Aki shrugged at that. “Well, yeah. But they say hindsight’s 20/20, right?”
Well, she's taking it well. ^_^
Miko nodded. “Good idea, honey.” He rose and left the room. “I’ll make my specialty; nerf steaks with a side of scalloped potatoes.”
Mmmm. Scalloped potatoes. *drools*
~Jaina nodded and Serena continued. “Well, it’s still kriffin-’”
~Jaina interrupted her. “Don’t use that language, young lady!”
~Serena’s green eyes rolled. “Yes, Mother.”
*snicker*
Jaina shook her head. “No, it’s true. Back in Otherspace, you and Chibi-Usa really saved us. That’s another reason why I think your dream was just a dream.”
Aww. She's a good mommy. ^_^
~Jaina sat up and her brown eyes twitched. “And why didn’t you say anything?”
~Zekk emerged from the shadows, knelt down and wrapped his arm around Jaina’s shoulder, pulling her in for a hug.
'Cause Zekk's cool and smart enough to know when he should stay out of a "girls" moment!
*reads Zeth and Serena's encounter the next day* *crawls under a rock in sympathetic embarrassment*
Chibi-Usa nodded in agreement, then spoke up. “We’d better hurry. I haven’t been late to school since sixth grade, and I don’t want to start now.”
Must be Mamo-chan's genes. Though, in all honesty, she always did seem better organized than Usagi-chan...
Before he cleared the door, though, Luke spoke up. “And don’t be late for the prom! My daughter will be expecting you there.” There was a smile on Luke’s face as he spoke, but his eyes were chips of ice.
Ohh... Daddy!Luke is SCARRRRYY!!!
John swallowed and nodded rapidly. “No problem, Master I’ll take real good care of her gotta go bye!”
*dies laughing* Fab, Striker!
~Down at the entrance, Lyria crossed her arms and scowled. I hope you didn’t scare him off, Dad!
~Her father’s voice entered her head. He’ll be there, honey. I have a good feeling about John. He’s a lot like his mother.
~...Mara’s voice echoed through both of their heads. He’d better be there, farm boy, or else you’ll be in deep trouble!
Oh my gosh, it's like constant three-way-calling! AWESOME!
As they walked along, Lando sensed something from the younger man. Although he had been married to Tendra for over a millennia, he was still Lando Calrissian, ladies man of the galaxy. He glanced at John out of the corner of his eye and smirked. “So, who is it?”
John stopped dead in his tracks and eyed his mentor warily. “Who is what?”
Lando shook his head and let out a melodramatic sigh as they entered a turbolift and descended several stories. “Don’t play coy with me, John. I’ve known you too long. You’ve got a crush on someone.”
A: Lando wouldn't be Lando without the "Ladies' Man" bit! B: I LOVE John's reaction. (You might remember that last time I wasn't too happy that Lyria got paired with anyone, but I really am liking John so much more this time around! He's cute! ) and C: I love Lando's "Lando Sense"... better than the Force in some instances!
“It’s our first date, Lando. We’ve gone on over a hundred missions together, and this is pretty much the first time we won’t have to bring our lightsabers with us.”
Hmm. Knowing the group there, they should probably bring them anyway...
His last conscious thoughts were wondering what one wore to a prom…
Well, "no shirt, no shoes, no service", but we also strongly recommend wearing pants too.
He swore while his fighter bucked and heaved around him. “Oh, damn it! An Ion storm. Why that?”... Down to five days of air. He knew he wasn’t good enough to repair either the hyperdrive or com, so he took deep measured breaths and cast out with the Force. Mom, Lyria… somebody, hear me. Please.
D'oh! Of course! They should've been expecting it! Poor John, though.
*crosses fingers for John and waits for the next post*

This post was full of laughs, it's great. Zeth and Serena... That was too funny and too cute, but... how embarrassing. But just the mere mention of prom reminds me that my own is on the 24th and I'm not ready for it yet.
I'm really liking John. Nice guy.
And Lando in that scene... priceless! Great stuff!
Lyria blew a strand of hair from her eyes and crossed her arms. She leaned against one of the support columns, but before she could respond, Mara’s voice echoed through both of their heads. He’d better be there, farm boy, or else you’ll be in deep trouble!
Three-way conversation, love it! You go, Mara!
But an Ion storm? Not good.

SSM12-Thanks. Actually, that's one of my own favorite scenes I've ever written.
Jaded_Girl-*Hands her a plate* Aki's cool like that. Yes, I see Jaina as a good Mommy. And you knocked into someone, Force-levitated them while kissing them? Hmm... Yeah, CHibi-Usa always seemed less scatter-brained than Usagi. I'm glad you liked the three-way convo. IIRC, last time you actually DID like John with Lyria. Heck, he's the same guy here, actually. And yes, the smooth is strong in Lando.
Idrelle-Thanks. I loved that post, too. Very anime-esque, actually. Sorry about that, lol. Glad you like John and Lando, too. And no, not good.
Okay... it's done.
All the previous 3NSS meterial has been edited and rewritten. So this is... it.
Thirty pages or so, two posts. This is big.
Here we go!
*****
Yavin IV
Lyria woke with a start and jumped out of bed. She ran over to the window and looked up. The gas giant the moon orbited had sunk below the horizon and ‘true night’ was upon Yavin IV. The Jedi Master looked up at the night sky and twirled a lock of her strawberry-red hair around on her index finger. “What was that?” she whispered.
Her comlink suddenly buzzed. The Jedi Master levitated it over and activated it. “This is Lyria. Go ahead.”
The voice of the com officer came over the tiny speaker grille. “Master Skywalker, there’s a message from Anja Gallandro. Shall I pipe it through?”
Lyria’s mouth dropped open. “No, I’ll be down there in a minute.” She turned the comlink off and shrugged on a pair of slippers and a robe before leaving her room.
Five minutes later, the turbolift door in the basement opened and Lyria walked up to the communications center. The Jedi there relinquished the main seat and Lyria sat down.
Anja’s image was on the main viewscreen, and the Senshi of perseverance was not looking good. “I heard John’s voice in my sleep, Lyria. He called out to me, and you.”
Lyria’s green eyes went to the control console in front of her. She took several breaths before speaking. “I heard the same thing.” She slammed her hand into the metal casing, punching a hole in it. “Something’s happened to him!”
Anja nodded. “I’ll contact Lando and find out when he left. If I know John, he took the shortest route back to Yavin.” She glanced to the left at something off-camera. “I’ll be landing in about twelve hours. Be ready to get on when I touch down.”
Lyria nodded, her expression grim. “I’ll be right there, Anja.”
The slightly older woman nodded. “Thanks.” And with that, she cut the connection.
Lyria growled and her hands clenched tightly. You’re not getting out of this date that easily, John Skidder Gallandro! The lights suddenly brightened and Lyria stood up. She turned and saw Luke and Mara standing there.
Concern was etched on both parent’s faces. “Are you all right?” Mara asked.
Lyria’s green eyes went to the floor. “I received a message from John. I think he’s in trouble.”
Mara and Luke exchanged a glance. “I’m sure you’ll find him,” Luke said, trying to comfort his daughter.
Lyria nodded. “Oh, I’m sure we will. Whether or not he’ll be alive is another story.”
Mara shook her head at that. “Lyria, he’ll be fine. Your father trained him, after all.”
Lyria leaned against the console. She crossed her arms and shrugged. “I know you’re right, but I’m still a bit worried about him. He always did get into trouble during our missions.” She chuckled at that, then stood up and walked past her mother and father. “Mom, Dad, I’ve gotta go get ready. I’ll see you later.” And with that, she was on the turbolift and gone.
