tionne trailing behind. For some reason, Luke felt an…emptiness inside him. “It’s going to be quiet without them here,” he said out loud.

Mara smiled at her husband. “We’ll have someone to make plenty of noise soon, farmboy.”

Tionne cleared her throat, causing both expectant parents to look over their shoulders at her. “I’ll be with Kam if you need me,” she said, hurrying past them and into the Great Temple.

Mara and Luke looked at each other, a look of confusion plastered on their faces. “What was that about?” both said.
*****
Tionne ran to her quarters and found Kam Solusar on the bed, reading an old Jedi account of Geonosis. She promptly walked over, grabbed it out of his hand and tossed it away.

The Jedi Master’s mouth dropped in confusion at his wife. He looked up at her. “Tionne? What are you-“

She placed a finger on his mouth, silencing him. “Kam, honey, I want a child.”

Kam’s eyes went wide in utter shock at his wife’s request. “A…a child?” He scanned her through the Force-and was only partially relieved when he knew it was really Tionne there and not a clone or doppelganger. “A child.”

She nodded, tossing her silvery hair all about. “I can feel myself getting older, Kam.”

His right eyebrow arched. “Tionne, you’re immortal. You’ll never grow old.”

The Senshi’s eyes darted about as she thought about that. “Well…”

Kam cut her off. He took her delicate hand in his and gently pulled her down to their bed. “Is this sudden urge related to the fact that I’m not immortal?” he reasoned out.

Tionne’s silvery eyes refused to meet her husband’s eyes as she spoke. “That’s not true. You’re probably a Guardian.” She turned to him and began talking rapidly. “Mamoru never tested you, nor did Zekk or the others. I bet you‘ve got a rose in there somewhere!”

A chuckle escaped Kam’s lips. “And what are the odds of that happening any time soon?” He reached over, took her chin between his thumb and forefinger and guided her head around so they could look each other in the eyes. “Honey, not everything stays the same. Someday, I’ll be gone. But that’s no reason to bring a new life into the universe.”

She abruptly stood up and paced about a bit. “But I don’t want to lose you, Kam!”

A half-smile crossed his lips. So, that’s what this was about.

Tionne turned to him. “What’s what about?”

Kam stood up and took his wife’s hand in his. “This is not about you and I having a baby. It’s about me dying.” Tionne bit her lower lip in consternation and Kam knew he had her. “Honey, even if I die, it’s gonna be a long time from now. And I’ll always be there for you.”

Tionne leaned her head against Kam’s muscular chest and let out a ragged sigh. “I know.” She looked up into his dark eyes and ran a finger along his chest. “You know, even though we won’t have a child for a bit…”

The two then leaned closer together and kissed…

Chapter Two: Settling in

Tokyo (Again)
Makoto opened the door to her apartment and walked in. Her observant eyes darted about and she quickly noted each spot of dust. She made a mental note to clean up within the next two days. After checking on her bakery, she and Kyp made their way to her home on the building’s second floor. She turned to him and smiled nervously. “What do you think?”

Kyp’s cloak swirled around his body as he walked in. He set their bags down at the doorstep and noted the cuteness of the apartment. “It’s…nice,” he said. “Very orderly and clean.”

Makoto bowed, partly to hide her blushing cheeks. “Thank you.” She motioned to a door at the side. “Would you like to see the training center?”

Kyp’s green eyes brightened at that. “Lead the way,” he said, grinning.

Jedi Master Kyp Durron soon stood in Kino Makoto’s training center. While he wore a simple pair of tan pants, white shirt and black cloak, Makoto had changed into a white jujitsu gi. He glanced at the weapons wall and noted the wide variety of weapons hanging there.

Kyp held his hand to his chin in thought as he walked up to them and asked, “Where did you get all these?”

Makoto followed him. “The Kino family has been a warrior clan for over ten generations.” A half-smile crossed her lips as she thought of her family history. “A Kino fought on both sides of World War II and even saw the end of the Tokugawa regime.” A sigh escaped her lips and she hugged her sides. “And now I am the last of the line.”

