	So far, I'm really enjoying this story arc. The trials are so cool! Loved Anakin's... though this did jump out at me: He finally focused on his opponent, who stood there waiting for him. It was him, or rather, an idealized version. He stood straight and tall, hands holding his lightsaber in a perfect guard. “Come on,” ‘Anakin’ said. “Have at thee, Sith beast!” Sorry, it's the "thee" bit. Whenever an enemy/vision of yourself starts throwing archaic terms around, you know they mean business. Loved it! -----signature----- Nat is my new Muse. 	Wow. I think after this one, there's only 1-2 more posts for this arc! I might get this done before the end of the millennium! Maaaan... you keep taunting me. It's like you're BEGGING me to breed plot bunnies! I can only take so much provocation!!! He tugged down briefly on his shirt before turning to his two best friends. The Picard Maneuver! He saw confidence on Tahiri’s face, worry on Hotaru’s-and felt the opposite emotions from them. Such an interesting microcosm of their respective relationships. Excellent observation. Anakin scrambled to his feet, but he felt weighed down and clunky. He held his arms up, but stopped as he saw them clad in onyx-black armor. He patted down his chest, finding a metallic box implanted onto… armor of some sort. Mua ha ha haaa... Soooo eeeevil! “I’ll vanquish the villain!” he shouted, slashing at Anakin. “And I can put it to rest!” Mmmm. The subconscious quest! Very very good. Anakin grinned. “I learned what my name is.” Uber-cool line! And boy, he was in turbo mode! Less than a minute? Those wacky Jedi visions. The phantom smiled before walking forward. Saturn closed her eyes as her mirror began fading, becoming insubstantial. It passed through her, vanishing at the exact moment they touched. Her shoulders slumped as she reverted back to Tomoe Hotaru and left the room. Oooh hoo! Shivers! Neat! ^_^ She looked at her two friends, her gaze lingering on Anakin a half-second longer than Tahiri. “Shall we get some lunch?” Awesome end for this post! I've messes it up already twice. This is the final post of this arc. Can you believe it? One more arc to go! Here we go! ***** Four days after the defeat of Xim the Despot The only sound in the hallways was Lusa’s hooves as she trotted through the corridors, the clomping drowning out every other sound. Her eyes darted about the stone walls, never settling on anything too long. “I’m not sure I’m ready for this,” she confessed to her companions. Jaina patted her flank, sending soothing emotions and thought through the contact. “We’re here for you,” she reassured one of her oldest friends. “We may not be there with you inside, but we’ll be outside, thinking of you.” Raynar shook his head. We will be with you. In spirit, at least.” His eyes focused on a door near the end of the corridor. “Where are we going, anyway?” Lusa shrugged as she slowed down. “Master Skywalker told me it was an empty room, one of the few left in here.” A rueful smile crossed her lips. “No wonder we’ve got the Dantooine Enclave set up.” She stopped at the door and swallowed, her hearts thudding in both her humanoid body and her equine lower half. “I…” She suddenly reached out, grabbed the handle and turned it, opening the door and dashing inside. Raynar and Jaina blinked-and the door was closed, sealing Lusa off. “Be safe,” Raynar whispered. ***** Lusa pawed at the ground a bit, not sure what would show up. “Hello?” she called out to the shadows. “I should’ve picked a room with windows,” she growled out. Her eyes quickly focused on the far corner of the room. A small girl suddenly appeared, with brown hair and dimples. “Why do you hate yourself?” a young Jaina Solo asked. Lusa’s breath shuddered slightly. “I-I don’t hate myself,” she stuttered out. She placed a hand on her chest. “Why do you think I do… or why do I think I do?” She paused and blinked twice. “Oh, my.” Young Jaina cocked her head to the side. “You hurt. You punish yourself for mistakes you made, but why?” She eyed Lusa warily. “Haven’t you made up for them?” Lusa choked out a sob. She knelt down, her four legs collapsing underneath her. “I let hate rule my life,” she