Mara stifled a sigh. “She’s not our little girl anymore, is she?”
Luke wrapped his arms around her and pulled his wife in for a hug. “She’ll always be our little girl, love. Even when she’s married with children, she’ll be our little girl.”
Mara rocked a bit in her husband’s arms. “I hope so, Luke,” she said, sounding unusually wistful. The two stood there for a long time before leaving the com center and going back up to their room.
*****
Anja’s ship the Redeemed One touched down and Lyria jumped onto the main ramp even before it was fully extended. As soon as she was aboard and the hatch was secure, the freighter turned on a credit chip and shot back into space. Lyria stowed her duffle bag and made her way to the bridge.
Anja sat there and, without even turning around, spoke up. “Are you ready?”
Lyria sat down in the co-pilot’s chair and looked over the hyperdrive control panel. “I’m going to try and use the Force to figure out where he is.”
Anja nodded, her eyes focused on the main viewport.
Lyria glanced over at the pilot. She could feel the nervousness and damp fear radiating off of Anja. “It’ll be okay,” she said, using the Force to project confidence.
Anja glanced over and let a half-smile cross her lips. “Thanks, Lyria.”
The Jedi Master paid her no heed. Instead, her green eyes were focused on the keypad in front of her. Suddenly, long fingers darted out and stabbed several number combinations. “He’s there.”
Anja glanced over and looked at the hyperspace coordinates. “You realize that area’s loaded with ion storms?”
The Jedi Master nodded. “Yeah, but that’s where he is.”
*****
The Redeemed One left hyperspace, bucking and twisting all the while as blue lightning played across the hull. Both Lyria and Anja grabbed onto their crash webbing as the ship settled down around them. “That was fun,” Anja muttered. Her eyes went wide as she checked out the sensors. “That’s John’s personal fighter! I’d recognize that silhouette anywhere!” She sent all power to the thrusters and the Redeemed One shot forward.
Lyria undid her crash webbing and got out of her seat. “I’ll get the docking tube ready. He’s in deep hibernation and might not be able to assist me.” She walked down the short hallway to the midpoint of the ship, stopped at the airlock and held out her hand. Concentration caused an ornate rod to appear in her hand. “Neo-Coruscant Crystal Power Makeup!”
A green beam of light shot up from the floor and rotated around Lyria, encasing her in a green cylinder. When it faded, she wore a Sailor Fuku complete with a green miniskirt and bow tied on the front. Ankle boots and elbow-length gloves completed the ensemble. She was now Sailor Neo-Coruscant. “I’m going out!” she yelled. “I’ll keep in telepathic contact with you.”
Anja shrugged. “Well, just keep in mind that I can’t send messages, Lyria.”
The Senshi nodded before closing the inner hatch and pulling down a lever. The air inside the airlock was sucked into the main tanks and the hatch silently opened.
Neo-Coruscant watched as the fighter grew larger in her vision. She fiddled with a set of controls on the inside of the airlock and a tube extended from the hatch. It enveloped the canopy of John’s fighter and formed a snug fit. Neo-Coruscant pulled the same lever up and repressurized the bay. We’re all set! she sent to Anja. Within seconds, the fighter’s canopy was right next to the main hatch.
Anja arrived with a crowbar and, with one swift movement, popped the seal. “John! John!” she yelled. “Gods, please be all right,” she said.
The Jedi Knight slowly stirred to life and looked up, his blue eyes half-closed. “Are you two angels?” he croaked out.
Five minutes later, both Lyria and Anja had stopped convulsing through laughter to answer him. Lyria dried her eyes with one hand while clutching her stomach with the other. “John… that… was so lame!”
He rolled his eyes and undid his crash webbing, tumbling out of the cockpit and rolling to a crouch. “Sorry, ladies. I didn’t have time to practice my pickup lines.” He brushed off his sleeve but was almost knocked down by Anja as she hugged him.
“You idiot! I thought you were dead!” she said as tears stung her brown eyes.
John patted her shoulder and returned the hug. “It’s all right, Mom.” He looked up and locked eyes with Lyria. “Both of you, thanks.”
Lyria nodded, then thrust out a set of black clothes. “No problem, John. Just don’t think you’re getting out of prom.” She turned and left the airlock, but not before speaking. “We’ll keep your fighter tethered to the Redeemed One while we get to Crystal Alderaan. I’m not missing out on this dance for anything!”
John shuddered. “She’s a bit crazy.”
Anja nodded. “Yeah, but you’re still going with her to the dance.” She let go of him, patted her son on the shoulder and left him alone with the tuxedo.
He looked the black garment over and noted the bow tie. “Hey! How the hell do you tie one of these things?”
*****
Crystal Alderaan, the day of the senior prom
Serena jumped out of her seat a full half-second before the final bell rang and dashed home, not even waiting for any of her friends. She ran through the gates and through the lobby, only to suddenly find her feet no longer touching the ground. “What the heck?” she cried out.
She looked around and saw her father standing in the hallway. “Not even a kiss for your old man?” he said teasingly.
A sigh escaped his daughter’s lips. “Sorry, Dad.” She floated over and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
“So, how’s my little princess?” he asked. “All excited for her big night?”
Serena’s feet touched the floor again and she clapped her hands together. “I can’t wait, Dad! I’ve got my dress ready and Zeth will be picking me up about 5:00.” Her father laughed and rubbed the top of Serena’s head, causing her to squirm. “Dad! You’ll mess my hair up!”
Zekk stopped and father and daughter walked along the halls of the palace, talking about their day. “I think I did all right on my math test. But English lit. was tough,” she admitted, color rising to her cheeks.
Zekk nodded. “I’m sure you did fine, Serena. You studied a lot for both tests.” He checked his wrist chronometer. “Dinner will be soon. I want you to eat something before the dance, okay?”
Serena nodded before dashing off with a wave. She ran up a flight of stairs, using the Force link with her mother as a guide. Finally, she stopped in front of a room and opened the door. “Mom! Tonight’s the-” She stopped as she saw her mother crouching in front of a small table. “What the heck?”
Tenel Ka, Stalla and Allana were also sitting there with a tea set. Stalla looked up and smiled. “Serena!” she said, hopping up and throwing her arms around the young lady.
Serena smiled and mussed up Stalla’s hair a bit. “Hey, squirt!” She looked up and chuck
led. “Can I join you four for tea?”
Tenel Ka smiled and motioned to the last open area. “I am glad you could join us, niece.” She then picked up a tea cup with her hand and took a sip of the imaginary tea.
Stalla also sat back down and held up a tea pot, offering to refill Jaina’s cup. “Why thank you, Stalla!” the Queen said.
Serena couldn’t help smiling at all of this as she spoke. “So, Mom. The prom’s tonight. Zeth’s gonna be picking me up in a couple hours.” She motioned to the door. “Do you think we should get going?”
Jaina waved her daughter off. “We will, but I must finish my tea first.” She took a sip and then set the cup down. The queen then bowed her head to Stalla. “I thank you for this, Stalla. However, I must go and help my daughter prepare for her date with Zeth.”
At that, Allana screwed up her face in disgust. “Ew, boys are icky!”
Tenel Ka and Jaina exchanged a knowing glance. “Wait a few years, daughter. And then we shall see.”
Allana eyed her mother with a bit of suspicion, but said nothing. Jaina and Serena, meanwhile, rose and left the room.
Mother and daughter walked down the hall to Serena’s room. “How are you getting down there?” Jaina asked.
