*Idri’s Really Long Overdue Author Replies*

mara_jade_rox: Awesome update! So Ginny is teaching Anakin how to use Flu Powder. WIth the two of them that could get very interesting.

Yeah, Floo Powder + Anakin + Ginny = Trouble. An equation to watch out for in HP/SW crossovers. tongue

SithGirl132: Floo Powder + Anakin and Ginny... = trouble, I think! Can't wait to see how this goes. And no, Jaina, don't return to the GFFA quite yet...

Oh, look, I typed out the same equation as you! laugh Whoops. And Jaina won’t be returning quite yet. We’ve got a loooooong way to go yet. grin

Darth_Marrs: Lots of trouble, knowing Anakin. wink

SWpants666: that's great. And yes he is. A total whack job.

A loveable whack job, though. I love Dumbledore! love

Awesome! That's cool that Dumbledore has them.

But their contents are secret! shhh

I love it! Of course Crabbe and Goyle would be weak minded. As much as I'd like Malfoy to leave them alone too, I like that he was able to fight the mind trick. Leave it to a Malfoy to be anything but weak minded.

Yeah, Malfoy I can’t see getting mind-tricked, especially by a Jedi apprentice. wink Crabbe and Goyle on the other hand… tongue

Oh, that is too great. Seriously. Leave it to Anakin to Floo there because he's BORED.

That;s the Anakin we know and love. Plus, Ginny seems to have a bad effect on him. tongue

TigerofRobare: I thought you couldn't floo in or out of Hogwarts without permission.

Sirius managed it in OotP with Umbridge watching… even though she almost caught him. And if Dumbledore is watching the fireplaces, well, maybe he let them through for reasons unknown. tongue

I figure 1970 because we landed on the Moon in 1969. And now I can't help but imagine the adults in the 70's: Snape in a disco suit, Arthur and Molly hippies on a commune, Lucius a total square, and Minerva screeming at Woodstock.

laugh

Snape in a disco suit? I’d pay to see that. tongue

Master_M_Sky: Thanks for reading!

Fanficfan: Gotta love Dumbledore’s crazy passwords. tongue

Jaina_Solo_Goddess: I'm wondering how you'll work Jaina into the whole sorceror's stone scene...it seemed to work [conveniently] perfectly when combining the talents of Hermione, Ron, and Harry.

There might be some complications that make getting to the Stone a little more difficult than forseen… tongue

And the mind trick on Crabbe and Goyle was awesome! I'm somewhat surprised Hermione didn't bother her with questions about what Jaina had just done, but I guess she was distracted.

Jus a little bit. tongue

And I can't say that I'm surprised the mind trick didn't really work on Draco - after all, with exams coming up and everything, has she practiced her Jedi skills at all? And she's only what; 11 or 12? Give her some practice and time, and she'll have the whole student body kneeling at her feet. (not that they wouldn't be anyway, goddess that she is...)

laugh laugh

Perhaps.

I like your musings and theories. You never know, you might not be too far off the mark. wink

I promise to (depending on which you want) write the same quality reviews or shorter reviews! Anything! But this is a WONDERFUL story and as long as you don't abandon it I'll be happy!

hugs I love your reviews, so I hope once I get this updated again, you’ll be back to write some more! happy

Diamond_Revelation: I’d watch Ginny and Anakin. What they might think of as fun might become not-so fun in the future. plain

NYCitygurl: If only they could get into contact with their family… sad You’ll see what happens to Anakin and Ginny. They’re in a bit of a tighter spot than they thought they would be upon arriving. Hermione’s not overly impressed herself. tongue

padawanlost: Mind tricking Crabbe and Goyle might be my favorite part of the story so far, though hearing Snape and Dumbledore talking about what else might be in the restricted books sure peaked my interest.

Those books will come up again, I assure you. Just not quite yet. wink

Poor Jaina. She does need a supportive brother, doesn’t she? Hopefully she’ll eventually get two supported brothers! grin

_sticks: Thanks for reading!

Jedi_Kassandra: Glad you liked it!

Tahi: I’ll eventually get around to answering all the questions. grin This fic is quite long, and it’s the first in a series, so we’re not going anywhere’s fast. Glad you liked the Christmas scene – that was a lot of fun to write! Thanks for reading! hugs

Skywalker277: Thanks! Don’t get your hopes up though… that other meteor might not be a good thing!

LilyHobbitJedi: Glad you still enjoying it! Thanks!

Thanks for reading everyone! And I am really, really sorry for the lack of updates. My life has been pretty crazy since the last time I updated, plus DWB and Darth School struck at the same time. But, there’s only a few more chapters left and then this portion of the story is over. Hopefully we’ll get to the end of this section by the end of the summer! grin

peace

Thankyouthankyouthankyou! I got my fix for the week! Great preview! Hmmm, Shadow Academy, eh? Could get interesting, especially with the Philosopher's Stone involved. Is Terran alchemy related to Sith alchemy, perhaps? And some mostly dead Sith Lord with a reason to live in competition with Voldemort? I'll be thinking about this most of the week now.

CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE

Topsy-Turvy

“H-how did you get here?” Ron stammered, staring at his sister.

Ginny shrugged. “Floo powder, how else?”

Hermione was frowning. “But… but you’re not even students! I didn’t think that you could access Hogwarts from the Floo network! This goes against all school rules and regulations!”

