Yay for backup, yes. You ordered them there, after all.

*eyes begin flaming* *stands erect with hand clenched in front of her* Earth shall not fall on MY watch!!! angry tongue

“I can’t believe they’re gone,“ he whispered. “Wedge and Wes…”

Poor Luke... *pats shoulder* Now he's the only surviving X-Wing pilot from the first Death Star. Or, at least Red Squadron.

Pure, unadulterated anger pulsed from the Jedi Master. “Those freaks!” he shouted, standing up. “How dare they defile my sister’s homeworld! How dare hey kill my friends!”

O_O Wow... Luke's so mad he used the "f" word. *ducks until super-cool Mara brings him back under control in a satisfying reversal of typical rols... wink *

~Luke, who was busy shooting down multiple Charon fighters in order to ‘vent‘ his frustration, spoke up. “But how?”
~Mara looked askance at the floor. “Wait…an idea’s coming.”
~Luke picked up on it through their Force bond. “The maneuvering thrusters? What about them?”

*squeals!* They're so cute! They're so cool! And I love Luke venting his agressions... mischief

Mara let an evil grin form on her face. “Have all thruster vents close while they‘re going at full thrust. That’ll force the plasma back into the fuel lines and blow them up.”

*Jaded_Girl's inner "Adam Savage" comes to the forefront as she begins laughing maniacally in exultant, destructive glee*

The former Emperor’s Hand was interrupted by a shout from Ami. “STOP THE SHIP!”

Oh, now THAT sounds promising... devil Go Ami-chan!!!

She took a deep breath, and before anyone could interrupt her, Mizuno Ami went super geek.

Awww! She's so cute! ^_^ love

Her husband shrugged, his cape bobbing a bit. “Well, I can’t. This place is… getting to me.”

^_^ I love Luke.

She studied the image for a moment before hitting another button on the armrest. “Central Command, send a message to Fleet Group Pestilence. Have them reduce Yavin IV to ash.”

shock AHHHHHH!!! cry Hurry! This does not bode well!

Up up up! We have to warn Yavin 4 in time! sad

LOL! As much as I like Ami, she can make the transition into super-geek REALLY easily.

Oh man...those Charon were trying to steal all the Corellian shipyards?! It's VERY good that they only managed to capture a handful of them...

Idrelle-Thanks. happy I hope you like what I've done so far, too...

SSM12-Well, to play Unicron's advocate, not like she knew there was a Charon there. Heck, neither Luke nor Mara detected it. And she will... eventually.

Ish-LOL. Glad you like that one. And thanks. I try on my action scenes. happy

Taeniaea-Thanks. happy

Jaded_Girl-*Stands in awe of Sailor Moon-esque pose* Whoa... nice. happy Of course Luke's mad, there. And glad you like his Force bond with Mara. Ah, yes. I remember your Mythbusters quote in your sig a while back. Glad you like Mara's solution. Yes, Ami-chan's cute.

baf-Yes, she can. But that's why I like her. wink And yes, very good they were mostly thwarted.

Okay... this is a monster post. You have been warned... seriously. 17 pages pre-editing! I couldn't leave it alone until it was done. *Sigh* We need a sweatdrop emoticon. ^_^;;

Also, due to real life, next week's post will be on Monday instead of Sunday. Sorry. sad

Here we go!

*****
Tatooine, earlier that standard day
The Third Chance’s ion engines blazed, shooting the freighter along as fast as Anja dared, pushing past the redlines. About five kilometers behind, a single Charon battleship closed in, weapons hot.

The modified freighter bucked as several turbolaser bolts narrowly missed. Sannah operated the aft torpedo launchers from her customary position at copilot’s chair. “We’re gonna die. We’re gonna die. We’re gonna die,” she muttered over and over.

Anja growled and smacked the Melodie on the back of her head. “Will you shut up?” She flipped a switch on her control panel and spoke into a microphone in front of her. “Haruka, Michiru, how are you two doing?”

Amidships, two quad lasers jutted out from the starboard and port sides of the Barloz-class freighter. Haruka’s thumb was practically glued to the firing trigger and the quad laser battery was pointing straight back at the 1,000-meter long battleship. The blond Senshi adjusted her headset and snarled. “We are shooting rubber bullets at a tank, Anja.”

Michiru, in the starboard turret, nodded in agreement with her best friend. “She’s right. Give me a moment.” And with that, she unbuckled her crash webbing and headed for the main cabin.

Sannah’s yellow eyes glanced over the readouts even while the ship bucked and shuddered. “Our shields are down to 20%. They’ll need only two direct hits to kill us.”

Anja gritted her teeth as she noted the starboard turret powering down. “Michiru, what the hell are you doing?”

In the main cabin, the elegant woman held up her right hand and concentrated, summoning her transformation wand. Michiru then shouted, “Neptune Crystal Power Makeup!” A half-second later, she stood in her Senshi uniform. “I am the pretty sailor-suited soldier Sailor Neptune,” she said, posing for a moment.

Anja shouted into the comm. “Great, now do something!”

Neptune rolled her blue eyes before walking over to an airlock. She opened the inner door, stepped through and activated the air pumps, draining it of air. She then clipped a tether to her uniform before opening the outer door and stepping out into infinity.

She concentrated a bit, telekinetically ’latching’ her feet to the armored hull of the Third Chance. She turned to the battleship and raised her hands above her head, gathering energy. A watery sphere of energy formed in the palms of her gloved hands.

Deep…Submerge! She thought, lowering her arms and letting the sphere blast off at near high speeds to the battleship. It impacted the shields and punched through, gouging out a hole in the main hull.

The battleship shuddered, but pressed its attack. Neptune’s eyes narrowed. I see you need a better lesson. She half-closed her eyes and reached out to her friend. Haruka, will you please join me on the hull?

Haruka smirked and jumped from the quad battery‘s seat. Five minutes later, Sailor Uranus stood next to Neptune, lightsaber and space sword at the ready. She raised the two weapons up high and brought them down while thinking, Double Space Sword Blaster!

Twin energy blades shot forth from the slashing of the blades speeding off to the battleship, striking the hull and ripping through the base of one of the main turbolaser cannons.

Uranus pumped her fist in the air, but the battleship kept coming. Uranus and Neptune soon turned and headed back inside the ship as the temperature outside started rising.

By now, the Third Chance was skimming Tatooine’s atmosphere, Several other freighters nearby. “This is the independent freighter Outrider, can you please tell me what the hell that thing is?”

Sannah contacted the YT-2400 freighter. “Dash, haven’t you and that android girlfriend of yours been watching the news?”

A normally cocky voice came over, not as cocky as usual. “Umm, we’ve been busy.”

The young Jedi growled. “Well, start reading, flyboy! You’ve got about twenty minutes until that battleship makes planetfall.”

On the Outrider, Dash Rendar turned to his partner, a human replica droid named Guri. “Guri, my dear. Could you-“

She turned her head to him and interrupted the smuggler. “I already did, and we’re screwed.”

Dash let out a nervous chuckle and turned back to the comm. “Hey, Sannah? Is there any chance you could use a Jedi mind trick on Anja and have her lead that thing off?”

Anja’s voice barked through the speaker grille, startling the smuggler. “I heard that, slime! You want me to fire off a few Tibanna Flames at you?”

Dash leaned back in his chair and wiped his forehead with his sleeve. “No, that’s all right.” He watched as the Third Chance descended through Tatooine’s thin atmosphere, followed by that battleship. “This is not good…” He pulled back on the throttle, sending the Outrider after them.

The Third Chance landed at Mos Eisley, followed by the Outrider landing in the next pit. Anja’s brown eyes looked at the sensors as they showed the Charon battleship barely landing twenty kilometers outside of the city.

It touched down, rebounding before finally landing. Two aft hatches opened and landing ramps extended, allowing thousands of Charon warriors to exit and begin making their way to the city.

Anja and Sannah bolted out of the cockpit and met up with Uranus and Neptune. The two Senshi glanced at the main hatch. “I’ve never been to Tatooine before,” Uranus remarked.

Sannah’s yellow eyes shone as she responded. “Congratulations, Haruka. You and Michiru here are probably the last being in this galaxy not to land here.”

Neptune twirled a lock of her aquamarine hair around a finger. “Is it humid out there?”

Anja suppressed a shudder. “Slightly.”

The hatch opened and a last of heat slammed into both Senshi. Neptune felt herself virtually melt as she and Uranus walked across the stone landing pit. Anja and Sannah walked behind them, barely stifling insane giggles at the haughty Senshi’s discomfort.

They left the pit and made their way to the next one over. A middle-aged Corellian stood there with a statuesque blond woman. Dash Rendar slicked his graying hair back and walked up to Neptune and Uranus. “Hey, ladies. How are you fine specimens doing?”

Both Senshi rolled their blue eyes in disgust. Neptune looked over her shoulder at Anja. “Please, tell me he’s not serious.”

The brown-haired pilot chuckled and walked forward. Her smile changed into a sneer, and before Dash could react, Anja’s right hand curled into a fist and smacked into his nose.

Blood streamed from his nose and he staggered back. A howl of pain came from his lips as he clutched his nose. “Ow!”

Guri sighed and walked up to the four ladies. “I must apologize for him. Dash is a bit of a ladies man.”

Anja leaned to her left and smiled at the android. “How are you, Guri? You and Leebo keeping him in line?”

The human replica droid nodded. “Yes, but enough about us. We need to do something about these Charon.”

The smuggler nodded, a grim look crossing her face. “Yeah. Let’s head over to Chalmun’s Cantina” She took off and headed out, followed closely by Sannah. Uranus and Neptune closed ranks while a still-bleeding Dash and slightly embarrassed Guri took up the rear.