Serena shrugged as she took a dress out of the closet and held it up to her body. “Zeth and I are walking down. The school’s only five minutes away, and it might be more romantic that way,” she said a bit dreamily.
Jaina’s brown eyes narrowed at that. “Be careful, Serena. Zeth’s a good kid, but he’s still a teenager-and a man.”
Serena turned her head to look at her mother, a look of confusion plastered on her face. “What would Zeth do to me, Mom? He’s always been a prefect gentleman!” She sighed and turned back to the mirror in front, catching Jaina’s concerned look in the reflection. “But… I’ll still keep an eye out.”
Jaina sighed in relief at that.
Serena quickly changed into the dress and turned around. “How do I look?” she asked. The dress was dark-blue and one-shouldered. The area around the bust was covered in a lighter blue than the rest and there was a slit up to the knee.
Jaina choked back tears as she smothered Serena in a hug. “My baby’s grown up!” she wailed.
Serena merely rolled her jade eyes and gingerly worked her way out of her mother’s grip. “Come on, Mom. You’ll get tear stains on my dress!”
Jaina nodded and wiped her eyes. “Sorry.” She motioned to the door. “Well, let’s go eat some supper. I don’t want you getting faint while dancing.”
Serena smiled at that. “Sure thing, Mom.” The two left and went down for some food before Serena’s date with destiny.
*****
Zeth emerged from the portal connecting Crystal Tokyo and Crystal Alderaan and looked around. “Where’s Serena?” he murmured. He saw the door to the main living area closed for perhaps the first time in his life. He walked over and gently rapped on the wooden door.
Zekk‘s voice sounded out from the other side. “Who is it?”
Zeth leaned back in surprise. “Ah, it’s Zeth, sir. I’m here to pick up your daughter for prom.”
The door opened and Zekk stood there, holo-camera in hand. “And here we have Serena’s date,” he said, stepping back and allowing Zeth to walk in. “He’s wearing a nice tuxedo and has a bouquet of roses. What’s even better is he didn’t transform into Tuxedo Neo-Deyer.”
Zeth arched an eyebrow at the King of Alderaan. “Sir, that would be lazy and disrespectful to Serena.”
A voice from the stairs caught both of their attention. “Well, that’s good. I don’t want anyone thinking my daughter doesn’t deserve the very best.” Jaina said as led Serena down the stairs
Zeth’s breath caught in his throat. She’s beautiful, he thought.
Serena walked up to him and looked up slightly at him. “Thanks,” She said, lighting up the room with her smile.
Zeth’s cheeks colored slightly at that, but he remained silent.
Zekk motioned to the two to look over at him. “And here’s the happy couple! Smile for the holo-cam, you two crazy kids!”
Serena glanced to the floor and grimaced. “Dad! You’re embarrassing me!” she whined.
Zekk smirked. “I’m your father, Serena. It’s my job to do that.”
He looked up from the camera and, in a serious voice, said, “Now you have her home by 1:00 AM, Zeth. Got it?”
Zeth nodded and swallowed. “Yes, sir.” He looked down slightly at Serena and extended his arm to her. “Shall we?”
She threaded her arm through his and once more smiled radiantly. “Let’s go.”
The two walked down the streets of the city. The sun was still up, but it had lowered enough so shadows had begun to extend. With most of the people home, the shops were quiet. Serena felt they had the whole world to themselves. Trees lining the streets were in full cherry blossom bloom, lending a dreamlike quality to the whole affair.
All too soon for the young woman, they reached Winter Celchu Memorial High School. Zeth reached into his pocket, pulled out a set of tickets and handed them to someone outside the gate. He let them in and Zeth led her to the gym near the back. Inside, the prom was at full swing. The dance floor was crowded and there was a long line at the punch bowl.
Zeth motioned to the pink beverage. “Shall I get you something?” he asked.
Serena nodded, then looked and saw Chibi-Usa across the floor. The princess of Crystal Tokyo was dressed to the nines and was accompanied by Helios, guardian of the dream world and her beloved. She waved at them, but Zeth arrived with two glasses of punch.
“Will you be able to dance in those heels?” he asked, leaning back and looking at her feet.
Serena giggled and clicked her heels together. The four-inch heels instantly retracted. “It’s the latest in formal wear,” she said.
Near the back, Lyria and John ran in. “How do I look?” she asked.
John glanced at her in her red dress and sighed. “Better than me,” he said, straightening his bow tie for the ninth time.
Lyria looked around and did a light scan through the Force. “Everything seems okay,” she reported.
John nodded, then his eyebrows arched as a question hit him. “Wait, what do we do as chaperones, anyway?”
Lyria shrugged. “We just make sure the kids behave themselves.”
The younger Jedi Knight looked around. “And if they are?” he asked, seeing no signs of misbehavior anywhere.
Lyria gave him a sly smile. “Then we just stand back, enjoy ourselves and maybe have a dance or two ourselves.”
John smiled at that and nodded to her. “I’d be honored.”
Later that night, Serena and Zeth danced to an old ballad called ‘Eternal Flame’ by a group known as the Bangles. She looked up into his green eyes and sighed. He gulped, leaned down and captured her mouth with his.
And for a moment, the whole of creation consisted precisely of Zeth Durron and Serena Solo.
Epilogue
Ten Years Later
“I now present, for the first time, Zeth and Serena Durron! You may kiss the bride!”
Jaina and Makoto both bawled as Zeth turned to Serena, lifted her veil and kissed her deeply and with passion.
Zekk and Kyp, meanwhile, beamed at their kids. “I was wondering how long they’d take to get married,” Kyp said.
Zekk merely shrugged at his old friend. “You and I both know that love finds a way, Kyp. It may take a while, but it always wins out in the end.”
The End

MIRAKURU ROMANSU (Miracle romance)
Chapter One: it was a Bright and sunny Afternoon…
It was raining in the city. The drops of water fell like sheets and drowned the rats in the sewers. Lightning flashed in the sky, illuminating all the sins of humanity to see. The rain… the rain…
Kyp Durron’s head drooped and he sighed. The sun shone outside the window and there was a pair of robins on his windowsill. He turned back and plopped his carcass into his chair and rubbed his temple. “Why can’t I get any business?” he moaned.
So far, Kyp had two cases under his belt. The first was searching for a lost cat. And although Jacen Solo was the animal expert among the Jedi, Kyp found Mr. Tabby in two minutes flat. The second case was even worse: a child hired him to find his stuffed bear. It was the ten most humiliating minutes of Kyp’s life.
He suddenly looked up, reached out with the Force and opened he door. “Hey, Mako,” he said, grinning.
Kino Makoto, Kyp’s girlfriend, walked in with a big basket and set it down on his desk. “Lunchtime!” she chimed out. The Senshi of lightning spread out a tablecloth on his desk and opened the basket. “I know you’re a bit depressed about not having any work, hon.”
Kyp smirked and took a plate of rice balls from her. “Did you need the Force to figure that out?” he said sardonically. A withering glare from Makoto’s jade eyes caused him to shrink down into his chair a bit. “Sorry, sorry!”
She sighed and picked up a copy of the Tokyo Times. “Your ad’s in the classified section, but no one’s called yet.”
Kyp bowed his head slightly and they both said, “Itadakimasu!” before digging in. “I wonder if online advertising would work better…” he thought.
Makoto bit her lip. “I’m not sure if that’ll work, hon.”
Kyp sighed and put down his plate. His green eyes were dull and he felt quite useless. “I’m sorry, Mako. I guess I’m dead weight right now on our budget.”