Kyp turned to her and felt the immense wave of sadness coming from her. “If it’ll make you feel better, please talk to me about it.”

Makoto looked up slightly at him and nodded. “I was five when they died. My parents were coming home from a business trip in Los Angeles.” Tears streamed down her cheeks as she remembered. “The plane… the plane was flying into Tokyo International, and it just-it just exploded in midair!” Makoto now shook visibly, and Kyp wrapped his powerful arms around her.

He sent her soothing thoughts through the Force, and her shaking slowed, although it didn’t end entirely. “It’s all right to be sad,” he said. “You just can’t let it control you.” He felt her nod her head against his chest and, despite himself, he could smell her perfume. It’s like roses in bloom, he thought.

Makoto’s head tilted up. “Actually, it’s just the shampoo I wash my hair with.”

Kyp let out a small chuckle. “Sorry.”

Makoto gently pushed away from him. “It’s all right, and thanks for listening to my tale of woe.”

Kyp shrugged. “It was the least I could do.”

The young lady’s eyes sparkled. “Then the least I can do is make you a grand feast, one worthy of a Jedi Master.” The pair walked to the door connecting the two halves of the apartment and entered into Makoto’s kitchen. She put on an apron, but was quite surprised to see Kyp with one on!

“I’m a fair cook,” he said, “but I’d like to learn from a master chef.”

A smile blossomed over Makoto’s face at his words. She bowed her head slightly and then opened a drawer, pulling out her favorite headband. “The first thing is to determine what you want to eat. That’s very important.” She pointed to a cupboard near Kyp’s booted feet. “Please pull out a six-inch baking pan.”

Kyp comically saluted and knelt down, opened the door with the Force and levitated the pan over to her. Makoto’s eyebrow arched at his action. “Hmm, I suppose being a Jedi Knight can make some things easier in the kitchen.” She grabbed the pan out of the air and set it down onto the counter. Her emerald eyes flashed strangely as she spoke. “Now this is how I do it.”

Over the next hour, Kyp realized that, compared to Makoto, he had a long way to go in cooking. When she was finished, both were sitting in the main living room at a knee-high table. Makoto bowed her head and said, “Itadakimasu” before digging in.

Kyp soon followed, and he found the food to be delicious. He said so to Makoto, who could only smile due to her mouth being stuffed with food.

An hour later, Makoto filled the dishwasher while Kyp read through a newspaper-well, he attempted reading it. Although the translator implanted in his ear allowed him to speak and understand Japanese, the written language was still giving the Jedi Master some trouble.

Makoto walked over and sat down with a cup of coffee. “What are you doing?” she asked.

The Jedi looked up from the paper. “Now that I’m in the system, I need to find some sort of work.” A smirk crossed his lips. “’Jedi Master’ won’t earn us much money.”

Makoto leaned over and scanned the classified section with him. “Well, what about something in law enforcement?”

Kyp furrowed his brows and shook his head. “No. That might remind me too much of the old Empire.” A thought then struck him. “I wonder if Japan allows bounty hunters.”

Makoto thought for a moment. “I believe the term here is ‘detective’.” She motioned to the floor. “Wait, why not just work in the bakery?”

The Jedi Master chuckled. “I don’t think I’ll do too well there, Mako. My Jedi talents might come out too much.” He rubbed his chin in thought. “I’ll have to find out about this detective business some more. But in the meantime, I think it’s time for some rest.” He got up and stifled a yawn. “So, where’s my bed?”

Makoto blushed a bit. “Umm, the couch folds out…” She sprang to her feet and made her way to her bedroom. “Good night,“ she muttered over her shoulder, leaving Kyp at the kitchen table.

He noticed, however, the door left wide open.

He walked over and undid the clasp holding his cloak to his neck and unclipped his lightsaber from his belt, then he walked into her room...

In this fic, during the Earth scenes, I had several characters based off of RL friends. This time, I'd like to use you folks. If you wish to be used for one of the following characters, please PM me with some basic physical info and a name.

