I'm scared of this story
I'm just following Draco's plan . . .
Great post thanks for the PM
Thanks, G.
whiskers:
Great chapter, thanks for the PM. Do I sense some Anti-Jedi plotting?
Glad you liked it. And yep, there are many conspiracies going on right now . . . we'll find out which conspiracy is winning soon.

Don't worry about being MIA, I've done that too.
Oh, and more Tuesday!
Question for Readers: Now that you guys have read three posts so far, tell me, am I doing a good job? Or do I just plain suck? Are there areas where I need improvement, or have I written everything up to Draco's standards? Please reply, I want to know your opinion.

Great update!
I'm very worried about whatever Harris has planned for the Jedi
I hope that they can take what the Bakura send at them...
Poor Wyn
she feels completly abandoned and alone, and the only person she really trusts is the one who she shouldn't trust at all.
I hope that they manage to dig up information on Zonoma Sekot quickly
jcs
Edit:
To answer your questions-- I think that you've done a very good job with the story so far. While I was sad to see Draco go, I think this story definately landed in capable hands. The level of detail and mystery is really well done.
You are far braver than I taking over an already established story. (and even if I don't always reply as quickly as I'd like, I do look forward to reading updates on this story)

I think Mirror has been nominated in the past in several categories in Winter 2006 . . . and was a Potential for Summer 2006. I'm shocked it that it hasn't won anything myself. Draco's done such a good job. As for the PM list, yep, you're on it.

Thank you very much.
I'm very worried about whatever Harris has planned for the Jedi
He's got something planned, and it'll be activating soon . . .
I hope that they can take what the Bakura send at them...
Don't forget Artran's down there too. The Jedi are extremely isolated right now . . .
Poor Wyn she feels completly abandoned and alone, and the only person she really trusts is the one who she shouldn't trust at all.
That sums it up pretty well. Poor Wyn indeed.
She doesn't deserve any of this.
I hope that they manage to dig up information on Zonoma Sekot quickly

They will. It's just a question of it being too late . . .

Personally, I think I was completely insane.
But I'm glad you're enjoying it so far. I just wanted to know if I've written everything up to satisfaction so far.

I'll keep trying. I'm working on 25 right now.
If I'm lucky I'll be able to finish Mirror by October. Everything should be posted by December.
Chapter 22b is going up Tuesday!
I'll see all of you soon.