At that, Makoto’s mouth opened in shock. “Kyp Durron, I don’t give a damn if you ever earn one single yen! I love you for who you are.”
Kyp took a rice ball and popped it into his mouth, a slow smile forming on his lips. He felt Makoto’s love for him radiating off of her. And it felt good, albeit he still wasn‘t sure if he deserved it. He reached across the table and squeezed her hand. “Thank you, Mako.”
She smiled that smile that made his heart ache, but then she bolted out of her chair. “Oh, I’m late!” She leaned over the desk and gave Kyp a quick kiss before hurrying out the door and down the hallway to her bakery.
Kyp couldn’t help but chuckle at her. The Jedi Master ate some more food and drank some juice before cleaning up.
He suddenly felt someone unfamiliar approaching. He looked up and saw a woman in her early thirties at the door. She looked extremely distraught and Kyp could feel turmoil from her. “Are you Kyp Durron?” she asked.
Kyp nodded. “Yes, ma’am. What can I do for you?” he said, rising from his chair and offering her a seat.
“My name is Yotsuba Mihama,” she said. She pulled out a handkerchief and wiped her eyes.
“What’s wrong?” he asked, not letting her know that he already knew something of the problem.
She looked up at him and spoke. “I saw you at my daughter’s graduation. She was friends with Tomoe Hotaru, so I thought of you first.” She pulled out a manila envelope and handed it to Kyp. “My daughter has been kidnapped by the yakuza, Mister Durron! They’re demanding 100,000 yen for her return. And I can’t go to the police!”
Kyp’s fingers touched the envelope and images flashed before his eyes. She’s alone and scared. She’s tied up in… a warehouse? Yes. But there’s many men there. And they’ve got machine guns. He looked down at Yotsuba and took her trembling hand. “Ma’am, I’ll get your daughter back.” He locked eyes with her. “She’ll come home.”
Yotsuba looked up at him and smiled. “Thank you, sir.” She rose and turned slightly to the door. “My family can pay you well, Mister Durron. Just please get my daughter back.” She handed him a slip of paper with her phone number and address before she left.
Kyp walked around to his desk and opened the envelope. He then took a pair of tweezers and pulled a note out and laid it on the desk:
Take 100,000 yen to the central train station in Jubaan District or your daughter will die! Instructions on how to get her back will be there, but only if you follow our instructions to the letter!
1. No police!
2. It must be in unmarked yen.
3. Your wife must make the drop.
Kyp felt the malevolence wafting off of the letter. He opened a desk drawer and pulled out a pair of latex gloves and a bottle of silk black latent powder. The Jedi Master unscrewed the bottle top and pulled out a brush, dipping it into the powder and then brushing it across the note. He was disappointed-but not surprised-to find no fingerprints on the note. He shook off the powder into the trash can and then held up the note. So engrossed was he, he didn’t even notice the young woman standing at the door.
“Master Durron, do you need help?” Mizuno Ami asked.
The Jedi Master gasped and brought the note down, allowing his green eyes to see her. “Ami!” he said, extending his hand.
The woman clasped the proffered hand and pumped it twice. “How is life in Tokyo?” she asked.
Kyp shrugged. “Not bad, although I’ve learned the value of a cell phone.” He chuckled, then turned serious. “And thanks for all the paperwork, Ami. That helped Makoto and I out tremendously.”
The blue-haired Senshi blushed and held her hand up to her mouth. “Oh, it was nothing.” She looked at the note and arched an eyebrow. “What’s this?” she asked, her mind shifting into research mode.
He walked over to her and held up the note. “Mihama Chiyo has been kidnapped, and her mother want me to find her.” He shook his head and sighed. “All I’ve got is this note to go on, but there’s no fingerprints on it.”
Ami suddenly walked over to his desk and slipped on a pair of latex gloves. “Fingerprints aren’t the only thing on the note.” She reached out with the Force and plucked the piece of paper from his hands and levitated it back to the desk. “The letters on the note look odd. They’re quite dark.” She held out her left hand and, with a flash of light, a small computer the size of a pencil case appeared. A small light ran over the note and the text soon appeared on the computer’s screen.
Kyp stepped forward. “Ah, Ami, you don’t have to help me with this. I can’t really pay you right now.”
Ami’s head snapped up at that. “Master Durron, I don’t care about that! Someone has been kidnapped, and its our duty as Jedi to help them!” She rubbed her chin as something caught her eye. “Hmm, this isn’t computer-printed. The letters are imprinted too deeply for that. Looks like the kidnappers used a typewriter for this.”
Kyp’s eyes narrowed. “I’ve heard of those. They’re… mechanical, right?”
Ami nodded, already deep in thought. “I wonder if I can trace the manufacturer through the type. If I remember, each company used its own style for the letters.”
Kyp tore off the gloves and pulled his cell phone from his pocket. He quickly dialed the number Yotsuba left him and got in touch with her. “Ma’am, where was your daughter heading to last time you saw her? Uh, huh. And she was going to see who? Ah, thank you for that.” He turned off the cell and levitated his jacket over. “Ami, I’m gonna go over to Miss Mihama’s house and try and trace Chiyo-Chan’s steps up until her disappearance.” He checked to make sure he had a camera and his lightsaber hooked to his belt.
At the sight of the slender metallic rod, Ami arched an eyebrow. “Master, please be aware that the average citizen doesn’t know about Jedi or Senshi. Caution should be observed.”
Kyp smirked. “Hey, my middle name is caution.” And with those final words, he left.
Ami glared at the door for a few moments before sighing and returning to the note.
Chapter Two: Tracking Chiyo-chan
Kyp walked along the street, placing one foot in front of the other. He had run down to the Mihama’s house, using the Force to augment his speed somewhat. First thing I do when I get paid is get a bike, he thought. He asked Miss Mihama where the young girl was headed off to last time she saw her, and the distraught mother told him about a park she liked to go to with San Sakaki. He quickly got the directions to it and began following his instincts.
His instincts thus far had led him to just across the park that Yotsuba told him about. The park was at the middle of a traffic circle with a large house on one side and a small store on the other. He continued walking and crossed the street, noting how deserted the place seemed.
His green eyes noted a few bikes tied up along the storefront. He also noted a number of trees blocking the view. He took a step onto the sidewalk-and froze. This feels wrong. Terror and anger permeate this spot while there should be happiness and joy. Images of a black car and rough hands hit him. He stumbled back and then looked down to see several tire tracks in the asphalt.
Kyp knelt down and took his camera out, snapping several pictures. A smile crossed his lips as he also noted a few boot prints. The Jedi’s brow quirked as he noted one of the prints at an odd angle to the rest of the prints. He quickly took some more pictures. The fact that these are still here means that the kidnapping was fairly recent. Mrs. Mihama must’ve gotten the note today.
Kyp suddenly reached into his jacket and pulled out his cell phone a full half-second before it rang. “Talk to me, Ami.”
Ami’s voice came over, sounding slightly amused. “Ryo does that to me, so I’ll let you off the hook.” Kyp heard the shuffling of papers before the Senshi continued. “This was definitely a typewriter job. I’m tracking down manufacturers as we speak, but I’m not sure if I’ll find anything.”
Kyp nodded. “I’ve got some tire tracks and boot imprints here, they may be clues.”
Ami’s voice came over again, this time with more enthusiasm. “That’s great! I’ll analyze them when you get back,” she said before hanging up.
A slow, creeping feeling walked up his spine. His green eyes slowly lifted to the house across the street. There was an alabaster wall separating it from the rest of the city. Several spikes discouraged would-be burglars-as well as several cameras. A smile crossed his lips as he jogged over to the house. “Please, please let one of them be pointed this way,” he muttered.