“So?” Ginny shrugged. “Who says what we’re allowed and not allowed to do? Where’s your sense of fun?”

Hermione merely gaped in response, seemingly unable to think of an answer.

Harry seemed overcome with laughter. “Only you two,” he said, grinning.

“I guess you could call it an Easter present,” Anakin replied.

Anakin and Ginny sat down next to Jaina on the couch and continued to try to wipe off most of the grey ash.

“Hermione,” Ron said, looking at her, “are you okay? You look like you’re going to be sick? This is my sister, Ginny. And Anakin – Jaina’s brother.”

Hermione smiled faintly, saying, “Hi.” Then she dove for her book bag and fished out Hogwarts: A History. Ron looked revolted.

“What are you doing?” he exclaimed.

Hermione shot him a chilly look and flipped open the book without reply.

Ron shrugged and turned his attention to Ginny and Anakin instead. “I swear some day you two are going to rival Fred and George,” he told them, shaking his head. “Where did you get this crazy idea? Aren’t Mum and Dad going to notice that you’re missing?”

“No,” Ginny answered simply as she combed her fingers through her hair. “We’re not staying at home. Mum and Dad left last week for Romania. They wanted to visit Charlie and they thought that since they couldn’t manage it at Christmas, Easter would be the next best time.”

“Unfortunately, we couldn’t go with them,” Anakin added, making a face.

“So we got dropped off at the Lovegoods,” Ginny continued, her expression scrunching up so she looked almost identical to Anakin.

Jaina stifled a laugh and looked at Ron. “Who’re the Lovegoods?”

“Crazy people,” Ron told her. “Well… not really crazy, but their ideas don’t make any sense whatsoever. Xenophilius Lovegood and his daughter, Luna, live pretty close to us. Makes sense that Mum and Dad would send you two there –”

“I’d rather we’d gone to Romania, though,” Ginny interrupted, wrinkling her nose. “They’re too weird. Luna never shuts up about crumple-horned snorkles or something like that. And you try living in a giant cylinder for a week. It would drive you crazy, too.” She huffed indignantly.

“Cylinder?” Harry asked.

“Never mind,” Ginny replied, rolling her eyes.

“So you decided to come to Hogwarts,” Jaina said.

Anakin grinned. “Yeah. Good idea, don’t you think? Anyways, it seemed like the best thing to do at the time. I mean, the Lovegoods aren’t mean or anything, they’re just… different. After a while, you get really, really frustrated.”

“Well, actually,” Ginny said, “Luna’s nice enough, but Mr. Lovegood is a bit… whacko. Anyways, he left a couple days ago and didn’t say when he would be back. Luna said that he went to talk to a group of heliopaths – was that it?” She glanced at Anakin, who merely shrugged. “Anyways, Anakin and I were getting really tired of this and since we knew that you guys have the Easter holidays right now, we decided that we could come visit you! Luna had this stash of Floo powder…” Ginny rummaged around in her pocket and drew out a small pouch, “…so we thought, why not?”

Both Anakin and Ginny looked a little too pleased with themselves.

“I think the world’s gone crazy,” Ron groaned, sinking down low into his chair and covering his face with his hands.

“Not crazy,” Anakin said. “Topsy-turvy.” He grinned.

Jaina laughed and hugged her brother. “I missed you,” she said.

“Missed you too, Jaya,” Anakin replied. “You never write!”

“I know,” Jaina said, her lips twitching. “It’s so bad of me.”

There was a pause.

“You know this really complicates things,” Hermione said quietly, surfacing from her book. The look on her face told Jaina that she had been unable to find what she was looking for.

Anakin and Ginny exchanged looks. “Why?” they both said simultaneously.

“Because if you’re caught… you’ll be in so much trouble! We’ll be in so much trouble!”

“Stop being so worried, Hermione,” Jaina interrupted before Hermione could launch herself into a speech. “I know exactly the place where they can stay.”

Hermione looked at her, confused. “Where?”

Jaina turned to Harry. “We’ll need the Invisibility Cloak. We’re going out.”

“You know we can only fit four under there, Jaina,” Harry said. “Barely.”

Jaina shrugged. “Yeah, I know. Lucky that Ginny and Anakin are small. Ron, Hermione – you’ll have to stay behind, but luckily we don’t have class tomorrow so you can visit them later.”

Hermione rolled her eyes. “What do you have in mind, Jaina?”

“Harry, please go get your cloak,” Jaina pleaded, not answering Hermione’s question.

“All right, all right, I’m going!” Harry stood and quickly dashed up the stairs to the boys’ dormitory.

As he left, four inquiring faces turned to Jaina.

“Where are you going to hide them, Jaina?” Ron asked.

“The place where I thought I stumbled into the Academy last term,” Jaina said. “It should work, I think. No one’s going to find them there. They can stay as long as they want to.”

Anakin and Ginny’s grins were like Tatooine’s twin suns rising.

“Got the cloak,” Harry said as he came back downstairs. “Where are we going?”

“I’ll lead the way,” Jaina said. “Anakin, Ginny – under the cloak.”

“This is exciting!” Ginny exclaimed.

“You find most things in life exciting,” Ron pointed out. “See you tomorrow.”