RE: Shattered Mirror (Post-TUF, Major AU, J/J, A/T, Kyle, Danni) Question For Readers 8/18
CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO (B)
He stared down at them through the dirty window. It had been blind luck, stumbling across this. The building had been dead until thirty seconds ago; only just now had the dazzling lights come to life, an occurrence so startling that curiosity had driven the four of them to the windows. That was when he remembered all of it. His birth, the attachment of the hand. The knowledge pouring through him. His completion and hatred. He remembered all of it. Why now, he wondered, would he suddenly remember his origins and making? Why would he suddenly remember his pain?
Then he saw them. All of them. Like little ants scurrying about environments much bigger and more complicated than they had ever fathomed. And then, he smiled. He realized why they had come here. His hunch had become so much more in a simple five second glance.
"Why are they here?" the lone female member of their party asked.
"More than for the girl," the human said.
The extra simply watched, dumbfounded. "My agents told me the librarian had gone insane. She wouldn't let anyone inside for any reason."
"Obviously, they were lying or these people used their Jedi tricks to get inside." Unlike so many of his brethren, he took the time and opportunity to say the word
right
.
"Should we attack now?" the female asked.
He pondered this. He had an opportunity now to strike and slay all of them in a few blows. One breaking of a window and he would be inside, and his weapon would pierce all of them within seconds of entry. But the advantages of this were overruled by the gains he would receive if he waited. "No. I am certain this is not all of them. This is just a small group," he said.
The human asked, "Why can't we just wipe them out now?"
The leader resisted his urge to slam the infidel's face against the bricks. In a calm tone, he replied, "Because they can lead us directly to the others. Perhaps they have something to do other than to pick up the girl besides sitting here at their technology doing research. And perhaps, if we wait, we too can learn what they're up to, and whatever advantage they gain from this will be effectively canceled."
The human said, "Ah," and nodded his head.
Artran sighed. At least this human wasn't as stupid as he was selfish and impatient.
The extra muttered, "I see the look on one of their faces. I think they're suspicious."
The leader turned to the extra. "Then we'll retreat a serviceable amount of distance away." Turning to the human, he asked, "Infidel, do you have anything that can trace them?"
The human looked positively stunned that someone of the leader's kind was requesting use of technology. "Um, yes, sir. I, um—"
"Then plant it on their landspeeders. Both of them, in case they take different routes or have multiple safe houses. I won't touch your slime, but if it will help my mission succeed, I permit you to use it."
"If you had said that earlier we'd already be where the girl was last spotted," the human growled, and the leader held back the female from giving the infidel what he deserved.
The human left them, and the leader looked at the extra. "Go with him. You've been among these perversions of life longer than I have. Make sure he is doing everything correctly."
The extra knew better than to argue. He knew of his role, and he knew his punishment if he protested. Without a word, he rose to his feet and walked down the length of the brown death that had once been green, and turned the corner towards the front of the library.
The leader smiled. He stepped back, and said, "Let's leave. No need to make any of them panic. We can always catch up to them later." He left the window, knowing that at last the thorns in his side would finally be pulled out. Their days were numbered, all of them. All he had to choose now was what day their lives would end. Tomorrow. He decided it would be tomorrow when he killed all of them and took the girl and began setting up what he wanted. All of this would end tomorrow. That meant that their lives weren't measured in days but in mere hours. Soon, they'd all be dead.
He rounded the corner then, to find the extra and the human both sitting there. "The tracers have been planted on both cars," the human said as he crawled out from under the second landspeeder. "They won't escape detection."
"Good, good." The leader put his hand to his chin.
Have I thought of everything yet?
he thought.
No, I still need to set my trap. I still have scenes to finish.
"Nom Anor," he said in the language of the Yuuzhan Vong, "Tell the fleet to get into the designated attack position but tell them not to strike yet. In the meantime, tell them to prepare a dovin basal for implantation on Bakura. This is the final assault the Yuuzhan Vong will ever have to make on an infidel world, and I want it to end as
spectacularly
as possible."
Nom Anor nodded obediently and said nothing, but Artran Kharran saw skeptism and defiance in the prefect's eyes.
Oh well,