Panic reigned in the streets as they marched forth. Aliens and humans milled about haphazardly while street vendors closed up shop. Neptune scanned the area with both her eyes and the Force. “They know something is coming, but how?”

Anja’s brown eyes scanned the crowd. “My guess is someone saw the Charon landing. All it took was one loose pair of lips…”

The sextet came up to a stark-white building, Chalmun’s Cantina. Anja turned back to the others. “If any organized defense can be mounted, then it’ll be from here.” A smile crossed her lips. “Just follow my lead.” And with that, she walked in.

Sannah looked up slightly at Uranus with her pale yellow eyes and smirk on her lips. “And if you’ll follow my lead, we might get something done here.”

Smiles cracked Uranus and Neptune’s grim visages as they entered the darkened cantina. The bar was crowded with freighter pilots and other patrons and a definite air of panic, and you did not have to be Force sensitive to pick it up.

Anja walked over, leapt onto the bar and held out her hand, summoning her transformation wand. She held it up and shouted, “Bespin Power Makeup!”

A bright orange cloud surrounded the woman, melting her clothes and reforming them into a Sailor Fuku complete with a dark orange bow and matching miniskirt. High heels and elbow-length gloves completed the look.

Everyone looked up at her, most with mouths open in astonishment. Sailor Bespin scanned the crowd with her brown eyes and nodded slightly. “Good, I’ve got your attention.” She cleared her throat and spoke loudly enough for everyone to hear. “All right, boys and girls! We’ve got an invasion by some very nasty creatures. They’re called the Charon, and they’re here to kill us.”

Someone shouted from the back. “Then we’ll just surrender or run!”

A murmur of agreement from the crowd ran through the crowd, but Sannah suddenly hopped up onto the bar. “And where the hell do you think you’ll run to?” She pointed to the door. “Those things out there have been genetically engineered not to die from old age. They’ll hunt you down like Nek battle dogs and kill you. It’s their whole purpose in life.”

Her yellow eyes reflected the few lights in the bar, giving her an eerie look. “And surrendering? Hah! They’ll thank you for saving them the trouble of hunting you down and kill you right there.” She shook her head, sending her curly brown hair swishing about. “We stop them, or we die. There is no middle ground.”

The crowd became deathly quiet. Suddenly, the three Force-sensitive ladies glanced up at one of the entrances.

Three beings walked in, one of them shouting, “Oh, wow! It’s great to see you again!” Tahiri slid through the crowd and ran up to Uranus and Neptune, jabbering all the while. “It’s so good to see you again! How’s Earth? Is Kyp giving you any trouble? How is Usagi and Mamoru? Is she pregnant with that annoying pink-haired girl yet?”

Uranus and Neptune exchanged worried glances, but Lusa Thul trotted over and grabbed her gently by the arm. “Come on, Tahiri.” The blond Jedi nodded and was led back to Raynar. He looked up and spoke. “What can we do to help?”

Sailor Bespin leapt off the bar. “What are you three doing here?”

Raynar walked over to her and shrugged. “We were on our way to Yavin from a mission on Geonosis, but our hyperdrive became ‘cranky’. We put down here for repairs, but we got caught in this.” His blue eyes sparkled a bit. “So, what can we do?”

Sailor Bespin smiled and looked about the room. Everyone wore looks of grim determination on their faces, and she also noted everyone looking at her, almost as if they expected her to lead them.

She looked back at Uranus and Neptune and both Senshi stared right back at her. “You got the ball rolling, Anja,” Uranus said.

Neptune held her hand up to her chin while she spoke. “Can you handle it?”

Bespin’s mouth twisted into a wry grin. “Watch me.” She turned back to the crowd and walked forward. “Dash, you take some people and raid the old Imperial garrison here. There’s gotta be something there we can use. Lusa, Raynar, go out to the edge of the city and be lookouts. If you see them coming, send Sannah a message through the Force.” She finally looked to Uranus and Neptune. “You two find some place high and near the edge of the city. When the Charon approach Mos Eisley, start firing off your attacks like there’s no tomorrow.”

Uranus and Neptune left the cantina and headed to the edge of the city, followed by Lusa and Raynar.

Tahiri suddenly shouted and waved her arms about. “I need a speeder bike!” Everyone turned to look at the blond with looks varying from confusion to vague hostility, but she stood her ground. “I know some people who’ll help.”

An old man hobbled up to Tahiri and held out a set of keys. “My old speeder bike’s out back. I’ll lend it to you.”

The young blond flashed him a toothy grin, causing his heart to skip a beat. She levitated the keys into her hand and shouted, “Thanks!” before running out back. She quickly located the only speeder bike there, but before she started it, she held out her right hand and concentrated.

An ornate rod appeared in it and she held it to the sky. “Tatooine Star Power Makeup!” A sandstorm enveloped her, reforming her clothes into a Sailor Fuku complete with a dark yellow skirt and bow. Matching knee-high boots and elbow length gloves completed the ensemble.

She reflexively posed for a bit before leaping onto the bike and starting her up. She sent a telepathic message to Raynar and Lusa. I’ll be back. Then the blond Senshi sped off into the desert, a cloud of dust trailing behind the bike.

Lusa and Raynar observed her speeding off. “She’s not doing that,” Raynar said dryly. “Tell me she’s not going where I think she’s going.”

Lusa smiled at her husband and patted him on the shoulder. “All right, I won’t.” A mischievous glint flashed in her brown eyes before she continued. “But it won’t change the fact that she’s going there.”

A groan came from Raynar even as the merchant Jedi approached the edge of the city. He pulled down on a pair of goggles on his head and covered his eyes with them.

Lusa copied his movements and they stretched out with the Force-and nearly passed out. Raynar slumped against a stone wall while Lusa’s forelegs buckled and gave out. “My…god!” she gasped out. “It’s pure hate marching at us.”

Raynar grabbed a pair of macro-binoculars from a pocket and raised them to his eyes with shaky hands. After a few seconds, he saw a black mass marching toward the city at high speed. He reached out and sent Sannah a message through the Force. They’ll be here soon, within the next thirty minutes.

In the cantina, Sannah looked up at Sailor Bespin. “They approach. Now can I say we’re all gonna die?”

Bespin shook her head. “No.” She then turned to the impromptu fighting force assembled before her. “All right. Listen up!” The crowd quieted down and everyone turned to her, causing her to have a bout of stage freight. She shook her head and blinked several times to clear her head.

“I want the most heavily-armed people on the edge of the city. Don’t bother with anything fancy; just shoot right into the crowd.” She looked around. “Who’s good at hand-to-hand?” About a half-dozen hands shot up and she pointed to each of them. “You people stay in back, just in case they break through.” Bespin focused on those looking the most scared. “I can’t promise you we’ll win here, but if we don’t at least try, then we’ll die for nothing.”

She turned and strode outside, followed by everyone. “You see them?” she asked, motioning to the closed shops and hiding people. “They’re your friends and family. We owe it to them to fight with all our heart.” She clenched her gloved fist and raised it high. “Are you with me?”

Any doubts she had were blown away when they all shouted, “YEAH!”

Over in the old garrison, Guri inputted a code into the old entrance. Dash watched her actions with skeptical eyes. “Umm, is this gonna work?”

Guri looked over at him with dispassionate blue eyes. “Unlike everywhere else in the galaxy, the abandonment of the garrison was orderly.” The panel triple-beeped and the door slid open.

Dash whistled as they entered the old fort. He held up a flashlight and flicked it on, sending out a pale yellow beam. Guri, meanwhile marched forth, knowing precisely where she had to go.

Two minutes later, she reached a door to the main hangar bay. Her droid brain calculated the chances of finding anything useful, but quickly disregarded it.

Dash shone a light on the control panel. “You got the codes for this one too?”

Guri smiled and grabbed a side of the door. Her fingers dug in and, with a tremendous screech, the door slid open. The human replica droid motioned to Dash. “After you.”

The smuggler entered the hangar and waved the light about, not sure of what to expect. The beam of light rapidly landed something of interest. “Woah.”

Even Guri let out a low whistle. “I do believe we found something useful,” she muttered as her gaze traveled to the top of the Imperial All Terrain Armored Transport.

Dash glanced over into the darkness at the main door. “One problem, though. How are we gonna get it out?”
*****
Five minutes later
A large explosion rocked the side of the garrison, pelting rooftops with chunks of duracrete. As the dust cloud cleared, the scattering people saw a very large silhouette emerge from an equally large hole in the wall.

In the walker’s cockpit, an almost gleeful Guri played the roles of pilot and gunner. The human replica droid steered the behemoth down the streets and pointed it straight at the approaching horde of Charon. Several street kiosks were crushed under the walker‘s feet, along with the destruction of probably thirty rooftops, but Guri ‘logically’ concluded that no one would really mind.

While the AT-AT lumbered to the city edge, Sailors Uranus and Neptune stood on rooftops, weapons ready. Only three hundred meters ahead, a swarm of over fifty thousand Charon approached, accompanied by thirty starfighters.

Neptune scanned the crowd and let out a low whistle. “How did they pack so many troops onto one ship?”

Uranus glanced over at her while raising her lightsaber and space sword high. “Comfort probably isn’t high on their list.” She brought the lightsaber and space sword down and shouted, “Double Space Sword Blaster!” Twin energy crescents shot off from the edges and flew off, hitting the middle of the horde and blowing up several dozen Charon.

The rest paid their comrades’ deaths no mind and charged at Mos Eisley.

Sailor Bespin’s impromptu army was on the outskirts of Mos Eisley. She and Sailor Melodie stood in the middle, hands poised and glowing. “Remember, we must face them down,” she shouted. He gloved hands were wreathed in flames as she yelled, “Tibanna Flames!” She tossed yellowish fireballs at the Charon.