*snaps fingers* Drat! Missed the girl slots! tongue

Ima sugu aitai yo (I want to see you right now!)
*Kyp and Makoto are seen standing back to back, Kyp has a rose in his hand...*

Nakitaku naru you na moonlight (I'm just about to cry – moonlight)
*Sailor Yavin and Kam are then seen, but Kam has no rose.*

I love the imagery, especially the contrasting elements!

Luke's hand subtly slid from Kyp’s shoulder to his hair and, with one quick tug, he pulled and unknotted the braid holding the younger man’s ponytail together... Kyp halfheartedly swatted at Luke, but the Jedi was already darting off.

Hee hee! Luke, you rascal! love

And... O_o;;;; *hides from Mara's raging hormones*

~Mara’s hands went to her belly, and then as quickly as she went from anger to sorrow, rage took over. She stepped away from Usagi, unclipped her lightsaber and activated it, sending forth a bright-blue blade. She pointed it at Luke and shouted, “You did this to me!”
~Luke's eyes bugged out slightly, and he backed up as abject terror took root in his soul. “Mara, dear, please remember to control yourself!”

^_^;;; So cute! And like this, Mara reminds me of Kaoru... Ahh, she has marvelous tantrums!

Minako followed and looked around the small valley. “Home is what you make of it,” she stated, a proud look on her idol features.

laugh

At the mouth of the valley, Makoto turned back to the Jade Saber as it lifted off. “Something’s not right,” she said. She stretched out with the Force and scanned the gray-hulled cruiser. “Mistress Jade can’t go to Yavin!” She ran back down the valley but a hand on her shoulder stopped her.

See! They should've listened to Mako-chan! not_talking

Kam’s eyes went wide in utter shock at his wife’s request. “A…a child?” He scanned her through the Force-and was only partially relieved when he knew it was really Tionne there and not a clone or doppelganger.

*snort*

Awwww! Kam gets MAJOR sweetie-pie-understanding-husband points! *hugs Kam*

Mako is so COOL!!! *squeal!*

Go, go, Detective Kyp! Uppers!

Eh, I don't want to be immortalized as a character. I'd rather see what your imagination comes up with. happy

Mara is quite . . . interesting when she's pregnant. I don't think she's going to be a Senshi for the most part here, though. Don't want to put the baby at risk. She has quite the tantrums too. Reminds me of Edward when he's told he's "short" or a "runt".

Kyp and Makoto, sittin' in a tree . . . mischief

Tionne wants a baby. Poor Kam. While his wife is out adventuring, kicking the butts of bad guys, and looking remarkably good in a Senshi uniform, he's gonna be stuck with changing diapers unless he gets a rose drawn out of him, fast. tongue

Personally, I think there's enough rose-men already, but I'm sure that if Kam has a rose, you'll make it cool.

Wow, four hundred pages to go . . . you really wrote quite the epic already and we haven't caught up to the original material. shock

Can't wait to see where this goes from here.

SSM12-Thanks! I loved writing those opening themes. They really stretched my imagination.

Taeniaea-Thank you. happy

Lady_Jade-Kyp and Makoto were a real gem to unearth. happy Ands writing their relationship has been rewarding, too. And no, not good she's there.

Jaded_Girl-Well, who said a guy part had to remain a guy? If I can change Vejoso from human to Ghorfa/rat, I sure can change man to woman. Wanna be president? Yes, I love that part of the opening. Probably my favorite, actually. Yes, Luke's a rascal. And duck and cover when Mara's around. Kam does rock, yes. And yes, go go, Detecive Kyp. tongue

Mac-Aww, you sure? wink Well, okay. Better not sing that around Kyp or Makoto... unless you wish to be punted into orbit. tongue Kam and Tionne... you'll see. No rose for him, though. Yeah, it's quite an epic so far.

All right, just for the record...

I have edited 735 paged out of 1171. Quite a bit...

Here's the list of recasts again.