Once they made sure they were completely covered by the cloak, Harry and Jaina slowly inched their way along with Anakin and Ginny towards the portrait hole. If Jaina hadn’t still been so completely infused with delight and surprise at that moment, she would have become very irritated with the gasps of wonder as both Anakin and Ginny took in the sights of the school. Somewhere deep within her mind the words “This is a very bad idea” came to her, but she suppressed them.

Jaina was not entirely sure how they made it to the room she had stumbled into by accident last term without passing by Peeves or any ghosts or teachers. When they reached the tapestry of Barnabas the Barmy, Jaina turned and grinned when she saw the door.

“That’s so weird,” Harry murmured. “I’m sure I’ve been along this corridor before but I’ve never seen that door before.”

“Maybe it’s a magical room that only works for Jaina!” Anakin piped up.

Jaina laughed. “Sure.”

She turned the handle and pushed the door open. Anakin, Ginny and Harry all gasped when they saw the room inside, but Jaina could do nothing but stare in astonishment.

The room no longer looked like the Academy on Yavin IV. Gone were the trees and jungle vegetation, replaced by hardwood floor, chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, and an assortment of furniture. After they closed the door, Harry drew off the Invisibility Cloak and all four of them wandered around, examining the room in wonder.

“Wow!” Anakin exclaimed. “It has… everything!”

Indeed, he was quite right. The room seemed properly equipped to care for two people for several days. One side of the room was resembled a bedroom; there were two slender single beds there, along with several bookcases and two trunks in which they could store clothes. Across the room was something that resembled a kitchen; there was a highly polished table in one corner surrounded by luxurious-looking chairs. The rest of the chamber resembled a well-furnished living room.

“Jaina, is this where you came?” Harry asked her incredulously.

“Well, sort of,” she replied. There was a very large lump in her throat that she was having difficulty getting rid of. “It looked really different then. It looked like home whenever I came here.”

“Maybe the room disguises itself to make sure you have what you need,” Ginny suggested. “So if Anakin and I are staying here, it’ll look like this. If you… needed to look something up and couldn’t get to the library, maybe it would turn itself into a library.” She shrugged her shoulders and threw herself down on one of the luxurious chairs.

Jaina thought about it. “I guess that makes sense…”

“Anyways, Jaya, can you find Jasa tomorrow?” Anakin asked.

“Sure, why?”

“I have something I need to tell both of you,” Anakin replied. “And there’s something we need to do here.”

Ginny rolled her eyes. “Ani, not this again.”

Anakin made a face. “Don’t call me Ani!”

Jaina laughed and sat down on one of the chairs. “Why don’t you tell me now? I’m really not all that sleepy and it’s been a while since I last talked to you.”

Anakin looked at Ginny, who merely sighed and rolled her eyes, and turned back to Jaina. “Well… you know how you told me last Christmas that you had a vision?”

Jaina frowned. “Yes.” She thought she knew where this was going – and she didn’t like it.

“Well, I’ve had one, too. It’s a little hard to tell what it’s about, but something really wrong is going on here at Hogwarts. And by really wrong I mean… really, really wrong.”

Jaina sucked in her breath. How could Anakin know? Did this have anything to do with the Philosopher’s Stone? She looked at Harry, who seemed both worried and baffled by what Anakin was saying.

“Anakin,” she said slowly, “you didn’t see a stone of any kind, by any chance? In your vision, I mean?”

Anakin frowned. “Stone? Like a rock?”

“Yes, like a rock.”

“Oh… I think I might have. A red rock, about the size of my fist.”

Jaina’s eyes widened and she stared at Harry.

“The Philosopher’s Stone,” they both murmured.

“The what?” Ginny interrupted. “What are you two talking about?”

Jaina bit her lower lip. If Anakin was having dreams – bad dreams – that featured the Philosopher’s Stone, it meant that something was very wrong. What was going on at Hogwarts went far past Snape just wanting the Stone for himself.

“And I think I saw Tamith Kai,” Anakin added quietly.

“You WHAT?!” Jaina cried. Tamith Kai… in her little brother’s dreams… and the Philosopher’s Stone? What was this leading to?

“What is it?” Ginny demanded. “What’s wrong?!”

Jaina shook her head, motioning her friend to be silent. “Anakin,” she said after a moment, “please, you and Ginny have to stay here. Harry and I will come back tomorrow morning; we don’t have class. Ron and Hermione will come too and I’ll try to find Jacen. We really need to talk about this. I have a bad feeling, like things are going to get really bad really soon.”

“That’s a lot of ‘reallys,’” Anakin said. “That can’t be good.”

“Look, we have to get back to Gryffindor tower now,” Jaina said, “but we’ll come straight back tomorrow morning. Promise that you won’t go wandering anywhere?”

Anakin nodded. “Promise. But make sure you bring Jasa with you!”

Jaina nodded. “I will. C’mon, Harry, let’s go.”

They were back under the cloak and hurrying along the seventh floor corridors in no time. As they walked quickly, Jaina’s mind was whirling. Anakin had to tell her the rest of his dream… it was the only way they could find out what was really going on here and –

“Jaina?” Harry asked.

“Yeah?”

“Who’s Tamith Kai?”

Jaina froze and Harry walked past her, almost pulling the cloak right off of her. Jaina quickly stepped forwards so she was under the protecting of the cloak again.

“She’s not very nice,” Jaina said slowly. “She’s… well, to make things simple, there’re good Jedi and there’re bad Jedi. My uncle is one of the ‘good’ Jedi, but there are people out there who want to convert his students to be ‘bad’ Jedi. Tamith Kai works with Brakiss, who runs the Shadow Academy.”