The Jedi master crouched down and attempted to angle his head in the direction the cameras pointed, using his peripheral vision. After a few tries, his mouth broke into a grin. “All right.”
He suddenly looked up and saw an elderly gentleman standing in front of the now-open gate. “May I talk to you for a moment?” the gentleman asked.
Kyp swallowed as his danger sense went off-but not in the usual way. “All right,” he said, his hand brushing against his lightsaber hilt as he followed the old man in.
The man touched a stone on the wall and the iron gate slid closed. “The robbers search for some sort of button, but never find it,” he said with a grin.
Kyp looked around the front lawn and his jaw dropped. Several workers trimmed a dozen trees while a large fountain stood in the middle of the path that led to the main house.
The man walked over, crossed his arms and looked up slightly at Kyp. “You are Kyp Durron, correct?”
Kyp maintained a poker face while turmoil raged inside him. “I am. Who are you?”
The man smiled and drew himself up to his full height. “My name is Yoshimistu Lee. My daughter was Makoto’s mother,” he stated with pride.
It took a few seconds for that information to sink into Kyp’s skull, but when it did… “Oh… oh… Hi!” He wiped his suddenly-sweaty palms on his pants and extended his hand to Lee. “I am happy to meet you.” He suddenly cocked his head to the side. “I thought you were dead.”
Lee glowered at the younger man and shook his head. “I’m old, but not that old.” His brown eyes narrowed. “I helped Makoto stay in her apartment and save the precious memories of her parents. I also financed her bakery.” His eyes clouded over for a second. “She even tried to pay me back, even though I told her not to.”
Lee cleared his throat and looked up at Kyp again. “Sir, what are your intentions toward my granddaughter? And what the hell were you doing near the wall?”
Kyp glanced back at the wall, then at Lee, than back at the wall. Finally, he locked his green eyes onto the man and spoke from the heart. “Sir, I love Makoto with all my heart and soul. I have not touched her beyond holding her in my arms and kissing her. And I won’t go any farther unless she wants to. I respect her too much to do otherwise.”
Lee nodded and Kyp’s danger sense faded a bit. “I like hearing that, young one. Respect is often lost on the younger ones.” He then motioned to the wall. “Now please explain that, Mister Durron.”
Kyp looked over his shoulder at the cameras. “I’m on the trail of a kidnapped girl, Mister Yoshimistu.” He told him about getting the kidnap note earlier in the day and following the trail to the park. The Jedi Master did omit, however, the part the Force played.
Lee nodded and then motioned to his house. “My files are yours, Mister Durron.”
Kyp started forward, then let out a groan. “I told Mako that I’d get dinner ready tonight.”
The older man smirked at that. “You’d better get going, then. It’ll take a bit for me to pull the appropriate discs.”
The Jedi bowed in thanks before dashing off to his home with Makoto.
Lee shook his head before turning and walking to his home. This Durron seems to have his head on straight, he thought. The old man turned back to the ornate mansion and headed in, wondering where the video files were again.
*****
Ten minutes later
Kyp ran back to the building where he and Makoto lived, his boots slapping against the pavement. Before leaving Lee’s mansion, he called Ami and updated her on what he found before telling her he’d be busy getting dinner ready. Within a few minutes, he arrived at his home in Tokyo.
The front of the building was dominated by Makoto’s bakery, but there was a door to other rooms tucked in on the side. He entered that and went took a left, stopping at his office and dropping the camera with the photos of the tire tracks and heel imprints off with Ami. He then exited and took another left. Kyp walked up to the elevator and telekinetically pressed the button, making sure the doors were open by the time he got there.
A few minutes later, he slid his house key into the lock and opened his door. Kyp made a beeline for the kitchen and pulled out several pans. “So, would she like traditional Japanese or something from the United States?” he muttered. The fridge door opened as he stepped over to it and levitated out some vegetables. They floated over to the cutting board laid in front of Kyp. “I’ll go with something simple.”
An hour later, Makoto walked up to their apartment, her nose already twitching. A smile crossed her face. “Kyp Durron, what did you do?” she asked herself. The door opened before her hand touched the handle and she walked in, noting Kyp sitting down at the table and food laid out.
He looked over with his green eyes and a tired smile crossed his mouth. “Hey, Mako. I made dinner.”
She walked over to her chair-they had favorite seats by now-and sat down. Her green eyes, a perfect match for Kyp’s, looked over the fettuccini alfredo and smiled. Thank you, honey,” she said, caressing his arm.
Kyp felt an electric tingle at her touch but said nothing. The two ate in companionable silence for a few minutes before Kyp cleared his throat. “How was your day?” he asked with feigned nonchalance.
Makoto looked up at him and arched an eyebrow. “You’re hiding something.”
Kyp put down his fork and sighed. I can’t hide anything from her. “Mako, I’ve got a case.” He then explained about Miss Mihama coming in and the kidnap note. “Ami’s gonna analyze the tire tracks for me, since she’s so good at that.”
Makoto nodded. “Make sure to pay her some money. She’s on Summer break right now from Tokyo University.”
Kyp nodded and cleared his throat. “I also… met your grandfather.”
Makoto, who was swallowing at the time, immediately began choking on her food and coughing. Her eyes watered as she shot out of her chair and sputtered. “You-you met Lee-san?”
Kyp nodded, a bit dumbstruck at her reaction. “Ah, yeah. Are you okay?”
Makoto finished coughing and took a sip of water. “I’m fine. It’s just-where did you meet him?”
The Jedi Master shrugged. “Actually, he met me. While investigating the crime scene, I was in front of his mansion and he came out. Scared the hell out of me, too.” He chuckled, then saw a wistful look on Makoto’s face. He got up, leaned over the table and waved his hand in front of her eyes. “Mako? Mako??”
Makoto snapped out of her daze. “Oh, sorry! I was just thinking of him. I haven’t seen him since I tried to return the loan he gave me.”
Kyp smirked at that. “He told me the same thing, Mako. He also grilled me on our relationship.”
Makoto blushed at that. “Oh, my,” she muttered.
Kyp’s eyebrow quirked at that. “What?”
Makoto slumped back in her chair while taking another bite of food. “It’s none of his business who I see!”
The Jedi master shrugged. “Well, he did approve of me.”
Makoto sat up straight. “Really? That’s great!”
Kyp nodded and smiled. “I’m going back there to retrieve some video discs. Wanna come?”
Makoto thought for a moment. “Well, we can go on my lunch hour. How’s that?”
He took a sip of juice and nodded. “Sounds great, Mako.”
Chapter Three: Family
The next day
Kyp stopped by his office and checked his answering machine. There was a message from Ami on his answering machine. “Master Durron, I’ve analyzed the tire tracks and have found them belonging to a custom limousine. They’re heavy-duty tread and bulletproof. Only one company makes this type of limo, so tracking it should be relatively easy.”
Kyp smiled, then walked out, closing and locking the door behind him. He walked across the hall to another door and opened it. It took his eyes a second to adjust from the darkened hallway to the brightness inside Makoto’s bakery.
He quickly spotted Makoto through the Force. The brunette Senshi was still in the back, getting a wedding cake ready. The cashier waved to him, recognizing from previous visits. Kyp waved back and rocked back and forth on his heels.
Within a few minutes, Makoto emerged from the back. She had changed from her chef clothes into a green knee-length dress and black sweatshirt. Makoto walked over and tilted her head up, kissing Kyp. “Ready?”