Sailor Melodie held out her hand. “Claw of Death!” the Melodie shouted. A purple energy boomerang appeared in her hand. She reared back and threw it at the Charon. It cut through their ranks like a scythe through wheat before returning to her hand.

Finally, the smugglers and pilots held their weapons up and lay down a withering hail of fire into the Charon horde. Blood-red laser bolts and missiles shot out, carving their way into the humanoid arachnids-but they kept coming. And now they began returning fire. A solid wall of blaster fire erupted from them, blowing out chunks of buildings and killing many of the defenders.

At the far end of the battlefield, Guri’s AT-AT stomped into view. She reached up and pulled down a targeting scope mounted on the overhead bulkhead. “This might sting a bit,” she muttered before stabbing the firing trigger.

Heavy blaster cannons suspended below the AT-AT’s ‘chin’ fired, blowing large holes in the Charon horde and killing dozens with each blast. Unfortunately, the horde had reached Mos Eisley by the time she engaged them.

Bespin shouted, “Hold the line!” as they hit. Neptune and Uranus leapt down from the rooftops and landed in the middle, lightsabers out and ignited. Both Senshi carved a swath through the Charon’s ranks, but the main force swarmed around and pressed on into the city.

Bespin’s hands were wreathed in flames as she punched her way through Charon, setting them on fire with each hit. Melodie, meanwhile, used her Purella Ensnarement to entangle two to three Charon at a time before moving in with her lightsaber or tossing her Claw of Death at them.

Uranus and Neptune stood back to back as they fought. Neptune’s aquamarine-colored blade was a whirlwind as she serenely cut through her opposition. Neptune, meanwhile, had a snarl on her face as her lightsaber and space sword slashed and thrust. They’re not very good, are they? Neptune telepathically sent to her best friend.

Uranus’ blue eyes narrowed as she jumped up and decapitated a Charon with a single swipe. Don’t get cocky, Michiru. Remember when we fought Mara and she kicked our butts.

Neptune’s lightsaber obliquely struck a Charon’s spear and skidded off the enchanted metal, but she simply followed through with the momentum and turned around on her heel, sweeping low and cutting his legs out from under him. As he fell, she stabbed him in the chest. These…things are not Mara.

Uranus raised her weapons high and deflected a blaster bolt back to the Charon firing it, carving out a hole in his humanoid chest. She then jumped up and sliced her lightsaber and space sword down again. “Double Space Sword Blaster!” she yelled, firing off twin energy crescents. They plowed through the ranks of the Charon, killing over a dozen each.

However, those killed were drops in the river. The Charon surged forward, overwhelming Sailor Bespin’s force and pushed them into the city. Guri’s AT-AT reached the outskirts of the horde, but the Charon fighters swooped in and started strafing runs on the behemoth.

The walker’s head elevated and started shooting at the fighters, but they easily dodged out of the way -and right into the path of the Outrider’s two double laser cannons. Three were immediately blown from the sky and fell to the desert below as smoking piles of scrap.

In the Outrider’s cockpit, Dash slapped his droid Leebo on the back as he piloted the freighter. “Nice flying, buddy!” he shouted.

The LE repair droid canted his head up and down. “Thank you, Sir.” He then pointed to a spot out in the middle of the sky. “Please fire both cannons…now.”

Dash pressed the firing trigger and skewered a Charon fighter just as it banked left into that empty patch of sky.

Unfortunately, the Charon continued to press into the city, separating Bespin and Melodie from the rest of their army. “This is not good,” Melodie muttered.

Bespin’s head whipped around, and she looked down at the younger Senshi. “Damn it, Sannah! Don’t you have anything useful to say?”

Melodie’s face fell. She glanced about and stammered slightly. “I’m…I’m sorry.” Bespin regretted her words. Before she could speak, Melodie’s yellow eyes went wide. “Look out!” she screamed, tackling Bespin and shoving her out of the way as a Charon fired a blaster pistol at the Senshi of perseverance.

It missed Bespin, but hit Melodie right in her left flank. Bespin shouted. “Tibanna Flames!” Her right hand was engulfed in fire as she threw off a fireball at the Charonian, incinerating him.

Bespin immediately crawled over to her best friend. “Sannah! Sannah!” she shouted.

The Senshi lay there, clutching her side. “That…really hurt.” There was a small bloodstain on the wound, but it had mostly stopped.

“Jedi Healing trance?” Bespin asked.

Melodie nodded. “Yeah, and Luna was right. These Senshi uniforms are pretty tough.”

Bespin shuffled around while crouching scanned the area. The Charon were ignoring them for the moment, so she turned back to Melodie. “Can you move?”

The younger Senshi nodded curtly and allowed Bespin to help her up. A groan escaped her lips, but she waved off Bespin’s inquiries. “We gotta take these freaks out.”

Bespin nodded. “Yeah, but how?” She motioned to the scene before them. The Charon fought the denizens of Mos Eisley house to house. Uranus and Neptune tried their best, but even those two could only do so much.

The sound of a horn wafted through the air, startling everyone. Charon and smugglers paused in their fighting as it sounded once more, lingering on the wind. Bespin and Melodie got to their feet and leapt to the top of a building. They looked out across the desert.

At the edge of the horizon, a lone human female stood. She held a stick high and dropped it down, pointing at Mos Eisley.

Bespin turned to Melodie, but before she could ask, the Senshi of entrapment nodded and spoke. “Yup, that’s Tahiri. And it looks like she brought friends.”

Across the sands, Sailor Tatooine stood tall on the top of a dune. She looked over her shoulder with her blue eyes and smiled. “They’re all yours.”

Sliven nodded at his adopted daughter and turned to the rest of the Tusken Raiders. [Kill the spider people!]

A black wave of Tusken Raiders popped up over the sand dune. gaffi sticks and blaster rifles raised high and war cries shouted to the twin suns.

Sailor Tatooine struck the sands with her gaffi stick and shouted, “Tatooine Sandblast!” The winds of Tatooine swirled around her, kicking up the sands and blasting them full force at the Charon’s rearguard. In two minutes, over ten thousand Charon were turned into mummified corpses, their bodies stripped of all moisture.

Over ten thousand Tusken Raiders swept down the hill and hit the Charon with the force of a dozen sandstorms. They crashed through the arachnid’s lines, initiating hand to hand combat. Gaffi sticks and spears clashed while pistols and rifles fired blood-red bolts nonstop.

The outcome, however, was never in doubt. The Charon had fought for nearly two hours while the Tuskens were fresh. After three more hours, the last Charon was decapitated by Sailor Chiron‘s lightsaber, ending the Battle of Tatooine.

Sliven approached Sailors Bespin and Melodie, gaffi stick held out in front of him. “Together, we fought as one,” he rasped out.

Bespin took the stick and held it high while the survivors of Mos Eisley cheered behind. There were relatively few casualties, but the structural damage was immense. Between Guri’s walk through the town in her AT-AT and the street fighting later on, over half the town was in ruins.

As Neptune looked about, she turned to Uranus and, with her hand to her chin in thought, spoke. “You know what? The town doesn’t look all that much different.”

Before anyone could react, a large ornate door appeared in the middle of the street. While the townspeople and Tuskens backed away in fright, Melodie, Bespin, Raynar, Chiron, Tatooine, Uranus and Neptune walked up to it. “What’s Setsuna doing here?” Sailor Chiron asked.

The door swung open and Sailor Pluto stepped out, ethereal fog winding about her legs. She motioned to everyone with the time staff. “We need you on Yavin. A plan is in motion to stop the Charon.”

Raynar stepped forward. His robe was in tatters and there was a nasty cut above his left eye, but his face was a mask of steel. “Then you will have us.”

Pluto nodded at him and motioned to the time gate. “Excellent. We must stop off at Earth, however.”

The seven beings followed Pluto through the time gate, but not before Sailor Tatooine gave Sliven a hug. “I’ll be back!”

The aged Tusken nodded as his daughter let go and vanished into the doorway. “Stay safe, young one.”

Excellent chapter man. The first real victory of the war where the people of Tatooine finally stood united against a common foe. Bout time, I'd say. And now they're going to go to Earth again, huh?

Great update right there, Stryker. I love the whole Tatooine uniting to fight scenario. That was great.

*Sigh* We need a sweatdrop emoticon.

TOTALLY. *folds arms and nods sagely*

The blond Senshi adjusted her headset and snarled. “We are shooting rubber bullets at a tank, Anja.”

*Jaded_Girl laughs, but feels vaguely guilty about it, the situation being so dire and all...* tongue

Whoo hoo! Go Michiru and Haruka! XD

A normally cocky voice came over, not as cocky as usual. “Umm, we’ve been busy.”

O_o -_-;

Sannah’s yellow eyes shone as she responded. “Congratulations, Haruka. You and Michiru here are probably the last being in this galaxy not to land here.”

Oi vey, and how! -_-;;; grin

~Neptune twirled a lock of her aquamarine hair around a finger. “Is it humid out there?”
~Anja suppressed a shudder. “Slightly.”

*snort* Oh Anja, you are deliciously evil! devil love

Her yellow eyes reflected the few lights in the bar, giving her an eerie look.

Oooh. Cool mental visual. And great move by Anja to capture everyone's attention. mischief

Tahiri suddenly shouted and waved her arms about. “I need a speeder bike! ... I know some people who’ll help.”

*evil laugh of anticipation*

Raynar slumped against a stone wall while Lusa’s forelegs buckled and gave out. “My…god!” she gasped out. “It’s pure hate marching at us.”

sad What an awful thing to sense.

“I do believe we found something useful,” she muttered as her gaze traveled to the top of the Imperial All Terrain Armored Transport.

YES! Those things are so awesome!!!

