~*~*~*~*~*~

"The grave of former Queen and Senator of the planet Naboo has been found by archaeologists. The young woman, who died of unknown causes at Polis Massa, was apparently in the after-stages of pregnancy at the time of her death. She was examined carefully and respectfully, and is believed to have been the mother of Jedi Grand Master, Luke Skywalker, and the esteemed Leia Organa Skywalker Solo. The father is believed to have been Anakin Skywalker, who was apparently killed during the Clone Wars.

"The former queen's body was amazingly preserved with a present-day "hi-tech" burial compartment. Her body is believed to not even have withered since her burial. Along with an astonishing and lovely face, the body was clothed in a dark blue exotic garment. Her hair was laid out about her face and decorated with white, mourning flowers. In her hand was placed a japor snippet. Its markings were crude and unevenly cut, as if made by a child. It is possible that one of her neices made the chip and gave it to her before she perished.

The japor snippet was given to the Skywalker/Solo family to treasure, while Padm`e Amidala's body is being laid respectfully back in its rightful place."

I, Anakin Solo, turned off the holocast and fingered my now most treasured possession. I was twelve years old, and my best friend, 10 yr. old, Tahiri Veila, and I were about to go tromping through the woods. I carefully fastened the japor snippet behind my neck and let it dangle underneath my orange jumpsuit. I soon joined my eager friend in climbing trees, wading through rivers, jumping off waterfalls ... and pretty much anything else we could think of. After all, it was our day off.

rose 10 Years Later rose

I was 22 years old. I bit my lip nervously, knowing what I had to do, and yet, I was afraid. And that aggrivated me. Normally, I could be face to face with the source of evil and not be frightened in the least. This time I was face to face with the gentle truth, and I was scared to death. I was afraid of a negative response. I fingered the japor necklace and the object dangling beside it: a picture of Tahiri. My Angel. And as I poured over the thought of our upcoming date that night, and my upcoming question, the thought of my enormous and unconditional love for her wiped my soul of all fear. All that was left was nervousness. Tonight, I resolved. I will try to tell her...

No. There is no try. Only do.

I walked along the beach with Tahiri, my shoes in one hand, her hand in the other. I thought about asking her right then, but decided against it. There was no place to put my shoes, and the sun hadn't set yet. Tahiri loves sunsets, so I'd ask her when the sun went down, which was about in five minutes. Deep breath, Anakin. HeHe, no pressure. Only the most important moment of your life. I gulped.

"Are you alright? You seem a little ... tense," Tahiri asked in concern. I smiled fondly at her and kissed her fingers, savoring their warmth against my cold lips.

"I'm fine," I stated, though my body shivered with the rush of having her near me. "Do you remember, so long ago, when you took my japor snippet, just to look at, and I was so mad at you because it was my most treasured possession?"

Tahiri laughed and my heart fluttered slightly with nervousness and love. "You were so mad; I thought you'd never speak to me again. I'm glad you did, though."

"I am, too. Do you remember when I told you that I'd never give it to anyone?"

She laughed again. "Yes. Then your mother made you give it to her for the rest of the week since you were being so possessive." I willed the sun to set as I turned to her, and took a deep breath.

"Well, um, I want to give you something," I unclasped the japor necklace and placed it in her palm, closing her fingers around it.

She raised an eyebrow. "You're giving this to me? Is this some kind of joke? I thought it was your most treasured possession."

I shook my head, "It's not ... You are. Tahiri, I've known you most of my life, and I can't imagine what it'd be like to have to live without you. You are so beautiful and so kind ... I love you; I realize now that I always have ... even when we were children," The sun finally set behind the mountaintops, casting an orange hue on the entire beach. Spring blossoms detached themselves from their trees and flew gently around us. I knelt. "Will you marry me?"

Tahiri's green eyes filled with joyous tears and her smile broadened. She nodded, then whispered, "Yes."

I broke into a huge grin and swept her up into my arms, swinging her gently around in a cricle. I brought my lips to hers in a passionate kiss and she wrapped her arms about my shoulders while I encircled her petite waist with tender arms. Once we broke the kiss, I fastened the japor snippet behind her slender neck, then kissed the skin next to it. She leaned against me. "I love you," she whispered softly.

"I love you," I responded, smiling broadly.

We married the next month, and Tahiri gave birth to our first son about a year later.
I am an old man now. Tahiri died from cancer about two years ago. I have missed her terribly, but I am about to join her ... finally. Losing her was like losing a right arm, you know it's not there, but sometimes you feel as if it is, and when you look down to check, your heart sinks once more as you realize it will never come back. When she died, I didn't come out of my room for days. I looked down in my hand, and realized that the very moment she died, the japor snippet had split in half. Half of my will to live was gone. We buried her with one half of the broken japor chip, and I will be buried with the other half. Maybe ... many years from now ... our story will be told to our great-grandchildren, or the rest of the galaxy, and they can "respectfully" dig up our graves.

Tahiri's spirit touches my heart, calling from across the dimensions for me to join her. I consent, and smile at my children, who are crowded around my bedside. I close my eyes, then open them. I am in a new location, a much more beautiful and calm one. Everything is green and prosperous, the trees grow tall; the lake shimmers without a single spot of algae; the sun shines down without unbearable heat, and the stars and moon are out at the same time. I turn around, and there she is, standing before me. Tahiri looks the same as she did when we walked along the beach, an immortal beauty. She touches my cheek, and I see my reflection in her sparkling, deep green eyes. I was young once more. "Hello, my love," Tahiri says, holding up her half of the japor chip. I press my half to hers and smile.

"Hello, my Angel," I whisper, and she tucks my dark hair behind my left ear. "I've missed you."

"Here's your japor snippet," she handed it to me. I smiled softly at her and pushed it back into her palm.

"Keep it. I have you, my Treasure, and I'm never letting you go!" I leaned forward and kissed her lingeringly. She grinned into my lips and giggled, and I swung her around like old times.
And there we remained for the rest of eternity, two immortal lovers - never to be parted.

Anakin Solo

~*~*~*~*~

The beautiful girl wandered slowly around the wonderous, green landscape. The shining sun was just beginning to set behind the uneven horizon; the fluffy clouds turned pink and orange. The light reflecting from the setting sun danced across the young woman's astonishing features happily. The sun finally set, and the innumerable, sparkling stars twinkled into view. A soft wind came up and blew her blonde hair into her green eyes, rustling the tall, green grass and blowing cherry blossoms gently around the hidden arbor. She inhaled and exhaled slowly, remembering a moment much like this, enjoying the vast beauty of the night.

Good job, Courntey happy Very sweet, and it was nice getting to see Anakin and Tahiri have that moment they were denied in profic. I'm not sure why the Solos/Skywalkers were stealing things from the dead. I think Padmé was buried with the japor snippet because she was supposed to have it for eternity.

But nicely done grin Great entry for the challenge.