The next morning
Kyp’s eyes fluttered open and he suppressed a yawn. He looked across the pillow, saw Makoto lying next to him on the bed and let out a sigh of total contentment. He felt her through the Force, and the nascent connection that was growing felt good. Last night, they were content to simply hold each other in their arms and talk before drifting off to sleep.

Makoto’s eyes suddenly shot open and she bolted from her bed. She made a beeline for her dresser and spoke over her shoulder. “Sorry, Kyp, but work at the bakery starts early.” She suddenly whipped around when his presence vanished from their room.

She reached out through the Force and felt him in the kitchen. “I got coffee for you!” he yelled from outside. Makoto shrugged on her bathrobe and went to the kitchen. Kyp stood there pouring hot water from a kettle into a cup.

She walked up to the table and slid into a chair as it was telekinetically pulled out for her. “But how?”

A chuckle escaped the Jedi Master’s lips. “Coffee’s the same as a stimulant from my reality, and you did show me how to use the stove last night.” He picked up the cup by the handle and set it down in front of her.

A smile crossed Makoto’s lips. She sat down and took a sip, but as soon as the black liquid touched her lips, she made a face. “Too strong, too strong!” she yelped. The brunette Senshi got up and speed-walked to the refrigerator. “I always take milk with my coffee, Kyp. Never forget that.”

Kyp scratched the back of his head and nodded. “Sure thing, Mako. Always milk.”

Thirty minutes later, Makoto and Kyp stood at the doorjamb. “I’ll be finished work about 6:00 tonight,” Makoto said. “There’s an unused room on the first floor if you’d like to check it out.”

Kyp nodded and brushed a lock of jet-black hair from his eyes. “I’ll do that.” A boyish grin lit up his face. “This should be…fun.”

She softly patted his cheek and smiled before turning and walking down the hallway to the stairs. Kyp closed and locked the door before heading in the opposite direction to an elevator. He telekinetically hit the button, ensuring it would be open by the time he reached it. The Jedi Master stepped in and pressed the button for the first floor.

Makoto’s bakery took up a large part of the first floor of the building she lived in, but not all of it. A small office was tucked into the side, but she had never found a use for it.

The elevator opened up into a small T-shaped intersection. Kyp stepped forward and saw a door in front of him and a door to his right. A vague smell of pastries and roses wafted from the door in front, so he turned and opened the door to his right. The Jedi Master stepped into a small office complete with a desk, file cabinet and large window looking out onto the street.

It looked just like the office from that old holodrama The Corellian Hawkbat. He ran a finger along the desk and was only partially surprised to find it dust free. “Mako, you’re incredible,” he murmured.

The previous night
Hotaru set a holograph of her, Anakin and Tahiri on the dresser, then put another one of just her and Anakin on her nightstand. The Senshi of death checked her alarm and double-checked all her Summer homework was done before climbing into bed.

Tomorrow was the start of the second semester of senior year, and she was anxious to get it over with. After she graduated from Jubaan High School, she would be back in the New Republic, and back with Anakin. She thought about his ice-blue eyes and handsome features…

A knock on the door interrupted her reverie. She looked over with her violet eyes and said, “Come in, Michiru!”

The door opened, allowing Kaiou Michiru to enter. She ran her fingers through her long, aquamarine hair and let out a breath. “Must you do that?”

Hotaru shrugged from her bed. “Master Skywalker did it all the time to us.”

Michiru nodded. “Yes. Are you Master Skywalker?” The teen shook her head and Michiru tilted her head to the side with a small smirk on her lips. “Exactly.”

She walked over to Hotaru‘s book bag next to the bed. “Is your homework all done?”

Hotaru leaned over and slid a book out of the bag, opened it up and pulled out a notebook. She handed it to Michiru while saying, “It was finished the first week of Summer, except for the diary.”

Michiru’s aquamarine eyes scanned the diary and narrowed. “So, you went to America during Summer? I don’t remember that.”