said, clutching her arms around her humanoid body and letting tears fall from her eyes. “I have to make up for that!” The young girl walked over and placed a hand on Lusa’s arm. “But… you still let it rule,” she said before vanishing. Lusa sucked in a breath at her words. She wiped her eyes and cheeks before standing up on shaky legs. Did I do that? Did I replace outer loathing for inner loathing? What do I have to make up for? She suddenly stopped and turned around as the door opened once more. Raynar peeked his head inside the door, relief evident on his face and through the Force. “Thank goodness!” he said, walking in and hugging her. “I was so worried!” Lusa smiled and returned the hug as Jaina walked in, wrapping her own arms around the Chironian. “I just needed the wisdom of a child,” she said. She broke the embrace and turned to Jaina. “Thanks.” Jaina’s mouth opened slightly. “For what?” Lusa smirked as she and Raynar left the room. “I’ll tell you someday.” The young woman stood there as her two friends left. “Why doesn’t anyone tell me anything??” she cried out, throwing her hands up in the air. “Hey, wait up!” ***** Twelve days after the defeat of Xim the Despot Sannah paced in her room, hands clasped behind her back. “I’m not ready. I’m ready. I’m not ready. I’m ready,” she mumbled. Her head shot up and she stopped in her tracks. “It’s open!” The door opened, allowing Ami, Anakin and Tahiri entrance into the sparsely-decorated room. “Are you all right?” Ami asked. “You haven’t taken your Final Trial, and-” “I’m fine,” Sannah barked out, stopping in mid-stride. She pivoted on the ball of her foot and faced the three with unblinking yellow eyes. “I’ve just been… busy is all.” Anakin crossed his arms and bore into her with his own fierce gaze. “This isn’t something you can put off, Sannah. You have two days before the Knighting Ceremony. Why wait on it?” Sannah suddenly snorted. “Oh, wow. You’re trying to stare me down? Your aunt doesn’t frighten me, Anakin. And your ‘glare’ is strictly lower-case.” She stepped forward. “I am my own woman, and I’ll do it on my own terms.” Tahiri spoke up. “That’s it,” she said. “You’re your ‘own woman’.” She walked around to Sannah’s right. “You’re alone, or you think you are.” Sannah’s mouth opened for a moment before she shrugged, throwing her hands up in the air. “Oh for the love of the Thermals!” she cried out. “Yes, I know. I have friends,” she said, motioning to the three,” but it’s a little different when your people throw you out and make you an outcast because you breathe air instead of water.” She growled slightly and plopped onto her bed, crossing her arms. “So what will my Trial be like, then? A bunch of people looking at me and pointing?” The three walked over to her, Ami and Tahiri sitting down next to her. “You won’t know until you go,” Ami said quietly. “We can’t be there inside, but believe me when I say this, we’ll be outside for when you leave.” The young Melodie groaned before leaning back and staring up onto the ceiling. Oh, all right! Let’s go before the saccharine in the room destroys my teeth.” ***** The ride up to the Grand Audience Chamber was silent. When the turbolift car stopped, Sannah turned to everyone. “I’ll be all right. And… thanks,” she said, blushing a deep red. The door started sliding open, but Anakin caught it with the Force so it would only open enough for Sannah to slip through. “We’ll be right here,” he said. “You’ll be all right, though. I know it.” Sannah swallowed and tried to speak, but the words jammed up in her throat and she dashed out of the car, the door sliding shut behind her. She looked around, not sure why the spaces between the benches were so steeped in shadows, or where the clouds came from the block the light from filtering through the skylights. “Hey!” she shouted, looking around and moving forward. “I’m ready! Hit me with my best shot, inner something or other! I can take it!” she yelled, the last words coming out in a screech. Movement out of the corner of her eye caught her attention. She turned and walked to one of the benches facing the dais. “Oh, you gotta be kriffin’ me,” she said as she saw water, held in place