~Dash glanced over into the darkness at the main door. “One problem, though. How are we gonna get it out?”
*Five minutes later*
~A large explosion rocked the side of the garrison...

laugh "Ask a silly question..." grin

Several street kiosks were crushed under the walker‘s feet, along with the destruction of probably thirty rooftops, but Guri ‘logically’ concluded that no one would really mind.

*Jaded_Girl raises an eyebrow at Guri's surprisingly selective logic* *Aww, who cares...*

The sound of a horn wafted through the air, startling everyone...

The following scene totally reminded me of Lord of the Rings, especially regarding the attack of the Rohirrim in RotK. Either way, great scene.

Sliven nodded at his adopted daughter and turned to the rest of the Tusken Raiders. [Kill the spider people!]

That's right. Keep it simple. grin

Yay for the Sandpeople! Maybe Tatooine will be one big happy family now! *crosses fingers*

Uppers! And Happy Holidays to everyone!!! hugs

Sugoi! Great chapter!

Wow...I think that's the first major battle on Tatooine in thousands of years! And...it looks as if Tatooine might be entering a Golden Age with the near-certainty that the Tusken Raiders will be more civil to their neighbors.

Hmm...the Senshi are about to go to Earth huh? Better watch out for all that Charon space debre(sp?) in orbit. grin

Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas this year!!

SSM12-Yeah, the first real one. About time for them to get along, yeah. Earth... later, IIRC.

Taeniaea-Thanks. happy

EarthKnight-Welcome back, and thanks.

Jaded_Girl-I'm glad you agree with me about the sweatdrop emoticon. Yes, Sannah's right to be a bit sick and tired of Tatooine showing up everywhere. Anja is evil, and I drew inspiration from that scene when originally writing it. The Tuskens practice 'Keep It Simple Stupid'. wink

baf-Thanks. happy Hopefully, yeah. Maybe they'll get along...

Happy holidays, everyone! hugs Thank you for reading my story. happy

Here we go!

*****
Yavin IV, just before Pluto left
The Jade Saber exited hyperspace with a flash of croneau radiation, quickly entering the atmosphere with glowing shields.

Luke turned from his copilot’s station and looked over his shoulder at Setsuna. “When we land, start getting everyone together. All right?”

Setsuna nodded, her right hand already clutching her transformation wand.

Ami’s blue eyes went side as she scanned local space. “Luke, we have an Imperial-class star destroyer off the port bow.”

The Jedi Master checked the scanners and smiled. He opened a comm channel to the star destroyer and spoke. “Hey, Booster. How’s it going?”

The voice of smuggler king Booster Terrik came through loud and clear. “Hey, Luke! How’s Valin and Jysella?”

Luke smiled, thinking for a moment. “They’re progressing along nicely.”

Booster’s laugh came over the com, followed by a more serious tone. “Look, pal. I’m ready to help out in any way I can. Just say the word.”

Luke nodded. “Thanks, Booster.”

While he and the elder smuggler talked, Mara landed the Saber in front of the Great Temple. Tionne, Kam, Minako, Rei, Dorsk 82 and Streen were already there, waiting for their friends.

Tionne walked up as Luke, Mara, Setsuna and Ami disembarked, but before anyone could say anything, Setsuna held her transformation wand high and shouted, “Pluto Crystal Power Makeup!” A bright light engulfed her, and when it faded, Sailor Pluto stood there with time staff in hand.

Tionne’s silvery eyes blinked twice. “Well, thanks for the warning,” she remarked dryly.

Pluto’s red eyes twinkled as she raised the time staff high and summoned the time gate. The onyx door appeared and opened, but before Pluto entered, she looked to the sky. “Well, my task shall be easier.” And with that, she entered the mists of time.

Luke glanced up at the sky and scanned the area with the Force. Mara did as well and smiled. She raised her comlink to her mouth. “Millennium Falcon, I am damned glad to see you.”

On the outer edge of the atmosphere, the old YT-1300 CEC freighter descended through the layers of gas, glowing white for a bit as air molecules struck the deflector shields and bounced off. Two minutes later, the Falcon landed next to the Saber with nary a bump.

The main ramp dropped, allowing Han, Leia, Anakin, Hotaru, Lowie, Raaba and Chewie to disembark. Chewie ran to Luke and wrapped the Jedi Master in a bear hug, lifting him off the ground. “Easy, Chewie!”

Han walked up to his brother-in-law with a slightly annoyed look on his face. “Umm, Luke. Could you possibly take Hotaru off my hands for a bit? Her little ‘doom and gloom’ act is really starting to wear on me.” He suddenly turned back, seeing Hotaru boring into him with her violet eyes. The former smuggler let out a nervous chuckle before walking off.

Anakin walked up to his uncle and bowed. “It’s been too long.”

Luke glanced at his nephew and his future niece. “It has.” Before he could speak again, everyone looked up again to the sky.

The unmistakable sound of the Lightning Rod’s engines filled the air even as the old freighter descended and landed on the other side of the Jade Saber. The ramp lowered and the main hatch opened, but before Jaina could get halfway down, she found herself being hugged by Leia. “I was so worried about you!”

Jaina returned the hug. “Thanks, Mom,” she said, smiling slightly.

Zekk walked down and joined his wife as she and Leia separated. All three walked down even as a Hapan passenger cruiser landed. A chuckle escaped Zekk’s lips. “Well, it looks like we’ll do the family reunion earlier than expected.”

Tenel Ka Djo-Solo and Jacen Djo-Solo emerged from the Steel Dragon. Everyone paused as they saw Jacen’s normally unruly brown hair slicked back and trimmed neatly, with a pair of black slacks and an expensive-looking shirt.

Tenel Ka, meanwhile, had on her old lizard skin armor, with gauntlets and greaves protecting her arms and legs.

Jaina stifled a giggle. “Well, I guess some things never change.” She gave Jacen a brief hug. “So, how’s Hapes been treating you lately?”

He shrugged. “Well, not too bad. I got most procedures and stuff like that down in the first year.” His brown eyes twinkled as he spoke the next words. “And of course, being married to the most beautiful woman in the galaxy is a plus.”

The Senshi of mechanics sighed and looked over at Tenel Ka while the princess was talking with Mara, Luke and Ami.

“You have a plan to stop the Charon?” she asked, gray eyes intense.

Ami nodded and looked over at Jaina. Her head twitched, motioning Jaina and Jacen over.

She and Jacen walked over to the quartet. “What’s up?”

Ami’s lips pursed before she explained the plan to her and Jaina’s brown eyes widened in shock. “Wait, wait. You want me to…wish them back to otherspace?”

Ami nodded while Tenel Ka’s gray eyes glanced back and forth at the two. “Would you be requiring Usagi for this as well?”

The blue-haired genius nodded, slightly dizzy from the head-bobbing. “Yes. Setsuna left to collect the other Senshi and Jedi before you got here.”

Mara chimed in. “Unfortunately, a Charon overheard us discussing the plan and… a fleet’s probably on its way.”

The Hapan princess let a half-smile cross her stoic features. “There are over a thousand Hapan warships in orbit, Mistress Jade,” she said, pointing to the heavens. “And they shall fight to the death to defend us.”

Mara smiled. “Nice job, Tenel Ka.” She looked about at everyone gathered around the landing field. “Now all we need is Setsuna to pull through for us.”

Jaina looked up and over Mara’s shoulder at the Jedi Academy. “I’d better get ready, then.” She unclipped her light saber and began walking over to the ancient structure, but paused and looked back at Zekk standing a few meters away.

“I can’t help you,” he said.

Jaina walked back to him, panic in her eyes. “What are you talking about?”

Zekk’s green eyes flashed and he looked to the side. “You and Usagi can use your Ginzoishous without aid, but someone’s gotta go to Alderaan and confront Calaveras, provide a distraction.” Jaina opened her mouth to protest, but he cut her off. “You know I’m right, Jaina.”

She suddenly ran to him, wrapped her arms around him and pulled him in for a kiss. Zekk ran his fingers through her long brown hair while Jaina’s slender fingers ran through Zekk’s long black hair. When they parted, Jaina whispered to him. “I love you.”

Zekk’s green eyes flashed with tears. “I love you too.” And with that, they parted.

Jaina turned and ran up the stairs, tears also falling from her brown eyes and to the stone steps under her feet.
*****
Tokyo, Japan
A large door appeared in the middle of downtown Juuban and opened, allowing Sailors Pluto, Uranus, Neptune, Bespin, Melodie, Tatooine, Chiron and Raynar to emerge.

Uranus’ blue eyes looked about the city, her mouth open in horror. “But-how did-when?” she sputtered out. All of the buildings were damaged to some extent, a half-dozen leveled. A haze clung to the air and irritated everyone while the cloying stench of death assaulted their noses.

Neptune half-closed her eyes and reached out with the Force and, A few seconds later, pointed to a large battle down the street. “Makoto, Kyp, Usagi and Mamoru are two blocks down.”

Everyone looked down the street as the Japanese Defense Forces and the United States Marines fought against the Charon invaders. Off to one side, Tuxedo Mask dueled with an absolutely huge Charon while Sailor Moon was on the ground with Luna. And in the middle of it all, Sailor Jupiter and Tuxedo Deyer stood back to back and cut through the Charonians with their lightsabers.

Neptune held her arms up and concentrated. A sphere of blue energy formed in her hands. “Deep…” she said, dropping her arms and firing off the sphere. “…Submerge!” The roiling aquamarine sphere incinerated a group of Charon that blocked the way to Jupiter and Deyer.

Both Jedi looked up and Jupiter shouted, “Well, I’m glad to see you!”

Deyer’s hand blurred as he threw a silver-petaled rose at a Charon stem-first. It embedded itself in the arachnid’s skull, dropping him to the ground. Both dashed over to Pluto and her group, utilizing the Force for extra speed. Deyer glanced at Raynar, Chiron and Tatooine. “Well, nice to see you three again.” He then looked up and into Pluto’s scarlet eyes. “I’ll assume someone’s got a plan for dealing with the bugs?”