“Shadow Academy?” Harry asked. “That doesn’t sound nice…”

A flash of vivid images crossed Jaina’s mind and she pushed them out of the way. “No, it’s not,” she replied through gritted teeth. “Anyways, if Tamith Kai’s on Earth… and if she’s near Hogwarts, that means things are going to get pretty bad.”

“Why would she come here in the first place?” Harry asked.

“I don’t know,” Jaina said. “Unless she was sent by Brakiss to specifically look for me, Jacen and Anakin… we were captured by the Shadow Academy once. I don’t think they give up very well.”

“What happens if she’s the one trying to steal the Philosopher’s Stone?”

Jaina shuddered. “Let’s try not to think about it.” She paused as they came to a stop in front of the Fat Lady. Jaina slipped out from under the cloak and waved her hands in front of the portrait’s face. The Fat Lady cracked an eye open.

“You know, dear, some people like to get some sleep around here,” she said crossly.

“Doesn’t matter,” Jaina said. “Quidditch.”

Sighing and grumbling about students out of bed, the Fat Lady’s portrait swung forwards to admit Jaina and the invisible Harry. As soon as they crept back into the common room, Harry pulled off the cloak and they went to rejoin Ron and Hermione, who were waiting anxiously.

“Where did you take them?” Ron asked.

“Somewhere where they won’t be found,” Jaina replied. “We’re going to go see them tomorrow.”

“Your brother and your sister are completely crazy, Jaina and Ron,” Hermione said, shaking her head.

“I would blame Anakin completely for the idea,” Jaina said. “Both of them might put on a big show, but Anakin had something important to tell me about a vision he’s had… or what he thinks is a vision. Either way, the message isn’t good.”

Hermione’s expression became worried. “What is it?”

“Snape might not be the only person who’s looking for the Stone,” Harry said. “There’s this… Tameth – Tamith…? – person out there, too.”

“Someone else from the Galaxy,” Jaina explained. “A very, very bad Jedi who’s probably looking for Jacen, Anakin and me.”

Ron gulped. “What happens now?”

Jaina frowned. “I don’t know. I need to talk to Anakin more about it.” She sighed. “Why is it that half the time I have a feeling the Earth is going to fall on its head or something?”

“I have absolutely no idea,” Ron said.

---

Jaina, Ron, Harry and Hermione were all up early the next morning, despite the lack of sleep. All four of them were eager to visit Ginny and Anakin, whom – Jaina hoped – had stayed in the room and had not gone wandering around the school. Jaina ate her breakfast the quickest – while her friends finished, she left the Gryffindor table and ran across the hall to the Ravenclaw table, where Jacen was seated with a couple of his friends.

“Jacen!”

“Oh, ‘ey, Ja’a,” Jacen greeted her through a mouthful of toast.

“I have something really important I need to tell you!”

“Does she always start her conversations like this?” Michael Corner grumbled.

Jaina shot him a penetrating glare and he looked away, concentrating on his breakfast.

“Sometimes,” Jacen said, standing up. “See you guys later.”

He followed Jaina out of the Great Hall. In the Entrance Hall, they met Ron, Hermione and Harry.

“What’s up?” Jacen asked.

“Anakin,” Jaina said. “And Ginny. They decided to take a little tourist trip and came flying into Gryffindor Tower last night by way of Floo powder.”

Jacen stared at her, his eyes wide and incredulous, and then he burst into laughter.

“That’s exactly what I thought,” Jaina said. “Until he told me about his dreams.”

Jacen immediately stopped laughing. “What dreams?”

“That’s what Jaina wants to go ask him about,” Harry said.

“All right,” Jacen said. “Where are they?”

“They’re hiding in a room on the seventh floor,” Jaina replied as they began to climb the marble staircase to the first floor.

“Aren’t you afraid they’ll get caught?” Jacen asked.

“As long as they don’t go wandering around, they should be fine where they are. I really doubt that anyone’s going to find them.”

Jacen rolled his eyes. “I think you should have put them in a safer spot. Knowing Anakin, he’s going to go wandering around.”

When they finally reached the seventh floor corridor where the room was located, the door appeared out of nowhere, as usual. Jacen jumped in surprise and turned, his eyebrows raised, to look at Jaina. Jaina shrugged and knocked once on the door before opening it. Inside, they found Anakin lying sprawled on a chair, apparently in deep sleep. Ginny was across the room, her head resting on the kitchen table.

“Did you not get any sleep at all, Anakin?” Jaina asked, abruptly shaking her brother awake.

Anakin yawned and opened one eye, peering curiously at Jaina. “Go away,” he mumbled. “I’m sleepy.”

Jaina folded her arms. “So you did go wandering around last night.”

Jacen, Harry, Ron and Hermione looked as though they were having great difficultly concealing smiles.

“I met a walking suit of armour,” Anakin said sleepily. “It was wizard!”

“Wizard?” Ron inquired, confused.

“Slang term,” Jaina explained quickly. “It basically means, ‘great.’” Sighing, she sat down next to her sleepy brother. “Anakin, what am I going to do with you?”

“Let me sleep?” Anakin replied hopefully.

“Your dreams, Anakin,” Jaina said pointedly. “You wanted to tell me and Jacen about your dreams.”