as if by a force field. “Yeah, I know what I lost!’ she shouted. “Do I need a reminder?” “Are you sure?” a voice from behind said, startling her and causing her to whip out her transformation wand and lightsaber. “Melodie Power Makeup!” she shouted. A large sphere of water surrounded her, shrinking down and forming a light purple Sailor Fuku with matching skirt and high heels. A half-second later, Sailor Melodie stood there. “Okay, I-Lyric?” A redheaded mermaid poked her head out from another pool of water, her yellow eyes as sad as Melodie’s was angry. “Hello,” she said. “I’m sorry to see you like this, my old friend.” Sannah grunted. “You’re not her,” she said. “You’re some facet of my darkness, my inner self.” She sank down onto one of the benches that didn’t have water floating beside it. Confusion flickered across her face. “Wait, why do you represent my inner darkness?” Lyric shook her head. “I represent that which you hide the most; your happiness and joy. It’s buried under pain, agony and despair.” She began fading, but not before speaking once more, her voice echoing throughout the cavernous chamber. “Let others in, Sannah. Let your heart be free…” ***** The turbolift doors slid open, allowing Anakin, Tahiri and Ami entrance to the Grand Audience Chamber. They quickly found Sannah, sitting with her back against one of the walls, hugging her knees to her chest and sobbing. Her eyes were bloodshot as tears streamed down her cheeks. Anakin knelt by her and placed a hand on her shoulder. “It’s all right,” he murmured. Sannah nodded, hiccupping slightly. She cried in silence for what seemed like hours, surrounded by friends… by her family. Epilogue One day after the knighting ceremony Tenel Ka stood outside of Luke’s office for five full minutes before raising her hand to knock on the door. Before her hand reached the wood, Luke’s voice called from behind it. “It’s open, Tenel Ka.” The door swung open and she stepped inside. Luke was sitting behind his desk, a single datapad in his hand. He looked up and smiled. “What can I do for you?” he asked, respecting her privacy, but making sure at least she was all right. Tenel Ka swallowed, feeling very nervous. “Mast-Luke,” she said, sighing. “Could you help me? I… wish to get a prosthetic. A new arm.” Luke paused before smiling warmly and motioning to the chair. “Sit down, Tenel Ka. We have much to discuss.” The End ***** Please read and review. 	You don't mind over the top? Thank you. (And now... a catch-up review for ya because last week's was lacking in feedback/review thingies. Beware classes with the title Psychology of Stress and Coping... it might just lead to actually BEING stressed out. Ow...) Hotaru’s violet eyes flashed. “I’m nervous,” she admitted, rubbing the knuckles of one hand with the palm of the other. “Raynar got physically hurt in his. What’s in store for us?” Don't fear the tests, kid. (And while Raynar did indeed get hurt, I think he learned something from it...) Are all the tests being held in a closet? Interesting... Anakin up against... a dark side version of himself? Woah... “I am Anakin Solo, not Anakin Skywalker!” The gloves came next, allowing him to rip off the padding over his arms. “I am to redeem my grandfather’s name, not follow his path!” The life-support system followed, along with the rest of his armor. “I am me, not him!” YES!!!! Go Anakin! (And he is... very much his own person. Have to wonder if Leia really thought about the ramifications of naming her son after her father and then not completely explaining that, though he carries the name, his name does not define him...) Tahiri learning how to be calm and still... well done. “You took advantage of my father and myself, letting Mistress Nine loose in my mind and giving me nightmares that still haunt me to this day! You attempted to invade Earth and wipe out humanity, forcing my hand. I wish I didn’t have to destroy your star system… but under the same circumstances, I would do the same thing!” It's a wonder that Hotaru-chan is as strong as she is, isn't it? Go Firefly! (Very cool, that entire scene...) Looking at Jade_girl's review, I was all "she is so right about that Picard