Pluto nodded and explained Ami’s plan to Jupiter and Deyer.

Jupiter chuckled after Pluto finished. “Well, count on Ami to come up with a plan that might work.” She turned and looked back at Mask and the Prophet of the Void.

Mask’s lightsaber and cane stabbed and hacked at the Prophet, but the three-meter tall arachnid stood his ground, parrying Mask’s blows away, his four arms and incredible strength more than making up for his deficiency in skill.

He swiped a hairy arm at Mask, but he ducked and thrust at him with his silver-colored lightsaber. The Prophet knocked it away with his spear and swiped at him with his right arms. The Guardian ducked and rolled back.

He looked over and saw the group. Tuxedo Mask let out a sigh of relief and he sent a quick telepathic message I’m glad to see you here! Usagi needs medical attention.

Chiron’s brown eyes focused on Sailor Moon and she gasped. “Usagi’s got a mild concussion.” She galloped over to her and scooped her up into her arms. Chiron glanced at Tuxedo Mask and shouted, “Come on, Mamoru! We’re going to Yavin!”

Mask countered a swing from the Prophet with his cane and simultaneously deflected a laser bolt with his lightsaber. “I can’t leave!” He ducked and rolled back to Chiron’s position. “I’m the only one holding that guy back. Every time I retreat and try to help someone else, he starts Force shoving people into walls.”

A tired look swept over his features, and Chiron’s brown eyes locked with Mask’s blue orbs. Time slowed to a crawl for both of them before… “I’ll make sure Usagi’s all right,” Chiron said.

Tuxedo Mask nodded, glad that she understood. “Thank you, Lusa.” And with that, he leapt back into the fray.

Sailor Chiron galloped back to the group, Sailor Moon on her back and Luna trailing behind.

Moon’s eyes looked back at Tuxedo Mask and her right arm slowly raised, almost as if she was trying to reach back to him. “Mamoru…”

Pluto turned to the time gate and held her staff high, opening the door to infinity. All crossed the threshold-and found themselves in the Grand Audience Chamber, a dimension away.

Moon swung her legs around and dropped off of Chiron, only to stumble about in a dizzy haze. She felt someone grab her arm, steadying her mentally and physically. She looked to her left and saw Sailor Corellia there.

“Are you all right?” Corellia asked.

Luna’s yellow eyes looked up at Corellia. “She’s dizzy, and has had trouble concentrating.”

A groan escaped Corellia’s lips. “That’s not good. We’re gonna need her at full power to pull this off.”

Moon’s arm suddenly drew back, breaking Corellia’s grip. “I…am…FINE!” she shouted. “I’ll do what is necessary of me.” She looked around the room and saw everyone looking at her. “Please, tell me what to do.”

Sailor Mercury walked up to her best friend and explained the plan to her. Moon’s sapphire eyes widened. “You want me to do what?”

Mercury glanced at Corellia, then locked eyes with Moon. “Just link your powers with Jaina and let her handle the rest.”

Sailor Moon nodded and held out her hand, summoning her wand. A pink staff topped by a crescent moon appeared and she removed a crystal from the base of the crescent. The faceted gem floated out of her gloved hand, hovering in front of her chest.

Sailor Corellia, meanwhile, unclipped her lightsaber from her skirt and unscrewed the emitter assembly. She extracted an identical crystal from the innards of the cylinder and it also floated before her.

Corellia locked eyes with Moon and opened a telepathic link with her. Can you hear me?

The blond Senshi nodded. I can, but it’s difficult.

Sailor Corellia felt a surge from Moon’s Ginzoishou. She attempted to control it, but it was difficult at best. Moon’s eyes flickered, and the power surge died down. So, you’re the only one who can control it, Corellia thought.

Moon nodded, a sad look on her face. I’m sorry, Jaina.

Corellia smirked. There’s nothing to be sorry about, Usagi. This might just take a bit longer to pull off. The two Senshi closed their eyes and concentrated, synchronizing themselves in an attempt to bring about their full power.

Off to the side, Tuxedo Ennth blew his beloved a kiss before turning to Pluto. “Send me to Alderaan.”

The guardian of time nodded and raised her time staff once more, opening the portal. His green eyes looked back once more at Sailor Corellia before he stepped through. The time gate then closed and vanished.

Just below the main stage, Luke and Mara held a council of war with the others. “Should we evacuate the children?” Tionne asked.

Luke‘s face settled into a grim mask. “We simply don’t have the time, Tionne. We’ll need every able-bodied person here to defend Jaina and Usagi.” He glanced up at the stage, the wheels in his mind turning rapidly. “Move the children to the old rebel command center. It’s the most secure location in the Academy.”

Tionne nodded and hurried off to organize them. Kam glanced around. “I think we might need a final line of defense, you know?”

Mara scratched her neck and shuffled her feet. “Yeah, I see what you mean.” She looked about and saw Sailors Mars, Pluto and Saturn standing about. The former Emperor’s Hand motioned to the three Senshi to come over. “You three will stay here and protect this room with your life. Under no circumstances will the Charon get by you, understood?”

All three ladies nodded, their expressions of the utmost seriousness.

Luke walked up to Han, Chewie and Lowie. “Han, there’s a shield generator about two kilometers away. Can you go check on it?”

Han nodded and slapped Luke on his arm before turning and hurrying off. Chewie and Lowie followed, both letting out roars.

The Jedi Master wiped his brow and let out a sigh. Now all we need is the Force to be truly with us.

Chapter Five: Defense of the Temple
One hour later
The Jedi Temple on Yavin IV was as prepared as it could get. The only real way into the Temple was a frontal assault through the hangar bay and up through to the Main Audience Chamber. The Errant Venture and Tenel Ka’s Hapan fleet hung back on the opposite side of the planet, ready to pounce on the Charon fleet when they exited hyperspace.

Tuxedo Jedi stood with his group just outside the hangar bay doors while Sailor Coruscant stood with her group inside the hangar. Sailors Mars, Pluto and Saturn stood ready at the top of the ancient edifice, along with Miko Reglia and Tuxedo Titan.

Ofuda scrolls were placed at all the windows and the main entrance while Mars sat on a stone bench, hands clasped tightly in prayer. She chanted constantly. “Rin, pyou, tou, sha, kai, jin, retsu, sai, zen. Rin, pyou, tou, sha, kai, jin, retsu, sai, zen.”

Miko stood by her, lightsaber at the ready.

Two minutes later, over 20,000 Charon battleships dropped out of hyperspace above the Jedi Temple. The flashes of croneau radiation blended together, lighting up the sky and forming a second sun.

Sailor Mercury glanced up and gasped. “My god,” she muttered, scanning with her visor. The gas giant was blotted out by the battleships.

Jupiter cradled her lightsaber and snarled. “Let them come.” Deyer placed a comforting hand on her shoulder, but he could still feel tension from her.

High above, the battleships moved into position. The commander of the flagship stood on the bridge and received a report from one of his subordinates. “My Lord, the target is protected by an energy shield. We cannot penetrate it, nor can we destroy the generator.”

The commander’s mandibles clacked in frustration. “Fine, then. Launch a surface assault on them.”

Landing craft dropped like flies from the hangars of the battleships and headed to Yavin IV. Before they even penetrated the atmosphere, the Hapan fleet and the Errant Venture rounded the moon and opened fire on the Charon.

On the bridge of the Venture, Booster stared out the main viewport and sneered. “Well, there may be more of them, but I’m meaner than they are.” He activated the com and spoke to the Hapans. “Okay, ladies and…ladies. Dive right in and fire at will.”

The Venture’s main turbolaser batteries opened up, ripping into the Charon’s left flank and destroying multiple ships, crippling others. At the same time, Hapan battle dragons and Nova-class attack cruisers hit both flanks of the Charon fleet with blood-red turbolasers blazing.

Miy’til-class fighters and X-wings boiled out of their hangars and were met with the Charonian’s arachnid-like fighters. Within minutes, space above Yavin IV became choked with ships and plasma bolts.

The landing craft sped through the atmosphere and hit the surface in a series of barely-controlled crashes, flattening the jungle around and forming smoking craters. The hatches popped open and the Charon exited, swarming through the jungle like piranha beetles.

Back at the Temple, Mercury scanned the jungle and gasped. “There’s over two thousand Charon heading our way!”

Off to the side, Kam and Sailor Yavin stood back to back with their hands clasped together. “I love you, Kam,” Yavin whispered.

Kam’s eyes watered, and his voice choked as he spoke. “I love you too, Tionne.”

Tuxedo Jedi pointed his lightsaber at the edge of the forest. “Be ready, my friends and family. Here they come!”

Wow...it's been awhile since I got the first review of a new post. grin

LOL! Han REALLY doesn't know how to deal with Hotaru does he? Considering who his children have married or about to marry...family reunions MUST be interesting to say the least.

Looks like Earth is still a battlefield...those Charon really need to die!

So...looks like the outcome of the war will be determined on Yavin 4. Usagi won't let us down...she's never failed us when we needed her the most.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!! happy

Chewie ran to Luke and wrapped the Jedi Master in a bear hug, lifting him off the ground. “Easy, Chewie!”

Awwww! love (I totally heard Mark Hamill's voice say that when I was reading! O_o )

The Hapan princess let a half-smile cross her stoic features. “There are over a thousand Hapan warships in orbit, Mistress Jade,” she said, pointing to the heavens. “And they shall fight to the death to defend us.”

Whoo! That's gotta be nice.