Artran decided. Nom Anor's life was going to be cut short as well, but his life was measured in days, perhaps weeks, for now. It didn't matter to Artran how Nom Anor thought of his warmaster. The warmaster was just going to kill him like he did with Tsavong Lah.
"Do you think Czulkang Lah will listen to you? He has gone against your orders multiple times, and his family still controls the dovin basals," Riina Kharran pointed out.
"He'll listen to me this time. I made a very clear point to him when last we met," Artran said. Right now, Shavvon held Czulkang's last surviving child hostage onboard the
Sunslayer
. If Czulkang did not do as Artran ordered, that young, honorable soldier would be slain and the Lah family's line of succession would come to an end. Czulkang valued life extremely highly for a Yuuzhan Vong and he would do anything to protect his last son. Even if it meant exterminating the infidels he held sympathy for. This time, Artran was going to every length to not only ensure victory, but complete and utter destruction of the infidels. Then he'd make his dreams reality.
"Nas Choka will follow my every order, he is too afraid of me, as will Malik Carr. We will not need to worry about any snags in my battle plan this time," Artran said.
"Um, excuse me, but what are you talking about?" Denn Jerrevickk asked.
Artran had not forgotten the human. He turned to Denn and bared his teeth. "Nothing of your concern. Is your work finished?"
"Has been for a while."
"Then let's get going. You need to report in to your commanders by now, don't you? You don't wish to be relieved of your command? If you do, that makes you relatively ineffectual," Artran said.
Denn stared at Artran, his eyes wide as saucers, and then said, "Um, yeah sure, right. I need to report in."
Artran nodded. The final snag had been taken care of. Now he only needed to count the hours… and finally he would have all of the materials he needed to build his dreams.
"Why are we tearing through Wyn's room like this? We didn't do this to Hobbie or Zekk's or anyone else's," Jag asked as Tahiri tore apart the couch and found nothing.
"After Valin, Zekk and Danni, who would you suspect first? The cook on this ship?" Tahiri asked as she put the sofa cushions back together rather sloppily.
"Well, the food's pretty bad; he could be working for the Vong," Jag said, attempting a moment of levity that only earned an angry glare from Tahiri.
"Save your jokes for after we find the traitor, Jag. Right now, nothing's amusing, including your sub par and juvenile humor," she replied as she finished putting the sofa back together.
Jag sighed. He had been trying to work on his humor at Jaina's request, but right now his attempts were flat and uninspired. "All right," he said, as he checked the lamp stand, one of the last places they had to check in the room.
"Why are you checking there?" Tahiri asked.
"I dunno. It's one of the places we haven't checked."
"Yeah, along with the bathroom," Tahiri said.
"You can check there if you want. I'll take care of everything else right here," Jag said as he opened the little desk on the lamp stand and began shuffling through assorted papers.
"Yeah, I'll do that."
Jag heard Tahiri walk away, and enter the bathroom, as he closed the desk back up after finding nothing.
Wyn, please. Forgive me for this. I just wish… I just wish the others would trust you as much as I do. You're my sister, and you don't deserve any of this. Especially not the bugs I implanted in your room a few days ago.
He had planted those in a fit of jealousy, because of his suspicions with Valin. In some twisted, dark portion of his mind, Jag had thought that perhaps some of the scars had come from Valin, that Valin was abusing his sister. Even though the sane part of him regarded it as impossible, he did it anyway. Something about Valin simply unsettled him, and he had planted the bugs in both rooms just to make sure Valin was not doing anything to his sister. Thankfully, Tahiri had not found any of the bugs yet. Jag had been careful to check the spots where he had planted the bugs, just so Tahiri wouldn't take them for herself. He had taken the listening devices away and had replaced them a moment later when Tahiri wasn't looking. She was suspicious of him but had not inquired as to what he was doing or why.
He lifted up the small corner of the rug near the lamp stand, grabbed the bug, and removed it and replaced it within a span of ten seconds. He turned around then. Nothing, other than the sounds of Tahiri rummaging through Wyn's cabinets. Good. He pocketed the bug and sought out his last bug, hidden behind a painting of a Csillan city. In the picture, he saw Csilla's apartments and snow, clawcraft flying through the air above, and a Chiss military parade, all reminding him of home. A home that no longer existed in this reality.
Jag sighed and lifted the painting up, grabbed the bug and replaced it, keeping his eyes peeled for Tahiri. Masking his noises, he asked, "Found anything yet?"
"No, not yet," Tahiri answered, and Jag put the painting back in its position.
"That's good. That means Wyn's clean, right?" Jag asked a moment later, feeling elation at the news. Wyn was clean. She was not a traitor; she did not have a slave seed implanted in her.