The Jedi Master chuckled and wiped a bit of flour from her nose. “I am, are you sure you are?”
She scowled and batted at his arm, but her eyes twinkled a bit. She threaded her arm around his muscular arm and the two walked out of the bakery. In front, Makoto cocked an eyebrow at the blue-haired med student parked in front. “And what are you doing here, Ami?”
Ami tilted her head to the side, closed her eyes and smiled. “I just thought you’d need a ride to your grandfather’s house. And I can analyze the video discs there.”
The blue-haired genius opened the door for Makoto and let her take the passenger seat, but Kyp sprinted around to the driver’s side and held the door open for Ami. “Thank you, Master Durron!” she said, curtsying.
Kyp waved her off. “Ami, stop calling me ‘Master’. You’re a Senior Jedi Knight now. Call me Kyp.”
Ami’s cheeks turned red and she stammered a bit. “Y-yes, Kyp.”
Both Makoto and Kyp exchanged looks of incredulity, but said nothing.
The drive over was relatively uneventful, although Kyp kept glancing down at the nylon seatbelts holding him in place. “So, these things are safe, right?” he asked, picking at the nylon fibers.
Ami arched an eyebrow at that. “Mast-Kyp, you flew through space at speeds unimagined on Earth while being held in place by such webbing.”
He shrugged. “Yeah, but that was in space, not on some asphalt road with actual wheels.” He glanced down at the floor. “How do they not shred themselves?”
Several silent minutes later, Ami’s Corolla pulled up to the front gate of Lee’s mansion. She rolled down the window and pressed the intercom button. “This is Mizuno Ami for Kyp Durron. We are here to see Yoshimistu Lee.” The gate slowly creaked open and Ami drove up to the huge mansion. She let out a gasp as she saw the manicured lawns and the fountain. “Makoto, you never told us about this!”
Makoto slid down into her seat and smiled nervously. “Well, it never came up. Besides, how do you think I lived by myself all those years?”
The three exited the car just as Makoto’s grandfather exited the mansion. He took one look at Makoto, then turned to Kyp. “You didn’t tell me you were bringing her along.” he stated, with just a hint of anger.
Kyp saw through his ruse through the Force and chuckled. “I figured I’d surprise you.”
Lee held his mouth in a straight line for a beat before he grinned and patted Kyp on the shoulder. “I knew I liked you.” He then turned to the most important person in his life and hugged her. “Oh, you’re so big!”
Makoto beamed as she hugged Lee, but a thread of doubt tugged at her. He’s so frail! Will this be the last time I see him?
Kyp’s voice sounded in her head. As long as you remember him, Lee will never truly be gone. And someday you’ll be reunited in the Force.
She glanced back at him and locked eyes with him. Thank you, Kyp, she said to him through the Force.
Grandfather and granddaughter broke the embrace-albeit reluctantly. He then turned to Kyp and held out a CD case. “Here are the records from that camera for yesterday. I hope you can do something for poor Yotsuba.” At Kyp’s look of confusion, Lee smiled and shrugged. “We play bridge on Sundays.”
Ami stepped forward and took the case. She then bowed and spoke. “Sir, I thank you for these. I swear on my oath as-” A mental warning from both Makoto and Kyp caused her to gasp. “-as… A Tokyo University student that we will find Chiyo-Chan.” She turned and speed-walked away from the others, face burning red.
Lee arched an eyebrow at her. “She’s an odd one…” he muttered. He then turned to Makoto and took her hand. “Well, let’s get caught up.”
Kyp looked back at Ami, and then at Makoto, and then at Lee. He cleared his throat and pointed at the retreating Ami. “I’d better go help her out.” He leaned down and kissed Makoto on the cheek. “I’ll see you later,” he said before turning and leaving.
Lee looked up at Makoto. “He loves you, but he’s not aware of how deeply he loves you.”
Makoto turned her green eyes back to Lee and let out a small sigh. “I think you’re right, Lee-san. I see something in his eyes, but there’s something in his past as well. I don’t know what it is, though.”
Lee’s heart went out for her. “He’ll come around. I’m sure of it.”
At the car, Ami opened the case and gingerly removed the first disc. She placed her mini-computer on the roof of the car and used the Force to open it up. “I programmed my computer to scan for Chiyo-Chan’s face,” she explained. She then placed the disc into the opened CD-ROM tray and closed it.
A soft whirring emanated from the blue case as the internal scanner read the data on the disc. The viewscreen showed a rapid-fire montage of images. Finally, it stopped and began playing at normal speed. A video of Chiyo-Chan skipping down the sidewalk was shown.
Kyp felt a lump in his throat form as he saw a black limo pull up alongside the young teenager. Rough hands reached out and pulled her in before the limo sped away. Although it only took a few seconds, Kyp knew that to Chiyo-Chan, it must’ve been an eternity. Suddenly, he half-shouted, “Freeze!”
Ami’s hands danced across the keyboard and the image froze. Most of the limo was out of the shot, but the license plate had been partially exposed. Ami bit her lip in concentration. “I think I can enhance the image.” The shot of the limo’s rear expanded, turning grainier in the process. A small box appeared around the license plate and it began clearing up, forming itself into several numbers.
Kyp licked his lips. “Can you get an address on that limo?” he asked.
Ami silently nodded and began hacking into the DMV.
Kyp looked up and ran over to Makoto and Lee. “We’ve got a license plate. Ami’s running it down.”
Makoto clenched her fist and scowled. “We must find the scum responsible for this!”
Kyp’s mouth dropped in surprise. “ ‘We’?”
The brunette nodded, her green eyes narrowing. “Don’t think you can keep me out of this, Kyp. You need me for this one.”
The Jedi master glanced at Lee, but the old man simply shook his head. “Once Makoto gets an idea into her head, there’s no stopping her.”
Ami suddenly ran over. “I’ve got an address!” She turned her computer around so Kyp and Makoto could see it. “It is owned by a member of the Yakuza. And guess what? He owns an old warehouse down at Tokyo Bay!”
Kyp and Makoto both looked up into each other’s eyes. I saw her in a warehouse. She’s there!
Makoto looked back down and patted Ami on the shoulder. “Nice job, Ami.” She looked back at her grandfather and hugged him. “I have to go, now,” she said.
Lee nodded and squeezed. “Be careful, Makoto.” He broke the embrace and looked over at Kyp. “And keep her safe, Mister Durron.”
Kyp bowed to him and spoke. “I swear that I shall die before letting harm come to Makoto.”
Lee waved him off. “If you die, you’ll cause harm to her heart and soul. So don‘t die!”
Kyp slowly straightened himself out and paused before speaking. “Oh. Well… okay.” He, Ami and Makoto exchanged a glance and nodded simultaneously. “Let’s get that kid back home.”
Chapter Four: Cracking the Case
Tokyo Harbor
Ami drove her Corolla along a row of dilapidated warehouses, each one more decrepit than the next. Makoto shook her head at the decay and had to suppress an urge to clean the entire place up-as Sailor Jupiter. In the back seat, Kyp sat cross-legged and meditated, trying to home in on Chiyo-Chan.
His eyes darted back and forth beneath his eyelids as he scanned the surrounding area. “Turn left,” he mumbled.
The Corolla turned and went down an alleyway barely wider than the frame. Ami kept a straight course, guiding the car down and not even getting a nick in the paint. They emerged into an open area surrounded by numerous buildings. Kyp spoke up again. “Stop.” His green eyes opened. “She’s in one of the buildings.”
Ami pulled out her mini-computer and switched the scanners to thermal mode. The blue-haired Senshi scanned the area around the car. “I detect twenty-one heat signatures consistent with human beings, all concentrated in the building to our left. One of them is smaller than the others.”