Good plan! *but is worried for those who have to go* *not that she's not worried for those who have to stay as well...*

Uranus’ blue eyes looked about the city, her mouth open in horror. “But-how did-when?” she sputtered out. All of the buildings were damaged to some extent, a half-dozen leveled. A haze clung to the air and irritated everyone while the cloying stench of death assaulted their noses.

Brrr. That would be horrific.

On the bridge of the Venture, Booster stared out the main viewport and sneered. “Well, there may be more of them, but I’m meaner than they are.”

Aw, he's a cute, gouchy old man! ^_^

*sigh* It's sad, really, that there are thousands of Charon trying to eradicate Yavin, two Rogues are dead and more death to come pretty soon and yet I STILL prefer your universe hands-down to the "official" (rabid movie-canonists read "quasi-official") universe that has been- is being- shoved down our throats by Lucasfilm, DelRey, etc.

Not surprising, of course (you know how I love your stories), but sad. The books used to make me so excited, so happy... now nothing but a sort of disappointed apathy.

Never thought I'd see the day when I'd miss the ol' Bantam days of Mara/Lando, superweapon-of-the-month, and barely connected storylines. At least they hadn't lost the whole action-adventure, mythic, uplifting/escapist tone of the series. All I can say is thank the force for fanfic. Yours especially, Striker! ^_^

Whoa. 'Cept for the last bit, that was a downer. Sorry. So, now up! Up up up! Up up and awaaaaaaay!!!! tongue

baf-LOL, congrats on grabbing the top spot. grin No, he doesn't, but it's semi-understandable. Hmm, son-in-law's an ex-Dark Jedi and bounty hunter. One daughter-in-law's a princess and the other one blows up planets. Usagi will pull through. That's part of her charm!

Earthknight-Thanks. Glad you like the action, there.

SSM12-A miracle? Hmm, that's what Usagi's good at. happy

Jaded_Girl-Really? Cool. happy Good idea to be worried. It's a shame Uranus' reaction wasn't shown more in the NJO. I don't read/buy the books anymore, myself. They are non-canon to me. Glad you like my fics. happy

Announcements!

DarthIshtar wrote me a viggie for Christmas called Ever After.

I wrote her a viggie called Preparations.

Sanar and Devnos lis are from Trickster_Jaina_Fel and are used with her permission. And if you love good writing, you'll love her stuff. Seriously... I can't recommend it enough.

My resolutions are to:
1. Start going to church
2. Try to be nicer
3. Finish this fic. wink What are yours?

Here we go!

*****
The Charon crashed through the outer layer of trees, not even pausing as they raised their weapons high and crashed into the line of Jedi and Senshi.

Sailor Yavin stepped forward, raised her arms and shouted, “Chain of Annihilation!” The two chains shot out from her wrists and battered the lead Charon, slicing through their ranks with their enchanted metal.

In response, the arachnoids opened fire with their blaster pistols, sending a wave of plasma straight at the defenders. Tuxedo Jedi, Kam and Lowie sunk into the Force, their blades a whirlwind as they deflected the plasma bolts either into the air or back at the horde. Over a dozen were killed in the first few moments, but they were quickly shoved to the side by newer ranks, forgotten in the mad rush to kill.

Sailors Alderaan and Jupiter stood on opposite sides of the hangar entrance, arms outstretched. Alderaan sent a message to the brunette Senshi through the Force. Shall we?

Jupiter nodded and shouted, “Supreme Thunder!” She was surrounded by a blizzard of bluish lightning, that flowed from her body, incinerating the closest Charon into mounds of black ash.

At the same time, Sailor Alderaan shouted, “Twilight Pulse!” Onyx lightning streamed around her legs and shot up to her gloved hands, shooting out in a maelstrom of electricity and vaporizing dozens of Charon, thinning the herd-but not nearly enough.

Sailor Chiron hefted her spear and charged. The centaur Jedi ducked a swing from a Charon and impaled him on her spear, killing him. Her hind legs suddenly lashed out, catching a warrior that was sneaking up on her and caving his chest in. She gritted her teeth and pulled her now-bloody spear out, held it ready and shouted, “Crystal Blast!”

A pencil-thin beam of sapphire energy shot out, slicing right through his abdomen and vivisecting him. The rest of the Senshi and Jedi soon waded into the mass of Charon. And the battle was joined.

Yavin’s chains whirled around her body, striking the Charon and slicing through their armor-and the flash beneath. Her eyes were ablaze and her hair whipped around her head by a miniature whirlwind created by her chains.

Even in the heat of battle, the roars of Lowie, Chewie and Raaba rose above it all. The three Wookiees poured bowcaster quarrels into the horde at first, but they eventually were reduced to melee combat.

Em Teedee’s optic sensors flashed with horror. “Oh, my god! What are you doing, Master Lowbacca? That isn’t right!”

Lowie growled as he ducked a spear swing and countered with his bronze-colored lightsaber. [We are at war, Em Teedee! How is this not right?]

The tiny protocol droid emitted a sigh from his lopsided speaker grille. “You’re simply amputating the limbs, Master Lowbacca. Beat them to death with them.”

Lowie’s brown eyes flashed and he snarled. {Thank you, Em Teedee. I had completely forgotten to do that.] Subsequently, he parried a spear thrust, got inside the Charon’s guard and ripped his lower right arm off.

Black, rancid blood gushed from the wound, covering Lowie’s left arm in ichors. He paid it no mind as he brought the hairy, segmented limb crashing onto the Charon’s head and crushed it with one blow.

Despite the gains made, the horde pushed forward. Kam and Tionne stood back to back near the door controls and guarded them. Yavin’s chains lashed out at any Charon near, writhing like possessed serpents and slick with blood.

A Charon aimed his blaster just above the couple and fired, blasting a support beam and sending down a large chunk of ferrocrete.

Both dodged out of the way of the debris, Kam rolling to his left. He looked up just in time to see a Charon hovering over Sailor Yavin, her chains tangled up and her lightsaber still clipped to her skirt, leaving her defenseless.

The Charon’s spear glinted in the sunlight as he prepared to bring it down and decapitate the petite Senshi of wisdom.

Kam shouted, “Tionne, behind you!” and flung his lightsaber at the beast. The silvery blade spun around as it flew, striking the Charon and slicing off his head.

Yavin’s silver eyes shone with thanks-but they soon grew wide with horror as a Charon snuck up in Kam. He glanced back, but it was too late. The Charon thrust his spear and sliced through Kam’s robes-and the flesh underneath. I love you were his last thoughts before he hit the ground, dead.

Yavin’s mouth dropped open as she screamed. Her soul ripped in two, half of it going with Kam as his spirit moved on from this life. Her chains dug into the ground, and her head hung low. “How dare you…” she muttered, tears stinging her eyes. “I can’t forgive you. I can’t forgive you.” Her head shot up and every Force-sensitive being on the moon felt her grief and rage intermingling. “I CAN’T FORGIVE YOU!” she shouted, looking to the heavens.

Both chains shot off and skewered the Charon that killed Kam, pinning him to the wall-and knocking one of his arms against the door controls. The massive ferrocrete doors parted and slid open into grooves in the wall. The Charon all looked with their multi-faceted eyes and, as one, moved for the open door.

In the hangar, Venus gripped her own chain. “I gotta get to her,” she shouted. She backed up a bit and ran, leaping up and over the heads of the lead Charon. The Senshi of love landed and skidded in the loose dirt next to an enraged Sailor Yavin, who was quaking with rage.

“How dare they! How dare-”

Venus stood up straight and slapped her across the cheek, ending her tirade. “What the hell is the matter with you?” she shouted.

Yavin’s head snapped back from the impact, her pale cheek reddening. She straightened and looked at her with a shocked expression. “But they killed Kam…” she whispered.

Venus nodded. “Yeah, they killed him and they do deserve to die, but for the love of it, wait until after the battle!” She motioned to the horde of Charon now streaming into the hangar. “Hate and anger only lead to suffering, now snap out of it, Tionne!” And with that she raised her arm and shouted, “Crescent Beam!” A golden beam of energy shot out and swept across several Charon, slicing them up. “Come on!”

The blond Senshi took a step forward, but Yavin grabbed her arm and spoke, her eyes on the ground. “Minako…thank you.”

Venus paused, flashed her a toothy smile, held up her right arm and clenched her fist tightly. “Don’t worry, we’ll beat them. After all, Mara’s in the hangar bay.”

Sailor Coruscant’s head bobbed a bit as she sneezed, but her blue-colored plasma blade was steady as she parried a spear away and swung, killing two Charon with one stroke.

Behind her, Raynar’s pewter-colored lightsaber was a blur as he deflected dozens of blaster bolts back to their source. “This is fun…”

Coruscant glanced at him out of the corner of her eye. “Well, at least there’s less of them than before.”

Raynar’s lightsaber suddenly shot straight up, deflecting back a bolt that would’ve struck Coruscant in the back of the head. It rebounded, striking the blaster rifle that spewed it and detonating the power pack.

She kicked a Charon and decapitated it before turning to the merchant Jedi. “Thanks,” she said, throwing him a salute.

Sailor Dathomir and Tuxedo Hapes stood back-to-back in the middle of the hangar, trying to keep the horde back. Blue flames writhed around Dathomir’s arms and her two weapons as she shouted, “Dathomir Heatwave!” The flames wound around her lightsaber and sakabato before shooting forth, incinerating a group of Charon.

Hapes’ hands were a blur as he tossed steel-stemmed roses at anything with eight limbs. All of the green-petaled roses hit a Charon, but they embedded in arms or legs, not causing much damage but were distracting. “This is unreal,” Hapes said.

Dathomir’s leg suddenly slipped out from under her, allowing her to duck a swing from the side. She sent her arm up, punching the air and shouting, “Rancor Roundhouse!” A translucent shockwave burst from her fist, hitting the Charon and caving his humanoid chest in. Blood spurted from his mandibles as he died.