"Yeah… hey, wait!" Tahiri suddenly shouted, her voice alarmed, and Jag immediately ran down towards the bathroom as he pocketed his final bug.
"What? What is it?" Jag asked as he dashed over.
"There it is. See that lump right here, hidden right here?" Tahiri asked pointing at a hollow point in the wall, disguised by the cabinet. When Jag saw it, he refused to believe it. There was no way she could be the enemy. But as he stared into the hollow point in the wall he realized that the thing unmistaken able. It was a villip. Wynssa Fel was the traitor.
Tahiri instantly got on her comm, and she said, "Kyle? We found the traitor. It's Wyn. We found her villip plain as day behind the cabinet. She removes the cabinet to talk to it."
"Is Wyn in there with you?" Kyle's haggard voice asked. While Tahiri and Jag had searched the squadrons, Kyle was busy checking the enlisted bunks, and Captain Yannik was personally searching through the quarters of his crewmen.
"No. She left when I walked in here. She was not in a good mood," Tahiri responded.
"Call Hobbie and the squadron leaders. You did clear them, correct?"
"Yes we did. They're clean. Nothing," Tahiri answered.
"Call them and bring them in there. We're going to need someone to follow Wyn. Right now, she has to think we've cleared her until we can spring the ambush. Call all of them and hurry," Kyle said, his voice picking up in excitement and energy.
"Right on it. Should we leave the villip here?" Tahiri asked.
"Yes, for now. In case she returns and decides to talk to her masters. Makes for a more convenient ambush arrest. Now hurry. Get out of there before she catches you," Kyle said.
"Right. Jag, let's go," Tahiri said, and she replaced the cabinet carefully and pushed it in all of the way.
"Uh, yeah, right. Just a minute," Jag said, having yanked out a couple of his pre-existing bugs and replaced them while Tahiri was distracted.
It's not Wyn. You know it. After everything she's been through you know it can't be her. She would rather die than listen to that slave seed,
Jag thought as he placed a couple of Wyn's make-up canisters back where they belonged.
Then who can the traitor be if it's not Wyn?
he asked himself.
The triumvirate of Warmaster Kharran's subordinates are probably the most hideous commanders in history, whether infidel or Yuuzhan Vong,
Nom Anor thought. He stared at Nas Choka on the left, Sharrvon Kharran himself, then Malik Carr, and finally the legendary Czulkang Lah.
"So, brother says it is almost time to move," Sharrvon said.
"Yes. But do not attack just yet. He wishes to go give chase to the last surviving Jedi," Nom Anor said.
"The
Jeedai
are on Bakura? Why are they there? How many?" the low rumbling bass of Czulkang Lah asked.
"There's three of them we just observed. I believe there are more. We have yet to find out why they are here, but it involves the infidels' libraries and possibly the Jedi child," Nom Anor answered.
"Jedi." Like those two strange Yuuzhan Vong, Artran and Riina, Sharrvon spoke the word correctly like Nom Anor. Unlike his two siblings, Sharrvon lacked the softer, rounder near-human-like features of Artran and Riina, which made Nom instantly question whether Sharrvon was indeed a 'sibling'.
"So, it becomes more interesting. My brother has long wanted to slay the last of the Jedi, especially the one named Anakin Solo. Is he among the confirmed members of the Jedi party?"
"Yes. We have also confirmed Valin Horn and Danni Quee," Nom Anor replied.
"Anyone else?"
"Probably, Supreme Commander. We have yet to confirm whether there are others, but there is a distinct possibility that they're all on this planet."
"Then wipe them all out! Have the warmaster leave the planet and we'll drop the dovin basal on them! We'll simply destroy the whole planet like we did with the worlds called Sernipidal, Mon Calamari, and Denon! We have waited far too long for the final assault! Each hour we wait they consolidate their defenses!" Malik Carr urged.
"I believe Artran wishes to capture a Jedi alive. Knowing our warmaster, he won't try to take very long. An infidel half-day, I think," Nom Anor said.
Nas Choka smiled; it was little more than a thin open scar. "He is the most unorthadox warmaster we've ever had in our history. I wonder why he wishes to capture a
Jeedai
alive."
Nom Anor sighed. He wishes he knew himself. Why
would
a Yuuzhan Vong warmaster wish to capture a Jedi? The Jedi, despite their shrinking numbers, remained possibly the greatest threat to the Yuuzhan Vong empire. The Shamed Ones still told tales of the heroic Anakin Solo and of the spirit of Jaina Solo, who died during the shaping process—that they claimed watches over and guides all of the Shamed Ones into the afterlife. Why would Warmaster Kharran wish to provide the Shamed Ones with another figure to rally around in their increasing resentment of the 'good' Yuuzhan Vong castes?
"Our warmaster has always had… a profound interest in the Jedi," Nom answered awkwardly.
Nas nodded. "He has always spoken harshly against the
Jeedai
, that much I know of. But it has never felt completely natural to me. I believe our warmaster has a higher agenda than the war, than even the Yuuzhan Vong."
"Careful, my lord. You are approaching heresy," Malik warned.