Both of Anakin’s eyes finally snapped open and he sat up straight in his chair. “Oh fine,” he said. “I guess since you’re here… is Ginny awake? I fell asleep when we came back from exploring… she said that she wanted something to eat…”

Jaina glanced over at Ginny. The small girl was still fast asleep. She pursed her lips and thought that what she and her brothers were going to discuss, Ginny didn’t really need to know much about.

“No,” Jaina said finally, “let her sleep.”

Jaina sat down in a chair, followed quickly by her friends and Jacen. They sat in a circle, all eyes focused on Anakin. Hermione looked both anxious and curious; Ron merely looked eager while Harry seemed nervous. Jacen looked as though he couldn’t still quite believe that his brother was here at Hogwarts.

“Anakin,” Jaina said seriously, “did you have another dream last night?”

Anakin bit his lower lip and nodded.

“And?”

Anakin frowned. “Tamith Kai left. She was walking away, through a forest… to a ship. I know she left. But… I can still feel somebody bad here. Real bad. All over the school, when I was wandering around the corridors last night, all I could feel was bad.” He shuddered.

Jaina glanced at Jacen. “Brakiss, maybe?” she suggested.

Jacen shook his head. “I don’t think so… I don’t think it could be another one of Brakiss’ cronies either. It’s someone else. I can feel them, too. All over the school… it’s been building up ever since we came back from Christmas.”

“What are we going to do about it?” Hermione asked. “This really can’t be good, can it?”

Anakin looked at her curiously. “Who are you, again?”

Jaina felt like smacking her forehead. “Sorry… this is Hermione, Anakin.”

Hermione smiled briefly.

“Well…” Ron looked thoughtful. “How bad can things get? I mean, Hogwarts is pretty safe, especially with Dumbledore around. Why don’t we look for this bad person? I mean, how bad can things get?”

Jaina, Jacen and Anakin exchanged looks.

“Um…” Jaina suddenly realized that she had been subconsciously biting her nails. Quickly removing her finger from her mouth, she answered Ron’s question. “If someone from the Shadow Academy really is here, then things could be really bad. I’m not sure if even Dumbledore could handle dealing with them.”

“Ron has a point, though, Jaya,” Jacen interrupted. “We can’t really just sit around doing nothing, waiting for something bad to creep up on us.”

“How about you tell us the rest of your dreams, Anakin,” Jaina said, ignoring Jacen’s last comment. “The ones with the Stone in them.”

“Oh, right.”

“Wait.” Hermione held up a hand. “By ‘stone’ do you mean, Philosopher’s Stone?”

“I think so,” Jaina said. “What else could a red stone be?”

“Do you want me to tell you my dream or not?” Anakin asked.

“Sorry, Anakin.”

“Well,” Anakin began, “it’s really more like a whole bunch of dreams mashed together. First I saw a forest – a really big, dark forest, it was kind of spooky – and then I saw who I think was Tamith Kai running through it. Then I saw her in Hogwarts – at least, what I think was Hogwarts. She was sneaking around a corridor or something, I’m not entirely sure, it was a little too dark. And then I saw this red stone and a man wearing really long robes and then Tamith Kai was there and…” he paused for a breath, “…and then I saw Tamith Kai leaving and then a flash of green light. I really didn’t like that flash of green light. It was spooky.” He shuddered.

There was a long moment of silence.

“It could have just been a dream,” Hermione said.

“Or a very big coincidence,” Harry murmured.

Five faces turned inquiringly to him.

Harry shrugged. “There’s been more than one night when I’ve dreamed my parents vanishing in a flash of green light.” He shuddered.

Jaina’s eyes narrowed. “Wait… I’ve seen it, too. In my dreams.”

All six of them exchanged worried looks.

“What are we going to do?” Hermione asked.

Jaina glanced at Jacen.

“First,” she said, “we aren’t going to do anything. I think this has something to do with the people from off this tiny planet, so it’s something Jacen, Anakin and I have to deal with. Anyways, we can sense something going on here. You can’t. We’ll find out what’s going on.”

“But Jaina that could be really dangerous!” Hermione exclaimed.

Jaina shrugged. “So?”

“I don’t think you should poke your nose in things that you don’t really understand, Hermione,” Jacen said.

Hermione sighed, looking disgruntled. “Fine, have it your way.”

“Anakin, you should really get some sleep,” Jaina said. “We’ll have to do our exploring by night since if we do it by day, people are going to notice that you’ve never been here before – especially the teachers.”

“Do you want the Invisibility Cloak, then?” Harry asked. “You can borrow it, if you want… And you could still explore by day.”

“And have more of a chance of bumping into people,” Jaina said. “Thanks for the offer, Harry, but it’ll probably be best if we explore by night.”

“Tonight?” Anakin asked.

“Yeah,” Jaina replied, her eyes hardening. “Whatever’s going on is not good. And if it has something to do with the Shadow Academy, then I think you and Ginny should leave Hogwarts as soon as possible.”

Anakin nodded. “All right, Jaya.”

There was another long pause.

“We should probably let you sleep, Anakin,” Hermione said. “Come on, we can fit in some more studying.”

Ron groaned and rolled his eyes. “You know, exams are ages away, Hermione.”

“Ten weeks,” she snapped back. “And that’s not ages, Ron. That’s like a second to Nicolas Flamel.”