Her husband let out a low whistle. “Man, the cleaning bill’s gonna be huge.”

Dathomir quickly got her feet back under her and fired off several more Rancor Roundhouses. “That was a nice joke, husband,” she said. She looked at the blade of her reverse-edged sword and felt a strange power come over her. “We must… defend our friends,” she whispered.

Hapes glanced at her, concern on his face. “Are you all right?” he asked.

Sailor Dathomir shook her head. “This one is fine… I think.”

Both suddenly turned their head and saw the frontline soldiers of the horde fighting Uranus, Neptune, Dorsk 82 and Streen near the back. Streen’s wizened eyes were half-closed and his hands were out in front of him as he concentrated. The air around his hands whirled around, flowing out at gale-force speeds and forcing the Charon back. "Wish I was back at the Dantooine Enclave," he said, his words lost in the wind.

However, even from their position, they could see the elderly Jedi Master struggle with holding off so many Charon and maintaining the wind. Finally, the wind shield failed and The Charon hit Uranus, Neptune and Dorsk at full speed.

Dorsk’s green blade, the same color as his skin, slashed and killed Charon after Charon, but it was an exercise in futility. Even the two warrior Senshi couldn’t stem the horde for long. Uranus’ two swords carved a deadly swath through the Charon while Neptune fired off multiple Deep Submerges, disintegrating many.

Still, the Charon advanced.

Tuxedo Jedi and Coruscant met up at the rear of the horde, both with lightsabers out and carving into two to three Charon simultaneously. Tuxedo Jedi ducked a spear swing and jumped up, throwing a black-petaled rose stem-first at another Charon, killing him while decapitating another Charon with his lightsaber.

As the body fell, he rolled out of the way and right up to Coruscant. “This is ridiculous!” she yelled, parrying two spear thrusts simultaneously and then eviscerating both Charon. “We’ve only slowed them down, not stopped them!”

Her husband gritted his teeth as he Force-shoved several Charon back. “As long as we’ve bought Jaina and Usagi the time they need, it won’t matter.” His blue eyes drifted over to the body of Kam, and the Jedi master mightily resisted the urge to simply snap every Charon’s neck in the galaxy.

He dodged to the left and ran to Kam’s body, kneeling by it. The Jedi Master removed his cape and draped it over his friend. “I’m sorry,” he whispered. “I’ll miss you, Kam.”

Coruscant’s green eyes suddenly snapped to the sky. “Oh, god! The children!”

Tuxedo Jedi’s own eyes shot to the middle of the Great Temple. He sensed the horde approaching the old command center-the place where all the children were. Kyle Katarn and his friend Jan Ors guarded the area, but were they enough?

Both husband and wife looked down and then locked eyes. We need to get there, both thought. Before either could move, a sonic boom sounded out, nearly flattening the area.

Tuxedo Jedi looked up and gasped. “What the hell’s he doing here?”

Coruscant suddenly parried away a spear thrust and gutted the Charon. “I don’t know, but I’ve never been happier to see him!”

Five minutes earlier
The Errant Venture buckled and heaved beneath Booster’s feet. He spread his legs apart and steadied himself. The acrid stench of burnt-out machinery wafted through the air as he bellowed, “Report, Corsec!”

In the crew pit, Jedi Master Corran Horn looked up at his father-in-law and scowled. “Shields are at 60% and holding. There’s coolant leaks, but they’re being contained.”

Booster nodded and looked back out the view port with his cybernetic eye flashing.

Out in the vacuum of space, a Hapan Battle Dragon approached a Charon battleship. The saucer-shaped Battle Dragon opened fire with multiple turbolasers, spitting blood-red bolts of plasma. Even as they struck the shields, the battleship responded with a flurry of proton torpedoes.

The more agile Hapan warship dodged most of them and fired off another salvo of turbolasers, battering down the battleship’s shields and laying it open for a direct assault. Turbolasers and ion cannons hit the hull directly, slicing into the oily-black armor and exposing sections to space. Several fuel cells detonated, ripping away the engines and leaving the rest as floating junk.

Back at the Venture, Corran’s head shot up. “Hey, we’ve got multiple hyperspace reversions!” he shouted at Booster. He glanced over at the next station, which was being manned by his wife Mirax.

She looked up at him and smiled. “Don’t worry, dear. They’re New Republic ships.”

Flashes of light heralded the arrival of over five thousand New Republic starships dropping from hyperspace. They spread out and starfighters swarmed from the hangar bays even as the Charon forces reacted, several of their ships breaking from the main formation and turning to confront the new arrivals..

A com tech looked up from the starboard crew pit and shouted. “Booster, we’re receiving a transmission from the Ralroost.”

The elderly smuggler dropped into the crew pit and leaned over the com panel. A screen in front lit up, showing the fur-lined face of General Traest Kre’fey. “We were in the neighborhood, so I thought we’d stop by and help you get rid of some pests.”

Booster’s weathered face broke into a wicked-looking grin. “Well, perfect timing, General. Pick your targets and happy hunting.”

The New Republic fleet spread out like and umbrella and quickly encircled the Charon fleet, joining with the beleaguered Hapan ships. MC-120 cruisers and Bothan assault cruisers fired turbolaser and ion cannon bolts even as the enemy responded in kind.

The space between the two fleets soon became congested as X-wings, B-wings, E-wings and A-wings clashed with the arachnid-like Charonian fighters. On board one X-wing, Gavin Darklighter coldly targeted a fighter and blew it out of the sky. A small two-dimensional picture of him receiving an award from Wedge was clipped to the control panel. “This is for Endor, and what you took from us.” he said.

Tycho, Hobbie and Jag took up positions behind him and all four dove in. The remnants of Rogue Squadron carved a swath through the Charon fighters and led the way to the main battleships. The front lines of the Charon fleet stayed firm and responded in kind, though, firing off huge waves of energy. And they still had an almost four-to-one advantage in ships.

There was a small flash of croneau radiation near the perimeter of the battle, unnoticed by the combatants. A small Firespray-class patrol ship emerged and shot toward Yavin IV. The shields glowed as it entered the atmosphere, leaving a fiery trail behind it.

On board, Boba Fett stood near the bottom hatch, Mandalorian armor charged and ready. He pressed his right hand to the helmet and contacted his wife Syntas. “Get ready.”

In the cockpit, Syntas’ eyes flashed as she flew Slave One through the sky. She activated the lower blaster cannons and tried to lock onto the Charon, but there were too few outside the Great Temple. She scowled and contacted Boba. “They’re all inside.”

Boba let an all too rare smile cross his scarred face. He punched the hatch control and the lower hatch slide open. Then the greatest bounty hunter in galactic history stepped off into space…

His jetpack fired and his descent as he flew at the stone edifice. He readied his blaster rifle, wrist lasers, rocket dart launcher, grappling hook, grenade launcher, and flamethrower and, as soon as he reached the ziggurat, he landed and broke into a dead run.

Boba raised his right arm and fired off an explosive dart, blowing a hole in the white stone and allowing him entrance. He scanned the area with his helmet’s internal sensors and found a massive amount of life forms one level above. Boba’s eyes widened when he detected two very familiar life forms. He raised his grenade launcher up and fired, blowing a hole in the ceiling.

One floor above, Kyle Katarn and Jan Ors stood waist-deep in Charon corpses. Jan’s gloved fingers were glued to the trigger of her E-11 stormtrooper rifle as she hosed down the hallway.

Kyle, meanwhile, hefted a large and nasty-looking rail detonator. He fired off single shots, each one a large rod weighing close to fifty kilograms and packing some serious kinetic energy. They cut through the horde, disintegrating the Charon as it mowed through them.

Still, the sheer weight of the horde pressed the pair back. Kyle could no longer use the detonator without harming himself and Jan, so he unclipped his lightsaber from his belt and ignited it, sending forth a bright yellow blade. The Jedi Master swung it about, using a minimum of movement with a maximum result and killing two or three at a time.

Behind him, Jan continued firing at the Charon. “This is ridiculous!” she shouted above the din.

Kyle shrugged and, with his free hand, pointed back at the sealed door behind them. “If we lose, so do they.”

A Charon suddenly blocked a swing from Kyle with his staff and shoved him away with both right arms. He ran through, followed by three other arachnids.

Jan aimed her rifle and calmly squeezed off a round, blowing the trailing Charon’s head off, but the other three used his body as a shield and threw it back, knocking her aside.

The lead one hefted his spear and thrust it at the door, easily slicing through it like a hot knife through butter. He grabbed at the hole with two of his clawed hands, peeling it back…

Inside, Lyria and Ailyn cowered with the rest of the children. Lyria knew that some day she’d be powerful in the Force. She knew that she’d be a great Jedi Knight, and maybe even a Sailor Senshi like her mother, but right now she was just nine years old. She looked up at Ailyn and shivered. “I’m scared, Ailyn,” she whispered, choking back a tear.

Ailyn placed a comforting hand on her friend’s shoulder and tried to smile. “Don’t worry, we’ll get out of this.”

The door suddenly bulged inward, allowing the Charon entrance. The spillover of light from the hallway cast an eerie shadow upon the Charon’s upper body, but their multi-faceted eyes glowed purple. Saliva dripped from their fangs as they advanced upon the frightened children, spear and blasters at the ready…

The floor exploded, tossing two Charon about. Boba Fett floated up, supported by the flames from his jetpack. “Get way from my daughter!” he screamed, leveling his blaster rifle at the Charon and sprayed down a withering hail of fire, blowing apart over a dozen arachnids.