"Is it heresy to tell the truth? Warmaster Kharran has won us battles, but when we have the chance to strike the final blow, he inexplicably does not attack! Why? I believe we all must consider this before we follow his next order."
"These are questions to ponder later. Right now, they have no overall effect on our current mission," Sharrvon said, effectively ending the conversation. "Is that all, Nom Anor?"
Nom paused. "Yes, it is."
The other villips shrunk, except for Czulkang Lah's. Nom stared at Czulkang's aged face for a moment. "Yes?" Nom asked.
"Prefect… watch yourself. The warmaster is merely using you. You are there to die," Czulkang warned.
"I know. I am looking for a way out of this," Nom growled.
"Look harder. Soon, Prefect, the warmaster will get his way. He's finally gotten his way with me. Soon he will do the same to you, or worse."
"I know." Nom nodded.
"Good luck, Prefect. May the gods, wherever they are, guide you towards safety. Or at least guide you better than they did with me," Czulkang said, and then his villip finally vanished.
Nom sighed and shrunk his own villip.
If the gods were guiding me towards safety, I wouldn't be here,
he thought. But there was nothing that could be done about that. He could only try to survive. That was his only option with Artran Kharran watching over him every waking hour. The moment Artran decided that Nom was expendable, Nom knew, Artran was likely to just simply kill him, or worse, turn him in to the infidels. Nom was an infamous figure among the infidels, and he carried several death marks on his hide. There were billions, if not trillions, of people who would like to see Nom's head on a platter.
The ooglith masquer began to itch, and Nom Anor forced himself not to scratch. He had been wearing this thing far too long, but he had no choice. He could not reveal his true identity. Especially not here.
Yet Artran and Riina didn't seem to having any problems with their masquers. They seemed almost… comfortable in their disguises. They looked more believable than Nom did, that was for certain. Underneath the skin of their masquers… they did appear human. If Artran had not become warmaster, he would have had a promising career in intelligence.
Nom suddenly saw Artran's villip sprout from under the ground. "Are you finished, Prefect?" Artran asked.
"Yes, they received your instructions," Nom told him.
"Why haven't you returned yet, Prefect?"
"I just finished, Warmaster," Nom answered, the words rolling off his tongue easily. He had far too much experience in lying to not sound natural.
Artran nodded. "The warlords are becoming edgy, are they?"
Nom knew better than to lie here. Artran likely knew everything already. "Yes, they are, Warmaster," he responded.
Artran nodded again. "Return at once, Prefect; I have use for your services."
"Thank you, Warmaster." Nom bowed, and Artran's villip vanished once again. Shuddering at the thought of what Artran was planning for him, Nom Anor walked away from behind the buildings and back towards the neon lights of the city.
Everything had been normal up until a second ago. That was
she
entered his mind. Her screams as he crawled through the foliage. Her ragged gasps as he got closer. Her dying breaths as he held her in his hands.
Anakin… I knew you'd come back for me. Thank you…
had been her final words. Her voice had been a mere whisper, and her eyes were closed, and blood trails poured from them. Her bloody, torn, beaten body had fallen limp in his arms, and he had cried. He had already been on his knees, and he cried into her bloody rags; he wailed her name, begging her to return to life.
He gripped the bookshelf and lean up against it as he shut his eyes, trying to drive the scene away. His left hand massaged his temples, and rubbed his eyes and he tried to rid himself of the memory. But the screams would not stop. Her torture at the hands of his greatest enemy would not leave his mind. As he tried to stare at a book, a shelf, a computer,
anything
to rid himself of the memory, it was only pressed into his mind more, her screams only got louder, her whispers only echoed more. Jaina Solo's death would not leave his mind.
Her torture and death at the hands of the Yuuzhan Vong only
infuriated
him. And slowly, he felt fear. There was someone nearby… his worst nightmare come alive, someone he inexplicably
knew
. Artran Kharran was here. He knew it. He didn't know
why
, but he knew. They were not safe here.
Anakin Solo immediately left the bookshelf and he walked briskly to Malinza Thanas. The young woman was understandably exhausted, for after a half-hour their search had been fruitless. She looked up at him, her eyes reddening from too much time staring unblinkingly at the screen. "What is it?" she asked almost sleepily.
"We're leaving." Anakin said.
"Now? But we've barely—"
"We're not safe here. We need to get out of here."
"What do you—"
"We're being watched," Anakin said, and he looked all around, including at the dirty windows above them, which, he realized, someone could peer into without them ever knowing it.
"By who?" Malinza asked, her voice growing more alarmed as the moment continued.