“Yeah, but we’re not six hundred and years old,” Ron retorted.

“Who’s Nicolas Flamel?” Anakin asked sleepily, already drifting off.

“He made the Philosopher’s Stone,” Jaina told him. “Now go to sleep.”

As soon as Anakin drifted off to sleep, Jaina, Jacen and their friends left the room. Jacen went back to Ravenclaw Tower to regroup with his friends while Jaina, Harry, Ron and Hermione trooped off to Gryffindor Tower to collect their books before going down to the library for a study session. Jaina contemplated falling asleep while studying – only the Force knew how long she would be awake tonight.

---

At eleven o’clock, Jaina took Harry’s Invisibility Cloak and slipped out of the Gryffindor common room. She walked hurriedly towards Ravenclaw Tower. Jacen had told her that he would meet her there at fifteen minutes past eleven and she did not want to be late and risk having him caught outside his dormitories when he was supposed to be sleeping. Her anxiety, however, caused her to be several minutes early and she found herself waiting outside for the appearance of her brother. As soon as he stepped out into the hall, she whispered his name and quickly threw the cloak over him so that it concealed them both.

“Force, Jaina, don’t do that!” Jacen whispered. “That scared me!”

“Sorry,” Jaina whispered back. “Let’s go pick up Anakin.”

As they made their way towards the hidden room across from the tapestry of Barnabas the Barmy, both Jaina and Jacen were unusually silent. They were approaching the room when Jacen finally broke the silence with a question.

“Jaina, what’s the Philosopher’s Stone?”

Jaina swallowed hard. She really needed to keep her twin better informed than she did… “It’s a Stone with magical properties,” she explained, “made by a guy called Nicolas Flamel. He’s a friend of Dumbledore’s and they think someone is after the Stone, so it’s hidden here at Hogwarts. We – meaning Harry, Ron, Hermione and me – think someone’s trying to steal it, and now it might be that ‘bad person’ Anakin’s sensing, or Tamith Kai or Snape.”

“Snape?!” Jacen sounded incredulous. “Why Snape?”

“Just from the way he’s been acting and from some things Ron, Hermione and Harry put together,” Jaina replied. “He’s actually very suspicious.”

“Okaaay…” Jacen didn’t sound convinced. “What does the Stone do, exactly?”

“It turns any metal into pure gold and stops you from ever dying.”

Jacen’s eyes went wide. “Whoa! Cool!”

“So either Snape wants it because he’s greedy or… something else is going on.”

“You’ve said that before,” Jacen pointed out.

“I know,” Jaina replied with a slight smile. “That’s probably because I think something else is going on. Here we are.” They had reached the corridor and the door to Anakin and Ginny’s hiding place appeared.

Jacen shivered. “I’m not going to get used to that.”

Jaina grinned and opened the door.

“Jaya! Jasa!”

Anakin, Jaina decided, was a little overly enthusiastic. Both he and Ginny were wide awake and looked as though they were about to start bouncing off the walls due to their excitement. Jaina made a mental note to make sure that Anakin and Ginny never got hold of Floo powder ever again.

“Are we leaving now?” Ginny asked with a grin. “Anakin’s told me all about it – are we really going to search the castle?”

“Yes,” Jaina said. “But you aren’t.”

Ginny’s expression was downfallen.

“I’m sorry, Ginny, but really – you and Anakin aren’t supposed to be here and if we find what we’re looking for… well, it’s dangerous enough without you tagging along after us.”

Ginny frowned and crossed her arms. “That’s not fair,” she said stubbornly.

“If Ginny can’t go, then I won’t,” Anakin said.

Jaina threw up her hands. Trust her brother to become very stubborn – no doubt the Weasleys were having a very bad effect on him.

“Fine,” she said, having no desire to spend the entire night arguing. “Fine, you can come.”

Ginny grinned and clapped her hands delightedly.

“Let’s get going,” Jaina said. “Come on, under the cloak.”

After a few minutes, Jaina wished that she had spent the entire night arguing with Anakin and Ginny. The two ten-year-olds were overly excited by the most common-place things – well, items that Jaina had grown familiar with over her months at the school. The moving paintings (all of whom were asleep), the golden suits of armour, the large, beautiful windows that looked out over the grounds. Ginny and Anakin never did stop whispering excitedly to each other, and every time they spoke, Jaina thought that someone would hear them and they would get caught.

It was an extremely tight fit under the Invisibility Cloak with all four of them. Ginny had a habit of pointing at certain things, and every time she did so, nine times out of ten she smacked Jaina with her hand by accident. Finally, irritated with the fuss Ginny and Anakin were making, Jaina decided they could risk going visible. If they got caught, they could always run and put the cloak back on. At least this way she would get some space to herself.

The flicker in the Force was leading them down through the castle. They crept along at a slow pace; every so often, Jaina would have to backtrack and tug Ginny away from something that had captivated her attention, be it a suit of armour or a painting. They were passing the forbidden corridor on the third floor when suddenly Anakin ran on ahead of them, sprinting towards the door that led to the prohibited area.

“Anakin!” Jaina hissed, but he didn’t hear her. She exchanged looks with Jacen and they sprinted after him, Ginny following.

“Anakin, come back!” Jacen called under his breath.

Anakin turned around and folded his arms. “Why?”

“You can’t go in there, it’s –”

“E-excuse me!”