He then turned to the ones in the command center and ran at them, moving far faster than a man his age should. His wrist-mounted flamethrower shot out a long, thin stream of orange flame, consuming the first Charon in a pillar of fire. Boba walked forward, seeming calm but was anything but as he readied his rocket dart launcher and fired an explosive dart at the midsection of the second Charon, blowing a nasty hole in him and sending him hurtling back.

For the final Charon, the closest to his daughter and her best friend, he deactivated his weapons, put them away and simply leapt upon the three-meter tall arachnid. The Charon swept at him with both left arms, but Boba merely ducked and grabbed onto his neck, squeezing with both gauntleted hands.

Spittle flew from the Charon’s mouth and his eyes glazed over, but Boba held on. After a few minutes, a loud crunch was heard from the Charon’s neck as it twisted at an odd angle. The bounty hunter then got up and removed his helmet, shouting, “Ailyn, are you all right?”

Both Ailyn and Lyria ran out to Boba. He scooped his daughter up with both arms and gave her a hug. “I was so worried.” He set her down and mussed up Lyria’s light-red hair.

Lyria squirmed a bit. “Hey, don’t mess the curls up!” she whined.

Boba chuckled and turned to Kyle and Jan. Both stood there with wary expressions on their faces before Jan stepped forward and extended a hand. “Nice job.”

The elderly bounty hunter hesitated a bit before grabbing Jan’s hand and pumping it twice.

He slipped his helmet back on and looked around, scanning the interior. “There’s a massive heat signature moving up,” he observed. “More Charon?”

Kyle’s brown eyes half-closed, and he scanned the Temple with the Force. “There’s about 750 Charon heading for the Grand Audience Chamber and about 500 still fighting in the hangar and lower levels.”

Boba turned to the command center and thought for a moment. “Go help out. I’ll stay here and guard the children.” He turned back and smirked at the couple. “I’ll even do it free of charge.”

Kyle saluted the bounty hunter before picking up his lightsaber and rail detonator and running off.

Jan scooped up her E-11 stormtrooper rifle and, after a moment’s hesitation, a Charon spear. Both hurried off to try and stave off Armageddon.

Down in the hangar, Jupiter and Deyer fought off a dozen Charon, aided by two older students, Sanar and Devnos Klis.

Sanar resembled a younger Jaina Solo, while Devnos resembled a younger Jacen Solo-except for that his hair was naturally straight. Sanar’s lightsaber fighting wasn’t as advanced as the others, but she had the ability to see thirty seconds into the future. Devnos, meanwhile, was built like an imperial walker. He hacked and slashed at the Charon with almost no finesse but massive power.

Jupiter ducked an overhead slash and stabbed the Charon, slicing him open him. Sanar’s head suddenly snapped to the right as she shouted, “Makoto, beware!”

The Senshi’s green eyes glanced at the young Jedi and opened her mouth, but an absolutely huge Charon chose that moment to push aside the corpse of his compatriot with his left arms, Force shove Tuxedo Deyer away from his beloved with but a wave of his lower right arm and grab onto her left arm.

The arachnid’s mandibles clicked together while clenching his clawed fingers, snapping Jupiter’s arm in five places as she let out a choked scream.

The Charon threw her against the wall with an almost casual sickness. He padded over and raised his spear high. “Die, Jedi,” he said.

The Senshi of lightning readied herself for death, but before the Charon could run her through, he gurgled slightly and his head tilted down. Jupiter followed his gaze and saw a violet plasma blade sticking out of the Charon’s chest.

She then looked up and saw Tuxedo Deyer standing on the Charonian’s thorax with a look of rage on his face. “Stay away from her!” he screamed.

The Charon toppled to the ground and Deyer jumped off, rushing to Jupiter. “Mako, please be all right!”

He tried to scoop her up in his arms, but she pushed him away with her uninjured arm. “I’m not dead, Kyp!” Sanar and Devnos soon joined the concerned Jedi Master as Jupiter held her lightsaber up. “Use this…as a splint.”

Sanar ripped off strips of her brown robe, took the lightsaber hilt and quickly tied it to Jupiter’s arm. She winced in pain and Deyer winced right along with her. After a few moments, Sanar looked around the hangar and scowled. “Where’s that blue-haired nerd?”

Jupiter’s right hand grabbed Sanar’s forearm and squeezed. “Ami is outside dueling beside Lusa. The two are fighting off two dozen Charon. And Ami is not a nerd.”

Sanar’s brown eyes widened, and she nodded meekly at Jupiter‘s still-formidable strength. “Sorry.”

Jupiter stood up with help from Deyer. His green eyes looked over her battered form and a question formed on his lips and in his mind. “Are you okay?”

A shaky smile crossed Jupiter’s lips. She held her left arm in front of her and pressed a switch on the hilt with her right hand, sending an emerald-green plasma blade shooting forth from one emitter. “Point me in the direction of anything with eight limbs and we’ll find out.”

Grand Audience Chamber
The vanguard of the horde approached the doors leading to the Audience Chamber and began hacking away at it with their spears or simply pounding at it with their powerful arms.

The wood splintered and gave way, but there another barrier awaited them-a mystical barrier. Their arms and spears bounced off of the energy field erected by the Senshi of fire, Sailor Mars.

She sat and on the main dais and chanted her spell, “Rin, pyou, tou, sha, kai, jin, retsu, sai, zen. Rin, pyou, tou, sha, kai, jin, retsu, sai, zen,” while the rest of the force stood ready in case the barrier failed. Her hands shook visibly and sweat was beaded on her forehead from the effort, but still she chanted.

The barrier over the door began to waver after almost an hour of pounding, and everyone readied themselves. Saturn twirled the Silence Glaive around with one hand while readying her violet lightsaber in the other. Tuxedo Titan stood by his beloved with both rose and lightsaber at the ready while Sailor Pluto’s time staff and golden-colored blade were poised for action. And at the main stage, Corellia and Moon stood locked in a trancelike state, their Ginzoishous telekinetically suspended between them.

Finally, the barrier shattered. Sailor Mars slumped over, but kipped up with her lightsaber at the ready. “Defend Usagi and Jaina!” she shouted, charging the Charon. Her blood-red plasma blade sliced into the first few, they quickly surrounded her.

Saturn held out the Glaive and shouted, “Death Ribbon Revolution!” The twin blades glowed with an eerie light and, two nanoseconds later, dozens of ribbon-shaped energy beams shot out of the blades and sliced about a hundred Charon into meaty chunks.

Mars ducked a side slash and rolled back from the horde. “Thanks!” she shouted. She deactivated her lightsaber, clipped it to her skirt and clasped her hands together and held them in front of her. “Fire…” she began. “…Soul!” A large ball of fire flew from her extended index fingers, throwing up a wall of flame.

Several Charon were immolated, but others battered their way through, limbs smoldering all the way.

Pluto’s scarlet eyes narrowed and she pointed the top of her time staff at them. “Dead Scream,” she whispered. The garnet orb on top glowed before a roiling sphere of violet energy shot off, bowling over a group of Charon and disintegrating them. The gap in the lines was quickly filled, and they pressed on.

Even as the Jedi and Senshi fought, over two dozen Charon dashed the main stage. Pluto looked over from her own battle and saw them with spears and blasters ready. She growled, raised her time staff high and shouted, “No, you cannot! I forbid it! Stop. Time, I command you to stop!”

The red orb at the top of the time staff changed color from blood-red to sapphire and wave of blue energy spread from the orb, enveloping the entire top of the Jedi Academy in the light. Every moving thing ground to a halt in the chamber with the exception of Pluto, Corellia and Moon. Both Senshi on the main stage continued to synchronize their Ginzoishous in an attempt to bring out their full potential…

Orbit
The Errant Venture heaved and shuddered. The starboard side was a wreck, and the port turbolasers had been smashed fifteen minutes ago. Booster held a strip of cloth to a gash in his head while staring out the viewport. “This is fun…” he muttered.

In the crew pit, Corran and Mirax held on as the Venture shook beneath them. “Well, sorry about getting you into this whole thing,” Corran said.

His wife shrugged. “Hey, it was something to do while life passed us by.”

The console beeped again, and Corran glanced at it. His mouth dropped open at the readings. “Hey, Booster?”

The grizzled smuggler looked down at his son-in-law. “Yeah?”

“We’ve got more ships coming in…and they’re Imperial.”

Over 5,000 Imperial starships exited hyperspace and spread out in parade formation. Carrack-class cruisers and Strike-class frigates were at the edges, while Interdictors and Victory-class star destroyers comprised up the middle of the fleet. Imperial-class star destroyers flew along in the central core while the Executor-class star destroyer ISS Soul Reaper sat square in the middle of the entire fleet.

On the bridge of the ISS Chimaera, Grand Admiral Pellaeon stood, hands clasped behind his back.

Fleet Captain Vana Dorja was at his side. “Your orders?” she asked the elderly admiral.

His whiskers twitched as he spoke. “Launch all TIE defenders and scimitar assault bombers, then split the fleet into three groups and surround those Charon battleships. If we can contain them here, we’ll have taken out a significant portion of their fleet.” He turned his eyes to the captain and smirked. “You are in command of the Chimaera now, Captain.”

TIE defenders and scimitar assault bombers screamed from the hangar bays and crossed the distance within seconds. The defenders, the most advanced fighter in the galaxy, chewed through the Charon arachnid fighters like a lightsaber through transparisteel, clearing the way for the assault bomber to attack the main battleships. Ten minutes later, over thirty Charon warships exploded in a series of furious detonations.

Yavin IV, Grand Audience Chamber
Sailor Pluto staggered over to a bench and sat down. She looked up at Sailor Corellia and Sailor Moon and smiled, but it quickly turned to a look of pain. She coughed into her hand and was dismayed to see blood on the white material of her gloves. Still, she felt a sense of peace around her.

I am sorry, Usagi and Jaina. I shall be gone before you return from your destiny.