"The Vong. And a Peace Brigader. I can sense him. He's selfish, but extremely smart and conniving. We need to get out of here."
"What, and lead them back to—"
"The Vong don't have tracers. And they won't let the Peace Brigader use them either. We're just going to get out of here. We can't come back; they'll just be waiting for us. We need to gather everything and get out of here
now
." Anakin said. It was a gamble, but one he must take.
"Wouldn't leaving now tell them we're spooked?"
"I doubt they know how long we've been here," Anakin responded.
"All right." Malinza sighed, and she put the console on standby. She grabbed her comm and said into it, "Mission compromised. Execute Contingency Mike-Foxtrot-X-ray. Gather everyone together. We're out of here."
"And we're taking different ways home. Just to throw them off," Anakin reminded.
Malinza nodded. "Way ahead of you. X-ray means 'separation', Mike means 'compromised', Foxtrot means 'full-out retreat'. Basically I told them we're bailing out of here in a hurry and we've gotta take different ways back to the condo."
Already, Farina came back, with Danni, Maiko, and Kira following. "Got three of them. What about the others?"
"I found Valin!" Dominick shouted, and he came out of the books with the white-haired Jedi following him, looking quite disgruntled… and Anakin noticed that Valin was developing another one of his headaches. They seemed all too frequent these days…
"All right, is everyone together?" Anakin sensed Malinza doing a quick mental head-count and Malinza nodded, satisfied. "All right, that's everyone. We're leaving. Same teams that arrived. Farina, you're taking the longer way around. My group will take the way we came here back and set up a quick-defense in case we have an ambush party on Bakura. Everyone understand?"
Anakin saw everyone nod. There were no verbal responses; everyone had so much fear etched upon their faces that Anakin doubt any of them could truly respond.
Fear had embedded itself in Malinza also, but she resisted it better. Either that or it was her position as commander that forced her to repress it. "All right, we're leaving. Anakin, do your mind-trick thing on the cranky librarian again, and we're getting out of here before any Yuuzhan Vong rodders catch us. Got it?"
Anakin was able to respond. "Yes. Yes, I know."
"Then we're going. If we can sneak a few books past the librarian, we might be able to make
some
progress. Grab anything Unknown Regions. Ship logs, maps, legends, anything that could point to Zonama Sekot. Grab 'em all and go! Hurry! And let's get some disk files while we're at it!" Malinza ordered.
As the team quick-scrambled, Jaina's screams and whispers faded, but they would not leave entirely. Anakin saw that despite his best efforts he was shivering. He wasn't just scared. He was downright
terrified
.
"C'mon, Anakin! You said we have to get going! Grab some disks and help me out!" Malinza urged as she shoved a stack of them into his hands. Thankfully, they were enclosed in a box, marked Unknown Regions Square Region number 12, or he would have spilled them.
"Uh, right!" Anakin said and he began copying the existing information on the consoles onto the blank disks. At least this way might allow him to forget her screams… if only for a little while.
He waited. That was when they exited the building, and a grin spread across his face. Here they came, carrying their books and disks, obviously having to use their magic to get all of this, for Artran had heard the librarian had gone quite mad. He saw them pile whatever they were researching into the landspeeders. He was by himself, now. Nom Anor and Riina Kharran were elsewhere, and Denn Jerrevickk had been called back to his base, something about a special-forces 'mission' that Denn said might involve that girl Artran so desperately wanted.
However, just because he was physically alone did not mean he was truly by himself. He had ways of communication that no one knew. No one besides Riina. The time to reveal his secret form of communication hadn't come, yet. The time when he could openly unveil and use it was coming, he was sure, but the timing still wasn't
perfect
. He desired perfection at all costs, that was why he was the warmaster and Tsavong Lah's fate was bound to whatever ruled the afterlife.
His battle plan had been perfect. His surprise had been exactly that, a surprise. When he had unleashed it upon Tsavong Lah, the then-warmaster had no effective counter-measure. The warmaster's sloppy ways had forced him on the defensive. His lack of preparation destroyed his armor, his weapons. His final mistake had been underestimating Artran Kharran. That was the mistake that had finally cost Tsavong Lah his life.
The victory had taught Artran something useful as well: never underestimate an opponent, no matter how weak he or she seemed. That was why he had not gambled and struck now, while the enemy was preoccupied with their technology and prevented them from reaching their base. It was best if they were grouped together. They would be the ones who would grow overconfident. Also, if Denn was correct, and he most likely was, the Bakurans were going to assault the place these infidels hid inside. Artran and Riina were going to use that distraction to grab what they wanted. All he would have to do was be patient. And when he had what he wanted, he would kill everything. This pathetic, wasted, dying planet would be put out of its misery.