Jaina, Jacen, Anakin and Ginny gasped and spun around, coming face-to-face with Professor Quirrel. He was holding his wand, its tip brightly lit and casting a glow across their faces in the dark. His face was pale and tired looking; he seemed almost surprised to see them there. Judging from his expression, it was almost as if he was not sure what to do with them.

Jaina bit her lip. There was nowhere for them to run and hide now, they were caught red-handed. Hopefully Quirrel wouldn’t notice that Anakin and Ginny weren’t students… surely, in a castle as large as this and with so many students, there must be some kids the teachers didn’t know. She cleared her throat and stepped forwards to speak.

“Um… Professor Quirrel?” she said meekly. “We’re really sorry about being out of bounds tonight – it was an accident. We’ll get back to our dorms as soon as we can—”

Quirrel didn’t even seem to be listening. “A-accident?” he murmured, gazing off at the door to the forbidden third corridor. There was an empty look in his eyes. “Yes… a-accid-dent. I-t was an a-accident.” He shuddered and began to move off down the corridor, muttering to himself. “S-she… s-she didn’t m-mean it. I-it w-was an a-accident…”

Jaina stared in shock as her Defense Against the Dark Arts professor stumbled away as if he were sleep walking.

“What was that about?” Ginny asked.

“I can’t say for sure,” Jacen replied softly. “That was really—”

“Odd,” Jaina said.

Clang!

All four of them jumped.

“I don’t think that was good,” Anakin said slowly. “Actually, I think that was really, really bad.”

“Yeah,” Jaina breathed. “Let’s go back!”

Clang!

They didn’t discuss it further – they ran. Charging back up flights of stairs and running as fast as their feet could carry them down the corridors, Jaina was surprised that they didn’t run into any teachers or ghosts. They arrived back at the special room on the seventh floor panting. As soon as the door appeared, they rushed inside and collapsed on to the chairs.

“Okay,” Jaina said, trying to catch her breath. “Okay… what was that?”

“Something that goes clang,” Ginny supplied.

“Yeah, I realized that, thanks.”

“Anakin?” Jacen asked, turning to their brother.

Anakin shrugged. “I don’t know. But you can still feel it, can’t you?” He turned to Jaina. “The presence… the thing. That thing moving in the Force. It’s creepy.”

“And what’s creepier is that we don’t even know what it is,” Jacen said. He rubbed his forehead. “Maybe you two should go now,” he said.

“What?” Ginny exclaimed. “But we only just got here!”

“No, seriously,” Jacen said, “go back to the… oh, what’s-their-names, whoever it is you’re staying with! Look, something really odd was up with Quirrel tonight, but despite that, he saw you two. And he doesn’t know you. You should go before you get into serious trouble.”

Anakin exchanged disheartened looks with Ginny.

“I don’t like that Quirrel guy,” she said. “He’s really creepy.” She frowned. “I don’t think I really like it here. At least, not at night.”

“I don’t want to go, though,” Anakin said. “But maybe we should…” He shot a glance at Jaina. “Jaya?”

Jaina brushed her hair out of her eyes. “If you want to go, go,” she said. “You probably should, anyways. Something really odd is going on here. Do you still have Floo powder to get back?”

Ginny grinned as she withdrew a pouch from her pocket. “I always plan ahead,” she said.

“Good,” Jacen said. “Then you should probably leave.”

“What about Ron and Harry?” Ginny asked. “And Hermione? Shouldn’t we say goodbye?”

“We’ll pass along the message,” Jaina said.

Ginny nodded and smiled tightly as she bounced the pouch of Floo powder up and down on her hand.

Despite their adventurous nature, their brush with Professor Quirrel and his strange actions had shaken some of the gleeful taste for excitement out of Ginny and Anakin. No longer did they seem quite happy to delve into the mysteries of Hogwarts – especially at night. Jaina had to admit that she agreed with them – Quirrel had been acting strangely, and she could not even begin to imagine what had made that clanging noise. There was something eerie going on; she could feel it in the Force and it made her feel very uncomfortable.

There was a lit fireplace in their room. Ginny handed Anakin her pouch and took of pinch of Floo powder. She smiled and waved at Jaina and Jacen before throwing the powder on to the flames. They immediately turned bright green. Ginny stepped forwards and shouted, “Quibbler Headquarters!” and disappeared in a flash of light.

“‘Quibbler Headquarters?’” Jaina asked, perplexed.

Anakin shrugged. “Luna’s dad runs this what-do-you-call it… oh! I know! Magazine!” He looked quite proud of himself. “Anyways, it’s called The Quibbler. When Ginny asked him what to call his home, he told us Quibbler Headquarters. Still, it’s better than ‘Pick Your Own Mistletoe’ or ‘Keep Off the Dirigible Plums’ or whatever other crazy signs they have posted around there. Nothing like the Burrow at all.” He rolled his eyes and gave Jaina a hug. “Miss you,” he said before hugging Jacen as well. “Write, for once!” he added hotly.

Jaina made a face. “We’ll try.”

“You better,” Anakin replied. “See you.”

“Bye,” Jacen said.

Anakin took a pinch of Floo powder, waved and threw the powder on the flames. He called out “Quibbler Headquarters!” and vanished into the green flames.