Maneuver." Lusa... it's not easy to forgive one's self after committing acts like that, and I can see why she'd still be blaming herself for it. But ghost-Jaina is right... time to forgive and move on, if not forget. Sannah putting it off... yep, could so see her doing that. (She's not scared by Mara's glare of doom? It seemed especially pertinent in light of the NJO and recent novels. If only he hadn't stopped. Apparently "Invincible" began each chapter with a joke that he told in the YJK books. I need help again, please. Saikor Belkadan-How would you see her? What would her Fuku colors be, her powers? Any advice/suggestions would be more than welcome. And now... it begins. The opening theme this time around is 'Hero's Comeback' from the Naruto: Shippuden anime. Full version TV version Here we go! ***** Part Fifteen: They came from the Unknown! The Senshi’s fight against the Vong Opening five seconds focus on Sailor Saturn standing in shadow, Silence Glaive in hand as she stands in a field of grass Tooku de kikoeru koe wo hinto ni (A voice heard in the distance gives me a hint) Hotaru cocks her head to the side, her face sliding more into the light. She turns around at the waist Hitori mata hitori tachiagaru doushi (One by one like-minded people are standing up) She sees Anakin, Jagged Fel and a blond-haired woman about her age standing off in the distance Kurikaesu dake no fudan doori kutsugaesu (Lets overturn all the everyday, monotonous things) Cut to a fleet of Yuuzhan Vong warships advancing upon Serndipal Junbi iize are you ready? (I'm ready, are you ready?) Camera sweeps to the right, and we see New Republic Defense Force vessels approaching from low orbit, spreading out Karadajuu furuwasu shindou ni hageshiku uchinarase yo stomping (A shiver spreads through my body, violently ringing stomping) Zoom in on the flagship, and we see Traest Kre’fey looking out the main viewport, fur bristling Taezu tsuki ugokasu call me kawarazu yuru ga nutsukamu story (Constantly stirring in me, it calls me, catching that changing, shaking story, Come on!!) We see the blond standing alone in the field, holding a transformation wand Come on!! (Come on!!) Everybody stand up! Agero kyou ichiban no jikan da (Everybody stand up! Today's the best time to get up!) She is enveloped by orange energy and, a split-second later, emerges as Sailor Belkadan Me ni mo tomaranu supiido hanta (Before my eyes you still don't stop, speed hunter) She sprints past Jagged Fel, who watches her intently Daremo ga mina toriko kanban yeah! (Come on!) (Everyone is a victim to that attraction, Yeah! (Come on!)) We cut to the blond and Jag standing together, holding hands and leaning close to one another… Everybody hands up! Matashita na hero's come back!! (Everybody Hands up! It's the highly anticipated Hero's Come Back!) Cut to Hotaru, transforming into Sailor Saturn and Anakin into Tuxedo Titan Zujou kazoe yubi oru count down (Hold up your fingers and count down) Ikuze 3-2-1 make some noise! (Let's go, 3-2-1 make some noise!) Close up of her hand counting down with the song before the Silence Glaive appears in it What you gonna do? What you gonna do? (What you gonna do? What you gonna do?) We see a group of Vong standing around a table that seems to have grown out of the deck. All three resemble each other Taemanaku nari hibiki kizamu (Carving out that incessantly ringing sound) Deja vu yori mo gotsui shougeki ga (It's a shock greater than dejavu) We see Sailor Corellia, firing off a Corellia Starburst at a group of Vong warriors and blowing them back Zenshin wo hashiri hanasan break it down (It runs through my body relentlessly, a break down) It strobes across the camera view, breaking off and showing Sailor Dathomir with her lightsaber and sakabato out, slashing at them as she runs through their ranks at breakneck speed Turn it up (Turn it up) hey kikoekka? (Turn it up (turn it up) Hey, can you hear it?) Sakenda kinou made no koto ga (I had been screaming it since yesterday) Camera pans back, revealing Sailors Chiron, Tatooine and Tuxedo Bornaryn, shouting as they charge Kawaru darou madaminu asu e (It's changing, to the unseen tomorrow) Scene changes