The fact that it had been his fault that the planet had degenerated was not lost on him. It was mercy that allowed him to bring the basals here one last time, and bring another moon down on another planet. He wished to alleviate the suffering of these unfortunate beings who were unlucky enough to be born infidel. In his experience he had learned the best way to remove suffering was to kill the sufferer.
And now, they were about to leave, he took his chance. He saw. He saw his face. The person who had cursed him with his existance. The person stared back, and suddenly Artran realized he had been seen. The person's eyes stared through him, past the disguise, past his real skin, into what Artran really was. Anakin Solo had seen him. However, he had not seen Artran long enough to realize who he had just seen. The landspeeders pulled out, and they raced down the hallways.
Artran immediately saw that they were going two different ways. He smiled. So they had been flushed out of there. They would not return here. They would hunker down wherever they lived and try to hide. They could try all they wanted. He didn't care. Trying didn't mean they would succeed in dodging his grasp. He contemplated using his secret communications, but Nom Anor's lack of access to them cripples its usage for the moment. So, for the moment, he was forced to use a more traditional method. He activated his villips and saw both of their faces, both looking human and infidel, although Nom's looked like it was starting to die. Oh well.
"They're running. They know they have been watched. Riina, follow the first car, the one with Malinza Thanas. Nom, you take the second car, the one that's taking the unknown way."
When Nom looked like he would question the order, Artran spat, "No arguing!
Do it!
Go! Both of you! Follow them wherever they go! I'll pursue them from a distance."
After the traditional method of communication was over, Artran ran down the street. He found something that could come in handy. A single-seat speeder bike. An apparent drug addict walked out of the alleyway, and shoved some black-colored stick-like contraptions in his face.
"Want to buy some death sticks?" the addict asked. His clothing was rotten and he appeared to not have shaven in weeks, nor, it seemed, had have cleansed himself in an equivalent amount of time. He was a worthless member of infidel society.
Artran frowned. The drug addict had just cost Artran ten seconds with his interference. Five to walk in his way and ask the sentence. The other five seconds were spent killing the addict. The man collapsed to the ground, onto his stomach, his wasted life finally over, as the wound in his neck bled out. Artran then spent another five seconds moving the worthless man to the side, behind a dumpster. With luck the infidels would think it was just another drug deal gone bad.
Artran walked past the fallen man, and he found the bike locked up. No matter. He knew how to unlock them. He simply broke the lock and he turned on the engine. Then, steering left, he flew away, through the seemingly invisible, but lit and marked, highways chasing after the landspeeder of his choice.
He chose the one heading to the left, down the strange way. He knows Riina will maintain her pursuit cleanly. She has never failed him. However, Nom Anor, burdened by unfamiliarity with Artran Kharran and his lack of the Kharrans' secrets, was not as likely to keep up the pursuit. In fact, from his first impressions of Nom, Artran guessed that Nom was not putting his full effort into the mission; rather, the prefect was looking for a way
out
. Too bad. No matter how hard Nom looked, the prefect would not find a way out. Or be smart enough to use whatever small scraps of bait Artran might be willing to drop for personal entertainment purposes. Nom would not betray Artran because there was no possible way for Nom to do so. It was pure simplicity.
As he sped through the streets of this planet, he saw the landspeeder he was chasing. Slowing down, he maintained his distance. He was almost there. He was only hours away from having all of the materials. Soon he would be able to implement his dreams. All he had to do was remain patient for just a little longer and remind himself:
Soon.

Great update!
this connection between Anakin and Artran is bizarre... there's something much deeper at play there.
Can't wait to see what happens next!

Oh wow, proof of being the traitor, I wonder how this will play out, especially Valin's reaction, considering.

I hope you like what happens next, there's only one more set-up chapter before the action truly begins . . .

Hmm, Valin's in a tough spot right now . . . his girlfriend is thought to be the traitor, there's people hunting him . . . I wouldn't want to be Valin right now.
DARTH_MU:

LOL.
Yeah, it's a bit different than usual, eh? *ahem* Jag will get his chance soon enough . . . but first there's a certain arrest . . .
Thanks for reading.
More soon.