The younger woman’s face had a nervous smile on her face. “Well, what was I supposed to say? ‘The trees of Yavin IV were particularly beautiful this time of year, and no piranha beetle attacks happened during Jacen and Tenel Ka’s wedding’?”

Michiru held her hand up to her chin in thought. “Well, I suppose so.” She handed the notebook back. “Get some sleep, okay? We’re going to see your father tomorrow after school.”

The Senshi of death closed her eyes and smiled. “Yes, Michiru.”

The older Senshi smiled and rubbed Hotaru’s short, black hair. “Good night, Hotaru,” she said before leaving.

Hotaru looked at the holograph of her and Anakin once more before turning off her lamps with the Force and going to sleep.

Michiru sat down in the dining room with Ten’ou Haruka just as Setsuna walked in. She took a sip of tea. “Something stirs.”

Haruka’s blue eyes focused on her best friend. “What do you see?”

Michiru shrugged. “I mean my tea is stirred.” A coy smile crossed her red lips. “Did you really think I was commenting on a vision from the Force?”

Setsuna rolled her scarlet eyes and got to her feet. “Michiru, don’t joke about that.” She held out her right hand and concentrated. An ornate rod appeared in her palm and held it to the sky. “Pluto Crystal Power Makeup!” she shouted.

A fierce wind whipped around her as her clothing melted and reformed into a Sailor Fuku, complete with a dark green skirt and a matching bow tied on front. Elbow-length gloves and knee-high boots completed the ensemble. Now she stood as Sailor Pluto, guardian of the time gate. She held out her left hand and a long gray staff topped by a blood-red sphere materialized. “I must check the flow of time and see what major changes might arise.”

Haruka nodded. “May the Force be with you, Setsuna.”

Pluto nodded and motioned to the front of the dining room table. A large, onyx-colored and extremely ornate door appeared.

She stepped through and the mists of time enveloped her, disorienting her slightly before balance was once more regained. A thread of light streaked past her midsection and she examined it. A gasp escaped her lips as she saw the future of Earth and Crystal Tokyo. She knew darkness was coming; she just didn’t know when. A slight smile crossed her lips at that thought. She turned around and walked across the plains of time.

After a millennia-or a few seconds-she reached another door. It opened and she stepped through to Yavin IV.

On the other side, Luke sat on the floor of his office and meditated. His eyes remained close and his head level as he spoke. “Hello, Setsuna.” His head craned around a bit. “I didn’t know you could do that.”

Pluto shrugged. “I do what is necessary.” Her face took on an even more solemn expression than usual. “Hotaru will cross over to your reality after she graduates. There must be no contact between our two realities after for a period of ten years, understood?”

Luke jumped to his feet and turned to face her. His blue eyes betrayed his confusion at that. “Why?”

Sailor Pluto shook her head, sending her long, dark green hair swishing about. “I cannot say, Master Skywalker. Please do not pry, either. These rules go back farther than you or even I can imagine.”

The Jedi Master eventually nodded. “I will abide by your wishes, guardian of time.”

A half-smile crossed her face before she turned back to the time gate. Before she entered, she spoke once more. “Tell Mara not to eat too much Corellian sausages. They will make her nauseous.” And with that, she was gone.

Luke nodded and sat back down. His blue eyes half-closed and he slipped into a deep trance. He had to find out what Setsuna was talking about. He had to!

The next morning
Hotaru bounded down the street to Jubaan High. She arrived at school early and ran in, brushing past her friends. “Sorry, Asuka!“ she shouted.

Asuka Langley once more gritted her teeth as Hotaru bolted down the hall. “Watch where you’re going!” she shouted, shaking her fist. “Honestly, Shinji! She does this every time!”

Next to her, Ikari Shinji shrugged. “It’s not too bad, Asuka. She’s never actually collided with you, after all.” He hefted his book bag. “Now come on. We don’t wanna be late on our first day back. And I think Rei’s back from the hospital.”

Hotaru quickly arrived at class 3-1 and went to her desk. All around her, the various students congregated in small groups. Naruto stood with Sakura and Hinata while Uchiha Sasuke stood behind him. Asuka and Shinji entered and walked over to a girl with short blue hair and piercing red eyes.