Makoto snapped her fingers at that. “That one’s got to be Chiyo-Chan!”
Kyp nodded and let himself sink into the Force a bit. His danger sense was at normal levels and Chiyo-Chan’s life force was strong. He unclipped his lightsaber and held out his right hand, but he hesitated before transforming into Tuxedo Deyer.
Makoto felt his hesitation and looked back at him. “Are you all right?” she asked.
He shook his head. “Should I transform into Tuxedo Deyer? I don’t wanna blow my cover as a normal person.”
Ami glanced at Makoto before looking back at Kyp. “Kyp, you do remember that we have an aura about us that prevents us from being recognized, right?”
The Jedi Master chuckled nervously at that and both ladies ignored the embarrassment wafting off of him. A silver rose formed in his hand and his street clothes changed into a tuxedo, complete with flowing cape, top hat and mask over his eyes.
Makoto and Ami both hefted their transformation wands and shouted,
“Mercury Crystal Power Makeup!”
“Jupiter Crystal Power Makeup!”
The interior of the car was filled with bluish energy and green lightning. When they faded a half-second later, Sailors Mercury and Jupiter sat. Mercury wrinkled her nose and sighed. “Oh, it’ll take me a week to get the ozone smell out!”
Jupiter sighed and unclipped her double-bladed lightsaber from her green miniskirt. “Come on, Ami!” She opened the door and leapt out, rolling a bit before coming up in a crouch with the two blades extended.
Mercury and Deyer simply opened their doors, closed them and walked over. “They don’t know we’re here,” Deyer said, extending a hand to her.
Jupiter looked up at him. “Oh, really?” She took Deyer’s hand and got to her feet. The three made their way over to the side of the building Ami scanned and found the thermal signatures in.
Deyer found an old fire escape ladder and climbed it, keeping mental contact with Jupiter. He found a window and peered in, seeing a young girl tied up in the middle of the room. He could feel massive amounts of fear from her. Various gang members were scattered about. All were armed with pistols in shoulder holsters and some carried pump-action shotguns.
He noted their positions and sent his girlfriend a message through the Force. There’s twenty of them scattered about, no early warning system. Several rows of crates are along the walls, but the interior is open space. Chiyo-Chan is right in the middle.
Jupiter nodded and shot a message back. Understood. Any suggestions on how to proceed? This is more your area than ours.
The Guardian shrugged. I’ll distract them. You then break into the front door and start shooting.
Jupiter audibly gasped. “Wait, Kyp!”
*****
Tuxedo Deyer ran up the fire escape until he hit the roof. He jumped up and landed on the asphalt, breaking into a run to one of the skylights. Deyer unclipped his lightsaber and ignited it, sending forth a violet plasma blade. He stopped at the skylight and sliced at the glass, cutting it and shattering the pane, sending shards of razor-sharp glass tumbling into the warehouse.
While several thugs dodged out of the way, Deyer stepped through the hole and fell to the floor. Using the Force to cushion his fall, he landed and brandished his lightsaber. “Halt, evil ones! Your crimes have-whoa!” He dodged to the right even as a thug raised his shotgun and fired, sending a cloud of lead his way.
At the same time, the front doors burst open and Sailors Jupiter and Mercury strode forth, both silhouetted by the light streaming in. Jupiter raised her arms to her chest and crossed them. “Supreme Thunder!” she shouted. Bluish-white bolts of lightning streamed around her forearms and shot out, enveloping the nearest five thugs and sending them crashing to the ground, limbs twitching.
Mercury, meanwhile, held her hands together and shouted, “Shabon Spray!” A ball of bluish-white energy formed and she threw it into the warehouse. It expanded and turned into a luminous fog. The thugs were immediately blinded and began stumbling around, unable to fire for fear of hitting each other.
Deyer, Jupiter and Mercury, however, had no such problems. They quickly moved through the fog and disabled each one. Finally, they stood before Chiyo-Chan.
She looked up at them and gasped. “Who-who are you?” she asked. The three were visible to her, but only in silhouette. Details were obscured by the fog.
Jupiter placed a hand on her hip and thrust her right hand out, fingers in a victory pose. “Warriors for love and justice, we are the pretty sailor-suited Senshi! Sailor Jupiter!”
Mercury sidled up to the taller brunette and posed. “And Sailor Mercury! With Tuxedo Deyer, we are the guardians of Tokyo!”
Deyer pulled out a silver rose and held it up to his nose, sniffing it. “We shall clean out the criminal element and save the innocent. In the name of the Moon and the Force…”
All three stood up straight and half-shouted, “We’ll punish the enemy!”
Mercury waved her hands in front of Chiyo-Chan, using the Force to undo the ropes.
The young girl with pigtails got to her feet and rubbed her arms in an attempt to get circulation going. “Thank you, all!”
Deyer tipped his hat, and the three vanished into the fog.
A few minutes later, the fog dissipated completely, leaving Chiyo-Chan alone in the warehouse with the thugs. She suddenly saw three other people walking in, a man and two women.
“Are you Mihama Chiyo?” the man asked.
She nodded mutely. “Yeah. Say, did you see three other people-”
She was cut off when the man waved his hand. “There were no other people,” he stated.
Chiyo-Chan’s eyes went blank. “There were no other people.”
The taller woman pulled out a cell phone and dialed a number. “Tokyo PD? We’d like to report a kidnapping.”
Epilogue
“Here is the money I was going to pay the kidnappers. I must admit, Mister Durron, I wasn’t sure if you’d get my darling Chiyo-Chan back, but I’m glad I was proven wrong.”
Kyp took the case of 500,000 yen and swallowed. “I’m glad to be of help, ma’am.” Yotsuba bowed and left Kyp’s office, leaving him alone with Makoto and Ami. He opened the leather briefcase and let out a whistle. “This’ll go a long way to my expenses.” He then took out a stack of bills, ran his fingers along them and handed it to Ami. “This is for you, kid. 50,000 yen. I figure 10% is a good cut.”
The blue-haired genius gasped and took the money with almost reverence. “Thank you, Kyp,” she said, bowing.
Makoto grinned and ran her fingers through his jet-black hair. “Nice job, Kyp. Now I remember why I love you so much.”
Kyp turned his head and locked his green eyes with Makoto’s identical orbs. “You love me?”
Ami discretely made her way to the exit while Makoto arched an eyebrow at him. “Ah, yeah. What, you did-” She stopped talking as Kyp suddenly grasped her shoulders and pulled her in for a soul-searing kiss. Surprise melted into joy as Makoto returned the kiss. For an eternity, both stood there, their lips locked.
Finally, Kyp broke it off. “I love you, too.”

You know, I started a reply on Monday. But then my computer crashed and I lost the epic I'd been typing and I was so disgusted I put it off until today! ^_^;;;
And you knocked into someone, Force-levitated them while kissing them?
Ah ah aaaah! I don't kiss and tell!
IIRC, last time you actually DID like John with Lyria. Heck, he's the same guy here, actually.
Oh. Cool! No, I know that John hasn't been changed, I just thought I had taken a while to get used to him last time, and this time not so much.
And yes, the smooth is strong in Lando.
Oh, he needs that embroidered on a throw pillow!
All the previous 3NSS meterial has been edited and rewritten. So this is... it.
You mean except for new stuff, right?
...
RIGHT?!
The lights suddenly brightened and Lyria stood up. She turned and saw Luke and Mara standing there.
