	title: Goodbyes are the Hardest Part Author: frankieskywalker Time-frame:post ROTJ au notes:this is a little viggie dedicated to those who aren't here anymore my grandpa died last july my dad died in feb and then my boss died in april so here's the tissue warning it's really sad Jaina felt like it was a dream well more a nightmare really. she remembered back to the day her childhood ended. she had been awaken by her buzzing com. it had been her brother Jacen. He had been crying and she could barely understand a word he had said. "Jaina dad died last night" "are you serious?" from his sobs she knew it wasn't a joke and it wasn't a dream. It was real and He really was dead. [i]i'm only 18 this can't be happening to me. i talked to his yesterday said i'd see him in a few days Shock hadn't yet worn off yet as she packed and readed her x-wing. she set the course toward Corusant and let her R4D8 unit handle the rest as the reality set in HER DAD was dead. the tears that had been held back by numb shock fell down her cheeks. she cried the whole way home. she didn't even know how she managed to land. her brothers were waiting for her when she landed. she held them in a tight embrace as her very world came crashing down. "what happened?" she asked letting them go and following them home. "he had a heart attack their was nothing we could do. i called the medics but they didn't arrive in time" answered Anakin as tears fell from his blue eyes so fun of greif and guilt. "you couldn't have done anything more Ani it's not your fault" whispered Jacen.[/i] Ani had been the only one home that night he felt guilty and no one could take that burden off his young shoulders as hard as everyone tried he would not could not listen. Jacen and Jaina had just moved out a few months before. "we should have been there Jacen at least then Ani wouldn't be able to blame himself. his guilt is eating away at him he's falling down a dark path and i don't know how to help him" "i know Jaina but we weren't there and i don't know what to do i wish he was here to tell us it's gonna be okay but he's not and he's never coming back" when they walked through the door they saw all their family and friends of their father standing and sitting in the kitchen crying. when Leia saw Jaina she held her tight and both of them were lost to renewed tears. "my little girl" whispered Leia in Jaina's ear. after she had held her mother long enough for the tears to slow she let go to hug her uncle and aunt and chewie. seeing them cry made it hit home this wasn't a dream he wasn't coming home ever. "that was five months ago Dad. life has almost returned to normal but it was the little things that are hardest. i keep expecting to see you. realizing you won't be there to tease me or call me you little princess, the fact that your favorite chair is always empty, your place at the dinner table is empty, that i won't be able to help you with the Falcon, and the worst thing is you'll never get to give me away at my wedding or meet meet future grandkids or grow old with mom. i miss you and i love you and i always will Dad but it's time i say goodbye" said Jaina letting her final tears fall gently on his grave marker. -----signature----- and so the plot bunnies attack a whole in his heart http://boards.theforce.net/Message.aspx?topic=24122906&brd=10477 my second fic Your sightless eyes have seen too much http://boards.theforce.net/beyond_the_saga/b10477/24195526/p1/?0

	Wow... That was really moving...and I could feel the real emotion behind this... I'm sorry to hear of your loss...I lost my mother five years ago and my grandmother (who had been like a second mom to me) eight years ago. I still miss them...Going home isn't ever the same...My dad has rented out my grandma's home and he has remarried. So, I can really understand where this came from... And I did need a tissue...