Hotaru didn’t belong to any clique in school, though, and she was glad that she didn’t. The Sailor Senshi and Jedi Order took up enough of her time.

While she readied her books and supplies, she felt a young one approach. She looked to her right as child prodigy and good friend Mihama Chiyo walked up. She bowed to Hotaru and spoke up in her soft voice. “Hello, Miss Tomoe. How was your vacation?”

The older girl smiled, returned the bow and spoke. “It was good, Chiyo-chan. I went to America with my guardians Haruka and Michiru.”

Chiyo-Chan’s already wide eyes expanded to the size of saucers. “America? Wow! I’ve never been to America before.”

Hotaru opened her mouth again, but her danger sense flared. She deftly stepped to the side just as classmate Takino Tomo aimed a karate chop at her. The hyper 16-year old stumbled a bit and almost fell over Hotaru’s desk, but the Jedi caught her and telekinetically straightened her out.

Tomo straightened out her school uniform. “Well, someone’s been working out!” she smiled lopsidedly, but Hotaru merely glared at her.

“Your devil-may-care attitude will be the death of you, Tomo.” she said. “Or it may get someone else hurt!“

The teen simply scoffed and waved Hotaru off. “Yeah, yeah. Yomi’s been telling me that every day.”

At that, an older teen looked over with her brown eyes and sighed. She adjusted her glasses and got to her feet. “Tomo, shut up,” Mizuhara Yomi growled. She walked over with a rolled up notebook and tried swatting Tomo, but the hyperactive teen was too fast.

Chiyo and Hotaru let out simultaneous exhalations. “Those two are insane,” Chiyo-chan said.

Hotaru shrugged. “No. Tomo’s insane, and she’s trying to drive Yomi insane for the company.” Chiyo-chan laughed at that, but Hotaru was surprised when she heard another laugh behind her! She turned around and saw another classmate standing behind her. Why didn’t I sense her? “When did you get there, Osaka?”

Ayumu Kasugu-AKA Osaka-looked up slightly at Hotaru with her big, almost childlike brown eyes. “Oh, I was always here Hotaru. You just never noticed me until now.” Her eyes wandered around, finally settling on Hotaru’s backpack. “What’s in here?” she asked, reaching to it.

Hotaru abruptly grabbed Osaka’s arm and reached out with the Force. “You don’t need to know that.”

Osaka looked up at her. “Oh, sorry. Still, I am a little curious.”

Hotaru took a step back in shock. Beside her, Chiyo-chan’s eyes were blank. “I don’t need to know that,” she repeated, rocking back and forth a little.

Hotaru ran her hand through her short, midnight-black hair. Why didn’t my Force suggestion work on Osaka?

The spacey teen’s eyes focused on Hotaru. “Umm, what’s a ‘Force suggestion’?” The Senshi of death immediately turned from Osaka, her pale cheeks flushing bright red. Osaka leaned to her right and looked around. “Are you all right, Hotaru?”

She nodded furiously and was saved from formulating a response when an Amazonian student walked over. San Sakaki looked down at Osaka. “Osaka, have you caught the bubbles floating in front of your eyes yet?”

Osaka’s face broke into a wide smile. “No, but I’m gonna catch ‘em today!” her eyes began wandering, followed by her entire head.

Hotaru bowed and spoke to Sakaki. “Thank you, Sakaki.”

Sakaki let a small smile play across her normally serious face. “It’s all right. Say, how was America?”

Hotaru swallowed slightly and her mind worked on a good answer to the question. Although she didn’t go to America this Summer, she had gone there three times previously.

Before she could speak, the door slammed open. A woman in her mid-thirties stormed to the front. “All right! Class is now in session!” she yelled. Tanizaki Yukari looked over the settling class. “So, how was everyone’s vacation? Did you all have ‘fun’?” The last word positively dripped with sarcasm.