Jaina sighed. She wasn’t entirely happy that Anakin had to leave. Still, it was probably the best in the long run. Yawning, Jaina turned to Jacen and they threw the Invisibility Cloak over themselves and walked out into the hallway. Jaina longed to get back to Gryffindor Tower so she could get some sleep.

It had been a long night.

Wow that was an awesome post! I'll have more later (uses this as a placeholder)

Thoughts:

I like that you're showing Jacen a bit more. He's still a little bit of an idiot of course wink but hopefully he'll come around to his sister's way of thinking.

I like the relationship between Anakin and Ginny. They're getting along really well. Also love how you introduced the Lovegoods!

And Kamith Tai with the Philosophers Stone... shock Hopefully it doesn't come to that.

Great to see this up and running again.

Jaina laughed and hugged her brother. “I missed you,” she said.
I miss Anakin, too. sad

Anakin and Ginny’s grins were like Tatooine’s twin suns rising.
I loved that line.

Oh boy - I'd love to have a room like that.

aina frowned. “I don’t know. I need to talk to Anakin more about it.” She sighed. “Why is it that half the time I have a feeling the Earth is going to fall on its head or something?”

“I have absolutely no idea,” Ron said.

I love your Jaina and Ron - and your Anakin, too. love

“Let me sleep?” Anakin replied hopefully.

grin Great stuff.

Oooh - a common theme. I wonder what that means.

“If Ginny can’t go, then I won’t,” Anakin said.

Jaina threw up her hands. Trust her brother to become very stubborn – no doubt the Weasleys were having a very bad effect on him.

LOL No, I think that's just Anakin being Anakin.

Quirrell is acting very odd. Hmmmmm. And the clanging sound is very mysterious.

I laughed at the signs that Anakin mentioned. grin

This is very intriguing. Awesome post and I loved all the interactions between the kids. applause

grin I've been really looking forward to the update on this one, I'm so glad it's finally here! grin

I absolutely loved Hermione's reaction to Anakin and Ginny just showing up at Hogwarts, and it's only natural that she would immediately turn to Hogwarts, A History in order to prove herself right.

Somewhere deep within her mind the words “This is a very bad idea” came to her, but she suppressed them. Jaina, Jaina, Jaina, shame_on_you don't you know by now, that whenever those bad feelings hit, bad stuff inevitably follows? (I think it must have something to do with those Skywalker/Solo genes-- trouble just follows wherever they go)

When they reached the tapestry of Barnabas the Barmy, Jaina turned and grinned when she saw the door.

“That’s so weird,” Harry murmured. “I’m sure I’ve been along this corridor before but I’ve never seen that door before.”

“Maybe it’s a magical room that only works for Jaina!” Anakin piped up.

...

“It has… everything!”

...

I think that finding the room of requirement when the D.A. needs it just got a whole lot easier

Tamith Kai… in her little brother’s dreams… and the Philosopher’s Stone? What was this leading to? worried ... and here is where things start to go bad. Anakin's now having similar (or maybe even more detailed) dreams to the ones that Jaina has been having.

I wonder what Ron, Harry and Hermione are going to think when (or if) they find out just how many times Jaina, Jacen, and Anakin have been capture by dark lords... it's going to be an interesting conversation I bet.

“I would blame Anakin completely for the idea,” that sounds about right laugh

And trust Anakin and Ginny to not do what they're told, and decide to go wandering around Hogwarts alone at night-- the two of them are hilarious together.

Jacen shook his head. “I don’t think so… I don’t think it could be another one of Brakiss’ cronies either. It’s someone else. I can feel them, too. All over the school… it’s been building up ever since we came back from Christmas.” This seems to be promising, in terms of Jaina and Jacen learning to use both magic and the Force. If Jacen is sensing the darkness in spite of having chosen magic, Jaina may soon be able to learn how to incorporate at least some magic.

I-it w-was an a-accident…”
... because that's not suspicious or anything. I think they just found who's after the Stone whistling I like the fact that all of them found something rather disturbing about that (though honestly who wouldn't?) Combined with Jacen's complete surprise about Snape being the one potentially after the Philosopher's Stone, perhaps someone will start looking in the right direction? (probably not, but I can hope can't I?)

Whew-- that was longer than I intended, but I enjoyed the chapter a lot and I'm looking forward to the next one!

Love Hermione's immediate worry and referencing to Hogwarts, a History.

“This is exciting!” Ginny exclaimed.

“You find most things in life exciting,” Ron pointed out. “See you tomorrow.”

Nice. And then she does, silly girl, rushing to and fro and all around gaping in awe at sleeping pictures and suits of armor. And everyone's having dream-visions; that's never a good sign.

Maybe they'll be slightly more suspicious of Quirrel now that he's been acting so weirdly, but I'm not betting on it. And silly Hermione, telling Jaina that something was too dangerous. That means, naturally, that Jaina (or anyone with Sky/Solo blood, for that matter) will immediately investigate.

I, too, wonder if The Solo's will ever tell their friends about the multiple times they've been kidnapped. How many is it? Like 5x or so? And that's not including attempts that failed.

Jaina folded her arms. “So you did go wandering around last night.”

Jacen, Harry, Ron and Hermione looked as though they were having great difficultly concealing smiles.

Ah, yes. Jaina, the ultimate in responsibility and obedience in the face of curiousity, lectures her erring brother. Although I suppose she does have big sister rights. tongue

Anyway, I really enjoyed that post and am glad this story is back up!