to Anakin and Hotaru, falling through some space Koborete afureta omoi no bun made (To the point my emotions overflow and spill over) They reach bout and their fingers intertwine before their hands grab firmly Machinimatta show time saitechiru shukumei (The anticipated Show time where fate blooms and scatters) Cut to a similar scene with Jag and the girl Dochira ni katamuku shouhai no yukue (Is it more inclined to victory or defeat?) They reach out for each other… but miss. She falls away from him, screaming Agura kaiterya kyou nimo tsubureru (Even though I sit, I'll still collapse today) Close-up on Jag’s face as it twists in anguish Nagashita chi to ase onore de nugue (Wipe away your sweat and blood) The scene changes to Saturn, wielding her Silence Glaive Negai mo puraido mo fukume subete wo seotta tagai no haigo (Your wishes, your pride, all of them are piled on your back0 She collapses to her knees, tears streaming down her face Nasake wo kaketerya dame ninaru ze (So have no mercy) Pan up and we see a shadowy, distorted version of Saturn looming over. She reaches out and we see her face is partly skeletal Tamote potensharu mentaru men (Keep your potential, your mental expressions) Anakin places a hand on her shoulders and the distorted version retreats, fading away* Neko mo shakushi mo matta you na hiiroo (It's like everyone and their mother has been waiting for a hero) We pan up to space and orbit, with Rogue Squadron engaged in dogfights with coralskippers Hitoban dake no goran, roman hikou (I saw the romantic flight in just one night) Zoom in on one of the cockpits, and we see Gavin Darklighter, a look of intense concentration on his face Oo ii nee sonnan ja nee sa (Isn't that great? It's not like that) Kick on the corner mada tari nee ka? (Kick on the corner, isn't that enough for you?) Pan back down and we see Saturn standing in the field. She looks up and we see her eyes are glowing violet Itsumo to chigau hijou na jinkaku mamoru no sa subete (I protect all of those different, cold-hearted personalities) We see the distorted image again, grinning maniacally Like a taamineetaa (Like a Terminator) Yon kai, go kai de tatsu hairaito (fly high, yeah!) (4 times, 5 times stand up, highlight (Fly high, yeah!)) Saturn leaps into the air, flying up. We pull back and see Titan running after her, hand outstretched Isso kono ba de tsutaetaru zo (I might as well tell you all about it) Saturn looks down and her eyes change back to normal Everybody stand up! Agero kyou ichiban no jikan da (Everybody stand up! Today's the best time to get up!) We see the Senshi and Tuxedo Guardians in a group, attacks and shields at the ready Me ni mo tomaranu supiido hanta (Before my eyes you still don't stop, speed hunter) We pan over and see Vong approaching, rakamats in the background Daremo ga mina toriko kanban yeah! (Come on!) (Everyone is a victim to that attraction, Yeah! (Come on!)) They break formation, leaping and dashing at the Vong while firing Everybody hands up! Matashita na hero's come back!! (Everybody Hands up! It's the highly anticipated Hero's Come Back!) Fade out and back to Hotaru, Anakin and Jag standing in front of a monument Zujou kazoe yubi oru count down (Hold up your fingers and count down) All three are crying Ikuze 3-2-1 make some noise! (Let's go, 3-2-1 make some noise!) Shift to Hotaru. At the countdown, the screen flashes from her face to Saturn to the skeletal Saturn with glowing eyes Chapter One: Nightmares May 1st, 2007 “No Anakin!” Hotaru screamed, reaching out to him as explosions tossed dust and debris everywhere. She reached out to him as strange insects buzzed about, razor-sharp mandibles extended. “We’ll always be together,” he said, fading away. “I love you…” ***** Coruscant, Column Commons “No!” Hotaru’s body slid out of bed, landing hard on the carpeted floor beneath. She struggled a bit with the blankets entangled around her legs before freeing herself from their embrace. She concentrated, slowing down her breathing and heartbeat. Her heads shot up and to the right as she felt Anakin approaching from down the hall in the family’s apartment building. She quickly pulled on a pair of sweats and