*Jaded_Girl has a massive "awwwww" fest* That's... so... PERFECT! The visual personification of their relationship with her. Always behind her, ready to help but not forcing themselves into her life. *siiiiiiiigh*
She crossed her arms and shrugged. “I know you’re right, but I’m still a bit worried about him. He always did get into trouble during our missions.”
*little plot and pic bunnies nibble at her ankles...* XD
~Mara stifled a sigh. “She’s not our little girl anymore, is she?”
~Luke wrapped his arms around her and pulled his wife in for a hug. “She’ll always be our little girl, love..."
~The two stood there for a long time before leaving the com center and going back up to their room.
My mom says what Luke said about me and my siblings too! *sniffle*
~Suddenly, long fingers darted out and stabbed several number combinations. “He’s there.”
~Anja glanced over and looked at the hyperspace coordinates. “You realize that area’s loaded with ion storms?”
Exactly!
The Jedi Knight slowly stirred to life and looked up, his blue eyes half-closed. “Are you two angels?” he croaked out.
Oi. I think that line has only SLIGHTLY greater sucess rate than "Now if we can just avoid any more feminine advice..."
John shuddered. “She’s a bit crazy.”
Tenel Ka smiled and motioned to the last open area. “I am glad you could join us, niece.” She then picked up a tea cup with her hand and took a sip of the imaginary tea.
Ohhh TOO CUTE! I especially love the above! There is something about Tenel Ka's dignity and stoicism that makes this line especially priceless.
Jaina choked back tears as she smothered Serena in a hug. “My baby’s grown up!” she wailed.
There's something about this that hit me. It's... well, it's JAINA. Jaina "Firends Help Each Other" Solo. Not that it's out of character! But it's so funny seeing her with a daughter as old as she was in the YJK! But it's a good funny! ^_^
What’s even better is he didn’t transform into Tuxedo Neo-Deyer.
Question! Neo-Uranus and Neo-Bespin... are they in tuxedos? Or in something else, since they're taking over their repective mom's (?) planets? Not that I'm saying I'm imagining John in a fetching little mini-skirt, but I was wondering what you had something different in mind for their uniforms...
Zekk motioned to the two to look over at him. “And here’s the happy couple! Smile for the holo-cam, you two crazy kids!”
Uhhhnnnnggghh. *crawls under a rock*
Trees lining the streets were in full cherry blossom bloom, lending a dreamlike quality to the whole affair.
*snort* Yeah. Crystal Alderaan WOULD have imported cherry trees, wouldn't they?
~Lyria shrugged. “We just make sure the kids behave themselves.”
~The younger Jedi Knight looked around. “And if they are?” he asked, seeing no signs of misbehavior anywhere.
Yeah, for ONCE! Bet Lyria nailed 'em to the wall and told them that if anyone messed up her first date in seven centuries she'd erase their miserable existence!
And now... here it is. I'll admit, I'm a bit giddy, doing this. Wow, it's been... almost seven years since I started this. *Bows to all his readers*
WOW!!! *bows back and scatters confetti around*
Striker, BEST... OPENING... EVER!!!
The second case was even worse: a child hired him to find his stuffed bear. It was the ten most humiliating minutes of Kyp’s life.
ROTFLMAO! Poor Kyp! ^_^;;;
Kyp smirked. “Hey, my middle name is caution.” And with those final words, he left.
Yeah, but his first name is "Lacks".
First thing I do when I get paid is get a bike, he thought.
I'm sorry, but the mental image of Kyp pedaling around Toyko in an impatient, determined fury is simultaneously hilarious and adorable.
Kyp suddenly reached into his jacket and pulled out his cell phone a full half-second before it rang. “Talk to me, Ami.”
Awesome!! ^_^
Ami’s voice came over, sounding slightly amused. “Ryo does that to me, so I’ll let you off the hook.”
See above! ^_^
Mako's ojii-chan is super cool!
Makoto, who was swallowing at the time, immediately began choking on her food and coughing. Her eyes watered as she shot out of her chair and sputtered. “You-you met Lee-san?”
I love her reaction! It's very telling. I dunno, can't exactly explain it, but somehow it just perfectly fleshes out their relationship! Kudos, Striker.
The drive over was relatively uneventful, although Kyp kept glancing down at the nylon seatbelts holding him in place. “So, these things are safe, right?” he asked, picking at the nylon fibers.
Makoto turned her green eyes back to Lee and let out a small sigh. “I think you’re right, Lee-san. I see something in his eyes, but there’s something in his past as well. I don’t know what it is, though.”
Oh boy. He hasn't told her? It's kinda strange, because everyone in the GFFA knows about Kyp's... past, but the Milky Way newbies would have no way of knowing- especially ones like Mako who are unlikely to research local history. Interesting.
~Kyp bowed to him and spoke. “I swear that I shall die before letting harm come to Makoto.”
~Lee waved him off. “If you die, you’ll cause harm to her heart and soul. So don‘t die!”
~Kyp slowly straightened himself out and paused before speaking. “Oh. Well… okay.”
Ah, the Kaoru lesson. Fab. And love the emotional foreshadowing of Kyp's reaction.
Makoto shook her head at the decay and had to suppress an urge to clean the entire place up-as Sailor Jupiter.
Best line in this arc!
The interior of the car was filled with bluish energy and green lightning. When they faded a half-second later, Sailors Mercury and Jupiter sat. Mercury wrinkled her nose and sighed. “Oh, it’ll take me a week to get the ozone smell out!”
Well, they won't be doing that again!
Using the Force to cushion his fall, he landed and brandished his lightsaber. “Halt, evil ones! Your crimes have-whoa!” He dodged to the right even as a thug raised his shotgun and fired, sending a cloud of lead his way.
Best scene award! I nearly fell out of my chair!
Oh, and I loved Kyp tipping his hat to Chiyo-chan!
And Kyp's reaction to Mako's declaration of love!
AND I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT POST! I adore fish-out-of-water stories! Up up up up UP!

The ending to both arcs were excellent. The Crystal Alderaan one ended on a light note with the prom...and that's excellent. Especially considering what went on in that one. And Kyp's first detective case was done pretty well too. So...he hasn't told Makoto about stealing the Sun Crusher and blowing up a few solar systems huh? At least that's what I'm assuming that Kyp hasn't told Makoto about from his past yet.
Great post there! And I'm really looking forward to the new arcs!

SSM12-lol. Well, not everything, but close enough. And yeah, weddings galore. I love weddings!
Jaded_Girl-Dang, that sucks. Sorry to hear about the crash. Oh, okay. Now I get what you mean about John. Yes, I mean except for the new stuff! I'm glad you like Luke and Mara with Lyria, there. *Feeds the pic bunnies* Yes, I meant to mock that line. Tenel Ka would do anything for her daughters, natch. I'm glad it's a good funny with Jaina and Serena.
Neo-Uranus is in a tux, but Neo-Bespin is in something similar to what Lando would wear. For the Guardians, they either wear tuxedos, or some other formal wear before upgrading to the Endymion armor. Yes, Crystal Alderaan has cherry blossom trees. Thanks for the confetti. Yes, poor Kyp. And glad you like the opening. Kyp's not a chicken for being wary of our motor vehicles. No, he hasn't told her. I'm not sure how she finds out, actually.
baf-Thanks. yeah, it needed a bit of lightness at the end. No, he hasn't told her. And glad you like that arc, too.
Okay... it's time. A new arc! A new theme song!
'Fighting Dreamers' is from the Naruto anime. And I don't use it all, either. Here's a link to the song. I'd like to thank DarthIshtar for helping me get the lyrics together.