Naruto stood up, thrust a clenched fist into the air and half-shouted, “I went over to Hinata’s house, Yukari baby!” He flashed a thumbs-up at the teacher, who rolled her brown eyes and leaned on her desk-heavily.

“I’m tired already,” she mumbled.

Hotaru then knew it was gonna be a long year.
*****
Several hours later
Hotaru sat in the school cafeteria with Sakaki and Chiyo-chan. She regaled them with tales of her trips to America, taking care not to mention that these particular tales took place almost three or four years ago. “Michiru’s concert with the Boston Pops was considered by many critics to be the epitome of perfection,” Hotaru said between bites of her food.

Chiyo-chan nodded and spoke up. “Did you get caught in many traffic jams? I’ve heard Boston traffic can be the worst in the country.”

The raven-haired girl shrugged. “It wasn’t too bad.”

Just then, Tomo and Yomi sat down. “I think the main question is, did you meet any cute American boys?” Tomo asked, grinning. Hotaru looked away, but Tomo still caught a hint of blush in her cheeks. She stood up and pointed at her. “Aha! You did meet a cute boy!” She held her hand to her forehead and sighed melodramatically. “Oh, why can’t I find true love in the arms of a stranger?”

Yomi abruptly grabbed Tomo’s uniform sleeve and pulled her down. “You’re embarrassing us,” she hissed.

Hotaru spoke up while Tomo was pulled back down. “His name is Anakin Solo,” she whispered. Sakaki and Chiyo-chan leaned in while Hotaru’s violet eyes flashed with memories. “He’s smart and kind-“

Tomo interrupted her. “Did you kiss him?”

Hotaru’s anger rose a bit, but she tamped it down. She locked eyes with Tomo and reached out with the Force. “You don’t need to know that,” she intoned, waving her hand.

The hyperactive teen sat back down and dully said, “I don’t need to know that.”

Yomi’s eyebrows arched in surprise. “How’d you do that, Hotaru?”

The slim teen smiled mysteriously. “Oh, I have my ways.”

Ami walked down the hallway of an apartment building in downtown Jubaan clutching her purse in one hand and balancing a cake on the palm of her other hand. She stopped in front of room 211 and reached out with the Force, telekinetically striking the wooden door once.

She waited a minute and readied another, but before she could strike it again, it opened, revealing a young man about Ami’s age. Urawa Ryo looked her over and said, “Hi, Ami. I was expecting you.” He then motioned for her to enter and took the cake off her hand. “So, how is it being a Jedi Knight?”

A gasp escaped Ami’s lips. “Ryo, I thought your psychic abilities were gone!”

Ryo shook his head. “No. They never really went away, and they’ve actually gotten more powerful.”

Ami noted the haunted look in his eyes and she placed a comforting hand on his left arm. “Are you all right?”

He shrugged nonchalantly, but Ami felt nervousness beneath his calm veneer. “I’m not entirely sure. I see a great battle, but it takes place in an asteroid belt.” He looked up and locked eyes with Ami’s blue orbs. “But it won’t be for a long time.” A smile spread across his handsome features as he sat down on his couch and motioned for her to follow. “So, how’s Tokyo University?”

The blue-haired genius sat next to him. “Oh, it’s not too bad.”

A chuckle escaped his lips. “Ami, you’ve been ranked number one every year since you began going there.” He leaned back and ran his fingers through his short, brown hair. “I can never hope to compete with you again, not that I’d want to.”

Ami clutched her purse tightly, only half-listening to Ryo. She gathered up her courage and turned her head to look at him.

Before she could speak, Ryo looked over and spoke. “I love you too, Ami.”

A gasp escaped her lips. “How did you-“ She cut herself off when she remembered his psychic abilities. “Oh of course.”

Ryo nodded and kissed her on the cheek. “Would you like to go somewhere? I got paid today, and I have some extra money.”

Ami nodded. “That would be…wonderful.”

He stood up and took her hand as she rose to her feet. The psychic and the knight then left the apartment building and went out for a night on the town.
