Theme for Drabbles 1-5: Relationships
Beginnings
It had to have been the red hair. Only strands of fire would be able to pull his attention from the overwhelming feeling of life on Yavin that demanded most of his time.
The new girl immediately entranced him: the blazing hair with small and delicate braids, the garment made of green animal scales, eyes the color of Coruscanti clouds warning of an impending storm.
His father warned him, especially for being the age he was, to be sure to know the difference between lust and love. He was not sure which this was, but he intended to find out.
Middles
She hates the time in between.
During the beginning of fights, she can calculate her arguments; at the end, they make up. It’s the in between where she has to sit and wait for them to come to peace with each other that she hates. Now she has nothing to do but think about why they are fighting. This time is especially painful.
He was her friend, too; she wonders if her husband remembers that fact while downing another drink at some cantina. She may have referred to their lost friend as a walking carpet, but she loved him too.
Ends
He
was there.
This day had taken a toll on his weary body. He had fought to have her friend released, argued she and her compatriots meant no harm, and this was how she thanked him? He tried to take bitter comfort in the fact that her brandy eyes had dulled since he last saw her. Tried to reason
he
could not bring the fire into her, as he had done during their too short time together.
He tried to comfort himself with that fact, but he only felt the gnawing hole in his heart grow in size once more.
First
She should be miserable. She is standing in frigid, chest-deep water. Her sight limited due to her current location of being in a cavern. Her body exhausted from spending hours healing the wounds that had been inflicted upon it. She is hungry, thirsty, fatigued, cold, and currently unable to fight those who put her into this position.
She should be miserable.
But she is in his arms, the man who loves her and kissing her like no other man before. She never thought to put the words “lust” and “Farmboy” in the same sentence.
Now all she feels is bliss.
Last
He knows what he wants to do, and he knows what he has to do—and they are two very different things.
He wants to be anywhere but here. He wants to have their first kiss be anywhere other than inside a locker. He wants to be fighting with his brother over some mundane part of calling yourself a Jedi. He wants his father to be able to look him in the eye again without the slightest tinge of malice or grief.
He needs to save his friends. He needs to leave his family. He needs to redeem his name.

How fun!
I think I got them all but I don't want to spoil it for the rest.
Last

My favorite is "Ends." Why? Because that one took me the longest to figure out. Excellent job!

I am thrilled that you started a thread,
Fatty
!
I think my favorite was the last one (love the shrouded in mystery thing -I'm a sucker for it every time
), though BEGINNINGS was wonderful, too. It is amazing at the story you told with no more than a few 100 word scenes.
Well done!

TKL
: Why am I not surprised about the Ends comment?
Thank you for replying within four minutes of me posting.
Earthknight
: Thank you
KT
: I didn't mean for it to take multiple reads to reveal the identity, but I'm gla dpeople are really liking that one.
SilSolo
: In order, they were J/TK, L/H about Chewie, J/J, L/M, and A/T. Glad you liked the J/TK stuff; writing them usually scares me.
Wildcat
: Thanks, and I'm looking forward to expanding this as well.
Z
: This is all your fault! Umm... I mean thanks for starting this craziness. It's quite a feat to motivate me to do something I'm scared of, and you accomplished that. Pat yourself on the back.

I really like the sense of mystery about these drabbles, the way you didn't reveal the characters by name, just by situations and feelings. I think "Beginnings" and "Last" are my favorites of the five.

Especially loved that last line, on the last drabble...
Dramatic, but not overplayed.
Bravo.

: Thank you very much. I'm a fan of reading things that involve intrigue. I'm not always great about writing them myself, but I'm glad you enjoyed this round of drabbles.
Telanna
: THANK YOU!
Fluff-Slayer

I loved these! My favorite was of course
Beginnings
.
Love Jacen. I also found
Last
brought a lump to my throat. Such a brilliant life cut short far too soon.
Very impressed with how much emotion you managed to work into so few words.

Authors Note:
For this week (maybe a few more times in the future), these words were written without in specific characters in mind. You can make these drabbles about any character you want, I'm just telling you what they are doing. I hope you enjoy yourself.
Theme for drabbles 6-10
: Family
Hours
Neither of them could repeat what was said that afternoon; they were too mesmerized by each other.
After all they had gone through—fighting battles against others and themselves, the broken relationships, the broken hearts—they were here.
Encompassed by friends and family, they could only stand smiling at each other. They knew they should pay attention to the words spoken, but who could when she was so breathtaking in her gown and he so handsome in his suit?
She fumbled with his ring, causing him to laugh. His voice broke when he said, “I do”, causing her to cry.
Days
She awoke famished, but once she reached the kitchen none of its contents piqued her appetite. An hour later, when she was consuming a combination of food and spices so strange it would have scared her if she had not been so overcome with the need to devour it. An hour after that she was in the’ fresher; it was now, as her breakfast fled her stomach, she questioned her sanity for eating the mess in the first place.
It was on the fifth day that she reluctantly admitted to herself that this might not be the flu after all.
Weeks
The first few weeks were spent in ignorance; the next in denial, the following twelve in secret joy, followed by time spent informing others.
The remainder of the forty weeks was spent in a battle of wills. There were the fights over names and the nursery. Nights with her tears over her expanding stomach followed by his reassurances that she had never looked more beautiful. There were the warm glow and absentminded touch to her stomach whenever she felt movement, and the pang of jealous from him at the quick realization that she would always be closer to their child.
Months
It was time for the culmination of nine months to make its appearance. Every thirty days, the medical droid informed the impending parents how many cells and millimeters the fetus had grown in the past month. But the blunt doctor’s reports, cold medical texts, and obligatory family stories did not prepare them for this day.
They did not prepare the couple for the pain she would feel, not for the pain he would feel watching her suffer. But they also did not prepare them for the indescribable love and joy the felt as their child let loose the first cry.
Years
They shared a smile over the snoring child asleep between them. It had been a trying time: screaming fits caused by the discomfort of the Corellian cold virus, little sleep, and a number of failed attempts to keep their little one quiet and content.
But they had to smile. Of course, this was not how they imagined celebrating the fourth year of marriage. Both had hoped and dreamed of having a family someday, but with the galaxy constantly warring there were nights where hopes of a spouse and children were almost out of reach.
Of course they had to smile.