a shirt before walking out of her bedroom and meeting him at the doorway. The door slid open, allowing Anakin into the main living area. He squinted and raised his hand, telekinetically turning on several lamps. “What was that?” he asked her, approaching. Hotaru stopped halfway into the room and shrugged, tilting her head. “Just a bad dream,” she offered. She finally walked over to him and took his hands in hers. “Don’t worry yourself, Anakin.” Anakin shook his head, reaching up and placing a hand on her shoulder. “Jedi don’t have dreams,” he stated before leading her over to the couch. “So, what happened?” Hotaru ran through a quick calming exercise as she sat, remembering the horrid images. “We were… in battle,” she began. “Some odd insects were buzzing about and you started… fading away. I reached out for you and…” Her voice trailed off and she rubbed her eyes. Anakin reached up, wrapping his arms around her body and pulling her in for a hug. “I won’t leave you, Firefly,” he said. “I love you too much to.” A chuckle came from Hotaru’s lips as her spirits lifted slightly. “Thanks.” She gently pushed him away and leaned forward, kissing him lightly on the lips. “Sorry about waking you in the middle of the night, too.” Her boyfriend shrugged. “I got to see you, so no problem.” The intercom suddenly sounded. Hotaru groaned as she rose, walking over to a wall-mounted screen. She ran her fingers through her hair as she powered it up, also rubbing her eyes. “This is why I prefer phones,” she mumbled. The screen brightened, showing an image of Luke Skywalker, Grandmaster of the Jedi. “My apologies,” he said. “However, I sensed I wouldn’t be waking you,” he joked, smiling slightly Anakin walked over and stood by Hotaru. “What is it, Uncle Luke?” he asked, voice as serious as his emotions. “A distress call was sent out from the ExGal post on Belkadan,” he explained, reaching out offscreen. “I’d like you two to investigate.” Hotaru’s brow wrinkled slightly. “What’s ExGal?” Anakin snapped his fingers. “I read about them,” he said. “It’s a group dedicated to finding life outside the galaxy.” He rolled his eyes. “Because, you know, we’ve only explored a million star systems out of four hundred billion in our own galaxy!” Hotaru giggled slightly before turning back to Luke, her expression serious again. “We can leave now,” she said. “After all, we’ve got nothing really going on at the moment.” Luke’s eyes shifted from side to side, taking in their appearances and remembering what time it was on Coruscant. Hotaru’s cheeks flushed red and her mouth opened. “No, it’s not like that!” she cried out, throwing her hands up in protest. Luke’s face broke out in a grin as he tossed the pair a salute. “The Force will be with you,” he said. “I also sent the distress call to your freighter’s computer.” His face then took on a look of concern. “Please, be careful,” he half-whispered before signing off. Hotaru sighed before powering down the screen on her end. “I need to shower first,” she said, kissing Anakin again. “meet you at the Firefly?” Anakin returned the kiss before turning and walking off. “Yeah. See you down there.” He paused at the door’s threshold before turning back to her. “I love you,” he said, smiling and letting the emotions pour forth through the Force. 	Yikes. I decide to do a quick stop by to check up on this story, and what do I find? Not only have you gone past the story from where I last remember, but you've done three brand new stories? Wow! 	I'd have been in sooner, but alas, had my nose in a history book... Why is it seeming like the 60's of any century are just plain... odd? Looked up Belkadan... rainforests? Let's see... not certain about the colors (I keep going for yellow... must be the poison frogs... yellow/black/red? Would that look good in a fuku? Feels like it would...), but for powers... rain/water, kinda like Neptune, but different. And something having to do with plants... and the atmosphere has a methane mix? Maybe you could work with that... So Hotaru's having nightmares where Anakin's fading away in battle? Eeep... Well done and good post. -----signature----- "Say it with me now. Postcard. Zoo. Not.
